Pastoral Response Paper
To prepare churches for the challenges of pastoral searches, I recently introduced a fictitious
congregation named "St. Barnabas Lutheran Church." Readers provided a good deal of affirmation
for the post, but they also wanted to know how to improve the call process. We go back to St.
Barnabas today to start answering that question. If you are "first–time visitor" to St. Barnabas, here's
what you should know. More than a year ago, St. Barnabas' pastor retired at age 67 after serving the
church for 15 years. It took about eight months to issue the initial call to a candidate, only to see the
call declined. Now starting the second year of vacancy, the call committee decided to create an
"after action" report to learn from the experience of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The call committee had a task list, but not SMART goals. As such, the call committee... Lost track
of some tasks, competing them haphazardly. Held meetings two or three weeks late. Didn't always
contact all the pastoral candidates with updates. The lack of planning really left the call committee
unprepared for the initial congregational meeting to call a pastor. The meeting went so poorly, the
committee had to table calling a pastor and schedule another congregational meeting. First, The call
committee provided a brief written summary of each candidate. Congregational members wanted
more information. One member even pointed out her sister's church, who is calling a pastor, placed
video interviews and sermons of each candidates on the church website. Second, the call committee
choose to not prepare salary and benefits charts for all the candidates, opting to wait until the church
choose a candidate to compile this information. Some members wanted to know the benefits cost of
each candidate before voting. Third, the call committee decided to use a voice vote to call the pastor.
Members asked for written ballots. The committee was unprepared for written ballots. The

Summary Of ' First Missionary Journey '
First Missionary Journey
The book of Acts describes how Paul was ministering in Antioch with Barnabas, when he was
directed by the Holy Spirit to be released from his Church duties. The Holy Spirit had another
assignment for Paul, and that was to go and take the Gospel more widely. Some believe that this
notion came from the Holy Spirit through fasting and prayer. Paul began his first missionary in the
town of Antioch. Throughout Paul's first missionary journey he was accompanied by Barnabas and
Barnabas cousin John Mark.
God gave Paul a mission to preach the Gospel to the Gentiles. They traveled from city to city
spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ. However, the message was not always being received. It is
really no confirmed certainty on why John Mark eventually left Paul and Barnabas to return to
Jerusalem. The Jews went on record as being in opposition to the Gospel, but Paul kept preaching
the Gospel to the Gentiles. Paul saw that the Gentiles were very receptive to the Gospel.
Although many Gentiles accepted the Gospel of Jesus Christ, there were Jews that continued to
display their anger towards the Gospel. There were some Jews that came and stirred up the crowd at
Lystra against Paul and Barnabas. This crowd also stoned and left Paul for dead, but Paul did not
allow that to stop him from preaching the Gospel to the city of Lystra. Lystra and Derbe proved to
be fruitful areas to preach the Gospel, but not without their difficulties. One convert at Lystra on this

Personal Narrative: Camp Barnabas
I am involved in numerous organizations such as Camp Barnabas, Circle of Friends, Operation
Beautiful, and Bible school classes. These programs have helped me to be comfortable in diverse
situations. I believe these involvements will help strengthen the goals I have set for myself. I am a
triplet. I have a brother, Chandler, and sister, Paige. The three of us are very close, closer than most
siblings. We have special bond and will be attending the same college this fall. all decided that we
want to attend the same college in the fall. One of the most significant events of my life was
attending Camp Barnabas. Camp Barnabas is a camp specifically designed for children with special

I was thrown into a tornado of emotions, ranging from anger to depression. I walked back to the
cabin alone to find everyone meeting and bonding with their campers. I slowly climbed up into my
bed on the top bunk. I watched everyone smiling and laughing while I was left there alone. Why did
this have to happen to me? What is God's plan for me this week? Dreadfully, I got out of bed,
exhausted from weeping all night. Without my chosen camper, I became a "floater" which meant I
got to help the other CIA's and their campers. Chelsea, a CIA from Austin, immediately needed my
assistance. I reluctantly made it over to Chelsea and her camper, Emma. Emma was nonverbal and
wheelchair bound. She had to be fed through a tube and wore briefs, or adult diapers. Little did I
know, Emma, Chelsea and I would become best friends, sharing our triumphs and failures in life.
The three of us would do everything at camp together. On the extensive walks to the camps' doctor's
office for routine feedings, we would share personal stories unbeknownst to anyone in our lives. I
shared my struggle of my camper, Paige, not showing up and how incredibly difficult it was for me
to see everyone have someone to share the most life changing week with. Opening up to them in one
of the hardest situations I had ever faced was beyond valuable. Through this tough and emotional
experience I found myself, but more importantly, God. I had culminated so many new friends

Barnabas Miller's The Girl With The Wrong Name
The Girl With The Wrong Name is an intense thriller that will leave you both cowering under your
blanket and wanting more because it takes you by such surprise. I underestimated this book and its
ability to be creepy and psyche me out – big mistake. The plot of this book is so unpredictable you'll
be holding your breath while waiting on the edge of your seat to see what happens next. Barnabas
Miller has created something breathtaking and exhilarating, something that you will never forget.
The Girl With The Wrong Name is about a filmmaker named Theo. She often wanders around the
city with a hidden camera, capturing humans in their everyday, mundane lives – until she sees a sad
looking boy in a café. She soon becomes fascinated with this boy named Andy. She is obsessed with
figuring out why he was in the café, why he was sad, and who he is in general. She hangs around
him, watching him, and she eventually figures out he is waiting to see the elusive girl he has fallen

The truth, or whatever seems to be the truth, is your own interpretation. What you think is
happening could either be completely wrong or something else entirely. This is the kind of book
with an ending that leaves you gasping for air. This is the kind of book that punches you in the gut
and laughs at your pain. It's creepy, suspenseful, and an all–around thrill ride.
Overall, The Girl With the Wrong Name is a book capable of changing the face of Young Adult
Thrillers. Miller is a modern day Poe meets Stephen King. In the spirit of We Were Liars, Gone Girl,
and Damage Done, The Girl With The Wrong name will lead you down a million little paths just to

Authorship Of Hebrews
The author for the book of Hebrews is unknown, as there is no ascription or introduction given by
the author; therefore, scholars may only propose possible authors without confirming who it is. With
that said, many scholars have pushed for Pauline because in earlier manuscripts Hebrews followed
Romans which they thought warranted Pauline authorship. Some of the early church fathers believe
that there is Pauline influence, however, not Pauline authorship simply for the reason that Hebrews
seems to be written by a well–educated Greek with elaborate and complex language. There are other
suggestions made by scholars, most of which they are unable to support. Pricilla is one example, it
would be fitting for her authorship of Hebrews based on her being in Paul's inner circle and the book
having Pauline influence, however, one would have to look past the strong presence of the authors
masculine self–reference. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Moreover, Luke translates Barnabas to mean "son of consolation" which ties into Hebrews being a
"word of consolation" (Johnson). He is also described as interacting with Paul through missions,
which Paul confirms in his letters, however, this does not confirm his authorship as there are also
various things that would not agree with his authorship. Lastly, there is discussion concerning
Apollos as the author of Hebrews, there are many connections that have been made, such as,
Apollos being a Jew and Hebrews showing strong knowledge of Judaism, Apollos being well
learned in the Scriptures and the intricate scriptural citations used in Hebrews, among other things.
Though there are many aspects that agree with Apollos authorship, it must only be speculation due
to the disagreements that also arise in the argument for his

Paul And Barnaba Research Paper
Paul's first missionary journey led him and his companions into the southern portion of Galatia.
They were able to stand before those in the synagogues and proclaim the good news to the Jews and
the God–fearing Gentiles (Acts 13–14). Initially the journey was productive as many Jewish and
Gentile adherents wanted to hear further from Paul and his companions. Luke shares that as Paul
and Barnabas went throughout the cities, jealous and sacrilegious Jews stirred up hostility by
speaking against the words of Paul (Acts 13:44). D.A Carson and Douglas Moo shares, "the
preachers turned to the Gentiles and made converts from among them." However, the Jews quickly
moved to eject Paul and his companions from the region; therefore, they progressed to other areas.
Paul's purpose for writing Galatians was to express his concern that the newly converted Galatians
were deserting the gospel of grace and turning to a different gospel (Gal 1:6). Further, he wanted to
share that there were some who desired to mislead them by misrepresenting the ... Show more

Thomas Lea and David Black states that these Judaizers were considered false teachers and
promoted "legalism." F.F. Bruce shares that they were "trouble–makers," imparting unto their
hearers what they stated was the true knowledge of God, which Paul fervently protested (Ga1 4:9).
According to Carson, "the false teachers saw Christianity as a modified Judaism; they were teaching
that to be in covenant relationship to God means to submit to the requirements of the law." They
wanted to compel the Gentile Christians to practice circumcision, obey Mosaic Law and certain
festivals, and promoted an interest in being "sons of Abraham". The Judaizers remarked, "Unless
you are circumcised, according to the custom taught by Moses, you cannot be saved" (Acts

