Joint venture on the other hand is when two or more companies come together and use their resources for a single
activity that is not related to the companies that are in the joint venture. Last but not least, a wholly owned
subsidiaries is one in which the parent company owns 100% of the subsidiary's stock.

Localization, on the other hand is a strategy that is focused on increasing profitability by customizing the company's
goods or services so that the goods provide a favorable match to tastes and preferences in different national markets.
Moving on transnational strategy, which is a business model that simultaneously achieves low cost, differentiates the
product offering across geographic markets, and fosters a flow of skills between different subsidiaries in the

Agudo says the recent announcement of Ford Group Philippines to stop manufacturing operations in the country
should serve as a challenge to both the government and the automotive industry to review current policies, strategies

engines which affected its most popular models due to problems to design and manufacturing issues.
For instance, in 2013 June, the company was forced to recall its Azera cars that had been manufactured in 2012 due
to occupant detection system problems. This system was unable to detect whether the front passenger seat was
occupied by an adult or a child, hence creating high risk of injury.
In the same respect, the company recalled 1,059,824 vehicles and SUVs in 2013 and this mainly affected its models
that had been released between 2007 and 2011 due to repair problems that raised the risk of crashing. The company
also recalled 186,254 Elantra vehicles manufactured between 2011 and 2013 within the same year.
Moreover, following the findings of a research conducted by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Hyundai

Warrenties in Article Kia Offers Hyundai´s Warrenty...
From the Los Angeles Times, the following article focuses on a relevant topic from Chapter twelve in the textbook,
Warranties. The article titled, "Kia Offers Hyundai's Warranty Coverage (O'Dell, 2000), are relevant topic of
Warranty. The article's main subject is focusing on both car dealers, Kia and Hyundai, where Kia Motors America
launched the longest warranty in the auto industry, which is identical to Hyundai Motor Americas 10–year, 100,000–
mile coverage warranty. Such a long warranty provides assurance of potential clients that are thinking about buying a
Kia, that the quality of a Kia car is not only new and improved but this warranty signifies that they are more than
confident that their vehicle is worth such a long warranty with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
346) Such an explanation from the textbook when applied to the article is very helpful in understanding that Kia is
putting their confidence and character as a company into the warranty, and any customer dissatisfaction of the
product not only hurts the reputation of Kia but it breaches an understanding of the warranty and thus puts the control
in the customer's hands for the term of that warranty.
Ultimately, in my opinion relative to the article and the topic of warranty in general discussed in Chapter Twelve,
brings to light how a warranty not only is a contract and a written agreement between the buyer and the seller, but it
is an agreement of having a good title, reputation and a business etiquette that the seller is promising to the buyer.
This article also brings to light how the concept of warranty is not only putting the company's reputation on the line,
it is promising certain performances that if not lived up to would be a breaching of the warranty and thus a breaking
of the trust and reputation of the company between seller and buyer. As described in Chapter Twelve of the textbook,
a good title warranty seems to be what Kia is trying to establish for its customers, which in my humble opinion is
genius to copy Hyundai knowing that their sales soared after initiating an identical warranty.
This type of warranty although puts the control in the hands of the consumer for the length of the

vehicles in 1958. In the first year, Toyota sold 287 Toyopet Crown sedans and one Land Cruiser. Within the first 10
years of business the company began to develop a reputation in the United States for having high quality vehicles that

In 1996, Toyota engineers discovered an issue with the Hilux Surf, a sport utility vehicle (SUV) that was sold in
England. Toyota sold this same SUV in the United States, but it was called the 4Runner. The engineers were
concerned because with a combination of heavy loading and severe steering maneuvers, the SUVs could lose
directional stability. This resulted in the possible consequence of drivers losing control of the vehicle and increasing
the risk of a crash. Toyota did make a design change to correct the steering mechanism, but instead of issuing a recall
on the existing Hilux Surfs and 4Runners that were already on the road, Toyota simply installed the design change on
the new models. Eight years later, there was an accident that involved an out of control Hilux Surf that prompted a
police investigation. The Japanese government heavily criticized Toyota and ordered them to overhaul its recall
system. Since 2007, Toyota has received major criticism regarding the safety and quality of their vehicles. The
company has faced many issues in a short period of time. Following is a brief timeline that highlights the major
events that took place: 2007 March 2007 Toyota receives reports about an accelerator pedal glitch in its Tundra

