How did you use media technologies
in the construction and research,
planning and evaluation stages?

2. PowerPoint
• I used it in the Research and Planning stage. This is because it
allowed me display my work clearly and in an organised
manner, and I was able to present different aspects of, for
example; planning, by dividing my ideas into categories like
costume and props.
• PowerPoint also allowed me improve my skills by presenting
my work with text fonts and sizes that make them
presentable. It allowed me to display my work using bullet
points and photos/ screenshots that back up my main ideas,
while presenting them clearly.

3. Final Cut Pro
• I used it in the Construction stage, as it was the main
technology used in editing my trailer.
• As it allows you it edit very closely (by millisecond) it enabled
me to be more precise with my editing. Unlike iMovie (which
I used last year). So Final Cut Pro was effective for
construction.
• Final Cut Pro has a larger variety of titles, fonts, transitions
e.t.c, (compared to iMovie) which was beneficial in the
construction. This allowed me to find the most appropriate
features to make my trailer most effective.
• It was beneficial as I was able to upload all my footage and
then edit it in a professional manner.

4. Photoshop
• I used it in constructing both my ancillary tasks (poster and
magazine cover), as well as the first drafts.
• It has various tools so that I can alter the image, the text
etc. in order for me to achieve a certain effect and create a
certain meaning.
• Similarly I was able to change the colour of the background
and add features such as the twitter and Facebook logo (on
my poster).
• This all contributing to helping me make my ancillary tasks
look professional.

5. Blogger
• I used Blogger for my research and planning in order to
present all my work in one place, and to keep it organised.
• Also it allowed me to reflect back on my work to see my
journey throughout, as I could look back research I found
inspirational and could use in my own products.
• Blogger was also used in the construction stage as I
uploaded my main completed products on there. These
include my trailer and both ancillary tasks (poster and
magazine cover).
• I used it the evaluation stage to present my final products
in an organised and clear way.

6. IMDb
• I used it in my research stage as I was able to find
information on films when looking at trailer research
within my subgenre, and finding reviews and ratings of
films.
• It also helped me find inspirational films that had
conventional techniques of my subgenre.

7. SlideShare
• I used it in my research and planning as it was where I
uploaded my PowerPoints. Simultaneously, it was
beneficial in keeping all my PowerPoints in one place
and organising them.
• Also I used it to find inspiration of how other research
and planning was carried out.
• It was used for my evaluation question 4 as it was easy
and clear to present each technology on a different
slide, using bullet points.

8. YouTube
• I used YouTube in my research and planning, in order
to find inspirational trailers so I could see how
conventions are used within my subgenre and across
other subgenres.
• I also used it for uploading both drafts of my trailer.

9. Google
• I used Google to for the research stage, as I researched
to find out the conventions of my subgenre, so that I
knew what was expected of it from my audience.
• It also allowed me obtain inspiration from other media
products so that I could adopt some ideas while
creating something of my own.

10. Powtoon
• I used Powtoon to present one of my evaluation
questions. It is a similar application to
PowerPoint but has different titles and
backgrounds and different shapes to present
work differently. I was also able to use music
over the video to make it more interesting. I
found it effective in displaying my work neatly
and clearly.

11. Prezi
• I used Prezi for one of my evaluation questions. It is a
similar application to PowerPoint but can present
your work in a sort of mind map and then zooms into
each area. It was effective in presenting my work
clearly and in an organised format.
