localism
• Increasing concerns about the environment and
unsustainability.
• For example the BP Deep Water Horizon oil spill in 2010
leaked 4.9 million barrels of oil into the Gulf of Mexico.
• Huge environmental (600 turtles and 100 dolphins
died) and economic impact (shrimp, tuna and oyster
fisherman all suffered smaller catches)
• People boycotted BP following the disaster as a result.

• As a result people have been more and more aware of
what they buy and where it comes from and its impacts
