Essay Schwinn Bicycles Marketing Case Analysis
1. What are the strengths and weaknesses of Schwinn? What opportunities and threats face the
company?
A. Strengths
a. Schwnn brand is known for quality with more than 100 years experience manufacturing bicycles.
b. Schwinn is under new management with vision and direction. This new management is not afraid
to compete within the high end target market.
c. Schwinn can offer high end consumers the prestige of "Handmade in the USA."
d. Under new management Schwinn has streamlined their manufacturing process to greatly reduce
cost.

e. Specialty bike shops display Schwinn alongside its competitors. Consumers have a side by side
comparative selection. Schwinn only bicycle stores are no longer attractive to bicycle consumers.
f. Bicycle market are well developed within Western countries.
2. What evaluative criteria are used in purchasing bikes? Is the country of manufacturer effect
important for mountain bikes?
A. Bicycle consumers evaluate bicycles for their technology to include low weight, durable, stylish,
and performance. Consumers are also concerned about price and service. Also the demographic of
peer ownership will influence consumer purchasing criteria. Clearly the college in Colorado had a
few select brands. Some manufacturers are fortunate to capture these traits within their brand. Trek
has successfully secured 24% of the market and is a respected brand.
B. If Schwinn is able to successfully market mountain biking as truly American than "Made in
America" will positively impact consumer purchasing. As with automotive purchases, consumers of
bicycles are driven to purchase the product that best meets their needs. Country of origin matters
greatly when the quality is lacking. Schwinn will need to market American made the whole time
knowing most of their bicycle frames are made outside of America.
3. Evaluate Schwinn's downward stretching strategy of selling bikes for prices from $100 to 2,500.
How does a downward stretch impact the marketing mix? What are the pros and

Persuasive Narrative Essay
It was my last memory from my class at Meadowbrook, the school's right of passage at the end of
the 8th grade year: ziplining in Costa Rica. I felt my stomach tighten as I took a step up to the first
platform, took one last deep breath, and jumped. The violent, Costa Rican air whipped around me,
spinning my body in a circle like a helicopter blade. I tirelessly squeezed the handlebar with the
rough, sandpaper gloves like my life depended on it. Ironically, at the time, I thought it did. I was
mortified. After helplessly spinning around for about a minute, I crashed into the end of the line and
nervously unhooked my harness. One down, seven to go. The next line began similarly to the first
one. I leaped off the platform hesitantly, but the wind had died down and I was able to relax. I gazed
across the seemingly endless lush, green landscapes of the Costa Rican mountain ranges in awe.
Still choke holding the handlebar, I was not comfortable in the slightest. I left the third platform just
a second quicker feeling slightly more secure in the harness. This time, I released the handlebar,
leaving my doubts and worries behind. I was about as content as I could possibly be given the
circumstances, dangling thousands of feet up in the air in the mountains, supported by a jaded
wooden rope an inch in diameter. Two summers ago, I trotted onto the 18th green, up one stroke in
the tournament. It felt incredible, all my hard work was finally going to pay off. I had a 2 foot putt
with no break, a putt I could make a million times over in my sleep. I placed my hands onto my
putter as they gradually started to shake and tremble. I felt my stomach tighten as I realized this
"gimme" putt was nothing I could have ever prepared for. I was ready to get my first tournament
win. My hands still wavering, I brought the putter straight back and through. It felt like an eternity
as my ball inched closer and closer toward the hole. But instead of reveling in the clink as the ball
hit the bottom of the hole, the ball took a left hand turn, hit the edge of the cup, and settled a measly
inch or two from the hole. I tapped in and walked away, devastated that I had just lost the
tournament. It was as if my countless hours of preparation had

Sole Elliptical E35 review and personal experiance
One of the main reasons you want to seriously consider the Sole Elliptical E35 is it's all about
reliability and quality. For the price you are not going to find a more low maintenance cross–trainer.
I personally have owned a Sole elliptical for over 3 years, and other than occasionally lubricating
the railings, I have had NO problems.
There are other factors that make the Sole Elliptical E35 a "Best Buy" including the stability,
ergonomic features and the challenging workout. This newly released model has Bluetooth

Long Smooth 20″–22″ Stride Length – I found the 20″–22″ stride to be smooth and comfortable. If
you are under 5'5″ you may want to consider a machine with with a smaller stride. However, this is
an ideal stride length for average to above average users. The stride is elongated, which is what you
want with an elliptical. Cheaper units will often have an 18″ stride with a flywheel weighing
considerably less. The result is a choppy circular motion that requires lifting your knees. It's not as
comfortable and consequently you'll probably exercise less and getting fewer results.
Adjustable Foot pedals– To add to your comfort level the Sole Elliptical E35 is designed with
articulating foot pedals. They angle with the elliptical motion. To increase your comfort level, you
can manually make further adjustments to the angle of the pedals. If you have flat feet or higher
arches, you can adjust the pedals to an ideal angle that will further reduce stress and potential

