Pansexual, Transsexual And Homosexuals
In today's present day, knowing what sexual orientations there are is important, especially when
trying to understand an individual and their life style. There are many different types including
being heterosexual, homosexual, bisexual, pansexual, transsexual and transgender. When
understanding these individuals, it can also help understand how and why society should treat them
properly. Many individuals both heterosexuals and those in the LGBT deserve to be treated fairly,
especially when it is about their sexuality. Many of these individuals took their own lives because of
the treatment they receive. Being a heterosexual means that an individual that is attracted to the
opposite sex. In today's society, the nontechnical term to being a heterosexual is called being
straight. According to Statista.com, 98.8% of American men and 97.7% of American women in
2013 consider themselves straight. This shows that, in America, there are more men than women
who consider themselves "straight". Homosexuals are men and women who are attracted to the
same sex. Homosexual men are called gay and homosexual women are called lesbians. In America,
according to Statista.com, 1.5% of women and 1.8% of men consider themselves lesbian or gay.
Knowing this it proves also that there were more homosexual men than women in 2013. Many of
these men and women were oppressed or treated unfairly because of their sexuality. According to
Case Western Reserve University, they state, "more than one–third of

The Pros And Cons Of Homosexuals
Homosexuals have become way more open on television with no shame. Now of days on television
it is normalcy to be a homosexual. Ever since the fight for gay rights started, that is when it become
more normal and not looked down upon. Not only is there more gay characters on hit television
shows, but there are plenty of actors on television shows that are homosexuals in real life. Not only
is there more homosexuals, there is also beginning to be a few transgenders that have popped up as
well. Some shows that publicly include gay and transgender characters are "Glee," Grey's
Anatomy," and "Modern Family"("Gay on Tv: It's All in the Family,"2012). Not only the fiction
shows have that, but shows like "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" as well. Their own dad came
out to say he wanted to be a girl. He was a major athlete in the Olympics, and he came out. It has
been shown that many people have been influenced to come out and be more open with their
sexuality, because when they see people on television doing so; they will as well. While it is more
open, there are some people who do not support the decisions. The new generations are what have
made homosexuality more accepted. The generations such as the "baby boomers" and the
"milennials," grew up with homosexuals not being the norm. The social attitudes between those
generations and the generation now is so different when it comes to social views("What's Behind
Gay Rights attitude Shift,"2015).The past generations have

Homosexuals In Australian Film
Since the beginning of the Australian film industry Homosexuals have had a certain depiction made
of them. One of the first ever Australian films to include the idea of homosexuality is The Set which
was released in 1970 (Davidson, 2016). This movie assisted in the set up the stereotype of gays in
the Australian film industry. Although, Since the 70's the representation of the minority group of
homosexuals has changed drastically in the 21st century.
Homosexuals in Australian film are usually made fun of and or are bullied by other the characters.
They are often called a range of inappropriate names from 'Poofters' to 'Faggots' and 'Gaylords' in
attempts to offend them. Homosexuals are alienated in Australian Film, being treated like a disease
that nobody wanted to deal with. In fact, at the beginning of Australian film once a character was in
any way associated with a gay character, they also were alienated from the rest of the group. This
can be seen in the well know Australian film Priscilla Queen Of The Desert where one of the
character stood up for a gay character and his so called mates turned on him as well (IMBD).
In the world famous Australian film Crocodile Dundee the main character Mike Dundee comes into
contact with a Gay Man dressed a a woman and proceeds to grab his crotch and yell out "That's a
man dressed as a woman" in confusion ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In almost all of the past Australian films only Gay men can be seen in film never really gay women.
One of the few Australian films that includes the gay women community is The Getting of Wisdom
made in 1978 which is a coming of age story of a teenage girl (Buckmaster, 2016). This sparks the
idea that perhaps gay women were not included as much in Australian film as they (Filmakers)
found it difficult to make fun of them as men dressed as women proved to be a more cause for
amusement in Australian

Homosexuals In Russia
How have the perceptions of homosexuals' rights evolved in Russia from the 1930s to the 1990s?
In the 1930s, under the rule of Stalin, Russia was forced into a strict policy of containment against
rebellious groups and non–descendants from the nation itself. Proceeding the Russian Revolution,
homosexuals were always seen as the unruly minority of the population and were, in fact,
commonly identified as the mentally ill. Multiple anti–gay laws were put into place by Stalin for
many reasons, some by which were thought to be based on conspiracy theories and others, by
religion. Stalin had set the precedent in Russia for many years to come until his death in 1953.
Following his death, there was a shift in attitude towards homosexuals, but Russia ... Show more

Additionally, in 1964 a Soviet sex manual was released, basing its information off of the following:
"With all the traps available to them, gay people search out and win the uncertainty of adolescents.
Don't under any circumstances permit them to touch you. Such individuals should quickly be
reported to the regulatory organs so they can be expelled from society" (Tuller 82). In spite of these
uncommon happenings, many individuals were arrested for homosexuality; government control of
homosexuality and oppression of gay rights did not start to gradually unwind until the early 1970s
(West 173). Kozlovsky was allowed to incorporate a concise inside Vicktor Sosnora was permitted

Children of Homosexuals
They were high school sweethearts and now on the night of their third wedding anniversary, the
topic of having children comes up again. They both agreed they would settle down, with steady
careers before they discussed it again. Still madly in love they would love to have a little baby to
raise into the world as their own. They aren't allowed to in many places though. Why is this? Is it
because of criminal records? No, neither of them had any trouble with the law, except their
marriage. They were both women so they were not allowed to have a semi normal life. They could
have a cute dog, a nice house with a white picket fence, and nice car but they are not allowed to
raise a child. This doesn't make much sense at all. Why can't two women raise a child together?
Why can't two men raise a child together? We need to separate beliefs from laws. Not everyone has
the same beliefs and opinions. In this case, same–sex couples should be allowed to adopt and raise
children. Stephanie Pappas states "Homosexual parents provide open–mindedness to leverence and
gender equality." Most parents spend time teaching their children their own beliefs and that certain
types of people are not as good as others. The world needs for equality and same–sex parents would
teach their children equality without thinking twice (Stephanie Pappas). Robert Jay Green says
"There is no negative impact on children from same–sex parenting" (Ellen Friedrich). Everyone has
a different home life than each other.