Scripture : The Apostle Paul
Among the many New Testament characters recorded in Scripture, the Apostle Paul, by far, is one of
the most intriguing. Like the twelve apostles who were companions of Jesus during His earthly
ministry, the Apostle Paul was far from perfect but he possessed an extraordinary zeal for God that
stood out against the other apostles. Consequently, Jesus likely took notice of Paul's zeal as well,
thus it is no surprise, at least to this author, that Jesus would choose Paul to take the gospel to the
Gentiles in faraway lands. Unfortunately, little is known about Paul's early life. However, and
according to Scripture, Paul was likely born around the time of Jesus' birth (Acts 7:58) in the City of
Tarsus, Cecilia, which was a providence of the Roman Empire (McCray, 2003). Tarsus, being a
providence of Roman Empire, also made the young Paul a Roman Citizen and Diaspora Jew which
Paul would later use to his advantage when facing three separate cases of persecution (Acts 16:37;
Acts 22:25–29; Acts 24:27) in the Book of Acts (McCray, 2003).
The City of Tarsus was a major manufacturing and educational center in the ancient world that laid
on a commercial route in southeastern region of Asia Minor, and it is likely that Tarsus, as well as
Paul, felt the cultural influences of Stoic philosophy, however, it is difficult to assess what influence
Greek thought may have had on a young Paul (Elwell, 1997). Regardless, Paul, in all likelihood
studied Stoic philosophy and benefited greatly from an education as a youth in Tarsus because of his
Roman citizenship. Aside from Paul's birth, it is not entirely clear how Paul acquired his Roman
citizenship, thus it is suggested that Paul's father or his descendants became Roman citizens through
military or public service while becoming Hellenized in the process (McCray, 2003). Accordingly,
Paul was given both a Hebrew name (Shaul or Saul) and a Roman Cognomen name (Paulus or Paul)
which Saul would use after his conversion to Christianity (McCray, 2003). Regardless of the lack
clarity surrounding Paul's citizenship and upbringing in Tarsus, it is abundantly clear in Paul's
epistles that he obtained a Greek education as he could relate to the Gentiles with relative ease

The Cask Of Amontillado Short Story
"Jolly good my man!" Barnabas laughed so hard he sloshed his liquor down the front of his blazer.
Fortunato eyes crinkled with happiness at his friend. It was a week until the carnival started, as
Fortunato was getting his wine moved from the cellar to the main house, in time for the celebration.
Fortunato prided himself on his excellent taste in alcoholic beverages, much better than his fellow
man Luchesi, a man as rich as Fortunato, yet is Fortunato's only competition for wine tasting.
Nevertheless Fortunato felt himself better, as Barnabas agreed, laughing as Fortunato make fun of
the other man's taste in wine. "Ah there's my man, Montresors, come my brother have a drink."
Barnabas called out to Fortunato estranged neighbour. Montresors ... Show more content on

surprised at the gesture, doubting himself Fortunato did it gain. "You do not comprehend?"
Fortunato was shocked, he was so sure... "Not I," Was all that Montresors replied. "Then you are not

Analysis of “Dark Shadows” as a Gothic Masterpiece
Analysis of "Dark Shadows" as a Gothic Masterpiece To most, when asked to define what Gothic is,
they will state that it is similar to any other story, just with more "darkness." This is because Gothic
stories all have a classic story line. First, there is the main character's back story, if any is then told.
Next, there are events that lead up to a horrible incident that is the climax of the story. Lastly, the
character finds some way to fix the situation or free him– or herself from it. They might go insane,
commit suicide, run away, or watch other characters perish. However, readers would be greatly
mistaken if they thought that this was all that there is to a Gothic story; there is much more to the
Gothic than meets the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This also changed the anatomy of vampires. Classic vampires could be harmed with garlic or the
light. While the light hurt him, he was able to merely wear a hat and cloak and not be harmed.
However, there is still much more to Gothic Literature. According to Baldick, "For the Gothic effect
to be attained, a tale should combine a fearful sense of inheritance in time with a claustrophobic
sense of enclosure in space" (xix). A story can have Gothic tropes but not be Gothic. There are loads
of books that have murders and ghosts that aren't considered Gothic at all, like Harry Potter by J.K.
Rowling. His parents were killed and there was a ghost trapped in the girl's bathroom, but it isn't
Gothic at all. What makes a story Gothic is how it is told or portrayed. Sometimes, the scenes that
are used are to make the viewers question what is righteous and what is wicked. Burton shows this
with how he introduces his characters and their personalities. For the vampire Barnabas, he is
portrayed not as monster but as an unfortunate soul who has a curse that he is trying to rid himself
of. Instead of wanting to stay a vampire, he joins up with a local physician to try and find a cure to
make him human again. However, he still kills humans and drinks their blood. This makes the
audience question whether Barnabas is an evil vampire or a poor man with a curse due to this hidden
identity. This is also shown with

Hebrews : An Essay Depth Look At The Authorship And...
This paper will discuss the book of Hebrews with an in–depth look at the authorship and Hebrews
11. The book of Hebrews has fallen into a category of its own. The book quotes extensively from the
Old Testament. It proclaims that Jesus Christ is superior and Christianity over other religions,
including Judaism. The author demonstrates ways for following Jesus. It speaks to anyone who is
wondering why they should follow Jesus. For some twelve hundred years from 400AD to 1600AD
the book was commonly called the Epistle of Paul to the Hebrews. When we take a look at the
letters of Paul. They form some of the most famous yet recognized letters of the New Testament.
However, there are another group of eight letters. Hebrews being one of those letters. It is thought
that these letters are not truly letters. But a set of tracts or even written versions of sermons aimed at
the early Christian communities (Davis, 1998). According to Davis, Hebrews was probably aimed at
Jewish converts to Christianity. Because few non–Jewish Christians of the early period would not
have understood references to Noah, Abraham, Lot and other familiar Israelites. What also makes
Hebrews unique is that the date and authorship is unknown. Scholars believe that it was most likely
written between AD60–AD65. The book is not addressed to anyone specific. It begins without a
personal greeting typical of other New Testament letters. There are however, several theories as to
whom the author is. I will

Mahatma Gandhi : A Leader Of Indian Freedom Struggle
Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi (M.K. Gandhi) who is also known as Mahatma Gandhi, is a great
leader of Indian freedom struggle. While practicing the law his outlook got changed. He has turned
into a servant leader. Since then, Gandhi personifies the qualities of a servant leader. He has
demonstrated the principles of servant leadership. He believed in nonviolence (Ahimsa) and holding
on to the truth (Satyagraha) throughout his life (Barnabas & N Clifford, 2012). Servant Leadership
Principles Followed by Gandhi
Servant leadership follows 12 main principles. These include listening, empathy, healing, awareness,
persuasion, conceptualization, foresight, stewardship, growth, building community, calling and
nurturing the spirit (Spears, n.d.). Gandhi applied all these principles in different occasions.
Application of the Servant Leadership Principles Gandhi made the Indian ambulance corps when he
was in South Africa with other Indian volunteers, to take care and heal the injured Zulus of the Zulu
rebellion (Barnabas & N Clifford, 2012). He demonstrated his empathy, healing and an awareness of
the needs of the people around him through this act. Gandhi gave up the pleasures in his life as a
barrister when he recognized his calling to release the Indians in South Africa from racial
discrimination. As a steward, he led the Indians to fight against this discrimination. He used the
strategy of nonviolence and holding on to the truth in all his fights (Barnabas & N Clifford, 2012).

Barnaba da Modena's 'The Virgin and Child': Analysis
The present work is focused on undertaking an in–depth analysis of two famous religious paintings:
The Virgin and Child by Barnaba da Modena, an Italian painter from the fourteenth century, and The
Elevation of the Cross by Peter Paul Rubens, a seventeenth century Flemish artist and diplomat.
Following, by comparison, a thorough account of the two works' features, careful observation
reveals more than one interpretation. The Virgin and Child was created by Barnaba da Modena in
1360, and is deemed Gothic in style. It depicts The Virgin Mary holding a Child Christ in her arms,
and rests undamaged to this day in Boston's Museum of Fine Arts. In terms of formal elements, it is
39.4 inches in height and 24.8 inches in width (100 x 63 cm), a religious painting executed by
means of tempera on panel. The enduring framing edges might indicate that the painting was
initially planned to be the central piece of a polyptych. A first impression is that of anachronism: its
opulent golden background and the intricate striation outlines on the Madonna's mantle seem to
indicate a much earlier conception, mainly Byzantine in nature. However, the Byzantine herring–
bone pattern is clearly endowed with a more modern linear roundness. Obvious from the start is the
artist's careful attention to details, illustrated in the richly decorated background and characters'
attire. Employing this general density automatically enhances the Virgin's gaze, making it charged
with severity, intense. On

The Argument That Paul Could Be The Authorship Of Hebrews
In some other books of the Bible it states who the author is in the beginning of the book, but in
Hebrews the author is not stated. One argument says that Paul is the author and other argument says
otherwise. The 4 arguments that Paul could be the authorship of Hebrews is, "Paul's rabbinical
training under Gamliel, knowledge of Judaism, Paul's close relationship to Timothy, Peters reference
to the writing of Paul," (Peretti et al.2004, 34). Why would people think Hebrews is authored by
paul? The reason why some arguments say that is because of, "Paul's rabbinical training under
Gamliel and knowledge of Judaism" (Peretti et al.2004, 34). Paul had studied under Gamliel, which
makes a good argument that he would be the author of Hebrews. ... Show more content on