Tanner-Personal Narrative
On a Sunday morning in Green Township, I was going quading with my friend Tanner. I woke up
and had breakfast. After breakfast, I took a shower then I waited for them to show up. Sure enough
Tanner came with the quads on the back of the truck all ready to be used. I got in the car and Tanner
was silent. His dad was talking to me about football It was a nice conversation that felt like it went
on and on and on until we finally got the farm. It was a chilly day, so we grabbed a sweatshirt and
gloves from the back of the truck. I jumped out of the truck and felt the dirt against my feet. the cold
breeze hit me, I inhaled a stench that was farm–like, the smell of animal poop mixed with sweaty
people. I heard the cows mooing and the pigs oinking ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I was curious about why I would need goggles. I said no thank you. We started the quads and we let
them sit while they warmed up. We walked around then they were ready to go. Then I started riding.
I realized why I needed the googles, the cold breeze whipped my eyes and stung so badly that
immediately I went back and got the goggles. I said to Tanner's dad now I know why I needed the
googles. I went around the little field that we were riding in it was very bumpy and we started going
faster as we new the place better. It became more fun than we thought it would be. and here comes
the bad part. We started playing a game sorta like cops and robbers but better tanners quad was
faster than mine so I would try to ride away from him and he would try to catch me. He would make
me stop kind of like pull me over and then he would pull me over and then pull in front of my quad
but I would kick I into reverse and run away so we played this for like a half an hour. We kept on
but this time I was running and I was going top speed and I fell straight into a ditch About 3 feet
high and I went straight over the handlebars my sweatshirt pocket got stuck on the handlebar and
ripped. The string of my sweatshirt wrapped around the handle bar and got stuck in a not. I was
laying with my sweatshirt strangling the quad kept on moving I thought I was going to get run over
by the quad but tanners dad stopped it just in time and he got me

such as leaning on the handlebars of a bike. In other cases, pressure can have an internal cause, such
as:
A tumor or cyst.
A fracture or an aneurysm of the ulnar nerve.

Personal Narrative: How To Put On A New Tire
Before I tell teach how to put on a new tire, I will explain how my first time was disaster putting a
new bike tire and inner tube on. Well, the first time I tried to put on a new bike tire and inner tube I
was 12 and I had no idea what I was doing. I tried to flip the bike over and I just kept trying and
trying and I could not do it, until I realized that the handlebars were not facing the right way. I tried
to loosen the bolt that were on the side of the frame by the tire and I couldn't do because they were
tight. When I got the tire off and the tube out, I started putting in new the new tube and tire. I was
using the tire levers to put in the tire and when I was do so, I accidentally made a hole in tube
because I shoved the tire lever in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After getting the new inner tube and tire, flip the bike over so that it is now standing on the seat and
handlebar. Then unscrew the two bolt on the side of frame on the bike. Next take the rim which is
the big circle metal piece that has the tire on it. Thereafter take out the air from the tire by press the
little button that looks like a little circle inside the valves of the tire with a flathead screwdriver.
Soon after squeeze the tire together all around the rim so that there is enough space to put the tire
lever in the space between the tire and rim. Subsequently take a couple of tire levers which is a piece
of plastic that is flat on the back and sticks out in the front and take the tire out of the rim. Next take
the inner tube out off the rim. Then take the new tube and tire out of it box or cover. After put the
inner tube on the rim to see the placement. Alongside fill the tube up with some air. Then put the
new tire on the rim and it will be outside of the rim but little by little using the tire lever put little
parts of the new tire in the rim. Next put the tire back into the bikes frame and have correct
placement which is when the rim doesn't touch the brake pads or the frame. Screw the bolts back on,
so the tire doesn't fall off when the tire is rolling. Now go for a test ride and see if it feels different or
if the brakes work

Four Wheeler Research Paper
A four–wheeler makes me feel happy and it all started in the month of October of 2010, because my
dad taught me how to ride one. Seeing this brand–new, blue four–wheeler in my yard when I first
got it was a feeling of celebrating Christmas all over again. It was covered in a very shiny, blue
coating with silver and black all around the chain and exhaust. I will never forget the new
handlebars and tires that looked like they just got polished that reminded me of the fresh smell of
exhaust. Having my hands on the handlebars, revving up the throttle, felt like I had enough power to
go to the moon. I remember my family and I finishing our yummy, grilled peanut–butter sandwiches
that my dad would always cook. I walked out outside, it was a beautiful, sunny day on a Saturday. It
was about 70 degrees. The breeze felt amazing like you could just be outside for hours. Kids were
outside playing on their play sets, seeming to not have a worry in the day. I've always wanted
something that I could actually ride instead of just a fake four–wheeler that little kids had. When I
first got one, I of course begged and begged my dad to take me for a spin. I wanted to learn, and I
was very happy to get to ride this big, blue bike. He was always busy, but he made ... Show more

Toy Development Essay
There is a great deal about this toy that promotes the development of gross motor skills. Gross motor
skills are defined as larger movements that a child makes with their body. The action of getting on
and off the toy allows the child gross movement of their lower extremities. The child must be able to
widely abduct the hip as well as possibly flex the knee. This same motion would be done with both
getting on and off the car. The child's ability to move the handlebars to make the front two wheels of
the car move would also be a gross motor task. This movement could be done one of two ways: the
extension of the child's shoulders followed by flexion and extension at the elbows or extension of

opportunities. This action requires movement of the upper extremities and would involve the child's
shoulder and arm. Lastly, the most obvious way that the child would receive gross motor