Stereotypes Against Homosexuals
Homosexuality
Imagine if homosexuals were treated the same as everyone else, nobody gave them a second look,
nobody silently whispering about them. Homosexuals have been treated differently since people
have known about them, since they have come out and showed us the real them. Homosexuals, over
years have been trying to be treated the same, like everyone else, they have walked through
everyone's opinion, through the scientific thoughts about them, through the way they have been
treated, through all these years. Throughout their history homosexuals have been fighting for
rights, the rights to be married, everyone has thoughts about homosexuality whether it has to do with
psychology, or genes, whether it is wrong or right according to their ... Show more content on

The CNN showed an acceptance graph on homosexuality. 67% percent of people said
homosexuality is never justifiable, those numbers decreased to 42% in 2010–2014 (the diplomat). A
table showed Americans who accepted homosexuality, in 2007 about 40 people have a LGBT friend
or family, 30 believe that the same–sex marriage should be recognized. About 60 realize
homosexuality is not a choice. In 2012 those numbers increased to 60 for those who have a friend or
family member that is homosexuality. 50 believe that marriage should be recognized, and 70 realize
homosexuality is not a choice (the airspace.com). Everybody has opinions about everything,
especially about this topic. People's opinions could be that they agree with homosexuality, disagree
with it, could be neutral, or think that it could be or could not be a psychological disease. These
opinions affect how people react to these things. Many people through these years have changed

Summary: The Homosexual In America
After the 19th century European history, we merge into American history. There was close to no
studies done up until Post World War II. There was some encouraging growth for gay life that was
very much apparent in Greenwich and Harlem in the 1920's and this is also when the community
adopted the pink and black triangle. The war allowed for gay men and lesbian women to insert
themselves into the war efforts without being constantly chastised. There were efforts to work
towards gaining more acknowledgement of this community. One of whom that led for this justice in
the 1950's was Senator Joseph McCarthy with his investigation of homosexuals in government
positions. His investigation is what led up to the first politically inclined demand for ... Show more

case was furthered in becoming a spectacle the community's war efforts soon resulted in a

Stereotypical Portrayal Of Homosexuals And The Homophobia...
Nussbaum also believes that the stereotypical portrayal of homosexuals and the homophobia
towards homosexuals is created by a disgust and that disgust is is what makes minority groups look
inferior to majority groups. Nussbaum believes that "projective disgust plays no proper role in
arguing for legal regulation, because of the emotion's irrationality and its connection to stigma and
hierarchy...Disgust, however, often prevents us from looking for those good reasons, creating the
misleading impression that the policy has already been well defended. Turning it to legitimize
polices" (Nussbaum, 20). Due to the "politics of disgust," Nussbaum believes that homosexual

Nussbaum nicely puts it that religion and sexual identity should be a way for people to express
themselves because "we may think other people [are] wrong and sinful in matters of the deepest
moral importance while yet agreeing that respect for them as an equal citizens requires according
them a broad sphere of liberty of both thought and conduct" (Nussbaum, 41). Nussbaum explains
through cases of race, gender, and disabilities why these are analogous to the case of sexual
orientation. She makes this statement because she believes that "law prohibiting same–sex
marriage...are similar to laws against interracial marriage...[since] people are being classified by a
trait, and then being denied fundamental opportunities in a wide range of areas because of that trait"
(Nussbaum, 44). With disabilities, while the courts have not agreed that injustices towards thee
people is an issue on suspect classification, the courts do agree that laws are name by the majority
due to disgust or dislike would go against their equal protection (Nussbaum,46–47). The similarities
Nussbaum finds between other special groups in the United States makes her argument for why
sexuality should be treated the same way as these groups in cases like Lawrence and Griswold. If

Persecution Against Homosexuals
To begin, it is important to note that any active and direct persecution was mostly aimed at
homosexual males and not homosexual females because any measures were established to protect
fertility, and it was thought that unlike males, females were always ready to procreate (Mitchell
249). Beginning in 1933, most of the attacks were made through raids implemented at different gay
bars, and in that same year, one of the most notorious events took place; The Institute for Sexual
Science, a research institute which advocated for homosexual rights founded by Magnus Hirschfeld,
was burned to the ground along with 10,000 of their books (Crowe 143). It was only after the
assassination of Hitler's SA leader Ernst Rohm in 1934 that a more organized and legalized attack
was put in motion against homosexuals (Crowe 143). In 1935, it was outlawed for any ... Show

Therefore, any physical activity could be used as evidence for persecution and ultimately LGBT
members would be sent to prisons and concentration camps; a total of 50,000 men were accused
under this new law (Bergen 222).
A more systematic and aggressive persecution of these homosexual males would be led by the Chief
of German Police, Heinrich Himmler (Goda 149); it would be under his command that the first
suspects recorded by the police since 1900 would fall (Crowe 144). For example, by 1936, a special
unit called the Reich Central Office for the Combating of Homosexuality and Abortion would be
known to persecute not only homosexuals but abortion practitioners with the idea that these two
groups' depraved sexuality and were "national diseases" (Mitchell 242). Under this top–secret

Arana And Homosexuals
The article was so intriguing to read because as short as it was, it could have been a whole book. In
the article, he leads us into the beginning where his mother found out he was gay and that was the
beginning of his journey. The way his parents reacted is the way a lot of parents react to the point
where kids in this society think that's the only reaction people should be having. Arana (2012)
addresses how his parents wanted to fix him and turn him back into "normal". She even ended up
taking him to see a psychiatrist where his moto is about turning people back into their "normal
mindset". However, what exactly is normal? Who legit has the power to determine where the line
gets cut? Because after all that hardship Arana went through, he eventually became in control of his
thoughts. I know growing up, the word gay or lesbian was not something that was discussed in my

