Key features essential in production,
distribution and promotion of short
film
Introduction
The main purpose of this presentation is to showcase features that will be essential in
the production, distribution and promotion of the short film I want to make.
In my pitch presentation I would like to create a :
• Target audience profile( Wants, needs and interests of an individual)
• Film Treatment( I will detail the plot, locations, characters, filming style and
taglines for the short film.)
• Endorsements( explain for which companies I would like to work with in order to
distribute and promote my short film.)

Film Treatment-Synopsis
• The plot begins as Two teenagers, a boy and a girl, train basketball at the same
club. As both of them feel that their potential basketball career is taking away their
private and social life, they make fake Instagram accounts in order to start flirting
online. After flirting for weeks, they organize a blind date for a Friday afternoon by
8 and agree to meet. However both the boy and the girl are a bit frightened as
they have very low self confidence. And since they have only been doing
basketball and school for the past years, they have completely forgotten how to
prepare for a date. As a result to solve this issue, they both start thinking if they
should go or send someone else instead of themselves. They start thinking, who
could be their own ideal replacement for this date. Both of them send their best
friends for this meeting. As the 2 friends get there and see each other, they realize,
that they are from the same school and that they actually know each other. They
go and enjoy themselves as it is a proper date, and realize that they were actually
meant to be for one another. In the end, they are the ones that get together, while
the main characters are still sitting home, backing out from the meeting they were
supposed to go to and waiting for information from their friends about what
happened.
Film Treatment
Camera styles:
I will use a number of different shots and camera angles to create a suspense, and
deliver the story. The use of styles such as Close ups will be used regularly through
different scenes in order to emphasize the importance of devices or actions as well as
displaying information. POV shots or point of view shots are going to be used
especially in scene 2 to make the audience more involved and interested in the action
taking part in the film. Another type I will like to use are extreme close up to
emphasize the importance of texts on devices. Through the use of narrative, I will
explain how the film will capture atmosphere.
Film Treatment
• The locations will be:
• school basketball gym
• Park
• Room:( male/female) Protagonist
Locations
Film Treatment
Characters will be:
Characters
The main Female
character will have a
strong personality age
15-18. She will have an
ordinary look as she
looks to be an innocent
girl.
The main Male character
shall poses a strong lead,
age 15-18.
Friend(female) : she
should be an
attractive young girl
hopefully age 15-17
who addresses a
sweet girl.
Friend(male): he
should be a positive
attitude guy, good
looking, a type who
would help out his
good friend.
Film Treatment
• The budget of most short films in productions are pretty low and
producers/directors rely on their creativity and inventions instead of expensive
equipment's such as tripods or expensive Cameras.
• My film budget will be based on the minimum. The characters that will be helping
me to produce the film are unprofessional(Friends) therefore do not have to paid
and do it for free. Through pre production I have no expenses and have locations
which are completely free and accessible.
The only expenses will be:
• Transportation(incase we need any)
• Editing software
Targeting the Audience
Target audience: After my survey at the beginning of the semester I have come to
know what interests my audience and where they watch short films. My target
audience is aged between 15-18 who have interest mostly in Dramas and sports. I
want to target my audience group in the following:
• Social Media( Instagram, Facebook, Twitter)
• Uploading the trailer of my short film on YouTube
• I will create a webpage that will host products and advertise my short film
• I will also use different original methods of distribution such as Posters, billboards,
magazines to raise awareness and promote my upcoming film and encourage
people to watch it.
Film Treatment
After long consideration I have decided to come up with a few taglines which
completely catch the interest of my audiences. In order to promote my film I will come
up with different taglines to successfully advertise it, for this I will create webpages,
posters to fully capture the attention audiences and to bring a new atmosphere to it.
Taglines
Failure is a part
of life, getting
back up is life
What goes
around
comes
around
You don’t
know what
you missed
until you face
it
Stay Strong,
be brave
Endorsements
• Exhibitor: To present my film to the public, I have chosen different social media
sites such as twitter, facebook, etc. and YouTube as it is the most visited site on the
internet.
• Type of magazine: Time has the world's largest circulation for a weekly news
magazine. Therefore I find it a good option to try and convince them to support
my magazine.
• Film distributor: Entertainment One is a publicly traded Canadian multinational
mass media and entertainment company. Based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, the
company is primarily involved in the acquisition, distribution, and production of
music, as well as the distribution of other entertainment content, such as films and
television series.
Evaluation
• Through the creation of this power point presentation I aimed to showcase key
features that will be essential in the production, distribution and promotion of the
film. During this presentation I have so-so visualized how my short film will look
like, and what production stages are needed in order to complete and achieve my
desired outcome. This pitch presentation is a crucial part for my film as well as for
further development such as for the script and the storyboard.