Green Supply Chain Management
In Efficient Business Practices
The automotive industry changed the way that Americans purchased products when cars became an affordable luxury
in the early 19th century. Not only did cars drastically reduce travel in daily life, they provided a gateway of
possibilities for expanding business beyond carriage or foot travel. Due to the mass production assembly line strategy
implemented by Henry Ford, cars could be produced quickly and efficiently. This dramatic shift in production
dropped prices to the affordable level for the average American, which led to the establishment of buying on credit.
The automotive industry provides economic growth and convenience in America and throughout the world – but this
amenity comes at a great price to the environment. Throughout the entire life cycle of an automobile, carbon
emissions and waste are produced. Although most believe that automobiles creates only carbon emissions when in
use, the process begins negatively contributing to the environment long before and long after the life of the car.
Additionally, the understanding and research related to carbon emissions from the use of gasoline–powered cars has
provided consumers with an awareness of their effect on the environment. For some, this realization has prompted
conservatory measures in vehicle use, utilizing public

Swot Analysis Of Hijing Hyundai
Building Distribution Channels One of the most important challenges for Beijing Hyundai was to develop
distribution channels, and to decide where channels should be expanded geographically. Beijing Hyundai decided to
adopt the 4S Shop model, but had to decide where the company should locate the shops. The company classified the
China market into seven regions, north, south, east, northeast, central, southwest, and northwest. These seven regions
were then regrouped into two major categories, an "all cities expansion group" (north, south, and east) and a "core

channel expansion strategy, following a hub and spoke pattern, for each of the two groups of regions. With the hub

Ford Mustang And The Chevrolet Camaro
GM and Ford team up again, but there are other partnerships between automotive rivals to consider.
Who would have thunk it?! For 2017, the Ford Mustang and the Chevrolet Camaro will share a 10–speed automatic
transmission as a result of a collaborative engineering effort between General Motors and the Ford Motor Company.
How's that again?
In 2013, Detroit's top rivals signed an agreement to jointly develop new 9– and 10–speed automatic transmissions
with front– and rear–wheel drive variants. The collaborative effort means both companies are able to design,
engineer, establish, test, corroborate and distribute new transmissions at a faster rate and for a lower cost than they
would have on their own.
Improved Performance, Better Efficiency
The effort has yielded a new 10–speed automatic transmission, one that will find its way into various models over the
next few years. That the two competing pony cars will share the same transmission means one less important edge for
both manufacturers. Instead, the two companies will have to find other ways to beat each other with such factors as
horsepower, steering and handling, and aerodynamics providing key differences.
At the same time, buyers of both models will enjoy two important benefits 10–speed transmissions provide – better
off–the–line acceleration with a shorter first gear and improved fuel economy with the taller top gears. (Jim, see the
Popular Mechanics explanation) Incidentally, the 10–speed will be the first we've

Hyundai Market Strategy
Introduction Hyundai automotive distributors were established in 1967. The company has displayed a high level of
commitment to southern Africa's future from both an economic and political point of view. There are many different
types of market entry strategies that may be implemented by a foreign firm in an emerging country. Amongst the
most popular are: 1. Portfolio Investment; 2. Export 3. Franchising 4. Licensing 5. Shared Equity/ Joint Venture The
initial market entry strategy implemented by Hyundai Korea was a joint–venture. However, after liquidation (1999),
the new entry strategy for re–establishment was franchising. The aim of this paper is to show how Hyundai can

For example, a joint venture can have a limited life span and only cover part of what you do, thus limiting both your
commitment and the business' exposure. In the era of diversification and consolidation, JV's offer a creative way for
companies to exit from non–core businesses. Companies can gradually separate a business from the rest of the
organisation, and eventually, sell it to the other parent company. Roughly 80% of all joint ventures end in a sale by
one partner to the other. The Disadvantages of Joint Ventures It takes time and effort to build the right relationship
and partnering with another business can be challenging. Problems are likely to arise if: The objectives of the venture
are not 100 per cent clear and communicated to everyone involved. There is an imbalance in levels of expertise,
investment or assets brought into the venture by the different partners. Different cultures and management styles
result in poor integration and co–operation. The partners don't provide enough leadership and support in the early
stages. Success in a joint venture depends on thorough research and analysis of the objectives. From the above
discussion as well as the list of advantages and disadvantages associated with joint ventures it can be seen that