Monsters = Homosexual
Monsters = Homosexual Anything that is abnormal or non–traditional is considered a basis for
discrimination and prejudice. Anything that threatens the social concept of "normal" is considered
wrong or even sinful. That is why when we talk about religion, instead of acceptance we talk about
"right from wrong" using the religion's perspective of fact. To many people being homosexual is a
sin; it is an act of the devil. Many more people believe that it is a choice and that people chose to
live their lives as homosexuals. Furthermore, some people believe that homosexuals, to avoid
homophobia should stick to the equation of Monsters = Homosexual. In Cooper's analysis, he
discusses how being homosexual can either be monstrous because it is ... Show more content on

Some parents, do not wish for a homosexual child. These types of people believe in tradition,
tradition, being used as a loose word, as a "correct" term for normality. "Traditional" mothers would
like to see their baby girls in a white dress, while "traditional" fathers want to walk them down the
aisle. These mothers want to see their sons with a woman like themselves and the fathers want their
sons to "be a man." Although these are possibilities for homosexual couples, there are many people
to deem it as abnormal. To some just the idea of their kid being gay is monstrous. They find it
repulsing and if their kids do turn out gay they push them aside. In the film Jenny's Wedding, staring
Katherine Heigl, the plot is very like what I describe above. Katherine's character, Jenny, is

HOMOSEXUAL RELATIONSHIP
It takes great courage to say, I am a homosexual. It needs even greater humbleness to put up with
the statement: What did you say? You are a homosexual. The complexity of the homosexual
behavior generates an obvious question in my mind as to why society looks down upon deviant
sexual orientations like homosexuality. Is it because the homosexuals behave in a way which is not
normal, or which is not practiced by the 'bulk'? Or is it because the 'bulk' tries to ignore the harsh
trutha truth which attacks his conscience generated out of his socialization that the 'bulk' of such
bulk does have deviant sexual tendencies at some moment of time, which even gets manifested? The

It also serves to contest the pervasive heterosexist attitudes that dismiss gay/lesbian/bisexual women
and men as the embodied imperfections of Westernisation.
In India there exists sufficient documentary, archaeological and anthropological evidences to
suggest that same sex ties especially among men, were not only culturally, but dignified and revered
by attributing similar traits to religious deities. The homoerotic carvings among the erotic carvings
on the Hindu temples of Khajuraho in Konark and Puri; and on the great Buddhist monument at
Borabordur in Indonesia are well known. The Kamasutra mentions a number of homosexual
positions in chapter 8th of part III. Indian kings also tended to have a number of boys in their
harems.
Nevertheless, today the most shameful fact is that there are many incidents for the harassment of
homosexuals. These incidents of harassment of the homosexual community and social
discrimination in India remain widespread despite years of campaigning by sexually rights groups in
the country. The biggest hurdle faced by the campaign to fight discrimination based on sexual
orientation in India is section 377 of the Indian Penal Code, which criminalizes unnatural sex. The
law, a remnant of Victorian morality, was made in 1860, when any sexual activity that was not
meant for procreation was considered a sin.
It is the time for us to change our perceptions and visualizations vis–à–vis same sex marriages. We

Homosexuals In The Military
First it was African Americans, then it was women equality, then it was allowing homosexuals to

United States Military that has sent people on a frenzy. Secretary of Defense Ash Carter announced
on June 30th, 2016 a new policy, by revoking the ban, now allowing transgender individuals be able
to openly serve in the U.S. armed forces.[b] Being transsexual or "transgender" can be simply
defined as an individual who socially identifies as the opposite gender from what they were
biological born with. I applaud the U.S. government in lifting this ban, even though the stigmatism
will still remain for years to come.

Homosexuals In The 19th Century
To comprehend why we can't cite people from past periods as homosexuals, first we need to
comprehend the term homosexual in its modern setting. The nineteenth century denoted an
enormous move in social view of sex since science decided to elaborate sex. It was this elaborate,
powered by Western compulsion with admission that permitted us to make a, "whole machinery for
investigating, speechifying, and analyzing" sex, which formed sexuality. (Foucault 32). This
"machinery" did not exist amid past periods in history. We thought of classifications like gay person
and hetero as a consequence of this discourse. Sexuality only appeared now because there was more
than one class accessible, and procreative sex was no more widely inclusive. Another author, Gayle
Rubin, contends in his book, "Thinking Sex", that urbanization was one of the causes of changing
thoughts regarding sexuality. These marvels influenced each aspect of present day life, and "...
generated new forms of state apparatus and altered gender roles (Rubin 16)." ... Show more content

Males would desire to have sex with a beautiful creature, paying little mind to whether that creature

In a book written on gay rights in 2014, Walter Frank notes that a majority of the nation now
supports gay rights, and they do not find homosexuality as being a moral problem (Frank 2014).
This doesn't mean however, that support for homosexuals is a new thing. In an article about a
homosexual student club that was formed on a university campus in Maine, and the state–wide gay
conference they wanted to hold on campus, it was found that supporters of the club and their
conference (which garnered much controversy) were either homosexual themselves, or were people
who were sympathetic to homosexuals and held a belief that people have a right to self–fulfillment
(Cohn 1984). This support that also comes from non–homosexuals is important in making a change.
And while now a majority of the population supports gay rights and holds non judgmental feelings

The Monster And The Homosexual Analysis
Some individuals can state that homosexuality tends to have a biased perception in society. The
question as to why homosexuality would be considered to fall under the same category as a monster
could be asked. Is homosexuality frowned upon because it is an alteration in a typical, heterosexual
relationship, or possibly because it may violate the beliefs of others? Nonetheless, monsters are
known to be repulsive entities that inflict havoc on individuals and society. The effect that
homosexuality has on individuals seems classified to be just as threatening as the actions of a
monster. One man, author Harry Benshoff, composed "The Monster and the Homosexual" to reflect
on the reasoning behind the discrimination of homosexuality. Benshoff begins ... Show more content