Past and presents scholars supported this theory. " For there is extant with an Epistle of the Hebrews
under the name of Barnabas– a man sufficiently accredited by God, as being one whom Paul has
stationed next to himself in the interrupted observance when Paul was not there" (Tertullian 20).
Likewise, Gregory of Elvira was a supporter of Barnabas writing Hebrews. Bishop of Brescia says
that the book of Hebrews was written from Barnabas. The suggestion that scholars assume that
Barnabas the author of Hebrews is, "he was a Levite of Cyprus" (Allen 2010, 41). Because Barnabas
was a Levite he had a big interest in the Old Testament and their sacrificial technique. Also,
Barnabas was an affiliate with the group called the Pauline circle. In that circle involved Timothy
and the author of Hebrew. It is said that the author of Hebrew known to have a relationship with
Timothy. Barnabas knew Timothy because he was in the area that Paul and Barnabas evangelized.
"The Hellenistic perspective in Hebrews suggests to some scholars that Barnabas was the author.
When the Antiochene Hellenists were evangelized, the church at Jerusalem sent Barnabas to
coordinate this new thrust" (Allen 2010, 41). Barnabas was known as a man who exhorts others, and
the author of Hebrews is called a "word of exhortation" (Hebrew 13:22). The last evidence that
shows that Barnabas might be the author of Hebrew is that the tone of Hebrew as a kind of Pauline

Crash because we see several stories towards a person's life in L.A. This is a world where slavery

Anti Judaism Movement
Using the letter of Barnabas and the book of Hebrews as resources we begin to see the rise of the
anti–Judaism movement occur in Rome at what begins as a relatively harmless uprising. Anti–
Judaism literature began to be written when Christianity was not the official religion of the Roman
Empire, in fact, it accounted for a very small population of the Roman Empire. (Ehrman, 449) It is
believed that Christianity was not more prominent in Rome during this time because of the funding
and organization it required that was just not available for such a small group. (Ehrman, 449–450)
As Christianity became more prominent in Rome in the coming years, this is when the more harmful

The religion was very well known and organized throughout the society. (Ehrman, 450) Because of
this, the few early Christian writers began to feel "threatened" and needed to raise Christianity up by
dragging Judaism down with public knowledge hence the creation of public writings. All of the
writings had different focuses when it came to the part of Judaism it was degrading and as
mentioned became more aggressive as time went on. For example, the book of Hebrews makes the
claim that Judaism is the precursor to Christianity and that Jesus Christ is superior to all Jewish
religious figures, (Ehrman, 449) while the letter of Barnabas claimed that the Judaist religion is a
false religion and they have no right to the scriptures intended because of the now rising of
Christianity. (Ehrman, 447) Although both pieces degrade Judaism you can see a clear difference in
where the book of Hebrews just claims that Christianity is superior to Judaism versus the letter of
Barnabas that develops a clear attack on the Jewish religion by prosecuting them as a false religion.
Although the writers of each of these pieces could not predict the future outcomes for both religions,
the authors must take responsibility for what began the prosecution of the Jews and the devastation

In The Case Of The Unhealthy Hospital, By Anthony R. Kovner
In the article, The Case of the Unhealthy Hospital, written by Anthony R. Kovner, a through
description of a struggling hospital, Blake Memorial Hospital, is given. This paper is a SWOT
analysis, and addresses the strengths and weaknesses within the hospital, as well as opportunities
and threats outside of the hospital and in the surrounding community. Although limited in
abundance, there are specific strengths of Blake Memorial Hospital, such as their new CEO, Bruce
Reid, and the strong community base and need for healthcare services. On the other hand,
weaknesses within the hospital and clinics, such as poor quality of care and facilities, and a low rate
of funding, contribute to the declining performance of the healthcare organization as a whole.
Outside of the organization are potential opportunities to cut costs by potentially closing clinics, and
as a result, better the quality of care give to patients with increased funding. There are also
opportunities to create an emphasis on the neighborhood clinics, for the poorer areas of the city, and
potentially increase the referrals to the hospital. Threats outside of Blake Memorial Hospital include
competing healthcare facilities such as St. Barnabas; being located in a poor, non affluent area; and
threats to cut funding if the clinics are closed. Overall, Blake Memorial Hospital has a variety of
different strengths and weaknesses inside of the organization, as well as opportunities and threats in

John Mark Research Paper
John Mark
John Mark was an important worker in the early church. He is referred to as both John and Mark in
the New Testament. He was the nephew of Barnabas.1 His mother was Mary at whose home in
Jerusalem believers gathered in fellowship.2 The early church historians record that he was Peter's
amanuensis and wrote the Gospel of Mark in Rome shortly after Peter's death.3
The tradition that John Mark is the author of the Gospel of Mark is reliable and supported by
external and internal evidence. In the writings of the early church fathers, Mark is described as
Peter's interpreter and the "author of a brief Gospel in accordance with what he had heard Peter
narrating."4 It is not clear if John Mark was a disciple of Jesus or an eyewitness to the events he
recorded. He traveled to Babylon with Peter who referred to John Mark as his son.5
The Bible provides "internal evidence" for the tradition of Peter as the source and John Mark as the
author. The second gospel was written from the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
David Guzik explains that from the earliest days of the church, commentators have believed that the
"certain young man" described in Mark 14:51–52 was Mark himself. He included this incident to
say "I was there."7 And there followed him a certain young man, having a linen cloth cast about his
naked body; and the young men laid hold on him: And he left the linen cloth, and fled from them
naked.8
Charles Spurgeon agreed with this view: "The modest spirit of Mark seemed to say, 'Friend Peter,
while the Holy Ghost moves me to, tell thy fault, and let it stand on record, he also constrains me to
write my own as a sort of preface to it, for I, too, in my mad, hare–brained folly, would have run,
unclothed as I was, upon the guard to rescue my Lord and Master; yet, at the first sight, of the rough

Paul And Barnabas: A Thematic Analysis
Paul and Barnabas had their fair share of opportunities to dispute their faith and Acts 15 is no
different. They were not in a strange position when a situations arose with men from Judea. In this
chapter Luke gives us the account of a conflict that was settled by the council at Jerusalem. It is hard
to tell if the men from Judea were being legalistic or if they were sincerely trying to obey the word
of God but was taught incorrectly until now. But either way there was a conflict that needed
resolved, a solution that was presented and who better to be in this debate then the apostle Paul
himself. Acts 15 verse one states the conflict, " And certain men which came down from Judea
taught the brethren, and said, Except ye be circumcised after the manner of Moses, ye cannot be
saved." These men are siding with one must follow the law to be saved and Paul and Barnabas were
not pleased with this. Christians should not seek out conflict and debates but there are more
important issues that need to be addressed at times that require standing up. This was one of those
time where one would speak up on this issue. These men were clearly misled on how one is saved
and were teaching others the same incorrect doctrine. When the wrong doctrine is being taught then

Wendel Meyer says of the Damascus Road Incident,
"...the scene is so powerful, so vivid and tangible, that it is easy for it to become the window through
which we view and engage the concept of Paul's conversion. In truth, however, we know that that
singular moment as dramatic and important as it proved to be, was only the first instilment of the
conversion of ... Paul.[4]" It is important to note that it did not take Saul long to form his theological
ideas after the Damascus Road Incident. There was no massive change in beliefs that Saul had to go
through. What changed in him was an additional piece added into what he already knew to be true.
The Hebrew Scriptures that formed Saul's beliefs had not been re–written. They were simply
fulfilled, as Mathew 5:17 states, "Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I
have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.[5]"
Paul's Life and Teachings
People had no idea what to make of the new Saul of Tarsus. Surely his behavior was a trick, a trap to
find Christians and kill them too. The reactions and emotions that rose up against Saul in the
beginning of his journey are logical and reasonable. Everyone was terrified of him. Here was the
man famous far and wide for killing people who claimed to follow a man named Jesus. Here he was,
standing in the temple preaching Jesus.

The Life Of Saint Paul 's Name After The Conversion Of...
Saint Paul's name before his conversion to Christianity was Saul, an individual who devoted his life
to the persecution of Christians and early disciples in Jerusalem. He was a Hebrew from the tribe of
Benjamin, a Pharisee, and someone who is very literate in Judaism faith as well. He was born into a
devout Jewish family in Tarsus of Cilicia, hence known as Saul of Tarsus, one of the major trade
centers on the Mediterranean Coast in present day Turkey. During his early life, he was sent to
Jerusalem to receive his education in classical literature, philosophy, law, and ethics under Rabbi
Gamaliel. Saul's early profession was tent–making, which eventually became the initial connection
with Priscilla and Aquila whom he partnered with and became vital mates as missionaries .
Furthermore, he took an active part in the martyrdom of Saint Stephen, first martyr and deacon, by
giving his approval and guarding the clothes of those who were killing him . Following his approval
of the mob's murderous actions, Saul ravaged the church, entering the homes of believers,
committing them to prison, and even locking up female believers.
On his way to Damascus from Jerusalem to further his persecution against Christians, Jesus
appeared to him in a great light, he fell on the ground, and heard a powerful voice that said unto
him, "Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me "? Thus, according to the accounts in the book of Acts,
Saint Paul's conversion took place on the road to Damascus, where he