Mncs in India
MNCs in India By A V Vedpuriswar[1] Introduction With a GDP growth of almost 7 percent1, India is one of the
most promising and fastest–growing economies in the world. But despite the huge potential of the country, the
performance of Multinational Corporations (MNCs) in India has been decidedly mixed. Many MNCs which have
succeeded remarkably elsewhere in the world have yet to make a significant impact in India. The market entry and
penetration strategies that have worked so well for these companies in other countries have been for less successful in
India. Many MNCs have struggled to understand Indian customers and come up with suitable products and services.
At the same time, some MNCs have done pretty well for themselves. Why have ... Show more content on

For example, MNCs which entered India since the 1990s have in general been more aggressive and proactive in a
liberalised business environment, than those which began operations during the license Raj. Hyundai, Samsung and
LG are good examples. The older MNCs like Bata have also been handicapped by the baggage accumulated over a
period of time. Such companies are often at a disadvantage due to their bloated manpower and inefficient
manufacturing facilities. Of the 50–plus[2] MNCs with a significant presence in India, the nine market leaders,
including British American Tobacco (BAT), Hyundai Motor, Suzuki Motor, and Unilever, have an average return on
capital employed of around 48 percent. Even the next 26 have an average ROCE of 36 percent. The most successful
MNCs in India have some common characteristics. Resisting the instinct to transplant to India the best practices of
other countries, they have treated the country as a strategic market. These companies have also taken a long term
view. They have invested time and resources to understand local consumers and business conditions. They have
understood that the price points that matter in India are different from those in other countries. In a country where the
middle and lower–end segments are critically important, affordability is a crucial factor. At the same time, some of
the successful MNCs have also realised that price is not the only factor driving

A Rhetorical Analysis Of Kevin Hart's First Date
As the people are watching the television, millions of dollars are used in the commercials. All commercials include
big companies like Bud Light, M&Ms, and Doritos. These advertisers spend significant amounts of money, so that
consumers will be able to buy their products. One of the commercial that stands out to the me is the Hyundai Genesis
with Kevin Hart entitled "First Date. The makers of the commercial use a variety of techniques to persuade people to
buy a Hyundai Genesis because of a special feature that other cars don't have. By persuading people, the author has a
purpose, audience to make this commerical. Also they use rational appeals such as ethos, pathos and logo.

One mile radius does not help anybody that is lost or the car breaks down. This would mean that parents have to be
near their children's car to figure out the location of the car. Also, another argument that a consumer could bring up is
that parents do not have Smartphones or Smart watches to use as a device in order to use the special feature of the
Hyundai Genesis. Even though they are special features in this car, the commercial does not tell consumers if they are
provided with a Smartphone or SmartWatch.
Overall, this commercial might give fathers ideas on what car is the right one for their child. Logos, ethos and pathos
can be found in this Super Bowl commercial. Logos and ethos were used to mislead parents to buy the car in the
future or in the present.Pathos was used transform feelings to the audience. Also, it would be controversial to say to

All Wheel Drive And Luxury Sedan
All–wheel drive and luxury to go with it.
The Genesis G80 is a midsize luxury sedan, designed to take on such models as the Audi A6, BMW 5 Series,
Cadillac CTS, Mercedes–Benz E–Class, and the Lexus GS. Up until last year, we knew this vehicle as the Hyundai
Genesis, but as of 2017, Genesis is now its own brand.
Thus, last year's Hyundai Genesis is now this year's Genesis G80, while the Hyundai Equus was replaced by an all–
new G90 model. Consider the G80 as a refresh of the previous Genesis sedan model, adding more standard
equipment as befits a luxury marque.
The 2017 Genesis G80 is offered in seven model or package choices: Standard 3.8 RWD ($41,400), Standard 3.8