"The Monster and the Homosexual" is written to give the reading audience a sense of a background
on the history homosexuality has gained through culture in society and how people are bearing a
comparison behind a homosexual and a monster. Some individuals view homosexuality as immoral
and nefarious, similar to how one would describe a monster. Although not biased, homosexuality is
an alteration to the typically known heterosexual relationship, and that seems to be the reasoning
behind why homosexuality is considered as relentlessly as monstrous activity (739). Benshoff
brings forth the reasoning in his article by stating, "Some people have always considered anything
that opposes or lies outside the ideological status quo intrinsically monstrous and unnatural" (738).
"The Monster and the Homosexual" provides the readers with several circumstances in which the
comparison of homosexuals and monsters is apparent, whether in the form of symbolisms or in
some instances, such as The Gay Agenda, the comparison is more straightforward without the use of
symbolism (737). Overall, the argument of Harry Benshoff's article, "The Monster and the

marriage, homosexual interests have come to characterize America.
That's an indication of the success of the homosexual agenda. And some Christians, including some
national church leaders, have wavered on the issue even recently. But sadly, when people refuse to
acknowledge the sinfulness of homosexuality–calling evil good and good evil (Isa 5:20)–they do so
at the expense of many souls.
How should you respond to the success of the homosexual movement? Should you accept the recent
trend toward tolerance? Or should you side with those who exclude homosexuals with hostility and
disdain?
In reality, the Bible calls for a balance between what some people think are two opposing reactions–
condemnation and compassion. Really, the two together are essential elements of biblical love, and
that's something the homosexual sinner desperately needs.
Homosexual advocates have been remarkably effective in selling their warped interpretations of
passages in Scripture that address homosexuality. When you ask a homosexual what the Bible says
about homosexuality–and many of them know–they have digested an interpretation that is not only
warped, but also completely irrational.

Homosexuals and the NFL
On June 24, 2011, New York passed a law that allows same–sex marriage since then, New York has
become the largest state to allow gay and lesbian couples to marry. Homosexuals have been gaining
more rights in the 21st century yet there is still pressure for them to keep their relationships hidden
or disguised from society. Since 2007 acceptance of homosexuality has been on a steady increase in
most countries; the United States is one of three exceptions. Here in America, acceptance has grown
by more than 10%. Despite this, endorsement is still only at 60%, which is less than more than a
dozen other countries. Regardless of this increase, the U.S still lags behind the forefront of approval
of homosexuality (Global Divide). With this in mind, I decided to test society's views on
homosexuality.
Just recently Michael Sam who is a high ranked Defensive End about to get drafted into the
National Football League, announced he was gay. He became the first openly gay NFL prospect in
history. The title of this article was "Michael Sam's barrier –breaking status makes him NFL test
case". Personally, I don't understand why they have to make a big deal about this and have it all over
the place, including ESPN, NFL and many other sports related shows and articles. Not only was this
the first time he has announced he was gay to the public, but it was also the first time his family has
heard the news; unfortunately, his father didn't take it well. Sam's only worry isn't dealing with the

The lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community in the United States exhibit great
heterogeneity in its members' racial and ethnic, class, religious, and other sociodemographic

How Can Social Justice Become A Fad
Movements such as Black Lives Matter and the gay rights movement have gained rapid popularity
in modern society. This spike of interest in social justice in pop culture has created a "fad" in which
celebrities, public figures, and regular citizens feel an underlying pressure to support social justice
movements which alter rights for large demographics of people. And while the cultural trend of
social justice becoming a fad creates the illusion of a more progressive society, the truth of the
matter is that the popularity of such movements can be detrimental to the cause because it gives the
false appearance of universal acceptance when the stigma against oppressed groups is still prevalent
in society. Indubitably, fads will fade, which is especially threatening in the case of social justice,
which has a much greater consequence once the popularity surrounding it disappears. Removing the
illusion of progress and calling out the hypocrisy behind those who feign support for their own
personal gain and popularity can counter the insidious nature of the social justice "fad."
Popularity can be powerful in the sense that movements can gain a lot of traction by drawing
attention to problems; however, this power is often wasted by the inability to utilize public outrage

Homosexual Soldiers Essay
When I think of the military I think about the camaraderie between soldiers, the bonds that tie them
closer than brothers, and the willingness of one to die for another. I think about the long hours at
work, the cramped living quarters and shared showers. I think about long deployments on ships
where three hundred and fifty Sailors and Marines live in a single room. My husband had the
privilege of serving in the United States Marine Corps for eight years, six of which we were
married. I have witnessed the military men and women serve our country to the best of their ability,
enduring endless hardships. I have also heard some service members voice concerns over the idea of

When President Clinton was in office he relaxed the rules that prohibited women from serving near
combat zones. While this gave women a chance to prove themselves in dangerous situations, it also
put the military at risk. During a mission in Bosnia almost five percent of female service members
became pregnant and had to be returned to their home base, leaving the military in the position of
scrambling to find replacements (Belz). According to statistics released by the Navy at least sixteen
percent of women sailors have become pregnant, leading many to term Navy ships as "love boats"
(Belz). If the military is unable to control sexual relations between segregated men and women how
are they supposed to control sexual relations between service members of the same gender? Men
and women are segregated in an attempt to prevent the possibility of sexual relations and sexual
harassement. It would seem to reason that homosexual men would also not be allowed to room with
other men and that the same would apply for homosexual women. The miltary would need to find a
way to separate homosexual service members in order to ensure that sexual relations were not
occuring while on deployment. Separate accomodations based on sexual preference, however,
would be openly discriminatory. These actions would prove to be a logistical and legal nightmare
for the military, but would also

