Evaluation question 1
1.
2. “IN WHAT WAYS DOES YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT
USE, DEVELOP OR CHALLENGE FORMS AND
CONVENTIONS OF REAL MEDIA
PRODUCTS?“
For my music magazine I
chose to put a white male
on the front cover, holding
a guitar while wearing
trendy clothes that appeal
to younger audiences. With
this, my music magazine is
conforming to normal
music magazine
conventions by having
similar models and style. I
think that I have done well
to imitate the style of
modern rock magazines
and how they are
represented on the cover of
3. CONTENTS PAGE
For my contents page I did more of
the same; including images of
young, white male musicians
holding instruments while giving
direct address with the audience.
At the bottom of the page I
included a shot of the band in
their entirety and also social
media links which appeals to the
younger audiences who are
active when it comes to sites like
Facebook and Twitter. I am still
conforming to regular codes and
conventions, which was my goal
for the magazine.
4. DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD ARTICLE
My article includes one
image, which is the group
shot of the band that was
advertised on the front
cover of the magazine,
anchoring the article to
the cover line. The article
I wrote for the double
page spread spans
across both pages and
includes a very
straightforward style
along with pull out
quotes, enticing the
audience to read on. This,
again, conforms to the
modern conventions we
see used in many other
modern music magazines
today like NME, Q, and
VIBE, for example.
5. OVERALL CONCLUSION
Overall, I think I have done well when it comes to trying to
make my music magazine conform to the codes and
conventions of modern rock music magazines, and I also
think I imitated the stereotypical style of a young rock
band too. There are some things I could have improved
on, however, such as the image on the double page
spread and the style of the contents page.