The G80 is nearly identical to the previous Genesis, but with no signs of "H" or Hyundai badging. The winged
Genesis logo is in place, underscoring what the new brand is all about.
What is familiar about the G80 is everything else from its long, elegant visage to its hexagonal grille with six
horizontal bars. Wrap–around headlamps, LED accent lights, and LED fog lamps complete this sedan's frontal
presentation.
From the sides, Genesis opted for a more conservative approach, eschewing the dramatic lines and body sculpting
found in such Hyundai models as the Sonata. That said, a distinctive character line at the door handle level adds
interest along with rocker panel trim, and creased wheel wells. Furthermore, standard 18–inch alloy wheels add flair
and distinction to this midsize luxury sedan.
From the rear, you'll find a trunk lip spoiler. Large wraparound combination lights, reflectors and dual exhaust ports
are also present.
Quiet, Luxurious Cabin
I enjoy luxury cars in this class for a number of reasons. That they actually seat five people without compromise is
one of those reasons.
Sporty, firm bucket seats are up front, offering generous shoulder and hip bolstering. The split 60–40 fold–down rear
bench seat includes a fold–0down center compartment with storage and two cup holders. As much as I like the third

The two companies plan to form a joint venture to develop small cars for the global market. It initially began
manufacturing cars and light trucks through a joint venture with Ford. However, by the early 1970s Hyundai was
ready to build cars under its own name by debuting its subcompact Pony in 1974. The Pony was a great success
domestically and soon propelled Hyundai to the top spot among Korea's carmakers. During the mid–1970s, the
company began exporting the Pony to El Salvador and Guatemala. Several years later, Hyundai started to mass

introduced the Hyundai Excel in 1985. That very year the company established a subsidiary in the United States, the
Hyundai Motor America. Hyundai exported Excels to the US and sales soared the next year. Building on this success,
it built a factory in Quebec, Canada. The company introduced its first sports car, the Scoupe, in 1990. The following
year it developed the first Hyundai–designed engine, called the Alpha. Two years later Hyundai unveiled its second–

exports. Hyundai not only established a joint venture with DaimlerChrysler but went on to establish a collaboration

No Range Of The Third Era Tucson Hybrid Utility Vehicle
No range of the third–era Tucson hybrid utility vehicle was left untouched by Hyundai engineers, yet specific
consideration was set on re–designing the undercarriage for enhanced ride and taking care of, and essentially, better
NVH (clamor, vibration, and brutality) attributes.
As anyone might expect, the 2016 Tucson stage is bigger than the past generation 's; notwithstanding, builds centered
around enhancing width and wheelbase for more noteworthy ride solace and straight strength, as per Mike O 'Brien,
Vice President, Corporate and Product Planning, Hyundai Motor America (HMA).
"We have a full lineup of CUVs, so having the greatest one in the portion is not the best since individuals that up
front investment this range of the business sector concentrate more on mobility and stopping," O 'Brien said. "So all
things being equal we centered around getting the best width that we could, at 72.8 in, furthermore the best
wheelbase at 105.1 in, which gives a feeling of strength."
Contrasted with the 2015 model, the new Tucson is 1.1 in (27.9 mm) more extensive, with a 1.2–in (30.5–mm)
increment in wheelbase. The front and back shades were expanded "in littler extent," focusing a greater amount of the
Tucson 's mass inside the wheelbase for better taking care of reaction and control. The CUV is 3 in (76 mm) longer
by and large than the active model, at 176.2 in (4475 mm).

In 1905, Mr. H Piper filed a patent for a gasoline engine–electric motor powertrain. According to him, the electric
motor would augment a gasoline engine, allowing a vehicle to accelerate from zero to 25 miles an hour in 10
seconds, much faster than the gasoline engines of that time. Ironically, when finally Mr.H Piper was granted the
patent a few years later, normal engines were capable of producing the same kind of acceleration.
Due to rapid advancements in the gasoline engine, the popularity of a hybrid car slowly diminished untill again in the
early to mid 1970s, the time of oil crisis. Many companies poured funds to build experimental Hybrid Electric
Vehicles. But as the oil became available again, the surge for HEVs died down immediately.
The Europeans and Japanese researching on reducing production costs and making HEVs more salable. Companies
like Toyota, Honda, Volkswagen, Mitsubishi came up with ways to reduce emissions and better the mileage.
Toyota introduced the Prius in 1997 (in Japan and in 2000 in the US) which proved to be a huge success. Recent sales
figures indicate that well over 300,000 units of Toyota Prius have been sold the world over justifying the concept of a
clean family car.
In 1999, Honda introduced its first production hybrid car, the Insight and then the Civic Hybrid in 2002.
Ford came up with the first hybrid SUV, the Escape, which hit the road in 2004. Quick on their path are