`` Handlebars `` By Flobots And Hitler 's Book
There is a great difference between coming to the realization of your own potential and actually
putting it to use. All over the world, although mostly in more developed countries, revolutions and
amazing discoveries have been caused by single human beings that are being active about their
knowledge. Some people are more passive about their ability to use their higher–level thinking
skills, though. It is intimidating to think of the power that dominant individuals have had in the past,
such as influencing people's thinking and controlling their lives or making significant advancements
and saving numerous lives. The song "Handlebars" by Flobots and Hitler's book, Mein Kampf, both
exhibit a sense of power, ability to influence people's thinking, and a lack of self–control that lead to
the more detrimental path of using one's knowledge and potential.
One of Adolf Hitler's main points throughout his book was how Germans are superior to every other
race and how Nazi's should be in complete power. He believed that the Aryan race was perfect, and
even encouraged women to bear as many children of this race as they could. He even goes to the
extent where he describes what the perfect person looks like, which consisted of pale skin, blue
eyes, etc. With this, he concluded that Jews and Gypsies were the most racially inferior with full
plans to eliminate them. Writing this book while in jail, being incarcerated for trying to seize
southern Germany, he must have been extremely confident

Freshman Engineering Projects: Course Analysis
Designing has been a major aspect of my career as an engineering student. One of my most notable
moments of design was my Freshman Engineering Projects course. In this class I designed a
handlebar light for bikes with the goal of making it both more economical than and superior to
current designs. Working in a group with three others, we set out to make a light that would be more
robust, secure, and safer than current products on the market. The process began with three rough
ideas of where we wanted to go and through many iterations of tweaking, testing, and prototyping
we narrowed our plan down to one final design. Throughout the time we took preparing our final
product we always had the cyclists we were making the product for in mind. ... Show more content

One of the more unethical mistakes we made was presenting a very rough and untested prototype as
a finished product. We were able to hide wires and components as well as use theoretical numbers as
opposed to real–life tests which would likely have far inferior results. Using theoretical numbers for
battery life and brightness could have been very misleading and presented our project in a way
which made it appear better than it really could be. Also, by operating the device ourselves we were
able to work around code bugs that would be obviously apparent to a user who didn't know the
tricks. Although this wasn't unlawful or intentionally misleading, the covering up of the truth is
often considered unethical on a personal, and sometimes social level. Many don't see a difference
from leaving out facts and flat out lying and thus would see this as a very unethical presentation. By
doing this our group potentially put ourselves at risk of drumming up interest in something that was
unrealistic. These unethical decisions may have been in the best interest for our small group, but
sharing more truthful information probably would have been the more ethical

Daddy clips the bike helmet below my chin and slips on the knee and elbow pads, while mommy
fiddles with the video camera on the side walk. I mount my tiny bike as if it was valiant horse, and
playfully twist the handle bars back and forth like revving a motorcycle. The most glorious moment,
is when dad finally lets go of the bike and I pedal down the street, the glittery streamers flowing
from my handle bars. I no longer have my parents steadying the bike making sure that I don't topple
over. I am completely on my own maneuvering this machine. After a child adapts to riding a bike,
they start to experiment with the bikes capabilities. They ride the bike backwards, try fancy tricks at
the skate park, and completely take their hands off the handle bars. However, should a child ride
their bike with no handle bars, risking having complete control of their bike and their safety just
because they can? In the music video "Handlebars," the Flobots utilize the functionality of visual art
and dynamic symbolism to effectively describe how people's greed and power can shadow the true
potential and talent that an individual possesses, disconnecting them from the people that genuinely
care about them. The Flobots is a well known alternative rock and rap band from Denver, Colorado,
consisting of musical artists: Jamie Laurie, Stephen Brackett, Andy Guerrero (guitar), Mackenzie

If you know the things that can cause bicycle saddle sore, you can surely avoid this biking
discomfort and have a more enjoyable and comfortable experience.
If your bike fits you just fine, the following bicycle fit faults may be the root of bicycle saddle sore:
1. Poor Saddle
A poor saddle is the most common cause of bicycle saddle sore. Some bike seats are too cushy and
some are too hard. A saddle that is too soft (with too much gel or padding) will make you sink down
from the weight of your sit bones. This causes the mid part of your bike seat to push up and place
additional pressure on your soft tissues.
Most of the time, a firmer saddle can be better especially for longer rides. A good bike seat for
women should have good padding for the sit bones. Having a split or a groove is said to provide
more comfort as it relieves pressure on the perineum and improves blood circulation. It is important
for the cut–out to extend forward to move pressure on the right area. A female–specific saddle is
important for most women. Bikes

Toy Stimulates The Child With A Great Deal Of Muscle Tone...
This toy would facilitate a child with a great deal of muscle tone development. Muscle tone is the
amount tension in a muscle during rest. This toy stimulates the child to develop muscle tone though
the actions of sitting on the floor in front of the toy, sitting upright on top of the toy, keeping their
hands on the handlebars or the lid of the compartment to keep it open and keeping their legs down
and on the ground when sitting on the car. To play with this toy while in sitting, either in the front of
the car or to the side to play with the buttons on the dashboard, the child needs to maintain an
upright posture. This upright posture allows the child to be at the proper eye level and also allows
their hands to be at toy level as well. This also applies to when the child is sitting on the toy; for the
child to get the most benefit out of the buttons, keys, knob, lever and handlebars, the child needs to
be sitting in the upright position on the toy. The child's muscle tone development can also be
encouraged by maintaining a gross grasp on the handlebars as well as extended shoulders to
maintain the proper arm position. This also applies when the child must hold the lid of the seat open
to place objects inside or to look inside. Lastly, the child must be able to keep their legs stable on
either side of the car while sitting on it. Tone is needed for this skill so that the child can maintain
their position as well as stabilize themselves. The child could be stabilizing