Saint Paul : The Life Of St. Paul
St. Paul was originally called Saul. Saul was a Roman Citizen as well as a Jew from Tarsus. He was
very highly educated in the Law of Moses and was a student of Gamaliel. Saul hated Christianity
and wanted to destroy Christians. When St. Stephen was killed, many Christians in Jerusalem fled to
Damascus and other places in order to protect themselves. Because of this, Saul went to Damascus
in order to persecute the Christians there. As Saul neared Damascus, a bright light flashed all around
him, blinding Saul. Then a voice from the light said, "Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?" Saul
asked, "Who are you, Lord?" The voice then said, "I am Jesus whom you are persecuting." The
guards with Saul saw the bright light, but nobody else other than Saul heard the voice of Jesus.
When Saul got up, he was blind from the light so his companions led him into Damascus. He stayed
there blind for three days and during those three days, he neither drank or ate anything. There was a
disciple of Jesus in Damascus, whose name was Ananias. God told Ananias in a vision to go to Saul
and heal him of his blindness. Ananias was astonished that God told him to go and heal the worst
enemy of the Church, but the Lord, in turn, said "Go for he is a chosen instrument of mine to carry
my name before the Gentiles and kings and the sons of Israel." Ananias went to the house where
Saul was staying. He placed his hand on Saul and said, "Brother Saul, be filled with the Holy
Spirit." Right then, Saul regained his eyesight. After Ananias healed Saul from his blindness,
Ananias also baptized Saul. After Saul's baptism, Saul became an earnest follower of Jesus Christ.
Later, Saul had changed his name to St. Paul. From that point forward, St. Paul became the great
missionary of the early Church. In the New Testament, we can see fourteen letters written by St.
Paul to various churches. For St. Paul's first missionary, Barnabas and St. Paul went to Salamis,
where they preached the gospel in the synagogues of the Jews. They went to the whole island of
Salamis preaching the gospel and then they reached Paphos, where the Lord punished a magician for
his devilish acts to turn the Roman officer, Sergius Paulus,

Paul's Three Journeys
Paul's Three Journeys
Saul was a person who individually wronged Jesus. Paul was one who did everything possible to
further God's Kingdom. Saul and Paul were the same earthly person, but Saul was personally
confronted by Jesus after He rose from the dead. Jesus Himself questioned Saul as to why he
persecuted Him. After this encounter, his heart was transformed and as a Christian became known as
Paul. Paul was a tremendously devoted servant of God and set out to do God's work. Paul's work
consisted of three missionary adventures to Asia Minor, Greece, and Macedonia (Bartholomew and
Goheen 196, 204).
Paul's first journey entailed his travel with Barnabas to Cyprus in the year AD 47 (Elwell and
Yarbrough 244). He then continued on as a devout ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He chose Ephesus, a leading town and the capital of the Roman area of Asia, to build and establish a
church (Elwell and Yarbrough 227). This very worthwhile journey lasted for over three years, which
was 54–57 AD. Paul observed the conversion of many hearts of those who were formerly devil
worshipers (Elwell and Yarbrough 227). Paul departed Ephesus and went to Macedonia and Greece
where he inspired churches in Athens, Corinth, Berea, Thessalonica, and Philippi. He spent three
months in Greece writing to the Christians in Rome. This was Paul's most famous letter. The letter
details the gospel and the association of the Jews and the Gentiles. Paul completes his journey by
going back to Jerusalem. At the request of the Jewish leaders, he is arrested by the Romans
(Bartholomew and Goheen 202–203). Paul stayed in prison for two years, and eventually the
charges were dropped (Elwell and Yarbrough 228–229). He is the one that delivered the gospel from
the original Jewish environment to the Gentiles, and as a great missionary helped to nourish
churches, furthering God's Kingdom (Bartholomew and Goheen

Act 15 And Galatians 2 Essay
Traveling from the church in Antioch to Jerusalem, Barnabas, Paul and Mark set out to spread the
Gospel. "Both Acts 15 and Galatians 2:1–10 detail a meeting in Jerusalem. Although they are not
identical, the overwhelming similarities suggest that both passages are indeed descriptions of the
same event." Based on the meetings written in Acts 15 and Galatians 2, they are both difficult to
comprehend as though it was the same event. A problem is mentioned that the missionaries
encounter when they reach the village. This problem concerns the teachings of the Mosaic Law and
current requirements that God asks from his people. The passages differentiate with the main
preachers that are involved. The conclusion is made that the two excerpts may be ... Show more

David Noel Freedman. New York: Doubleday, 1992). Luke was the author who may be responsible
for connecting the stories written in Acts 15 and Galatians 2:1–10. It is possible that he could of
have received, reported information at the same time; about the Jerusalem Council visit and the
famine visit. During the twentieth century, hypothetical opinions about the two stories caused a stir
up. There are numerous accounts of scholars who have argued if the two meetings were the same.
The passage of Acts contains less credibility than the visit written in Galatians. Problems can be
found in John Knox's three–visit hypothesis, when analyzing other scholars thoughts. The
conclusion is set that details were left out in both passages, and it is possible that the story recorded
in Galatians concerns the Jerusalem Council visit(Longenecker, Richard N. Galatians. Word Biblical
Commentary. Dallas: Word, 1990). The connection between Acts 15 and Galatians 2 is overall to be
a mistake made from the author Luke. The two passages are analyzed and broken down by scholars
as they research a conclusion for this mystery. The major compliment that is included in both books
is that Paul was on a mission to solve the problem referring to the Old Law with leaders and God's
people. Luke gave

Conflict Resolution Of The United States
This year students have taken a rather exciting adventure into the wonderful world of conflict
resolution; more importantly, conflict resolution in the church. For the past six weeks students have
constantly studied the different type of conflicts as well as the different methods of resolving the
conflicts in question. This paper will cover a variety of the types of conflicts and some of the
resolution learned in the class this year. In addition to that, the paper will also detail different case
studies of the Bible where these particular conflicts are shown, how they developed, and finally,
how they were resolved.
One of the first examples of conflict resolution we discovered was conflict that is resolved by
cessation of proximity. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Paul not really wanting a repeat of what transpired in the past actually disagrees with Barnabas.
Even though Mark is involved in the conflict, the actually conflict is between the close friends Paul
and Barnabas. There was an underlying issue that most don't see without adequate Bible Study;
Mark and Barnabas were cousins. Nevertheless, the motivating interest in the conflict was that Paul
for one did not want another repeat where a brother would desert him while preaching the Gospel of
the Lord. Secondly, Paul more than likely questioned Mark's faith in Christ after he fled so easily the
first time. The conflict yet is finally resolved when Paul and Barnabas that the cessation of
proximity approach and split from each other. This is one of the saddest splits of the Bible in the
eyes of many scholars. After this conflict, Paul and Barnabas are never mentioned together again.
We should learn to take out relationships more seriously and attempt every effort of reconciliation
before they consider this damaging route of relationship destruction.
Another conflict resolution method is attempting to resolve a conflict by speaking the truth in love.
This in all aspects will take the power of God and the Holy Spirit; all have heard the saying that "It's
not what you say, but how you say it". This is where speaking truth in love comes into play in a
matter of conflict resolution. As the Bible states on the subject of love, "Love is

The Epistle Of Barnabas Research Paper
"Having received the forgiveness of sins, and placed our trust in the name of the Lord, we have
become new creatures, formed again from the beginning." (Barnabas, The Epistle of
Barnabas).Throughout The Epistle of Barnabas, there is a reoccurring theme of forgiveness and
salvation through belief in Jesus Christ; whether through the comparison of the Jews verses the
Christian faith, the explanation of the New Covenant, or the two ways of doctrine and authority.
There is a big emphasis on the fact that real salvation and forgiveness of the Jews was not a real
faith, but was a culture of work–based faith. Barnabas helped give modern–day Christians hope in
acceptance, salvation, and laid out a plan for the right way to follow God. ... Show more content on

The temple in Jerusalem being cast down was a very important historical event for every believer to
come. The people of that time thought that the physical temple in Jerusalem was the only place God
dwelt. The temple was their center of life and they trusted in the temple more than they trusted in
God himself. The Bible makes a slight hint that the destruction of the temple was an event sent by
God saying, "And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the Lord will deliver up the sheep of His
pasture, and their sheep–fold and tower, to destruction." However, this is also a warning and
prophecy for what is to come during the end of the world. God wanted to show the believers back
then that He rests in them and that their body and soul become where
He resides.
"The Two Ways of Doctrine" are a short part of The Epistle of Barnabas, but they are highly
important to the Christian faith. The first way, the way of light, tells future believers that if they
want to go somewhere they must be zealous in their work, they must love God and glorify Him, they
must hate to do what is unpleasing, not commit adultery, love their neighbor more than themselves,
not claim things as their own, along with so many other things. The second

My Second Clinical Day At Saint Barnabas Hospital
My second clinical day took place on September 24th, 2015 at Saint Barnabas Hospital in
Livingston, New Jersey. My preceptor Maria Brilhante, MSN, RN, allowed me to observe the
morning huddle that took place with all the nurse managers that are in the hospital. The purpose of
this huddle was to keep the director of nursing informed about the census on each unit. I found this
processed to be very uniformed and professional because the DON was engaged. The day went on
with me attending meetings on how managers could implement plans to contain cost for the
hospital. Maria did her daily rounds on her patients and her nursing staff. She has a folder that
contains papers on how each nurse is progressing from the time they get off orientation. Her motto
to the nurses is, "You are good at what you do, so when I coach don't take offense. I am only trying
to get you to be great". This boost their confidence which I thought to be important.
Objective 3– Explain the interrelation among theory, practice, and research and describe how to
identify practice discrepancies between standards and practice that may affect patient outcomes. In
nursing, there is a strong relationship between theory, practice, and research. The nursing curriculum
first teaches students the basic concept in caring for patients. Theory of nursing is like the
foundation. It allows a student to piece information together to see the main idea. A student must
first know what the profession stands for. The concepts

Barnabas
Barnabas was an enormously influential individual in the early church that does not get much

of the apostles. Barnabas had a part in impacting many lives for the cause of Christ. He legitimized
Paul, rehabilitated John Mark, and helped fund the church in Jerusalem. Without Barnabas, the early
church may have been very different than it turned out to be.
Barnabas is first introduced in Acts 4. His given name is Joses, and the Bible says that the apostles

saw Joses. The name Barnabas means, "the son of consolation." It is evident that Barnabas ... Show