Summary: Is It Legal To Tint Car Windows
Is It Legal to Tint Car Windows in Florida?
Yes, it is, within certain guidelines. In 1991, the Florida State Legislature enacted regulations concerning darkening
your vehicle's windows or applying reflective tint. VLT stands for "Visible Light Transmission," and it is measured as
a percentage of visible light allowed through your car windows. The regulations are quite specific and vary slightly
for vans and SUVs as compared to cars. The rules are also different depending upon where in your vehicle the glass
is found, generally much stricter at the front of the car and less so at the rear.
For automobile windshields, non–reflective tint is allowed above the manufacturer's AS–1 line. That line varies by
vehicle, but it is usually found about

Rio Research Papers
Fourth–generation Kia Rio rolls out.
Demand for small cars is down, but don't tell that to Kia Motors. The Korean automaker is well entrenched in the
segment, offering both the subcompact Rio and the compact Forte.
The Kia Rio rolled out in 2001 and we've seen it grow since, although it remains Kia's smallest and least expensive
model, slotting beneath the Forte. Kia has always offered a Rio sedan; early on you could also choose a small wagon,
but that body style was soon replaced by a five–door hatchback.

Even then, tall passengers may find rear legroom wanting.
After spending many hours behind the wheel of the Rio, I can say that seat comfort is adequate at best. Happily, I
avoided the back pain similar cars have given me, so there is that attribute. Kudos to Kia for supplying the Rio sedan
with such a large trunk – 13.7 cubic feet, although I think the utility of the hatchback would suit most people.
You'll find soft–touch materials, plastic surfaces and brightwork trim throughout the Rio's cabin. Texturized surfaces
provide a pleasing appearance – I like what automakers such as Kia have done to give extra attention to their smallest
models. Low cost shouldn't mean cheap.
Standard equipment includes cloth seats; a red accent leather package option is on the EX grade. The top trim also
has a leather–wrapped steering wheel and shift knob. All models have air conditioning and locking doors. Power
windows, cruise control, and a center console with a sliding armrest and storage area are in the S and EX models.
Safety Highlights
If there is an inherent weakness with the Kia Rio, it has been the compact's safety scores. The previous generation
model received top scores from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) in three categories: moderate
overlap front, roof strength, and head restraints & seats. In side testing, the Rio picked up an acceptable score; in
small overlap front testing the score was marginal.

Despite the fact that there are many tests today that are faster and cheaper that do not require the use of animals, there

their environments are all interconnected. The worldwide web is interdependent. If one species goes extinct, it will

An important issue regarding business ethics is the theory of moral hazard which occurs when a person or business
behaves differently when insulated from a certain risk. Moral hazard theory states that when a person or business is
insured against the consequences of a particular event, this increases incentive for the insured to behave in a way that
will cause the event (Glassman, 2009). The current government bailout of General Motors and Chrysler provides a
vivid demonstration of moral hazard. In order to prevent bankruptcy, the Canadian government bought stakes in both
companies totalling 14 billion dollars (Watson, 2009). Chrysler is now owned by Fiat while GM has appointed
several Canadian government officials as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The package also includes special license plates that allow Volt owners to drive in transit lanes. McGuinty claimed
that this package will encourage Canadians to buy "greener" vehicles. However, the Ford Fusion, Honda Insight and
Toyota Prius, none of which come with a subsidy package, are all more fuel efficient, and therefore "greener", than
the Volt (Morgan, 2009). There is no reason for GM to improve the Volt's design or fuel efficiency because the
stimulus package alone gives them a competitive advantage. This is a blatant attempt at policy–changing in order to
promote a company in which the government has stakes. A moral hazard exists in this case not only when these
companies are facing bankruptcy, but also for during product development and promotion.
Overall, the Canadian government's bailout of these automobile manufacturers was a mistake. Not only is it illogical
to financially reward a company that reacted poorly to economic uncertainty, it also creates an immense moral
hazard. Since the rescue package has done very little to protect Canadian jobs and goes against public and expert
opinions, it only seems to be benefitting the executives that created a need for the bailout in the first place. As a
result, automobile manufacturers as well as other corporations will begin to believe that no matter how many bad