Research Paper On Mobility Scooter
INTRODUCTION:
A mobility scooter is a mobility aid similar to a wheelchair but configured like a motor scooter. It is
often referred to a power operated vehicle or electric scooter.
A mobility scooter has a seat over two rear wheels, a flat area for the feet and handlebars in front to
turn one or two steerable wheels. The seat may swivel to allow access when the front is blocked by
the handlebars. Mobility scooters are usually battery powered. A battery or two is stored on board
the scooter and is charged via an onboard or separate battery charger unit from standard electric
power. Gasoline–powered scooters are also available; through they are rapidly being replaced by
electric models.
Assistive and small sit–down motor scooters provide important advantages to people with mobility
problems throughout the world. A scooter is useful for persons without the stamina or arm/shoulder
flexibility necessary to use a manual wheelchair. Also, swiveling the seat of an electric scooter is
generally easier than moving conventional wheelchairs. A mobility scooter is very helpful for
persons with systemic or whole–body disabling conditions who are still able to stand and walk a few
steps, sit upright without torso support and control the steering tiller.

Childhood Creative Writing
Throughout younger years I marveled at my older brothers more than anyone, always admiring their
courageous confidence and not to mention, sense of adventure. Yet, I found myself envious of the
countless obstacles they had overcome that I had not, especially when it came to riding our bikes.
Being the youngest didn't help any either, I was constantly competing with them and demanding to
have the upper hand. For some reason, though, it seemed impossible. My house has a steep, lengthy
gravel driveway that twists and turns in all directions. Watching my brothers over the years as they

to ever do it. As I stood at the top hill with my bike and a million thoughts running through my head.
Pleased with myself that I was finally going to do it. This is it, at a slow, gradual pace I started to
pedal at an agonizing slowness. Beads of sweat poured down my forehead. Realizing how
frightened I actually was, I no longer want to go. Never the less, It was too late. Quickly picking up
speed, as I zipped down the driveway. Suddenly, all control was gone, the gavel was too loose.
Trying to stop, I squeezed the brakes as tight as I possibly could. Nothing seemed to matter though,
no longer did I have control of my bicycle. Drifting from side to side, I'd never felt so much panic
and fear in my life. All of the sudden my tire struck a large rock that was sticking up and sending me
barreling over the handlebars, onto the jagged gravel, the bike still clutched tight in my grip. As I
was falling, the though to let go of the handlebars never occurred to me until it was too late and the
bike landed on top of my ribcage. Pain shot through my body. What I feared most was no longer a

Music Analysis: Flobots Handlebars Essay
It has always been argued that nature, nurture, or both affect human development. In Flobots'
"Handlebars", the lead singer answers the question of whether nature, nurture, or both affect human
development by showing two best friends who went their separate paths and turned into two
completely different people. The music video and song shows and tells the experiences that shaped
both friends and ultimately caused the demise of one, if not, both of them. However, within this
song and video the power of the government, namely the American government and politics is
criticized; also power plays a big role in what occurs within the video. In Flobots' "Handlebars," the

He enjoyed working on projects that had a social impact; which makes sense because "Handlebars"
showed how the society could affect a person and how that person's choices could affect society.
Since the song was originally written in 2005, and then re appeared in the Fight With Tools album it
makes sense that the song would by influenced by the war America was fighting in Iraq at the time.
In 2003 the Bush administration decided to invade Iraq, and from then on until the present many
Americans and non–Americans have died as a result of wartime violence. Even though the war went
on many Americans really started to question the reason why the war was still going on if the
weapons of mas destruction were already found, the reason given for the invasion of Iraq. Some also
questioned the entire reason for the war; according to a MSNBC Documentary, "Some of the most
senior officials in the U.S. government, including President Bush himself, Vice President Dick
Cheney and Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, asserted these claims in public with absolute
confidence, even while privately, ranking U.S. military officers and intelligence professionals were
voicing their doubts"(" How the Bush Administration Sold the Iraq War"). However, the people did
nothing and the war continued. The song was meant for people who wanted to change what is

Essay about Mountain Biking
Mountain Biking
I have come to love bicycles in the course of the past year. I am especially fond of mountain bikes,
including my own. Riding it opens up a whole new world of opportunities and challenges for me. I
am still fairly fresh to the whole mountain biking scene, so I push myself to become better with
more experience. Riding is an outlet; it is something I can channel pent up energy through. I love the
sport because it is a full body, soul, and mind experience that affects all five of the senses.

After moving for a while, I hit my first hill and fire seems to take ever my legs as I push myself to
my limits. As the trail continues to move underneath me, I begin to hear the bike. As I hit a water bar
or a drop–off I hat the clinking of my tools in their case on the side of the bike. Then I notice how
the chain smacks against the frame on a particularly rough terrain. When I feel confident enough, I
will hear the rear wheel skidding across the dirt, as I pull a nice speed slide through a turn. After my
body is somewhat numb to what I am sensing, I begin to notice new awareness of other sensations.
Now that I have been on the bike for a while, I am rather saturated with perspiration. I can now taste
the sweat as it rolls down my face, picking up dirt as it goes, and then mixing with my saliva on my
lips, and then into my parched mouth. I reach for my bottle of water to quench my thirst. The water
is warm, because of the sun beating down on it. I pour it into my mouth and across my face as I slow
down my pace to keep from crashing. The water's taste is not spectacular, because of its temperature
and the mud caked on the spout of the bottle. To the hot and tired rider like me, its flavor is
wonderful. Lastly, I start to notice the smells of riding on the trail. As my blood is stripped of its