During this portion of the trip, Paul and Barnabas journeyed through the central region of Asia
Minor. Paul preached a salvation message to the Jews in Antioch Pisidia. After the message, many
of the Jews followed after Paul and Barnabas who persuaded the Jews to continue in the grace of
God. The next Sabbath, almost the whole city came to hear the Word of God from Paul and
Barnabas, but the religious Jews spoke against Paul. The Bible says that Paul and Barnabas waxed
bold, and they told the Jews that the Gospel would now go to the Gentiles because of their unbelief.
When the Gentiles heard this message, they rejoiced, glorified the Word of the Lord, and believed.
The Jews stirred up an insurgency and started to persecute Paul and Barnabas, and the Jews expelled
the men of God from their coasts. Paul and Barnabas' response was to shake off the dust from their
feet. The same thing happened to them in Iconium (Acts 13:14–Acts 14:6). After that, they fled to
the cities of Lycaonia. In the city of Lystra, Paul healed a man who could not walk. After this
miracle, the people of the city cried out, "The gods are come down to us in the likeness of men"
(Acts 14:11). The people said that Barnabas was Jupiter and Paul was Mercury because he was the
chief speaker. When Barnabas and Paul understood what was happening, they rent their clothes and
begged the people to stop. They explained to the people that they were men just like them, and

How Did Zeus Influence Roman People
Although not always mentioned in the Bible, Roman gods impacted the lives of people in the Bible
times a lot. One of the more significant Roman gods, Zeus, was highly respected for his power and
authority. In the book of Acts, two disciples, Paul and Barnabas, healed a crippled man while
traveling through a town called Lystra. The crowd praised them and said, "These men are gods in
human form!" They called the Barnabas, the man traveling with Paul, Zeus. Zeus was a well
honored and powerful god at the time, so it was thought that only a god like Zeus could do
something so miraculous. While Zeus filled the spirit of some people at that time, the true God was
in complete control despite what of the people at Lystra thought. Although Zeus is not ... Show more

In the book of Acts as Paul continues on his first missionary journey with Barnabas, they make their
way into the city of Lystra where Paul was being called to. In Lystra a lame man was there who was
never able to walk! In Acts 14 it states that the man had great enough faith to be healed. Since Paul
saw that he had great faith he said to the man, "Stand up on your feet!" Then man began to walk!
The people at Lystra said, "The gods have come down to us in human form!" Based off all the myths
about Roman gods and interactions with human beings, it was highly believable to people in that
time that such a god would be able to heal a lame man's hand in Lystra! Back in the day people
believed Roman gods were working behind the scenes to make nature work the way it does. For
most people they did not incorporate Roman gods into their religion or belief, just as a way to
interpret and explain how stuff was happening around them. However, according to Mythology:
Timeless Tales of Gods and Heroes, Zeus, the Father god, played part in people's religion. People
depended on him for stuff, such as rain, so they began to worship him in order to please him
(Hamilton). Since there was a temple outside of the city of Lystra they began to offer bulls and
wreaths to him because they thought Zeus was the one to do such a miracle. However, when Paul
and Barnabas heard and saw all of this, they became absolutely furious.

a certain amount since the hospital had to pay its previous debt, so Reid thought of cutting down the
costs. He also thought closing down the clinics would give a great boost to the financial condition of
Blake Memorial leading to provide better quality of care for the patients. But there was a debate
about closing the clinics because the director of clinics of Blake Dr. Susan Russell didn't want the
clinics to shut down. She argued that the patients that visit the clinics they wouldn't visit the hospital
even if they were getting free transportation provided. Reid was confused about how he should
improve the quality of care and manage the financial records of his hospital that was in charge of.
He asked Dr. Russells to send him the report of clinics records to see what kind of patients come in

Scripture On Conflict
Conflict. It surrounds and permeates every part of humanity. Everyone deals with it. Nations,
schools, churches, families, and individuals all must handle conflict from time to time. So, with all
this conflict, how are we supposed to know the correct way to handle it all? Scripture is full of
various kinds of conflict. Within the Bible, examples of how to and how not to manage every kind
of conflict lines the pages. Scripture provides the ultimate basis for God's plan to resolve conflict.
An Example of Cessation of Proximity In Acts 15:36–41, an interesting conflict sparks between two
of the greatest missionaries in the New Testament. Paul and Barnabas had traveled together on
Paul's first recorded missionary journey. If the results written in Acts 13:4–12 are any indication, the
two men appear to have made quite the team. What could have caused a conflict so great that the
only way to resolve it would be separation? Also going along on Paul's first missionary was
Barnabas' cousin John Mark. However, when Paul, Barnabas, and John Mark reached the city of
Perga in Asia Minor he left the group and returned to Jerusalem. Scripture does not cite any reason
or provide any explanation. John Mark simply left. Fast forward to Paul's second missionary
journey. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Fortunately, a wise town clerk had the courage to address the massive throng. Following a lengthy
speech, the town clerk "dismissed the assembly" and the conflict was terminated. Because of the
council of Paul's companions (who insisted that Paul should not address the angry crowd), Paul was
unharmed and the town clerk's speech reminded the people that conflicts ought to be handled
through legal channels rather than riots. The Bible records no damage or injuries from this conflict.
Basically, a terrible situation that could have gone south in a hurry ended with no evidence that it
had ever occurred – all because of a town clerk's wise

