Matchmove artist
Description:A matchmove artist will match computer
generated scenes with shots from live-actionfootage so the
two can be synced up. They re-create the live-actionscene
exactly to mirror the camera on set. Thisis done by creating a
3D camera in 3d tracking software and using camera tracking
to copy the real life camera. The position on the CG needs to
be perfect so matchmove artists need to have an eye for
detail.
Matchmove artist is an entry role. So it is a good way to
discover other roles as a VFX artist or become a technical
director.
A Matchmover will work with data-capture techniciansand
the live action crew who will set up markers on set.
The Matchmover then passes his work on to a layoutartist,
who will analysisframing, compositionand camera angle of
each VFX shot.