Pathos, Pros, And Cons And Uses Of The Hyundai Commercials
One product most people use in their everyday lives are vehicles. I have chosen two commercials, one advertising the
Honda Ridgeline and the other marketing the Hyundai Elantra. In the Honda commercial, a farmer tends to his sheep,
that start singing as soon as the farmer drives away. The Hyundai commercial is very comical, showing a town where
everyone is Ryan Reynolds to catch your attention. These commercials use pathos, ethos, and logos to sell their
product. Advertisements use many forms of persuasion to get people to buy their product. One of these is pathos,
which appeals to the emotions of the audience and evokes their feelings. In the Honda commercial, one can see sheep
in the pasture singing to "Somebody to Love" after the farmer drives off in his new Honda Ridgeline. This is very
humorous, considering sheep do not speak, let alone belt out notes from Queen. Not only are there singing sheep, but
there is a talking dog towards the end of the commercial which tells those who are watching about the Honda
Ridgeline ("Honda Ridgeline Super Bowl Commercial" internet). This is similar to the Hyundai commercial, which is
also very amusing. The audience can see two women driving through a neighborhood, where every person is Ryan
Reynolds. This shows pathos, because it appeals to the viewers emotions by laughing at the comical commercial
("Ryanville– Hyundai Super Bowl" internet). Another form of persuasion commercials use is ethos, which appeals to
one's ethics. In the

Case Study: An Overview Of The Hyundai Motor Company
INTRODUCTION: Chung Ju–yung founded Hyundai Motors in 1967. The main headquarters of this company is
based in South Korea. The main area it specializes is automobile industry. They first started with assembling cars and
trucks for Ford. The first car they launched was Hyundai Cortina in 1975, which was in tie–up with Ford Company.
Just in 2 years period of time they were the 13th largest in the world with the share of 2% in the global retail market.
History– In just less than 50 years they became the 5th largest automaker in the world, with the sale of 4.05million
cars in year 2011. By realizing that world–class experts can lead the company to earn huge profits, Chung (the

Since the first possession structure was totally limited by Ju–Young Chung and his beneficiaries, the administration
and responsibility for Motor Company totally cover. It's arranged objective and choice making procedures were
vanquished by the Chung family's unified predominance and emperorship. Notwithstanding, such a patriarchal
ownership and administration structure permitted Hyundai Motor Company to seek after more autonomy over its
outside connections. Like when Hyundai Motor Company went into a key relationship with Ford, Ju–Young Chung
declined to move his choice making power to Ford. Hyundai Motor Company picked Mitsubishi in 1972, as opposed
to an individual from the America Big–3 or Toyota as its joint endeavor accomplice in light of the fact that this made
it simpler for Hyundai Motor Company to secured vital autonomy over its own innovative and business sector
improvement. What's more, the full monetary and work force support from Hyundai Motor Company Mother
Company the Hyundai Engineering and Construction Company, which was additionally claimed and oversaw by the
Ju–Young Chung, gave him influence to direct Hyundai Motor Company his