Homosexuals In America
Singer–songwriter Frank Ocean (2011) wrote " I was in a Nissan Maxima...I sat there and told my

my car telling myself it was gonna be fine and to take deep breaths." America's history with those
who conceptualize with different sexual identifications is an interesting one. However, I think it is in
part due to America's resilience and conservative ideals towards fundamental Christian values of
holding a binary heterosexual relationship. Slurs and derogatory terms have influenced America's
adolescents, and weak parental figures have also acted as a cause in the nonexistent correction
concerning this issue. In addition, if America does not begin to recognize that 9 out 10 LGBT
students are being publicly harassed, both mental and physical, then the already high suicide rate

Homosexual Parenting
Group Paper:
Intro:
In the 21st century, we are seeing more and more changes in the family structure in our society;
single parenting, unmarried parents, and an even newer trend––gay parenting. If homosexuals
become parents, what does this information mean to their children? Children learn through watching
their parents, so it's clear that the character of the parent will be reflected in some part on their child.
This common knowledge is exactly what sparks the debate about effects of gay parenting on
children. If children are being raised by parents without traditional gender roles, the children
themselves will challenge the ideals of the stereotypical family. Research has proven that the sexual
orientation of the parents does not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The best parents are those in a stable place in their lives where they can always put their child first.
The toll on the child's life can continue outside of the home as well. A study from Cambridge
University found that children of gay parents feel different than everyone else at a young age and
feel uncomfortable answering questions about their parents. They have fears of being bullied about
their parents, and children who had been bullied reported the school didn't often do much to help
them. (Guasp 5) Young children are already submitted to bullying and teasing at school, and those
with gay parents may feel subjected to more bullying which would affect a child's social abilities
and self–confidence. This issue is not one that the child can change, and with every new school or
group, more questions would have to be answered. B.A. Robinson writes for the Ontario
Consultants of Religious Tolerance that many disagree with same–sex parenting because they
believe children profit by having a male and female influence in their childhood, since men and
women think and act differently. The laws of nature have made a child be born to a man and woman
for a reason. At home, a child should be exposed to a traditional father and mother to better
understand gender relations in society, and their own future role as a man or woman.

Examples Of Discrimination In A Streetcar Named Desire
Back in the 1940's, gender stereotypes existed to a larger extent. Tennessee Williams casts a light on
this issue in his play, "A Streetcar Named Desire" in which he shows how Homosexuals; such as
Blanche's husband Allan Grey was cut from the society. During the 1940's, the concept of
homosexuality was completely unusual and many people termed it to be unethical and almost a
crime (Straight from the Closet). As a result, Allan Grey has been briefly mentioned but he has a
huge role to play in Blanche's mental breakdown and Williams has constantly made his presence felt
through Blanche's character.

Williams makes use of a plastic theatre element; Varsouviana Polka to show how the tragic suicide
of Blanche's husband is still affecting her. In scene 1, when Stanley asks Blanche about her
marriage, there is a faint Varsouviana polka heard (p.31). This stage direction allows the reader to
know that Blanche is brought to reality where she considers herself guilty for her husband's death.
The intensity of this polka tune is more rapid in scene 9, when Mitch confronts Blanche about her
truth (p.113). The purpose of the rapid polka tune is to make it clear in the reader's mind that
Blanche' s illusion of getting married to Mitch as a way to get rid of her past, is brought back to
reality when Mitch refuses her proposal. It also marks the increasing mental collapse as she realizes
it's the end of her illusion and only reality exists. Towards the end, in scene 11, the Varsouviana tune
plays continuously when the doctor and the nurse come to take Blanche to the mental asylum
(p.139). This final act and the Varsouviana playing in the background helps the reader to clearly
recognize the ultimate mental breakdown of Blanche and eventually facing the

We make assumptions about things all the time, and it's not in our nature to take a step back for a

natural for us. So it's our job to make sure our thinking does not completely run on stereotypes and
bias. When I was reading these articles this kind of resonated with me because I was raised muslim,
and in islam the practice of being gay is not allowed. Of Course people who are gay are born that
way but the sin is following through with your temptations and sleeping with another man/women.
Im sure this is the case with other religions, but the people who follow these religions inert their
own ideas and bias. They want to deny the fact that people can be born gay, even though it doesn't
say in the quran that people can't be born gay. So they make up fake stories and write fake articles to
get people to follow their points. If we use our critical thinking we would never fall victim to crazy
stories people make on the internet. Of course we're only human so being rational is out the box, we

The argument is much deeper than whether or not they should be married because they live together.
If same–sex ( homosexuals ) lovers are paying taxes to build roads and help public schools like the

and lesbians of Vermont are using. In the Baker v. Vermont court case, "gay and lesbian lovers had
argued that they were rejected the protection of more than 300 laws as a result of not being allowed

protection under the laws of state strictly because they are gay. In fact, the Vermont House of

that looking at the matter as a legal issue, it is evident that homosexuals are not regarded equally in

However, she does not want to reveal her sexual orientation to the society, rather makes it a secret

is a secret to her and friends. She is not willing to make her sexual orientation known to the people
for fear of victimization by the society members.
Moreover, Lilly is in denial of her sexual orientation at some point. In an attempt to try and be

emotional rejection fuels his attempts to do things that gave the perception of what he was not. "So I
decided, consciously or subconsciously, to construct a trajectory of my life that would remove me
from their company; give me an excuse, provide a dignified way out" (Sullivan). His "dignified way
out" included creative writing, and theatre. He also goes into detail of how some of his fellow
classmates would cover up by joining sport teams, attempting to make themselves fit the norm. This
way he gained respect while still being self–consciously different. More examples of this kind of
stereotyped discrimination is thought out in Brent Staples "Black Men and Public Space". He starts
off with a story of the typical discomforting energy he feels when trailing a white