Personal Narrative On An Off-Road Race
About a year ago, I went to an off–road race here in Parker. I went to the race with some friends who
were flaggers and one of the emergency response teams. Our job was to take the times for the racers
that went by and assist them if they broke down. The race lasted two days. Overall the race was fun,
untill I hit a ditch going 25 mph on a ATV. With no helmet or any kind of safety gear. The night
before my crash, we went all over the track and looked for hazards and marked them for both the
racers and ERTs (Emergency Response Teams).Later that night, we went over the safety procedures

How to Drive a Dirt Bike
Have you ever wondered how people on dirtbikes keep their balance while going at such fast speeds
and riding in mud and dirt? Have you ever wondered if you would be able to ride a dirt bike? You
can learn how to dirt bike by used these four steps kickstarting, clutch and shifting, riding, and
braking. These four steps should help you learn how to ride a dirt bike.
To start a dirt bike up you will need to know how to use the kickstarter and when to use the choke. A
choke is used to limit the amount of air that goes into the carburetors while it is cold out. You are
probably used to a car where you just need a key to turn it on, while on a dirtbike you need to
kickstart it for it to run. To kick start you need to be in neutral and have the clutch in. To insure that
you don't hurt yourself have your ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Balancing on a dirt bike is a lot like riding a bicycle but is is bigger and weighs more. A dirtbike can
weigh between 150 pounds and 250 plus pounds so you will want to learn how to control the bike so
you don't get hurt. You may need to move your body around to find your perfect balancing point for
different kinds of riding. For example some times you might need to stand up, sit down or lean side
to side. If you are stuck in mud you might need to shift your weight around to get out. With turning
there are two different ways to turn. The two ways are counter turning and using the handlebars to
turn. While going fast you should probably counter steer by leaning to turn the bike because if you
turned the handlebars to much you would probably have a higher chance at crashing. While going

Essay on The Physics of Motorcycle Roadracing
Despite what some people may think, motorcycle roadracing is not only a highly strenuous sport,
but there is much more involved than just twisting the throttle and turning the handlebars. There are
a number of powerful forces working on the bike and the rider. There is, of course, the downward
pull of gravity, friction between the tires and the track, and centrifugal force which acts to the
outside of the turn. The key to cornering at high speeds is to perfect the lean angle of the motorcycle
so that the force of gravity reaches equilibrium with the centrifugal force attempting to stand the
bike back up. If the bike is leaned to far, it falls over. If it is not leaned far enough, centrifugal force
pulls it back up and the turn is not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, the rider would push on the left handlebar (turning the bars to the right) in order to
make a left turn. This may seem like a foreign concept at first, but it makes sense in the context of
gyroscopic motion. Consider a bicycle wheel:
The effects of gyroscopic precession can be felt when the wheel is held by the axle in the position
shown, spun, and then turned sharply to the left or right. If the wheel is turned to the left, the top
will twist to the right, pushing the bottom to the left. The same applies to a motorcycle when the
wheels are spinning very quickly and the machine is turned. Turning the handlebars to the left would
force the top of the wheel to move to the right, thus leaning the motorcycle in the opposite direction
that the wheel was turned.
The equation for this motion of the wheel is
T=IWv
where T is the torque, I is the moment of inertia, v is the wheel speed, and W is the angular velocity
of the turn. This equation relies on the conservation of the wheel's angular momentum.(Sport Rider
2002)
Steering Method #2: Body Steering
The concept of body steering relies on the rider's shifts in weight and pressure application on
various parts of the motorcycle to turn it. Theoretically, one could turn a bike without ever touching
the handlebars simply by shifting body weight. For example, to turn the bike to the left, the rider
could simply

