A presentation given by Stephen Bounds at the Ark Group seminar "Strategic Email Management" in 2007.
Still a useful introduction on how to change the emphasis away from email and towards more appropriate communication methods such as linking files rather than using attachments, blogs, wikis and archived mailing lists.
23. What’s a Mail Archive? Simplest way to ensure that the knowledge contained in emails doesn’t get lost. Set up “mailing lists” – standard email addresses which users can subscribe to. Any messages sent to these addresses are automatically archived on a web page.
24. What’s a Wiki? Wikis provide an open-ended set of shared pages which can be edited and updated by all users entirely from a web browser
25. What’s a Blog? A blog is a website which allows users to add journal-style entries in chronological order. Blogs can be individually-owned or jointly updated by a team.
26. What’s a CMS? A CMS, or content management system, is similar to a blog or wiki. Administrators can build fairly complex layouts through a web-based interface while still allowing user-submitted content with a minimum of fuss.