Pastoral Response Paper

  • 1. Pastoral Response Paper To prepare churches for the challenges of pastoral searches, I recently introduced a fictitious congregation named "St. Barnabas Lutheran Church." Readers provided a good deal of affirmation for the post, but they also wanted to know how to improve the call process. We go back to St. Barnabas today to start answering that question. If you are "first–time visitor" to St. Barnabas, here's what you should know. More than a year ago, St. Barnabas' pastor retired at age 67 after serving the church for 15 years. It took about eight months to issue the initial call to a candidate, only to see the call declined. Now starting the second year of vacancy, the call committee decided to create an "after action" report to learn from the experience of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The call committee had a task list, but not SMART goals. As such, the call committee... Lost track of some tasks, competing them haphazardly. Held meetings two or three weeks late. Didn't always contact all the pastoral candidates with updates. The lack of planning really left the call committee unprepared for the initial congregational meeting to call a pastor. The meeting went so poorly, the committee had to table calling a pastor and schedule another congregational meeting. First, The call committee provided a brief written summary of each candidate. Congregational members wanted more information. One member even pointed out her sister's church, who is calling a pastor, placed video interviews and sermons of each candidates on the church website. Second, the call committee choose to not prepare salary and benefits charts for all the candidates, opting to wait until the church choose a candidate to compile this information. Some members wanted to know the benefits cost of each candidate before voting. Third, the call committee decided to use a voice vote to call the pastor. Members asked for written ballots. The committee was unprepared for written ballots. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Summary Of ' First Missionary Journey ' First Missionary Journey The book of Acts describes how Paul was ministering in Antioch with Barnabas, when he was directed by the Holy Spirit to be released from his Church duties. The Holy Spirit had another assignment for Paul, and that was to go and take the Gospel more widely. Some believe that this notion came from the Holy Spirit through fasting and prayer. Paul began his first missionary in the town of Antioch. Throughout Paul's first missionary journey he was accompanied by Barnabas and Barnabas cousin John Mark. God gave Paul a mission to preach the Gospel to the Gentiles. They traveled from city to city spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ. However, the message was not always being received. It is really no confirmed certainty on why John Mark eventually left Paul and Barnabas to return to Jerusalem. The Jews went on record as being in opposition to the Gospel, but Paul kept preaching the Gospel to the Gentiles. Paul saw that the Gentiles were very receptive to the Gospel. Although many Gentiles accepted the Gospel of Jesus Christ, there were Jews that continued to display their anger towards the Gospel. There were some Jews that came and stirred up the crowd at Lystra against Paul and Barnabas. This crowd also stoned and left Paul for dead, but Paul did not allow that to stop him from preaching the Gospel to the city of Lystra. Lystra and Derbe proved to be fruitful areas to preach the Gospel, but not without their difficulties. One convert at Lystra on this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These programs have helped me to be comfortable in diverse situations. I believe these involvements will help strengthen the goals I have set for myself. I am a triplet. I have a brother, Chandler, and sister, Paige. The three of us are very close, closer than most siblings. We have special bond and will be attending the same college this fall. all decided that we want to attend the same college in the fall. I walked back to the cabin alone to find everyone meeting and bonding with their campers. I slowly climbed up into my bed on the top bunk. I watched everyone smiling and laughing while I was left there alone. Why did this have to happen to me? What is God's plan for me this week? Dreadfully, I got out of bed, exhausted from weeping all night. Without my chosen camper, I became a "floater" which meant I got to help the other CIA's and their campers. Chelsea, a CIA from Austin, immediately needed my assistance. I reluctantly made it over to Chelsea and her camper, Emma. Emma was nonverbal and wheelchair bound. She had to be fed through a tube and wore briefs, or adult diapers. Little did I know, Emma, Chelsea and I would become best friends, sharing our triumphs and failures in life. The three of us would do everything at camp together. On the extensive walks to the camps' doctor's office for routine feedings, we would share personal stories unbeknownst to anyone in our lives. I shared my struggle of my camper, Paige, not showing up and how incredibly difficult it was for me to see everyone have someone to share the most life changing week with. Opening up to them in one of the hardest situations I had ever faced was beyond valuable. Through this tough and emotional experience I found myself, but more importantly, God. • 17. Authorship Of Hebrews The author for the book of Hebrews is unknown, as there is no ascription or introduction given by the author; therefore, scholars may only propose possible authors without confirming who it is. With that said, many scholars have pushed for Pauline because in earlier manuscripts Hebrews followed Romans which they thought warranted Pauline authorship. Some of the early church fathers believe that there is Pauline influence, however, not Pauline authorship simply for the reason that Hebrews seems to be written by a well–educated Greek with elaborate and complex language. There are other suggestions made by scholars, most of which they are unable to support. Pricilla is one example, it would be fitting for her authorship of Hebrews based on her being in Paul's inner circle and the book having Pauline influence, however, one would have to look past the strong presence of the authors masculine self–reference. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Moreover, Luke translates Barnabas to mean "son of consolation" which ties into Hebrews being a "word of consolation" (Johnson). He is also described as interacting with Paul through missions, which Paul confirms in his letters, however, this does not confirm his authorship as there are also various things that would not agree with his authorship. Lastly, there is discussion concerning Apollos as the author of Hebrews, there are many connections that have been made, such as, Apollos being a Jew and Hebrews showing strong knowledge of Judaism, Apollos being well learned in the Scriptures and the intricate scriptural citations used in Hebrews, among other things. Though there are many aspects that agree with Apollos authorship, it must only be speculation due to the disagreements that also arise in the argument for his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 21. Paul And Barnaba Research Paper Paul's first missionary journey led him and his companions into the southern portion of Galatia. They were able to stand before those in the synagogues and proclaim the good news to the Jews and the God–fearing Gentiles (Acts 13–14). Initially the journey was productive as many Jewish and Gentile adherents wanted to hear further from Paul and his companions. Luke shares that as Paul and Barnabas went throughout the cities, jealous and sacrilegious Jews stirred up hostility by speaking against the words of Paul (Acts 13:44). D.A Carson and Douglas Moo shares, "the preachers turned to the Gentiles and made converts from among them." However, the Jews quickly moved to eject Paul and his companions from the region; therefore, they progressed to other areas. Paul's purpose for writing Galatians was to express his concern that the newly converted Galatians were deserting the gospel of grace and turning to a different gospel (Gal 1:6). Further, he wanted to share that there were some who desired to mislead them by misrepresenting the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Thomas Lea and David Black states that these Judaizers were considered false teachers and promoted "legalism." F.F. Bruce shares that they were "trouble–makers," imparting unto their hearers what they stated was the true knowledge of God, which Paul fervently protested (Ga1 4:9). According to Carson, "the false teachers saw Christianity as a modified Judaism; they were teaching that to be in covenant relationship to God means to submit to the requirements of the law." They wanted to compel the Gentile Christians to practice circumcision, obey Mosaic Law and certain festivals, and promoted an interest in being "sons of Abraham". The Judaizers remarked, "Unless you are circumcised, according to the custom taught by Moses, you cannot be saved" (Acts ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 25. Scripture : The Apostle Paul Among the many New Testament characters recorded in Scripture, the Apostle Paul, by far, is one of the most intriguing. Like the twelve apostles who were companions of Jesus during His earthly ministry, the Apostle Paul was far from perfect but he possessed an extraordinary zeal for God that stood out against the other apostles. Consequently, Jesus likely took notice of Paul's zeal as well, thus it is no surprise, at least to this author, that Jesus would choose Paul to take the gospel to the Gentiles in faraway lands. Unfortunately, little is known about Paul's early life. However, and according to Scripture, Paul was likely born around the time of Jesus' birth (Acts 7:58) in the City of Tarsus, Cecilia, which was a providence of the Roman Empire (McCray, 2003). Tarsus, being a providence of Roman Empire, also made the young Paul a Roman Citizen and Diaspora Jew which Paul would later use to his advantage when facing three separate cases of persecution (Acts 16:37; Acts 22:25–29; Acts 24:27) in the Book of Acts (McCray, 2003). The City of Tarsus was a major manufacturing and educational center in the ancient world that laid on a commercial route in southeastern region of Asia Minor, and it is likely that Tarsus, as well as Paul, felt the cultural influences of Stoic philosophy, however, it is difficult to assess what influence Greek thought may have had on a young Paul (Elwell, 1997). Regardless, Paul, in all likelihood studied Stoic philosophy and benefited greatly from an education as a youth in Tarsus because of his Roman citizenship. Aside from Paul's birth, it is not entirely clear how Paul acquired his Roman citizenship, thus it is suggested that Paul's father or his descendants became Roman citizens through military or public service while becoming Hellenized in the process (McCray, 2003). Accordingly, Paul was given both a Hebrew name (Shaul or Saul) and a Roman Cognomen name (Paulus or Paul) which Saul would use after his conversion to Christianity (McCray, 2003). Regardless of the lack clarity surrounding Paul's citizenship and upbringing in Tarsus, it is abundantly clear in Paul's epistles that he obtained a Greek education as he could relate to the Gentiles with relative ease (Elwell, ... • 29. The Cask Of Amontillado Short Story "Jolly good my man!" Barnabas laughed so hard he sloshed his liquor down the front of his blazer. Fortunato eyes crinkled with happiness at his friend. It was a week until the carnival started, as Fortunato was getting his wine moved from the cellar to the main house, in time for the celebration. Fortunato prided himself on his excellent taste in alcoholic beverages, much better than his fellow man Luchesi, a man as rich as Fortunato, yet is Fortunato's only competition for wine tasting. Analysis of “Dark Shadows” as a Gothic Masterpiece Analysis of "Dark Shadows" as a Gothic Masterpiece To most, when asked to define what Gothic is, they will state that it is similar to any other story, just with more "darkness." This is because Gothic stories all have a classic story line. First, there is the main character's back story, if any is then told. Next, there are events that lead up to a horrible incident that is the climax of the story. Lastly, the character finds some way to fix the situation or free him– or herself from it. They might go insane, commit suicide, run away, or watch other characters perish. However, readers would be greatly mistaken if they thought that this was all that there is to a Gothic story; there is much more to the Gothic than meets the ... While the light hurt him, he was able to merely wear a hat and cloak and not be harmed. However, there is still much more to Gothic Literature. According to Baldick, "For the Gothic effect to be attained, a tale should combine a fearful sense of inheritance in time with a claustrophobic sense of enclosure in space" (xix). A story can have Gothic tropes but not be Gothic. There are loads of books that have murders and ghosts that aren't considered Gothic at all, like Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling. His parents were killed and there was a ghost trapped in the girl's bathroom, but it isn't Gothic at all. What makes a story Gothic is how it is told or portrayed. Sometimes, the scenes that are used are to make the viewers question what is righteous and what is wicked. Burton shows this with how he introduces his characters and their personalities. For the vampire Barnabas, he is portrayed not as monster but as an unfortunate soul who has a curse that he is trying to rid himself of. Instead of wanting to stay a vampire, he joins up with a local physician to try and find a cure to make him human again. However, he still kills humans and drinks their blood. This makes the audience question whether Barnabas is an evil vampire or a poor man with a curse due to this hidden identity. This is also shown with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 37. Hebrews : An Essay Depth Look At The Authorship And... This paper will discuss the book of Hebrews with an in–depth look at the authorship and Hebrews 11. The book of Hebrews has fallen into a category of its own. The book quotes extensively from the Old Testament. It proclaims that Jesus Christ is superior and Christianity over other religions, including Judaism. The author demonstrates ways for following Jesus. It speaks to anyone who is wondering why they should follow Jesus. For some twelve hundred years from 400AD to 1600AD the book was commonly called the Epistle of Paul to the Hebrews. When we take a look at the letters of Paul. They form some of the most famous yet recognized letters of the New Testament. However, there are another group of eight letters. Hebrews being one of those letters. It is thought that these letters are not truly letters. But a set of tracts or even written versions of sermons aimed at the early Christian communities (Davis, 1998). According to Davis, Hebrews was probably aimed at Jewish converts to Christianity. Because few non–Jewish Christians of the early period would not have understood references to Noah, Abraham, Lot and other familiar Israelites. What also makes Hebrews unique is that the date and authorship is unknown. Scholars believe that it was most likely written between AD60–AD65. The book is not addressed to anyone specific. It begins without a personal greeting typical of other New Testament letters. There are however, several theories as to whom the author is. I will ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Barnaba da Modena's 'The Virgin and Child': Analysis The present work is focused on undertaking an in–depth analysis of two famous religious paintings: The Virgin and Child by Barnaba da Modena, an Italian painter from the fourteenth century, and The Elevation of the Cross by Peter Paul Rubens, a seventeenth century Flemish artist and diplomat. Following, by comparison, a thorough account of the two works' features, careful observation reveals more than one interpretation. The Virgin and Child was created by Barnaba da Modena in 1360, and is deemed Gothic in style. It depicts The Virgin Mary holding a Child Christ in her arms, and rests undamaged to this day in Boston's Museum of Fine Arts. In terms of formal elements, it is 39.4 inches in height and 24.8 inches in width (100 x 63 cm), a religious painting executed by means of tempera on panel. The enduring framing edges might indicate that the painting was initially planned to be the central piece of a polyptych. A first impression is that of anachronism: its opulent golden background and the intricate striation outlines on the Madonna's mantle seem to indicate a much earlier conception, mainly Byzantine in nature. However, the Byzantine herring– bone pattern is clearly endowed with a more modern linear roundness. Obvious from the start is the artist's careful attention to details, illustrated in the richly decorated background and characters' attire. Employing this general density automatically enhances the Virgin's gaze, making it charged with severity, intense. On ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 57. The Argument That Paul Could Be The Authorship Of Hebrews In some other books of the Bible it states who the author is in the beginning of the book, but in Hebrews the author is not stated. One argument says that Paul is the author and other argument says otherwise. The 4 arguments that Paul could be the authorship of Hebrews is, "Paul's rabbinical training under Gamliel, knowledge of Judaism, Paul's close relationship to Timothy, Peters reference to the writing of Paul," (Peretti et al.2004, 34). Why would people think Hebrews is authored by paul? The reason why some arguments say that is because of, "Paul's rabbinical training under Gamliel and knowledge of Judaism" (Peretti et al.2004, 34). Paul had studied under Gamliel, which makes a good argument that he would be the author of Hebrews. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Past and presents scholars supported this theory. " For there is extant with an Epistle of the Hebrews under the name of Barnabas– a man sufficiently accredited by God, as being one whom Paul has stationed next to himself in the interrupted observance when Paul was not there" (Tertullian 20). Likewise, Gregory of Elvira was a supporter of Barnabas writing Hebrews. Bishop of Brescia says that the book of Hebrews was written from Barnabas. The suggestion that scholars assume that Barnabas the author of Hebrews is, "he was a Levite of Cyprus" (Allen 2010, 41). Because Barnabas was a Levite he had a big interest in the Old Testament and their sacrificial technique. Also, Barnabas was an affiliate with the group called the Pauline circle. In that circle involved Timothy and the author of Hebrew. It is said that the author of Hebrew known to have a relationship with Timothy. Barnabas knew Timothy because he was in the area that Paul and Barnabas evangelized. "The Hellenistic perspective in Hebrews suggests to some scholars that Barnabas was the author. When the Antiochene Hellenists were evangelized, the church at Jerusalem sent Barnabas to coordinate this new thrust" (Allen 2010, 41). Barnabas was known as a man who exhorts others, and the author of Hebrews is called a "word of exhortation" (Hebrew 13:22). Anti Judaism Movement Using the letter of Barnabas and the book of Hebrews as resources we begin to see the rise of the anti–Judaism movement occur in Rome at what begins as a relatively harmless uprising. Anti– Judaism literature began to be written when Christianity was not the official religion of the Roman Empire, in fact, it accounted for a very small population of the Roman Empire. (Ehrman, 449) It is believed that Christianity was not more prominent in Rome during this time because of the funding and organization it required that was just not available for such a small group. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The religion was very well known and organized throughout the society. (Ehrman, 450) Because of this, the few early Christian writers began to feel "threatened" and needed to raise Christianity up by dragging Judaism down with public knowledge hence the creation of public writings. All of the writings had different focuses when it came to the part of Judaism it was degrading and as mentioned became more aggressive as time went on. For example, the book of Hebrews makes the claim that Judaism is the precursor to Christianity and that Jesus Christ is superior to all Jewish religious figures, (Ehrman, 449) while the letter of Barnabas claimed that the Judaist religion is a false religion and they have no right to the scriptures intended because of the now rising of Christianity. (Ehrman, 447) Although both pieces degrade Judaism you can see a clear difference in where the book of Hebrews just claims that Christianity is superior to Judaism versus the letter of Barnabas that develops a clear attack on the Jewish religion by prosecuting them as a false religion. Although the writers of each of these pieces could not predict the future outcomes for both religions, the authors must take responsibility for what began the prosecution of the Jews and the devastation they both lead ... This paper is a SWOT analysis, and addresses the strengths and weaknesses within the hospital, as well as opportunities and threats outside of the hospital and in the surrounding community. Although limited in abundance, there are specific strengths of Blake Memorial Hospital, such as their new CEO, Bruce Reid, and the strong community base and need for healthcare services. On the other hand, weaknesses within the hospital and clinics, such as poor quality of care and facilities, and a low rate of funding, contribute to the declining performance of the healthcare organization as a whole. Outside of the organization are potential opportunities to cut costs by potentially closing clinics, and as a result, better the quality of care give to patients with increased funding. There are also opportunities to create an emphasis on the neighborhood clinics, for the poorer areas of the city, and potentially increase the referrals to the hospital. Threats outside of Blake Memorial Hospital include competing healthcare facilities such as St. Barnabas; being located in a poor, non affluent area; and threats to cut funding if the clinics are closed. He was the nephew of Barnabas.1 His mother was Mary at whose home in Jerusalem believers gathered in fellowship.2 The early church historians record that he was Peter's amanuensis and wrote the Gospel of Mark in Rome shortly after Peter's death.3 The tradition that John Mark is the author of the Gospel of Mark is reliable and supported by external and internal evidence. In the writings of the early church fathers, Mark is described as Peter's interpreter and the "author of a brief Gospel in accordance with what he had heard Peter narrating."4 It is not clear if John Mark was a disciple of Jesus or an eyewitness to the events he recorded. • 77. Paul And Barnabas: A Thematic Analysis Paul and Barnabas had their fair share of opportunities to dispute their faith and Acts 15 is no different. They were not in a strange position when a situations arose with men from Judea. In this chapter Luke gives us the account of a conflict that was settled by the council at Jerusalem. It is hard to tell if the men from Judea were being legalistic or if they were sincerely trying to obey the word of God but was taught incorrectly until now. But either way there was a conflict that needed resolved, a solution that was presented and who better to be in this debate then the apostle Paul himself. Acts 15 verse one states the conflict, " And certain men which came down from Judea taught the brethren, and said, Except ye be circumcised after the manner of Moses, ye cannot be saved." These men are siding with one must follow the law to be saved and Paul and Barnabas were not pleased with this. Christians should not seek out conflict and debates but there are more important issues that need to be addressed at times that require standing up. Saint Paul's name before his conversion to Christianity was Saul, an individual who devoted his life to the persecution of Christians and early disciples in Jerusalem. He was a Hebrew from the tribe of Benjamin, a Pharisee, and someone who is very literate in Judaism faith as well. He was born into a devout Jewish family in Tarsus of Cilicia, hence known as Saul of Tarsus, one of the major trade centers on the Mediterranean Coast in present day Turkey. During his early life, he was sent to Jerusalem to receive his education in classical literature, philosophy, law, and ethics under Rabbi Gamaliel. Saul's early profession was tent–making, which eventually became the initial connection with Priscilla and Aquila whom he partnered with and became vital mates as missionaries . Furthermore, he took an active part in the martyrdom of Saint Stephen, first martyr and deacon, by giving his approval and guarding the clothes of those who were killing him . Following his approval of the mob's murderous actions, Saul ravaged the church, entering the homes of believers, committing them to prison, and even locking up female believers. On his way to Damascus from Jerusalem to further his persecution against Christians, Jesus appeared to him in a great light, he fell on the ground, and heard a powerful voice that said unto him, "Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me "? • 90. Saint Paul : The Life Of St. Paul St. Paul was originally called Saul. Saul was a Roman Citizen as well as a Jew from Tarsus. He was very highly educated in the Law of Moses and was a student of Gamaliel. Saul hated Christianity and wanted to destroy Christians. When St. Stephen was killed, many Christians in Jerusalem fled to Damascus and other places in order to protect themselves. Because of this, Saul went to Damascus in order to persecute the Christians there. As Saul neared Damascus, a bright light flashed all around him, blinding Saul. Then a voice from the light said, "Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?" Saul asked, "Who are you, Lord?" The voice then said, "I am Jesus whom you are persecuting." The guards with Saul saw the bright light, but nobody else other than Saul heard the voice of Jesus. When Saul got up, he was blind from the light so his companions led him into Damascus. He stayed there blind for three days and during those three days, he neither drank or ate anything. There was a disciple of Jesus in Damascus, whose name was Ananias. God told Ananias in a vision to go to Saul and heal him of his blindness. Ananias was astonished that God told him to go and heal the worst enemy of the Church, but the Lord, in turn, said "Go for he is a chosen instrument of mine to carry my name before the Gentiles and kings and the sons of Israel." Ananias went to the house where Saul was staying. He placed his hand on Saul and said, "Brother Saul, be filled with the Holy Spirit." Right then, Saul regained his eyesight. After Ananias healed Saul from his blindness, Ananias also baptized Saul. After Saul's baptism, Saul became an earnest follower of Jesus Christ. Later, Saul had changed his name to St. Paul. From that point forward, St. Paul became the great missionary of the early Church. In the New Testament, we can see fourteen letters written by St. Paul to various churches. For St. Paul's first missionary, Barnabas and St. Paul went to Salamis, where they preached the gospel in the synagogues of the Jews. They went to the whole island of Salamis preaching the gospel and then they reached Paphos, where the Lord punished a magician for his devilish acts to turn the Roman officer, Sergius Paulus, ... It is possible that he could of have received, reported information at the same time; about the Jerusalem Council visit and the famine visit. During the twentieth century, hypothetical opinions about the two stories caused a stir up. There are numerous accounts of scholars who have argued if the two meetings were the same. The passage of Acts contains less credibility than the visit written in Galatians. Problems can be found in John Knox's three–visit hypothesis, when analyzing other scholars thoughts. The conclusion is set that details were left out in both passages, and it is possible that the story recorded in Galatians concerns the Jerusalem Council visit(Longenecker, Richard N. Galatians. Word Biblical Commentary. Dallas: Word, 1990). The connection between Acts 15 and Galatians 2 is overall to be a mistake made from the author Luke. The two passages are analyzed and broken down by scholars as they research a conclusion for this mystery. The major compliment that is included in both books is that Paul was on a mission to solve the problem referring to the Old Law with leaders and God's people. Luke gave ... • 106. Conflict Resolution Of The United States This year students have taken a rather exciting adventure into the wonderful world of conflict resolution; more importantly, conflict resolution in the church. For the past six weeks students have constantly studied the different type of conflicts as well as the different methods of resolving the conflicts in question. This paper will cover a variety of the types of conflicts and some of the resolution learned in the class this year. In addition to that, the paper will also detail different case studies of the Bible where these particular conflicts are shown, how they developed, and finally, how they were resolved. One of the first examples of conflict resolution we discovered was conflict that is resolved by cessation of proximity. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Paul not really wanting a repeat of what transpired in the past actually disagrees with Barnabas. Even though Mark is involved in the conflict, the actually conflict is between the close friends Paul and Barnabas. There was an underlying issue that most don't see without adequate Bible Study; Mark and Barnabas were cousins. Nevertheless, the motivating interest in the conflict was that Paul for one did not want another repeat where a brother would desert him while preaching the Gospel of the Lord. Secondly, Paul more than likely questioned Mark's faith in Christ after he fled so easily the first time. The conflict yet is finally resolved when Paul and Barnabas that the cessation of proximity approach and split from each other. This is one of the saddest splits of the Bible in the eyes of many scholars. After this conflict, Paul and Barnabas are never mentioned together again. We should learn to take out relationships more seriously and attempt every effort of reconciliation before they consider this damaging route of relationship destruction. Another conflict resolution method is attempting to resolve a conflict by speaking the truth in love. This in all aspects will take the power of God and the Holy Spirit; all have heard the saying that "It's not what you say, but how you say it". This is where speaking truth in love comes into play in a matter of conflict resolution. As the Bible states on the subject of love, "Love is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