Last but not least, a wholly owned subsidiaries is one in which the parent company owns 100% of the subsidiary's stock. There are four international competitive strategies that include: global standardization, localization, transnational, and international. Global standardization is a business model based on pursuing a low–cost strategy on a global scale. Localization, on the other hand is a strategy that is focused on increasing profitability by customizing the company's goods or services so that the goods provide a favorable match to tastes and preferences in different national markets. Moving on transnational strategy, which is a business model that simultaneously achieves low cost, differentiates the product offering across geographic markets, and fosters a flow of skills between different subsidiaries in the company's global network operations. Maria Fe Perez [pic] Maria Fe Perez–Agudo A product of an all–girls Catholic school in Manila, believes in the capability of women to climb the corporate ladder even in industries known to be men's turf. Her own ascent to the top position at the fastest–growing car distributor in the Philippines changed the face of the once male–dominated automotive industry. "I believe in the power of the feminine genius," the amiable Agudo says, as she encourages women to explore more avenues. "Unleash and maximize that inner power. Choose to seek opportunities, add value, deliver results, and most importantly, love what you're doing," she says. Agudo speaks from experience. "Hari wants Filipinos to experience Hyundai not just as a car but a space where customers experience life's most brilliant moments," she says. Other members of Avid include The Covenant Car Co., Motor Image Pilipinas, Cats Motors, PGA Cars, Scandinavian Motors and British United Automobiles. Avid saw its sales rise 4 percent to 24,880 units in 2011 and expects a double–digit growth this year, on improved supply condition and stable economy. This would allow the group to increase their combined market share to 20 percent from 15 percent in 2011, cutting into the share of rival group Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc. Agudo says the recent announcement of Ford Group Philippines to stop manufacturing operations in the country should serve as a challenge to both the government and the automotive industry to review current policies, strategies and directions. "This is an opportunity to seek the best program to advance the growth and development of the Philippine automotive industry, in the interest of boosting the country's overall economy. We are happy that Ford Philippines will continue to do business here as a distributor," she says. Good corporate citizen Agudo says Hari nurtures a strong partnership with the government. The article titled, "Kia Offers Hyundai's Warranty Coverage (O'Dell, 2000), are relevant topic of Warranty. The article's main subject is focusing on both car dealers, Kia and Hyundai, where Kia Motors America launched the longest warranty in the auto industry, which is identical to Hyundai Motor Americas 10–year, 100,000– mile coverage warranty. Ultimately, in my opinion relative to the article and the topic of warranty in general discussed in Chapter Twelve, brings to light how a warranty not only is a contract and a written agreement between the buyer and the seller, but it is an agreement of having a good title, reputation and a business etiquette that the seller is promising to the buyer. This article also brings to light how the concept of warranty is not only putting the company's reputation on the line, it is promising certain performances that if not lived up to would be a breaching of the warranty and thus a breaking of the trust and reputation of the company between seller and buyer. As described in Chapter Twelve of the textbook, a good title warranty seems to be what Kia is trying to establish for its customers, which in my humble opinion is genius to copy Hyundai knowing that their sales soared after initiating an identical warranty. This resulted in the possible consequence of drivers losing control of the vehicle and increasing the risk of a crash. Not only did cars drastically reduce travel in daily life, they provided a gateway of possibilities for expanding business beyond carriage or foot travel. Due to the mass production assembly line strategy implemented by Henry Ford, cars could be produced quickly and efficiently. This dramatic shift in production dropped prices to the affordable level for the average American, which led to the establishment of buying on credit. The automotive industry provides economic growth and convenience in America and throughout the world – but this amenity comes at a great price to the environment. Throughout the entire life cycle of an automobile, carbon emissions and waste are produced. Although most believe that automobiles creates only carbon emissions when in use, the process begins negatively contributing to the environment long before and long after the life of the car. Additionally, the understanding and research related to carbon emissions from the use of gasoline–powered cars has provided consumers with an awareness of their effect on the environment. • 34. Swot Analysis Of Hijing Hyundai Building Distribution Channels One of the most important challenges for Beijing Hyundai was to develop distribution channels, and to decide where channels should be expanded geographically. Beijing Hyundai decided to adopt the 4S Shop model, but had to decide where the company should locate the shops. The company classified the China market into seven regions, north, south, east, northeast, central, southwest, and northwest. These seven regions were then regrouped into two major categories, an "all cities expansion group" (north, south, and east) and a "core cities expansion group" (northeast, central, southwest, and northwest). The company then established a sequential channel expansion strategy, following a hub and spoke pattern, for each of the two groups of regions. • 38. Ford Mustang And The Chevrolet Camaro GM