Pansexual, Transsexual And Homosexuals

  • 1. Pansexual, Transsexual And Homosexuals In today's present day, knowing what sexual orientations there are is important, especially when trying to understand an individual and their life style. There are many different types including being heterosexual, homosexual, bisexual, pansexual, transsexual and transgender. When understanding these individuals, it can also help understand how and why society should treat them properly. Many individuals both heterosexuals and those in the LGBT deserve to be treated fairly, especially when it is about their sexuality. Many of these individuals took their own lives because of the treatment they receive. Being a heterosexual means that an individual that is attracted to the opposite sex. In today's society, the nontechnical term to being a heterosexual is called being straight. According to Statista.com, 98.8% of American men and 97.7% of American women in 2013 consider themselves straight. This shows that, in America, there are more men than women who consider themselves "straight". Homosexuals are men and women who are attracted to the same sex. Homosexual men are called gay and homosexual women are called lesbians. In America, according to Statista.com, 1.5% of women and 1.8% of men consider themselves lesbian or gay. Knowing this it proves also that there were more homosexual men than women in 2013. Many of these men and women were oppressed or treated unfairly because of their sexuality. According to Case Western Reserve University, they state, "more than one–third of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. The Pros And Cons Of Homosexuals Homosexuals have become way more open on television with no shame. Now of days on television it is normalcy to be a homosexual. Ever since the fight for gay rights started, that is when it become more normal and not looked down upon. Not only is there more gay characters on hit television shows, but there are plenty of actors on television shows that are homosexuals in real life. Not only is there more homosexuals, there is also beginning to be a few transgenders that have popped up as well. Some shows that publicly include gay and transgender characters are "Glee," Grey's Anatomy," and "Modern Family"("Gay on Tv: It's All in the Family,"2012). Not only the fiction shows have that, but shows like "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" as well. Their own dad came out to say he wanted to be a girl. He was a major athlete in the Olympics, and he came out. It has been shown that many people have been influenced to come out and be more open with their sexuality, because when they see people on television doing so; they will as well. While it is more open, there are some people who do not support the decisions. The new generations are what have made homosexuality more accepted. The generations such as the "baby boomers" and the "milennials," grew up with homosexuals not being the norm. The social attitudes between those generations and the generation now is so different when it comes to social views("What's Behind Gay Rights attitude Shift,"2015).The past generations have ... • 3. Homosexuals In Australian Film Since the beginning of the Australian film industry Homosexuals have had a certain depiction made of them. One of the first ever Australian films to include the idea of homosexuality is The Set which was released in 1970 (Davidson, 2016). This movie assisted in the set up the stereotype of gays in the Australian film industry. Although, Since the 70's the representation of the minority group of homosexuals has changed drastically in the 21st century. Homosexuals in Australian film are usually made fun of and or are bullied by other the characters. They are often called a range of inappropriate names from 'Poofters' to 'Faggots' and 'Gaylords' in attempts to offend them. Homosexuals are alienated in Australian Film, being treated like a disease that nobody wanted to deal with. In fact, at the beginning of Australian film once a character was in any way associated with a gay character, they also were alienated from the rest of the group. This can be seen in the well know Australian film Priscilla Queen Of The Desert where one of the character stood up for a gay character and his so called mates turned on him as well (IMBD). In the world famous Australian film Crocodile Dundee the main character Mike Dundee comes into contact with a Gay Man dressed a a woman and proceeds to grab his crotch and yell out "That's a man dressed as a woman" in confusion ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In almost all of the past Australian films only Gay men can be seen in film never really gay women. One of the few Australian films that includes the gay women community is The Getting of Wisdom made in 1978 which is a coming of age story of a teenage girl (Buckmaster, 2016). This sparks the idea that perhaps gay women were not included as much in Australian film as they (Filmakers) found it difficult to make fun of them as men dressed as women proved to be a more cause for amusement in Australian ... • 4. Homosexuals In Russia How have the perceptions of homosexuals' rights evolved in Russia from the 1930s to the 1990s? In the 1930s, under the rule of Stalin, Russia was forced into a strict policy of containment against rebellious groups and non–descendants from the nation itself. Proceeding the Russian Revolution, homosexuals were always seen as the unruly minority of the population and were, in fact, commonly identified as the mentally ill. Multiple anti–gay laws were put into place by Stalin for many reasons, some by which were thought to be based on conspiracy theories and others, by religion. Stalin had set the precedent in Russia for many years to come until his death in 1953. Following his death, there was a shift in attitude towards homosexuals, but Russia ... Don't under any circumstances permit them to touch you. Such individuals should quickly be reported to the regulatory organs so they can be expelled from society" (Tuller 82). In spite of these uncommon happenings, many individuals were arrested for homosexuality; government control of homosexuality and oppression of gay rights did not start to gradually unwind until the early 1970s (West 173). • 5. Children of Homosexuals They were high school sweethearts and now on the night of their third wedding anniversary, the topic of having children comes up again. They both agreed they would settle down, with steady careers before they discussed it again. Still madly in love they would love to have a little baby to raise into the world as their own. They aren't allowed to in many places though. Why is this? Is it because of criminal records? No, neither of them had any trouble with the law, except their marriage. They were both women so they were not allowed to have a semi normal life. They could have a cute dog, a nice house with a white picket fence, and nice car but they are not allowed to raise a child. This doesn't make much sense at all. Why can't two women raise a child together? Why can't two men raise a child together? We need to separate beliefs from laws. Not everyone has the same beliefs and opinions. In this case, same–sex couples should be allowed to adopt and raise children. Stephanie Pappas states "Homosexual parents provide open–mindedness to leverence and gender equality." Most parents spend time teaching their children their own beliefs and that certain types of people are not as good as others. The world needs for equality and same–sex parents would teach their children equality without thinking twice (Stephanie Pappas). Robert Jay Green says "There is no negative impact on children from same–sex parenting" (Ellen Friedrich). Everyone has a different home life than each other. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Homosexuals have been treated differently since people have known about them, since they have come out and showed us the real them. Homosexuals, over years have been trying to be treated the same, like everyone else, they have walked through everyone's opinion, through the scientific thoughts about them, through the way they have been treated, through all these years. In 2012 those numbers increased to 60 for those who have a friend or family member that is homosexuality. 50 believe that marriage should be recognized, and 70 realize homosexuality is not a choice (the airspace.com). • 7. Summary: The Homosexual In America After the 19th century European history, we merge into American history. There was close to no studies done up until Post World War II. There was some encouraging growth for gay life that was very much apparent in Greenwich and Harlem in the 1920's and this is also when the community adopted the pink and black triangle. The war allowed for gay men and lesbian women to insert themselves into the war efforts without being constantly chastised. There were efforts to work towards gaining more acknowledgement of this community. One of whom that led for this justice in the 1950's was Senator Joseph McCarthy with his investigation of homosexuals in government positions. • 8. Stereotypical Portrayal Of Homosexuals And The Homophobia... Nussbaum also believes that the stereotypical portrayal of homosexuals and the homophobia towards homosexuals is created by a disgust and that disgust is is what makes minority groups look inferior to majority groups. Nussbaum believes that "projective disgust plays no proper role in arguing for legal regulation, because of the emotion's irrationality and its connection to stigma and hierarchy...Disgust, however, often prevents us from looking for those good reasons, creating the misleading impression that the policy has already been well defended. Turning it to legitimize polices" (Nussbaum, 20). Due to the "politics of disgust," Nussbaum believes that homosexual couples should be given suspect classification unlike the Lawrence v. Texas ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Nussbaum nicely puts it that religion and sexual identity should be a way for people to express themselves because "we may think other people [are] wrong and sinful in matters of the deepest moral importance while yet agreeing that respect for them as an equal citizens requires according them a broad sphere of liberty of both thought and conduct" (Nussbaum, 41). Nussbaum explains through cases of race, gender, and disabilities why these are analogous to the case of sexual orientation. She makes this statement because she believes that "law prohibiting same–sex marriage...are similar to laws against interracial marriage...[since] people are being classified by a trait, and then being denied fundamental opportunities in a wide range of areas because of that trait" (Nussbaum, 44). With disabilities, while the courts have not agreed that injustices towards thee people is an issue on suspect classification, the courts do agree that laws are name by the majority due to disgust or dislike would go against their equal protection (Nussbaum,46–47). The similarities Nussbaum finds between other special groups in the United States makes her argument for why sexuality should be treated the same way as these groups in cases like Lawrence and Griswold. Persecution Against Homosexuals To begin, it is important to note that any active and direct persecution was mostly aimed at homosexual males and not homosexual females because any measures were established to protect fertility, and it was thought that unlike males, females were always ready to procreate (Mitchell 249). Beginning in 1933, most of the attacks were made through raids implemented at different gay bars, and in that same year, one of the most notorious events took place; The Institute for Sexual Science, a research institute which advocated for homosexual rights founded by Magnus Hirschfeld, was burned to the ground along with 10,000 of their books (Crowe 143). For example, by 1936, a special unit called the Reich Central Office for the Combating of Homosexuality and Abortion would be known to persecute not only homosexuals but abortion practitioners with the idea that these two groups' depraved sexuality and were "national diseases" (Mitchell 242). The way his parents reacted is the way a lot of parents react to the point where kids in this society think that's the only reaction people should be having. Arana (2012) addresses how his parents wanted to fix him and turn him back into "normal". She even ended up taking him to see a psychiatrist where his moto is about turning people back into their "normal mindset". However, what exactly is normal? Who legit has the power to determine where the line gets cut? Because after all that hardship Arana went through, he eventually became in control of his thoughts. The nineteenth century denoted an enormous move in social view of sex since science decided to elaborate sex. It was this elaborate, powered by Western compulsion with admission that permitted us to make a, "whole machinery for investigating, speechifying, and analyzing" sex, which formed sexuality. (Foucault 32). This "machinery" did not exist amid past periods in history. We thought of classifications like gay person and hetero as a consequence of this discourse. Sexuality only appeared now because there was more than one class accessible, and procreative sex was no more widely inclusive. Another author, Gayle Rubin, contends in his book, "Thinking Sex", that urbanization was one of the causes of changing thoughts regarding sexuality. In an article about a homosexual student club that was formed on a university campus in Maine, and the state–wide gay conference they wanted to hold on campus, it was found that supporters of the club and their conference (which garnered much controversy) were either homosexual themselves, or were people who were sympathetic to homosexuals and held a belief that people have a right to self–fulfillment (Cohn 1984). The Issue Of The Homosexual Movement If you've been watching the headlines over the last couple years (and especially the last few days), you have undoubtedly noticed the incredible surge of interest in affirming homosexuality. Whether it's at the heart of a religious scandal, political corruption, radical legislation, or the redefinition of marriage, homosexual interests have come to characterize America. That's an indication of the success of the homosexual agenda. And some Christians, including some national church leaders, have wavered on the issue even recently. But sadly, when people refuse to acknowledge the sinfulness of homosexuality–calling evil good and good evil (Isa 5:20)–they do so at the expense of many souls. How should you respond to the success of the homosexual movement? Should you accept the recent trend toward tolerance? Or should you side with those who exclude homosexuals with hostility and disdain? In reality, the Bible calls for a balance between what some people think are two opposing reactions– condemnation and compassion. Really, the two together are essential elements of biblical love, and that's something the homosexual sinner desperately needs. And while the cultural trend of social justice becoming a fad creates the illusion of a more progressive society, the truth of the matter is that the popularity of such movements can be detrimental to the cause because it gives the false appearance of universal acceptance when the stigma against oppressed groups is still prevalent in society. Children learn through watching their parents, so it's clear that the character of the parent will be reflected in some part on their child. They want to deny the fact that people can be born gay, even though it doesn't say in