Specialty bike shops display Schwinn alongside its competitors. Consumers have a side by side comparative selection. Schwinn only bicycle stores are no longer attractive to bicycle consumers. f. Bicycle market are well developed within Western countries. 2. What evaluative criteria are used in purchasing bikes? Is the country of manufacturer effect important for mountain bikes? A. Bicycle consumers evaluate bicycles for their technology to include low weight, durable, stylish, and performance. Consumers are also concerned about price and service. Also the demographic of peer ownership will influence consumer purchasing criteria. Clearly the college in Colorado had a few select brands. Some manufacturers are fortunate to capture these traits within their brand. Trek has successfully secured 24% of the market and is a respected brand. B. If Schwinn is able to successfully market mountain biking as truly American than "Made in America" will positively impact consumer purchasing. As with automotive purchases, consumers of bicycles are driven to purchase the product that best meets their needs. Country of origin matters greatly when the quality is lacking. Schwinn will need to market American made the whole time knowing most of their bicycle frames are made outside of America. 3. Evaluate Schwinn's downward stretching strategy of selling bikes for prices from $100 to 2,500. How does a downward stretch impact the marketing mix? What are the pros and ... • 3. Persuasive Narrative Essay It was my last memory from my class at Meadowbrook, the school's right of passage at the end of the 8th grade year: ziplining in Costa Rica. I felt my stomach tighten as I took a step up to the first platform, took one last deep breath, and jumped. The violent, Costa Rican air whipped around me, spinning my body in a circle like a helicopter blade. I tirelessly squeezed the handlebar with the rough, sandpaper gloves like my life depended on it. Ironically, at the time, I thought it did. I was mortified. After helplessly spinning around for about a minute, I crashed into the end of the line and nervously unhooked my harness. One down, seven to go. The next line began similarly to the first one. I leaped off the platform hesitantly, but the wind had died down and I was able to relax. I gazed across the seemingly endless lush, green landscapes of the Costa Rican mountain ranges in awe. Still choke holding the handlebar, I was not comfortable in the slightest. I left the third platform just a second quicker feeling slightly more secure in the harness. This time, I released the handlebar, leaving my doubts and worries behind. I was about as content as I could possibly be given the circumstances, dangling thousands of feet up in the air in the mountains, supported by a jaded wooden rope an inch in diameter. Two summers ago, I trotted onto the 18th green, up one stroke in the tournament. It felt incredible, all my hard work was finally going to pay off. I had a 2 foot putt with no break, a putt I could make a million times over in my sleep. I placed my hands onto my putter as they gradually started to shake and tremble. I felt my stomach tighten as I realized this "gimme" putt was nothing I could have ever prepared for. I was ready to get my first tournament win. My hands still wavering, I brought the putter straight back and through. It felt like an eternity as my ball inched closer and closer toward the hole. But instead of reveling in the clink as the ball hit the bottom of the hole, the ball took a left hand turn, hit the edge of the cup, and settled a measly inch or two from the hole. I tapped in and walked away, devastated that I had just lost the tournament. It was as if my countless hours of preparation had ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Long Smooth 20″–22″ Stride Length – I found the 20″–22″ stride to be smooth and comfortable. If you are under 5'5″ you may want to consider a machine with with a smaller stride. However, this is an ideal stride length for average to above average users. The stride is elongated, which is what you want with an elliptical. Cheaper units will often have an 18″ stride with a flywheel weighing considerably less. The result is a choppy circular motion that requires lifting your knees. It's not as comfortable and consequently you'll probably exercise less and getting fewer results. Adjustable Foot pedals– To add to your comfort level the Sole Elliptical E35 is designed with articulating foot pedals. They angle with the elliptical motion. To increase your comfort level, you can manually make further adjustments to the angle of the pedals. • 11. Tanner-Personal Narrative On a Sunday morning in Green Township, I was going quading with my friend Tanner. I woke up and had breakfast. After breakfast, I took a shower then I waited for them to show up. Sure enough Tanner came with the quads on the back of the truck all ready to be used. I got in the car and Tanner was silent. His dad was talking to me about football It was a nice conversation that felt like it went on and on and on until we finally got the farm. He would make me stop kind of like pull me over and then he would pull me over and then pull in front of my quad but I would kick I into reverse and run away so we played this for like a half an hour. We kept on but this time I was running and I was going top speed and I fell straight into a ditch About 3 feet high and I went straight over the handlebars my sweatshirt pocket got stuck on the handlebar and ripped. The string of my sweatshirt wrapped around the handle bar and got stuck in a not. Well, the first time I tried to put on a new bike tire and inner tube I was 12 and I had no idea what I was doing. I tried to flip the bike over and I just kept trying and trying and I could not do it, until I realized that the handlebars were not facing the right way. Subsequently take a couple of tire levers which is a piece of plastic that is flat on the back and sticks out in the front and take the tire out of the rim. Next take the inner tube out off the rim. Then take the new tube and tire out of it box or cover. After put the inner tube on the rim to see the placement. Alongside fill the tube up with some air. Then put the new tire on the rim and it will be outside of the rim but little by little using the tire lever put little parts of the new tire in the rim. Next put the tire back into the bikes frame and have correct placement which is when the rim doesn't touch the brake pads or the frame. Screw the bolts back on, so the tire doesn't fall off when the tire is rolling. Now go for a test ride and see if it feels different or if the brakes work ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 20. Four Wheeler Research Paper A four–wheeler makes me feel happy and it all started in the month of October of 2010, because my dad taught me how to ride one. Seeing this brand–new, blue four–wheeler in my yard when I first got it was a feeling of celebrating Christmas all over again. It was covered in a very shiny, blue coating with silver and black all around the chain and exhaust. I will never forget the new handlebars and tires that looked like they just got polished that reminded me of the fresh smell of exhaust. Having my hands on the handlebars, revving up the throttle, felt like I had enough power to go to the moon. I remember my family and I finishing our yummy, grilled peanut–butter sandwiches that my dad would always cook. I walked out outside, it was a beautiful, sunny day on a Saturday. It was about 70 degrees. The breeze felt amazing like you could just be outside for hours. Kids were outside playing on their play sets, seeming to not have a worry in the day. All over the world, although mostly in more developed countries, revolutions