Tom Brett has proposed three ideas for creating promotional flyers for a client's summer camp programs. Idea 1 involves creating postcard-sized flyers using existing organization photos in a collage format along with event details. Idea 2 features a simpler design with graphics and ribbon text on a black background. Idea 3 has more text describing the organization and events on one side, and a few annotated photos on the other. Tom evaluates each idea, determining that Idea 1 best matches what the client wants by showcasing the fun activities in a bright, engaging format like the organization's website. Tom will develop Idea 1 further over a 3 week production period.

Transforming Brand Perception and Boosting Profitabilityaaryangarg12
In today's digital era, the dynamics of brand perception, consumer behavior, and profitability have been profoundly reshaped by the synergy of branding, social media, and website design. This research paper investigates the transformative power of these elements in influencing how individuals perceive brands and products and how this transformation can be harnessed to drive sales and profitability for businesses.
Through an exploration of brand psychology and consumer behavior, this study sheds light on the intricate ways in which effective branding strategies, strategic social media engagement, and user-centric website design contribute to altering consumers' perceptions. We delve into the principles that underlie successful brand transformations, examining how visual identity, messaging, and storytelling can captivate and resonate with target audiences.
Methodologically, this research employs a comprehensive approach, combining qualitative and quantitative analyses. Real-world case studies illustrate the impact of branding, social media campaigns, and website redesigns on consumer perception, sales figures, and profitability. We assess the various metrics, including brand awareness, customer engagement, conversion rates, and revenue growth, to measure the effectiveness of these strategies.
The results underscore the pivotal role of cohesive branding, social media influence, and website usability in shaping positive brand perceptions, influencing consumer decisions, and ultimately bolstering sales and profitability. This paper provides actionable insights and strategic recommendations for businesses seeking to leverage branding, social media, and website design as potent tools to enhance their market position and financial success.

4. Idea 1
Idea 1 is to create a postcard sized leaflet or flyer which will be mainly made up of images that have already
been taken by the organisation, this will mean that I do not need to fill out any copyright forms, and I won’t
have to ask for parental consent either because that would have already been done as the organisation
would have asked the parents if they could take the original photos. I will then use the photos and make a
collage to fill the flyer to create a shattered glass effect, over this I will have text that has specific details
about the required age, date, and link to the website. In the corner of the flyer I will insert the YCYH logo as
well as the logo for a helping charity. The colours I will use on the XCiTE flyer will be made up mainly by the
colour green as that is what is shown on the website, where as I will use the colour red for the text on the
XPLoRE flyer as that is what is shown on the website. If there is enough space on the flyer I will also insert
the link to the website so parents can go to visit it if they need more information. The fonts I am planning on
using for these flyers will be bold and easy to read, if needed I will put a stroke on them, as I want to work
with a colour scheme but I don’t want the text to be unreadable especially as the flyers are aimed at
children.
5. Evaluation of idea
• What do you like about the idea?
This is my strongest idea, I like it because its quite similar to the previous product however it will
be updated and improved by using higher quality images and by spending more time producing
it. The flyer will be full of action packed imagery and text that stands out, this will link perfectly
with the kind of holiday that will be promoted.
• Does it match what the client wants?
This matches perfectly with what the client wants because they mentioned about having images
of the subjects doing fun activities, the brief also specified about having details about the dates,
age range, and prices, as well as having the 2 different logos on there. There is no specific colour
scheme, just as long as it is bright and grabs attention.
• Are you capable of delivering this?
I have previously created similar products like this previously meaning that I should be capable to
deliver these flyers and they should be at a higher quality than the similar things I have created
before because I have learned more about Photoshop.
• Can you do this on time?
I should be able to complete these flyers on time as there are only 2 of them and they are quite
similar, especially when I have 3 weeks of production to complete them.
• Do you have the resources available to do this?
I have the required programs and software at college and at home to be able to complete these
tasks at home as well as during college time.
6. Idea 2
Idea 2 is to create another postcard sized flyer, however instead of having a lot of bright imagery and text, I
will use simple graphics and designs which will hopefully appeal more to the older audience. The flyer will
have a black background with a wooden cross on it, around the cross will be a ribbon which will be green if it
is for XCiTE or red if it is for XPLoRE. The ribbon will have white text on it with information about ages, dates,
and prices, it will also have a white stroke around it whilst the cross will have a drop shadow or will be shown
at an angle to give a 3D look to it. The bottom 2 corners will have the YCYH logo and the CCI logo as well.
7. Evaluation of idea
• What do you like about the idea?
I like this idea because it will be more simple to design and create, it will also look
aesthetically pleasing as well. This idea also allows me to experiment more with tools on
Photoshop which will improve ability.
• Does it match what the client wants?
It will match what the client wants because it fills out all the criteria, however as an idea it
is not as good as idea 1 because idea 1 shows what the holiday is truly like. So even though
idea 2 has what is required, it does not fill out what would be preferred by the organisation,
and is definitely not like the website.
• Are you capable of delivering this?
I have used the shape tool and the roto-scope tool many times in previous projects so
creating these flyers shouldn’t be a problem, it might take more time to produce but the
end product will be sleek.
• Can you do this on time?
