2. COMPANIES THAT MAY DISTRIBUTE MY
MAGAZINE
Bauer: reaches around 22 million people and 107 brands across
all types of media.
They do not distribute pop magazines, although they do
distribute magazines of other genres such as Kerrang and
Mojo which means they are already established and know
what to do with a pop magazine and how to distribute them.
They work to cross different media platforms with the ‘cross
platform offer’ which would help to boost the magazine and
promote it not just as a magazine but a brand with potentially
a website or online shop.
Bauer is also an European based company, and therefore know
how to market to the European consumer.
The fact that the their distributing company has an audience of
22 million people shows that they are successful and well
known, this would be a good company that may distribute my
magazine.
3. TIMES INC. UK (FORMERLY IPC)
Times Inc. has over 90 brands and 50 global
offices, they also claim to have millions of loyal
consumers. They also claim that nearly half of
US adults engage with a Times Inc. brand each
month. This shows that they are successful and
well marketed, but their main target audience
may only be Americans and therefore may not
appeal to the UK market as widely. It is also an
American, new york based company. Times Inc.
already distribute music magazines such as
NME and Uncut.
In 1990, Times Inc. merged with Warner
communications to create media conglomerate
Time Warner, this lasted until June 2014. The
merger means there was a share of contacts
and professionals in that company, this also
means that it was more successful after the
4. EMAP
Emap is a smaller independent distributing
company, it is British which means they are
limited to where they can take brands although
they specialise in only magazines compared to
other distributing companies that do other
types of media such as radio and TV.
They do not currently distribute any other music
magazines and are only dealing with 15
magazines.
Recently in an article by the guardian, ‘Emap
brand to be scrapped as all its titles move
digital-only’.
This shows that Emap may not be a reliable
company to distribute magazines with as it has
plans of being scrapped. With a magazine
distibutor, you would want one that is reliable,