and Ford team up again, but there are other partnerships between automotive rivals to consider. Who would have thunk it?! For 2017, the Ford Mustang and the Chevrolet Camaro will share a 10–speed automatic transmission as a result of a collaborative engineering effort between General Motors and the Ford Motor Company. How's that again? In 2013, Detroit's top rivals signed an agreement to jointly develop new 9– and 10–speed automatic transmissions with front– and rear–wheel drive variants. The collaborative effort means both companies are able to design, engineer, establish, test, corroborate and distribute new transmissions at a faster rate and for a lower cost than they would have on their own. Improved Performance, Better Efficiency The effort has yielded a new 10–speed automatic transmission, one that will find its way into various models over the next few years. That the two competing pony cars will share the same transmission means one less important edge for both manufacturers. Instead, the two companies will have to find other ways to beat each other with such factors as horsepower, steering and handling, and aerodynamics providing key differences. At the same time, buyers of both models will enjoy two important benefits 10–speed transmissions provide – better off–the–line acceleration with a shorter first gear and improved fuel economy with the taller top gears. Companies can gradually separate a business from the rest of the organisation, and eventually, sell it to the other parent company. Roughly 80% of all joint ventures end in a sale by one partner to the other. But despite the huge potential of the country, the performance of Multinational Corporations (MNCs) in India has been decidedly mixed. Many MNCs which have succeeded remarkably elsewhere in the world have yet to make a significant impact in India. Such companies are often at a disadvantage due to their bloated manpower and inefficient manufacturing facilities. Resisting the instinct to transplant to India the best practices of other countries, they have treated the country as a strategic market. These companies have also taken a long term view. They have invested time and resources to understand local consumers and business conditions. They have understood that the price points that matter in India are different from those in other countries. One of the commercial that stands out to the me is the Hyundai Genesis with Kevin Hart entitled "First Date. The Genesis G80 is a midsize luxury sedan, designed to take on such models as the Audi A6, BMW 5 Series, Cadillac CTS, Mercedes–Benz E–Class, and the Lexus GS. Up until last year, we knew this vehicle as the Hyundai Genesis, but as of 2017, Genesis is now its own brand. Thus, last year's Hyundai Genesis is now this year's Genesis G80, while the Hyundai Equus was replaced by an all– new G90 model. Wrap–around headlamps, LED accent lights, and LED fog lamps complete this sedan's frontal presentation. From the sides, Genesis opted for a more conservative approach, eschewing the dramatic lines and body sculpting found in such Hyundai models as the Sonata. Kudos to Kia for supplying the Rio sedan with such a large trunk – 13.7 cubic feet, although I think the utility of the hatchback would suit most people. You'll find soft–touch materials, plastic surfaces and brightwork trim throughout the Rio's cabin. Texturized surfaces provide a pleasing appearance – I like what automakers such as Kia have done to give extra attention to their smallest models. Low cost shouldn't mean cheap. • 74. Automobile Industry Auto Industry 2009 An important issue regarding business ethics is the theory of moral hazard which occurs when a person or business behaves differently when insulated from a certain risk. Moral hazard theory states that when a person or business is insured against the consequences of a particular event, this increases incentive for the insured to behave in a way that will cause the event (Glassman, 2009). The current government bailout of General Motors and Chrysler provides a vivid demonstration of moral hazard. However, the Ford Fusion, Honda Insight and Toyota Prius, none of which come with a subsidy package, are all more fuel efficient, and therefore "greener", than the Volt (Morgan, 2009). There is no reason for GM to improve the Volt's design or fuel efficiency because the stimulus package alone gives them a competitive advantage. This is a blatant attempt at policy–changing in order to promote a company in which the government has stakes. A moral hazard exists in this case not only when these companies are facing bankruptcy, but also for during product development and promotion. Overall, the Canadian government's bailout of these automobile manufacturers was a mistake. Not only is it illogical to financially reward a company that reacted poorly to economic uncertainty, it also creates an immense moral hazard. I have chosen two commercials, one advertising the Honda Ridgeline and the other marketing the Hyundai Elantra. In the Honda commercial, a farmer tends to his sheep, that start singing as soon as the farmer drives away. The Hyundai commercial is very comical, showing a town where everyone is Ryan Reynolds to catch your attention. These commercials use pathos, ethos, and logos to sell their product. Advertisements use many forms of persuasion to get people to buy their product. One of these is pathos, which appeals to the emotions of the audience and evokes their feelings. In the Honda commercial, one can see sheep in the pasture singing to "Somebody to Love" after the farmer drives off in his new Honda Ridgeline. This is very humorous, considering sheep do not speak, let alone belt out notes from Queen. Not only are there singing sheep, but there is a talking dog towards the end of the commercial which tells those who are watching about the Honda Ridgeline ("Honda Ridgeline Super Bowl Commercial" internet). This is similar to the Hyundai commercial, which is also very amusing. The audience can see two women driving through a neighborhood, where every person is Ryan Reynolds.