the quran that people can't be born gay. So they make up fake stories and write fake articles to get people to follow their points. If we use our critical thinking we would never fall victim to crazy stories people make on the internet. • 31. Should Homosexuals Be Equal? "Jayvier! By the way I heard her voice I knew something was wrong. It was like hearing an angry lion roaring. As I walked upstairs in fear I did not know what to expect. My heart pounding as if it was going to jump right out of my chest. I walked like a slug, counting every step wondering what I had done". The whole house started to feel depressed. The door swung open with great force. My mother was standing by her bed and the expression on her face was as if she saw her worst enemy. "Are you gay"? The answer took her my surprise and changed both of our lives forever. After that, she turned into scourge and it made the house hell. The remainder of the year raced by, but she could not see that homosexuals are equal to heterosexuals. Even though homosexuals are more accepted in today's society, we are still discriminated through religious views, constantly getting stereotyped, and unable to create the family that we want. When my mom found out that her son was gay she was boiling mad, her first reaction was "you know that being gay is a sin and will not be able to enter the gates of heaven". In today's society, everyone is stuck on the thought process that if a person is homosexual they are automatically going to hell. My anger flew to a certain extent. Although in the bible it says "Leviticus 18:22, you shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female; it is an abomination". That's interesting that it says that because also in the book of Leviticus it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Homosexual Memo I decided to choose Joe because as a fellow Caucasian male, I more closely felt how he felt more than I did with the two girls from foreign countries and the two African–American males. Although I am not homosexual, being white made me feel his story more. I can't relate to being a racial minority. Being a homosexual person today requires you to adapt. To adapt means to change your behavior to accommodate what others are doing. Although more and more people are opening up to the thought of same–sex marriage and all that, there are still a lot of people who oppose it and think that it is immoral. So people, who have feelings like Joe, have to adapt if they want to fit in to the societies of America. Societies are groups of people who share common ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The people who stereotype these people have obviously never gotten to meet the people who they stereotype. I can tell you that not every person who isn't white is bad. People have to realize that white people can be bad too. I guarantee that other cultures think we are bad because of what some crazy white people have done. I agree with what Vera said. In every culture there are extremists. The same goes for white people. Not every African–American is a bad person, not every Arab is a terrorist. I think if people got to know what these people actually stood for and the type of people they are, then racism would be ridden from our country. But until then, we will never be a good society. For me personally, when my friend moved to Iowa from Vietnam back in 3rd grade, I wasn't terrified, I didn't question the things he stood for or any of that. Honestly, I thought it was cool that he didn't know much English. I wanted to learn about the Vietnamese language and all the things they do over there that were different from us. • 35. Obstacles For Homosexuals From a religious point of view, if God had thought homosexuality is a sin, he would not have created gay people by Howard Dean. Homosexuals have had a hard time coming out and making that first step to accepting themselves in society or religious community. The other steps to actually come out is for their peers, family, and friends to accept them as well into their lives. There are many obstacles for homosexuals as they reach the point to coming out and as it relates to Judaism. According to information published by The Jewish People Policy Planning Institute, there were around 13.1 million Jewish people in the world in 2007, most residing in the USA and Israel. This is only one example of how the government's refusal to recognize same–sex ( homosexuals ) marriages denies homosexuals rights that are supposedly protected by the state. The ones who suffer the greatest repercussions of such prejudices are the children of gay and lesbian lovers. Non–biological children of gays and lesbians cannot receive survivor benefits if the deceased the love of their life did not legally adopt them. If same–sex ( homosexuals ) lovers are paying taxes to build roads and help public schools like the heterosexual lovers, they should be provided the same rights. This is the exact argument the gays and lesbians of Vermont are using. In the Baker v. Vermont court case, "gay and lesbian lovers had argued that they were rejected the protection of more than 300 laws as a result of not being allowed to marry" (Meredith 1). Homosexuals are finally suing the state because they are not receiving protection under the laws of state strictly because they are gay. In fact, the Vermont House of Representatives voted in favor (76–69) of a same–sex ( homosexuals ) civil union bill. This shows that looking at the matter as a legal issue, it is evident that homosexuals are not regarded equally in the eyes of the law, and that the first steps to fix this social injustice are just now being taken; however, the controversy is still obvious as the vote is very close . The Director of Education for the Human Rights campaign state, "It's a big step in the right direction...while its no full marriage, it's very close." same–sex ( homosexuals ) civil unions are clearing the path for nation–wide legal recognition of same–sex ( homosexuals ) relationships. He paints a detailed portrait of the hardships caused by being homosexual. He explains the struggle of self–concealment, and how doing so is vital for social acceptation. The ability to hide one's true feelings make it easier to be "invisible" as Sullivan puts it. "The experience of growing up profoundly different in emotional and psychological makeup inevitably alters a person's self–perception."(Sullivan)This statement marks one of the many reasons for this concealment. This term is based on the assumption that we as a whole understand differences in color, race, and sexuality. However, this portrays the idea that we truly understand homosexuality; in reality we have not. The more this term is analyzed the more society will stamp homosexuals for being "diverse". Which they would like to few equal. Sullivan explains, "But as obsession with diversity intensifies, the possibility of real difference alarms and terrifies all the more. They are marginalized as "stereotypes"". This fact demonstrates how homosexuality will be considered different no matter what day in age. Sullivan speaks of a homosexuals' desire to cover–up. His own personal feel of emotional rejection fuels his attempts to do things that gave the perception of what he was not. "So I decided, consciously or subconsciously, to construct a trajectory of my life that would remove me from their company; give me an excuse, provide a dignified way out" (Sullivan). His "dignified way out" included creative writing, and theatre. He also goes into detail of how some of his fellow classmates would cover up by joining sport teams, attempting to make themselves fit the norm. This way he gained respect while still being self–consciously different. More examples of this kind of stereotyped discrimination is thought out in Brent Staples "Black Men and Public Space".