and amazing discoveries have been caused by single human beings that are being active about their knowledge. Some people are more passive about their ability to use their higher–level thinking skills, though. It is intimidating to think of the power that dominant individuals have had in the past, such as influencing people's thinking and controlling their lives or making significant advancements and saving numerous lives. The song "Handlebars" by Flobots and Hitler's book, Mein Kampf, both exhibit a sense of power, ability to influence people's thinking, and a lack of self–control that lead to the more detrimental path of using one's knowledge and potential. One of Adolf Hitler's main points throughout his book was how Germans are superior to every other race and how Nazi's should be in complete power. He believed that the Aryan race was perfect, and even encouraged women to bear as many children of this race as they could. He even goes to the extent where he describes what the perfect person looks like, which consisted of pale skin, blue eyes, etc. With this, he concluded that Jews and Gypsies were the most racially inferior with full plans to eliminate them. • 36. Freshman Engineering Projects: Course Analysis Designing has been a major aspect of my career as an engineering student. One of my most notable moments of design was my Freshman Engineering Projects course. In this class I designed a handlebar light for bikes with the goal of making it both more economical than and superior to current designs. Working in a group with three others, we set out to make a light that would be more robust, secure, and safer than current products on the market. The process began with three rough ideas of where we wanted to go and through many iterations of tweaking, testing, and prototyping we narrowed our plan down to one final design. Throughout the time we took preparing our final product we always had the cyclists we were making the product for in mind. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the more unethical mistakes we made was presenting a very rough and untested prototype as a finished product. We were able to hide wires and components as well as use theoretical numbers as opposed to real–life tests which would likely have far inferior results. Using theoretical numbers for battery life and brightness could have been very misleading and presented our project in a way which made it appear better than it really could be. Also, by operating the device ourselves we were able to work around code bugs that would be obviously apparent to a user who didn't know the tricks. Although this wasn't unlawful or intentionally misleading, the covering up of the truth is often considered unethical on a personal, and sometimes social level. Many don't see a difference from leaving out facts and flat out lying and thus would see this as a very unethical presentation. By doing this our group potentially put ourselves at risk of drumming up interest in something that was unrealistic. These unethical decisions may have been in the best interest for our small group, but sharing more truthful information probably would have been the more ethical ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 40. Why Is Handlebars Important The Importance of Handlebars I remember the first time riding a bike without my training wheels. Daddy clips the bike helmet below my chin and slips on the knee and elbow pads, while mommy fiddles with the video camera on the side walk. I mount my tiny bike as if it was valiant horse, and playfully twist the handle bars back and forth like revving a motorcycle. The most glorious moment, is when dad finally lets go of the bike and I pedal down the street, the glittery streamers flowing from my handle bars. I no longer have my parents steadying the bike making sure that I don't topple over. I am completely on my own maneuvering this machine. After a child adapts to riding a bike, they start to experiment with the bikes capabilities. They ride the bike backwards, try fancy tricks at the skate park, and completely take their hands off the handle bars. However, should a child ride their bike with no handle bars, risking having complete control of their bike and their safety just because they can? In the music video "Handlebars," the Flobots utilize the functionality of visual art and dynamic symbolism to effectively describe how people's greed and power can shadow the true potential and talent that an individual possesses, disconnecting them from the people that genuinely care about them. If your bike fits you just fine, the following bicycle fit faults may be the root of bicycle saddle sore: 1. Poor Saddle A poor saddle is the most common cause of bicycle saddle sore. Some bike seats are too cushy and some are too hard. A saddle that is too soft (with too much gel or padding) will make you sink down from the weight of your sit bones. This causes the mid part of your bike seat to push up and place additional pressure on your soft tissues. Most of the time, a firmer saddle can be better especially for longer rides. A good bike seat for women should have good padding for the sit bones. All of the sudden my tire struck a large rock that was sticking up and sending me barreling over the handlebars, onto the jagged gravel, the bike still clutched tight in my grip. As I was falling, the though to let go of the handlebars never occurred to me until it was too late and the bike landed on top of my ribcage. Pain shot through my body. What I feared most was no longer a fear, but a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 66. Music Analysis: Flobots Handlebars Essay It has always been argued that nature, nurture, or both affect human development. In Flobots' "Handlebars", the lead singer answers the question of whether nature, nurture, or both affect human development by showing two best friends who went their separate paths and turned into two completely different people. The music video and song shows and tells the experiences that shaped both friends and ultimately caused the demise of one, if not, both of them. However, within this song and video the power of the government, namely the American government and politics is criticized; also power plays a big role in what occurs within the video. In Flobots' "Handlebars," the use of illustrative lyrics, reflective instrumentals; and detailed images ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He enjoyed working on projects that had a social impact; which makes sense because "Handlebars" showed how the society could affect a person and how that person's choices could affect society. Since the song was originally written in 2005, and then re appeared in the Fight With Tools album it makes sense that the song would by influenced by the war America was fighting in Iraq at the time. In 2003 the Bush administration decided to invade Iraq, and from then on until the present many Americans and non–Americans have died as a result of wartime violence. Even though the war went on many Americans really started to question the reason why the war was still going on if the weapons of mas destruction were already found, the reason given for the invasion of Iraq. Some also questioned the entire reason for the war; according to a MSNBC Documentary, "Some of the most senior officials in the U.S. government, including President Bush himself, Vice President Dick Cheney and Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, asserted these claims in public with absolute confidence, even while privately, ranking U.S. military officers and intelligence professionals were voicing their doubts"(" How the Bush Administration Sold the Iraq War"). However, the people did nothing and the war continued. The song was meant