Evaluation Question 4
2. Research-YouTube
YouTube was a really helpful platform for me as it allowed me to research and watch
other film trailers within the same genre as mine. It allowed me to watch trailers
and embed them on my blog making it easier to analyse them, it also gave me
inspiration for my teaser trailer as I was able to get an insight of the codes and
conventions that my genre uses.
I also used YouTube to share my final teaser trailer which made it easier to embed
into my blog, YouTube also has a public feedback system where viewers can like or
dislike and then further comment what they think needs improving.
3. Research-IMDb
I used IMDb (internet movie database) it has many
films of my genre (Romance-Drama) and includes
things such as actors, setting, rating and plot. This
was useful as it allowed me to research into the plot
of other romance-dramas where I was also able to
view the trailer.
4. Planning-Blogger www.blogspot.co.uk
I created a blog like I did for AS using blogger. It was a very useful platform because it
allowed me to post my research, planning, production and evaluation, it helped bring all
my work together creating a sort of portfolio.
I have organised each post date by date so I can refer back to them when creating my
product and find them easily.
Blogger allows me to create as many posts as I want, and insert video clips, hyperlinks,
text and images, so that I can easily keep all of my resources and ideas together.
By having everything together it helped for others to see the processes I went through to
create my final products.
I have used a side bar to make it easier to navigate my blog.
5. Planning-Slideshare
Slideshare is a website that allows you to upload and share your
Powerpoints and then embed it onto your blog.
I used this platform to present my presentations on my blog and other
work that I had analysed. It is a very professional way of presenting
work as I was able to embed it onto my blog for viewers to see.
I have also used slideshare to present questions for my evaluation.
6. Planning-Survey Monkey
Survey Monkey was a great use for me as it allowed
me to create online surveys quickly and enabled me
embed the survey onto my blog.
I used survey monkey within planning as I asked
people for advice and feedback through my surveys.
It was a quick and easy way of collecting data as I
could just email people during school time to quickly
fill out my survey.
7. Planning-Scribd
Scribd was useful for presenting work in a different
way, it is quite similar to Issuu. It was easy to use
and I could embed it on my blog for viewers to see.
I used this for analysing a film magazine front cover.
8. Planning-Powtoon
Powtoon was something I discovered earlier on in the
year. It is a fun yet professional way to present work.
I used this to present my pitch at the start of the year and
it includes animations and sound.
It is quite hard to use but once I got to grips with it, it
was easier, It allowed me to embed the whole thing on m
blog too.
9. Construction- Lumix G2 HD camera
I used this HD camera for the filming of my teaser trailer and for the photo
shoots for my ancillary tasks. It has a good zoom and high quality image and
focus, this allowed me to film my scenes to a high standard.
The camera was pretty simple to use and was easy to take around with me.
There were a few issues: the first one was that the camera deleted a few seconds
off the end of every scene that I filmed but I overcame that by leaving the scene
to run longer than intended.
Secondly, I found that the quality of sound was not as good and picked up
background noise such as wind, it didn’t effect me too much though because I
took the sound out when I came to edit the scene.
10. Construction- Adobe Photoshop
I have experience with this programme from many years, last
year for media studies and years before for GCSE ICT.
Because I knew how to use the programme I was able to use all
the tools correctly helping me to design high quality products.
I used this programme for the editing of my magazine and
poster, for example removing blemishes and adding filters.
It allowed me to layer images on top of each other to create a
high quality product.
11. Construction- Adobe Fireworks
Similar to Photoshop I have had experience with
Fireworks, I would say that I am more familiar with
Fireworks. I know how to use all the tools to create high
quality products, I would say it’s easier to use than
Photoshop.
I used Fireworks to construct my print media products
and to create a production company logo and
backgrounds for my trailer and other products too.
12. Construction-Iphoto
I used Iphoto last year for my magazine double page
spread so I have had some brief experience with
Iphoto.
I used Iphoto to make it easier to upload still images
to my teaser trailer on Imovie as they are compatible
with each other, for example backgrounds and my
title.
13. Construction-Imovie
I used Imovie use to construct my teaser trailer it wasn’t the most reliable
programme but I had good access to it.
I had brief knowledge of the programme so I knew how to work around it,
when I got the hang of it, it was easier to use, I used some tutorials to help
me certain editing.
It allowed me to upload film clips, and edit them by changing the lengths of
the clips, increasing the speed of the clips, changing the contrast or colours
of the clips and inserting editing techniques such as dissolves and fades.
I had a few issues with Imovie as it crashed on me several times which then
resulted in reconstructing my trailer again, but I overcame this problem by
using a different Imovie on a different Mac.
14. Evaluation-Prezi
I have good knowledge of Prezi and I have used it quite
frequently throughout my project to present various work as it
is very easy to use.
I think Prezi is a great way to present presentations
professionally and creatively, it even allows you to upload
videos and music to certain steps and it an easy way to share
on my blog for others to view.
I have used Prezi for one of my evaluation questions and
many other things throughout my project.
15. Evaluation-Social Networking
I have used Social networking to ask my peers for audience feedback
on my trailer and ancillary tasks. I have used platforms like
Facebook, Google plus, YouTube and Instagram. I mailed people to
get quick responses and a range of different people to get feedback.
For the poster and magazine I asked them to comment on what they
liked about the products.
For my teaser trailer feedback I asked more structured questions
that I could get the feedback that would be most useful to use.
I have also used these platforms for my evaluation question about
audience feedback.
16. Evaluation-Issuu
Issuu is a new platform that i’ve started to use this
year it enabled me to use different media platforms.
It allowed me to share word and publisher
documents and upload them online in a book form
which I then later embedded on my blog, its quick
and easy to use and a creative way for presenting
work.
I have used this in my evaluation.