(Barnabas, The Epistle of Barnabas).Throughout The Epistle of Barnabas, there is a reoccurring theme of forgiveness and salvation through belief in Jesus Christ; whether through the comparison of the Jews verses the Christian faith, the explanation of the New Covenant, or the two ways of doctrine and authority. There is a big emphasis on the fact that real salvation and forgiveness of the Jews was not a real faith, but was a culture of work–based faith. Barnabas helped give modern–day Christians hope in acceptance, salvation, and laid out a plan for the right way to follow God. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The temple in Jerusalem being cast down was a very important historical event for every believer to come. The people of that time thought that the physical temple in Jerusalem was the only place God dwelt. The temple was their center of life and they trusted in the temple more than they trusted in God himself. The Bible makes a slight hint that the destruction of the temple was an event sent by God saying, "And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the Lord will deliver up the sheep of His pasture, and their sheep–fold and tower, to destruction." However, this is also a warning and prophecy for what is to come during the end of the world. God wanted to show the believers back then that He rests in them and that their body and soul become where He resides. "The Two Ways of Doctrine" are a short part of The Epistle of Barnabas, but they are highly important to the Christian faith. The first way, the way of light, tells future believers that if they want to go somewhere they must be zealous in their work, they must love God and glorify Him, they must hate to do what is unpleasing, not commit adultery, love their neighbor more than themselves, not claim things as their own, along with so many other things. • 114. My Second Clinical Day At Saint Barnabas Hospital My second clinical day took place on September 24th, 2015 at Saint Barnabas Hospital in Livingston, New Jersey. My preceptor Maria Brilhante, MSN, RN, allowed me to observe the morning huddle that took place with all the nurse managers that are in the hospital. The purpose of this huddle was to keep the director of nursing informed about the census on each unit. I found this processed to be very uniformed and professional because the DON was engaged. The day went on with me attending meetings on how managers could implement plans to contain cost for the hospital. Maria did her daily rounds on her patients and her nursing staff. She has a folder that contains papers on how each nurse is progressing from the time they get off orientation. Her motto to the nurses is, "You are good at what you do, so when I coach don't take offense. I am only trying to get you to be great". This boost their confidence which I thought to be important. Objective 3– Explain the interrelation among theory, practice, and research and describe how to identify practice discrepancies between standards and practice that may affect patient outcomes. In nursing, there is a strong relationship between theory, practice, and research. The nursing curriculum first teaches students the basic concept in caring for patients. Theory of nursing is like the foundation. It allows a student to piece information together to see the main idea. A student must first know what the profession stands for. The concepts ... My preceptor Maria Brilhante, MSN, RN, is the manager of three units. The units that she manages are medical– surgical, bariatric, and stroke. The day began with me observing what goes on the unit during shift– to– shift handoff communication. I was introduced to the staff of all three units. On this day the unit was going through their last day of renovation. Maria had to wear a hat of an interior designer for one of her unit where here main office is located. We laughed and joked about it. Other mangers and physicians commended her on being able to still effectively managing her unit through all the chaos. The reality of it was that the unit needed to be altered to meet patient centered care and also equipment had to be positioned a certain way along with the nurses' station being relocated so that nurses will be able to access them better. • 134. Barnabas Barnabas was an enormously influential individual in the early church that does not get much recognition. Although he was not one of the original apostles, he significantly enhanced the ministry of the apostles. Barnabas had a part in impacting many lives for the cause of Christ. He legitimized Paul, rehabilitated John Mark, and helped fund the church in Jerusalem. Without Barnabas, the early church may have been very different than it turned out to be. Barnabas is first introduced in Acts 4. His given name is Joses, and the Bible says that the apostles surname him, Barnabas. This is a very meaningful name, and it is informative on how the apostles saw Joses. The name Barnabas means, "the son of consolation." It is evident that Barnabas ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During this portion of the trip, Paul and Barnabas journeyed through the central region of Asia Minor. Paul preached a salvation message to the Jews in Antioch Pisidia. After the message, many of the Jews followed after Paul and Barnabas who persuaded the Jews to continue in the grace of God. The next Sabbath, almost the whole city came to hear the Word of God from Paul and Barnabas, but the religious Jews spoke against Paul. The Bible says that Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and they told the Jews that the Gospel would now go to the Gentiles because of their unbelief. When the Gentiles heard this message, they rejoiced, glorified the Word of the Lord, and believed. The Jews stirred up an insurgency and started to persecute Paul and Barnabas, and the Jews expelled the men of God from their coasts. Paul and Barnabas' response was to shake off the dust from their feet. The same thing happened to them in Iconium (Acts 13:14–Acts 14:6). After that, they fled to the cities of Lycaonia. In the city of Lystra, Paul healed a man who could not walk. After this miracle, the people of the city cried out, "The gods are come down to us in the likeness of men" (Acts 14:11). The people said that Barnabas was Jupiter and Paul was Mercury because he was the chief speaker. When Barnabas and Paul understood what was happening, they rent their clothes and begged the people to stop. They explained to the people that they were men just like them, and Barnabas and Paul told them that they should turn from that empty worship to the one True God (Acts ... • 138. How Did Zeus Influence Roman People Although not always mentioned in the Bible, Roman gods impacted the lives of people in the Bible times a lot. One of the more significant Roman gods, Zeus, was highly respected for his power and authority. In the book of Acts, two disciples, Paul and Barnabas, healed a crippled man while traveling through a town called Lystra. The crowd praised them and said, "These men are gods in human form!" They called the Barnabas, the man traveling with Paul, Zeus. Zeus was a well honored and powerful god at the time, so it was thought that only a god like Zeus could do something so miraculous. While Zeus filled the spirit of some people at that time, the true God was in complete control despite what of the people at Lystra thought. Although Zeus is not ... In the book of Acts as Paul continues on his first missionary journey with Barnabas, they make their way into the city of Lystra where Paul was being called to. In Lystra a lame man was there who was never able to walk! In Acts 14 it states that the man had great enough faith to be healed. Since Paul saw that he had great faith he said to the man, "Stand up on your feet!" Then man began to walk! The people at Lystra said, "The gods have come down to us in human form!" Based off all the myths about Roman gods and interactions with human beings, it was highly believable to people in that time that such a god would be able to heal a lame man's hand in Lystra! Back in the day people believed Roman gods were working behind the scenes to make nature work the way it does. For most people they did not incorporate Roman gods into their religion or belief, just as a way to interpret and explain how stuff was happening around them. However, according to Mythology: Timeless Tales of Gods and Heroes, Zeus, the Father god, played part in people's religion. People depended on him for stuff, such as rain, so they began to worship him in order to please him (Hamilton). Since there was a temple outside of the city of Lystra they began to offer bulls and wreaths to him because they thought Zeus was the one to do such a miracle. The City Of Secavation: Alexander The Great Cities The city of Antioch was founded around the end of the 4th century BC by one of Alexander the Great's generals, in the southern part of where we now have modern day Turkey. It began to decline during the Middle Ages due to war, earthquakes, and changes in trade routes. He also thought closing down the clinics would give a great boost to the financial condition of Blake Memorial leading to provide better quality of care for the patients. Nations, schools, churches, families, and individuals all must handle conflict from time to time. So, with all this conflict, how are we supposed to know the correct way to handle it all? Scripture is full of various kinds of conflict. Within the Bible, examples of how to and how not to manage every kind of conflict lines the pages. Scripture provides the ultimate basis for God's plan to resolve conflict. An Example of Cessation of Proximity In Acts 15:36–41, an interesting conflict sparks between two of the greatest missionaries in the New Testament. Paul and Barnabas had traveled together on Paul's first recorded missionary journey. If the results written in Acts 13:4–12 are any indication, the two men appear to have made quite the team. What could have caused a conflict so great that the only way to resolve it would be separation? Also going along on Paul's first missionary was Barnabas' cousin John Mark.