for people who wanted to change what is happening around ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 70. Essay about Mountain Biking Mountain Biking I have come to love bicycles in the course of the past year. I am especially fond of mountain bikes, including my own. Riding it opens up a whole new world of opportunities and challenges for me. I am still fairly fresh to the whole mountain biking scene, so I push myself to become better with more experience. Riding is an outlet; it is something I can channel pent up energy through. I love the sport because it is a full body, soul, and mind experience that affects all five of the senses. I see the bike. I notice its worn, but once clean and pristine frame that beckons me to ride. Its sharp, bright colors are like a simple painting, only on aluminum, not canvas. Its aggressive look tells me that I can ride ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After moving for a while, I hit my first hill and fire seems to take ever my legs as I push myself to my limits. As the trail continues to move underneath me, I begin to hear the bike. As I hit a water bar or a drop–off I hat the clinking of my tools in their case on the side of the bike. Then I notice how the chain smacks against the frame on a particularly rough terrain. When I feel confident enough, I will hear the rear wheel skidding across the dirt, as I pull a nice speed slide through a turn. After my body is somewhat numb to what I am sensing, I begin to notice new awareness of other sensations. Now that I have been on the bike for a while, I am rather saturated with perspiration. I can now taste the sweat as it rolls down my face, picking up dirt as it goes, and then mixing with my saliva on my lips, and then into my parched mouth. I reach for my bottle of water to quench my thirst. The water is warm, because of the sun beating down on it. I pour it into my mouth and across my face as I slow down my pace to keep from crashing. The water's taste is not spectacular, because of its temperature and the mud caked on the spout of the bottle. To the hot and tired rider like me, its flavor is wonderful. Lastly, I start to notice the smells of riding on the trail. As my blood is stripped of its oxygen while pumping through my legs, my lungs gasp for more to air to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 74. Personal Narrative On An Off-Road Race About a year ago, I went to an off–road race here in Parker. I went to the race with some friends who were flaggers and one of the emergency response teams. Our job was to take the times for the racers that went by and assist them if they broke down. The race lasted two days. Overall the race was fun, untill I hit a ditch going 25 mph on a ATV. With no helmet or any kind of safety gear. The night before my crash, we went all over the track and looked for hazards and marked them for both the racers and ERTs (Emergency Response Teams).Later that night, we went over the safety procedures and rules. We went over how the ATV operated and the controls. We learned how to use the communications and the gear we had. Then, we camped out and woke up the next morning to watch the starting vehicles. ... Between our camp spot and the pits was about a mile stretch. So for fun and giggles we would race down the stretch. Well, I got down to the end, all I saw was the ground begin to turn sideways and then I thought, "Oh crud". I had hit a 2–2.5 foot ditch going about 25–30 mph. The handlebars jerked right and the ATV flipped. Threw me off and about five feet from the ditch, the ATV rolled over me, and I sat there waiting for the ATV's handlebar to be taken off my side all in about 10 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 76. Dirt Bike Essay Livingstone 1 How to Drive a Dirt Bike Have you ever wondered how people on dirtbikes keep their balance while going at such fast speeds and riding in mud and dirt? Have you ever wondered if you would be able to ride a dirt bike? You can learn how to dirt bike by used these four steps kickstarting, clutch and shifting, riding, and braking. These four steps should help you learn how to ride a dirt bike. To start a dirt bike up you will need to know how to use the kickstarter and when to use the choke. A choke is used to limit the amount of air that goes into the carburetors while it is cold out. You are probably used to a car where you just need a key to turn it on, while on a dirtbike you need to kickstart it for it to run. To kick start you need to be in neutral and have the clutch in. To insure that you don't hurt yourself have your ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Balancing on a dirt bike is a lot like riding a bicycle but is is bigger and weighs more. A dirtbike can weigh between 150 pounds and 250 plus pounds so you will want to learn how to control the bike so you don't get hurt. You may need to move your body around to find your perfect balancing point for different kinds of riding. For example some times you might need to stand up, sit down or lean side to side. If you are stuck in mud you might need to shift your weight around to get out. With turning there are two different ways to turn. The two ways are counter turning and using the handlebars to turn. While going fast you should probably counter steer by leaning to turn the bike because if you turned the handlebars to much you would probably have a higher chance at crashing. While going slow you can use the handlebars to get around tight and small ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 78. Essay on The Physics of Motorcycle Roadracing Despite what some people may think, motorcycle roadracing is not only a highly strenuous sport, but there is much more involved than just twisting the throttle and turning the handlebars. There are a number of powerful forces working on the bike and the rider. There is, of course, the downward pull of gravity, friction between the tires and the track, and centrifugal force which acts to the outside of the turn. The key to cornering at high speeds is to perfect the lean angle of the motorcycle so that the force of gravity reaches equilibrium with the centrifugal force attempting to stand the bike back up. If the bike is leaned to far, it falls over. If it is not leaned far enough, centrifugal force pulls it back up and the turn is not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, the rider would push on the left handlebar (turning the bars to the right) in order to make a left turn. This may seem like a foreign concept at first, but it makes sense in the context of gyroscopic motion. Consider a bicycle wheel: The effects of gyroscopic precession can be felt when the wheel is held by the axle in the position shown, spun, and then turned sharply to the left or right. If the wheel is turned to the left, the top will twist to the right, pushing the bottom to the left. The same applies to a motorcycle when the wheels are spinning very quickly and the machine is turned. Turning the handlebars to the left would force the top of the wheel to move to the right, thus leaning the motorcycle in the opposite direction that the wheel was turned. The equation for this motion of the wheel is T=IWv where T is the torque, I is the moment of inertia, v is the wheel speed, and W is the angular velocity of the turn. This equation relies on the conservation of the wheel's angular momentum.(Sport Rider 2002) Steering Method #2: Body Steering The concept of body steering relies on the rider's shifts in weight and pressure application on various parts of the motorcycle to turn it. Theoretically, one could turn a bike without ever touching the handlebars simply by shifting body weight. For example, to turn the bike to the left, the rider could simply ...