The pitch

  • 1. The Pitch Key features essential in production, distribution and promotion of short film
  • 2. Introduction The main purpose of this presentation is to showcase features that will be essential in the production, distribution and promotion of the short film I want to make. In my pitch presentation I would like to create a : • Target audience profile( Wants, needs and interests of an individual) • Film Treatment( I will detail the plot, locations, characters, filming style and taglines for the short film.) • Endorsements( explain for which companies I would like to work with in order to distribute and promote my short film.)
  • 3. Target Audience Watched a few short films Active audience Watches TrailersAged 15-18 Participates in social media Favorite genre is sport and drama Goes to cinema regularly Enjoys watching films
  • 4. Film Treatment-Synopsis • The plot begins as Two teenagers, a boy and a girl, train basketball at the same club. As both of them feel that their potential basketball career is taking away their private and social life, they make fake Instagram accounts in order to start flirting online. After flirting for weeks, they organize a blind date for a Friday afternoon by 8 and agree to meet. However both the boy and the girl are a bit frightened as they have very low self confidence. And since they have only been doing basketball and school for the past years, they have completely forgotten how to prepare for a date. As a result to solve this issue, they both start thinking if they should go or send someone else instead of themselves. They start thinking, who could be their own ideal replacement for this date. Both of them send their best friends for this meeting. As the 2 friends get there and see each other, they realize, that they are from the same school and that they actually know each other. They go and enjoy themselves as it is a proper date, and realize that they were actually meant to be for one another. In the end, they are the ones that get together, while the main characters are still sitting home, backing out from the meeting they were supposed to go to and waiting for information from their friends about what happened.
  • 5. Film Treatment Camera styles: I will use a number of different shots and camera angles to create a suspense, and deliver the story. The use of styles such as Close ups will be used regularly through different scenes in order to emphasize the importance of devices or actions as well as displaying information. POV shots or point of view shots are going to be used especially in scene 2 to make the audience more involved and interested in the action taking part in the film. Another type I will like to use are extreme close up to emphasize the importance of texts on devices. Through the use of narrative, I will explain how the film will capture atmosphere.
  • 6. Film Treatment • The locations will be: • school basketball gym • Park • Room:( male/female) Protagonist Locations
  • 7. Film Treatment Characters will be: Characters The main Female character will have a strong personality age 15-18. She will have an ordinary look as she looks to be an innocent girl. The main Male character shall poses a strong lead, age 15-18. Friend(female) : she should be an attractive young girl hopefully age 15-17 who addresses a sweet girl. Friend(male): he should be a positive attitude guy, good looking, a type who would help out his good friend.
  • 8. Film Treatment • The budget of most short films in productions are pretty low and producers/directors rely on their creativity and inventions instead of expensive equipment's such as tripods or expensive Cameras. • My film budget will be based on the minimum. The characters that will be helping me to produce the film are unprofessional(Friends) therefore do not have to paid and do it for free. Through pre production I have no expenses and have locations which are completely free and accessible. The only expenses will be: • Transportation(incase we need any) • Editing software

During this presentation I have so-so visualized how my short film will look like, and what production stages are needed in order to complete and achieve my desired outcome. This pitch presentation is a crucial part for my film as well as for further development such as for the script and the storyboard.
