The relationship between the Canadian government and Quebec has been in constant turmoil for years. This paper will discuss and critique Quebec's
five demands made in 1986 by the Liberal government and their current implications. Reasonable demands are ones in which a limited amount of
asymmetrical federalism grants provincial sovereignty. Currently all provinces have certain guaranteed rights, however Quebec's rights provide more
autonomy. Quebec, though home to the largest population of French speaking Canadians, have asked too much of the Government of Canada. This is
evident Quebec's increased control over immigration, Supreme Court Justices appointment, and their veto on future constitutional negotiations.

The broad aim of this proposed research is to examine Canada's ethnocultural diversity and the use of CAM, specifically comparing the health–seeking
behaviour and care use behaviour of Canadian residents of SSA origin with the rest of the populace. Additionally, the proposed research seeks to
critically examine geographical, economic, biological, socio–cultural and prevailing health policy on CAM, and how these broader factors contribute to

While some may say it is necessary to create an elected senate, there are other options to give the Senate more legitimacy. Just because a body is

Mary Ann Shadd 's "A Plea for Emigration" was a pamphlet that was written for African Americans who may be interested in emigrating to Canada.
By examining all the different parts of the country, such as climate and labour, Shadd paints a very positive overview of Canada. It 's a very simple
read and I was able to get through it without any issues. However, as I read it, I was quite concerned with how it was written. It was a very biased
opinion of Canada and Shadd was constantly overselling the country to convince people to emigrate to Canada. She only addresses any concerns for
the sheer purpose of just reassuring the reader and pushing it to the side. As a result, it grossly undermines the hardships that an immigrant may face,
especially for African individuals. As this was written in 1852, racism was still rampant within North America and even though Canada had an
anti–slavery legislation, that does not dismiss the discrimination that Black citizens would face. Furthermore, moving to a new country and
rebuilding a life there isn't as simple as Shadd portrays, especially during this time period. With only manual hard labour as job opportunities and
being forced to survive out in the wilderness, this is a life that isn't suited for everyone. Shadd attempts to convince the readers that the hard work is

The Quebec government controls communications in its own territory to defend its own Quebecois culture which try to stand on its own, separate from
the North American. The feature that creates this difference is the fact that they have a different language when compared to the rest of the continent.
This generally makes it easier to protect their culture. Unlike the Canadian government, America on the other hand operates communication in a free
trade environment just like any other commodity and is deeply committed to deregulation allowing free competition. Along with this, America also
tries to pressurize its neighbors to follow the same pattern set by them. They do this because they are not insecure about their culture the way Canada
or Quebec is. The American government does not force or intervene and make policies to encourage or promote their culture since they are well
aware of the fact that their culture is taking over the continent and slowly seeping in to the media markets all over the world; therefore knowing that
their cultural identity is far from danger. The broadcasting in America is so well established and technologically advanced that they do not fear to
operate in free market conditions because they are the ones who are more likely to benefit from this. On the other hand Quebec and Canada are not yet
ready to face the fierce competition from United States while struggling to maintain their own identities.

Comedy is a fickle medium. It is hard for a comedian to predict how an audience or individuals will react to a joke. Satire is even more uncertain due
the medium's socio–political nature. The purpose of satire can be misconstrued due to its tendency to obscure or simplify the point it is trying to
make for the sake of a joke. In Mathew Bevis' "Taking Liberties", he argues that individuals with different world views can interpret a satirical piece
in very different ways. In this paper, I shall use the satirical sketch "A Politically Correct Minute" by the Royal Canadian Air Farce to argue thatsatire
becomes and ineffective tool in conveying a political message due to Bevis' argument that the viewer shapes the meaning of the sketch. The creator
might have tried to establish a moral high ground, but it is hard to defend due to the medium being reliant on the viewers sensibilities over the creator's
intent, thus making us unsure if a moral high ground actually exists. The Canadian satirical comedy troupe, The Royal Canadian Air Farce, released the

opinions that differ from our own (Speltz 2015). Discussion becomes near impossible with satire providing surface level understanding of political

There were many flags before it and each time a new state was adopted into the US, we got a new one. The flag has 50 white stars on a blue