I should be able to complete these flyers on time as there are only 2 of them and they are
quite similar, especially when I have 3 weeks of production to complete them.
• Do you have the resources available to do this?
I have the required programs and software at college and at home to be able to complete
these tasks at home as well as during college time.
8. Idea 3
Idea 3 is to create a flyer that is the size of an average postcard, and instead of having a larger image to text
ratio I will have a larger text to image ratio. This is so I can put more information about the different events
and about the organisation as well, this makes the flyer just as informative as the website however it does
not require the effort of using a computer or a laptop. The text will be black whilst the background is white,
this is because it makes the text easier to read, for the same reason I will make the text using a larger and
more readable font like Arial. This flyer will be double sided, one side will be full of text explaining what the
organisation is and also explains the details of the camps and events. The other side of the flyer will have a
few images showing children doing activities and having fun with a few annotations next to them explaining
what events the children can partake in. On the side of the flyer with all the text there will also be the two
logos that were mentioned in the brief, the CCI logo and the YCYH logo.
9. Evaluation of idea
• What do you like about the idea?
I like this idea because it is informative and lets the reader know with precise detail about what the
organisation is like and what the events are like as well, this will give the reader a feeling of security because of
how much they know about the events. I like the practicality of this idea as well, and how it would be easier for
someone to read the one flyer compared to visiting the website.
• Does it match what the client wants?
It will match what the client wants because it fills out all the criteria, however as an idea it is not as good as
idea 1 because idea 1 shows what the holiday is truly like. So even though idea 3 has what is required, it does
not fill out what would be preferred by the organisation, and is definitely not like the website. Idea 3 has a lot
of text where as Idea 1, the website, and the preferred ideas from the client all show that the flyer contains
images and bright text showing off how fun the events are.
• Are you capable of delivering this?
I am very much capable of delivering this because it is not a challenging task because it only requires me to be
able to type a fair amount of text and to just place a few images on to the other side. Each of these skills I use
in day to day tasks and routines.
• Can you do this on time?
I should be able to complete this flyer on time as there is only 1 of it and it very simple to design and complete,
especially when I have 3 weeks of production to complete it.
• Do you have the resources available to do this?
I have the required programs and software at college and at home to be able to complete these tasks at home
as well as during college time.
10. Idea Evaluation
Which of your ideas do you want to develop further? Explain why you think that is
the right idea to take forward.
I will develop idea 1 further, even though both ideas fit the required criteria, idea 1 is
similar to previous flyers and is also similar to other products used by the organisation.
Even though idea 2 has a more sleek and relaxed design, idea 1 is more fit for purpose
as there is a lot more action and will also show a lot more of the camp itself as well as
the activities, this should be good with the target audience because they will be able
to look forward to signing up.
15. Assessment of final ideas
Suitable for audience? My final ideas are definitely suitable for the audience because there will be use of appropriate
images and text that is directed towards people of that age. The flyer aimed at the younger audience will have larger and
bolder text so it is easier to read, the images used will also be bigger and show a lot of fun and adventure as a way to get
the audience excited and to book the holiday. The second flyer is aimed at a slightly older audience, it will have similar
features to the first flyer however there will be more images that will be smaller so I can fit more in, the colour scheme will
be different as well because it will help to distinguish between the two different flyers.
Suitability for client? These ideas are suitable for the client because they have created flyers similar to this previously, it is
also suitable because it meets the requirements that were set in the brief especially when talking about images of the
activities as well as having the two different logos in the corner of the flyers.
Appeal of the work: These flyers will appeal to the audience because the target age is quite young so the use of images
showing a lot of energy and activity will hopefully give the audience something to look forward to so they get their parents
to book the holiday. The use of bright and bold text should be appealing as well because it will be easy to read and it will
be colourful so it will catch the readers eye.
Timescales for production: I have a few weeks worth of production time for this project which will be plenty of time to
create these two flyers. The rest of the time I have will be used for planning, evaluating, and if I can, improving. I am
hoping to create these flyers as quick as I can and then spend the rest of my time making improvements because that way
I will have made something to hand in for the deadline.
Costs: There will be no need to spend money during this project because all the equipment and software I need will be
provided by college or I will have the required programs and software at home.
Personnel: I will need to personnel because all the images have already been taken and I have permission to access them from the
organisation’s social media pages such as Facebook, this is helpful because I will not need to purchase any licenses to use the images,
and there will already be parental consent because the organisation would have already got it to take the images in the first place.
16. Assessment of final ideas
Legal and ethical issues: There are not many legal and ethical issues that I will
face during production, the photos that I will use will all be from the organisation’s
social media pages, this means I will not face any copyright problems because I am
being allowed to use their own images for a product I am making for them. One issue
that I could possibly face is the fact I am using images with subjects who are under 18 in
them, however the photos that I will be using will already have parental consent
because the organisation would have needed it to take the photos in the first place.
18. Competition/Market research:
My client does not face much competition because it is quite unique, it is a Christian organisation who run camps
throughout the year, there are not that many organisations who do this meaning that there isn’t much competition in
terms of other organisations on the same scale or budget as YCYH. The closest competition that it faces is an event
called ‘Soul Survivor’ which is a Christian camp/festival however it is on a much larger scale with over thousands upon
thousands of people attending each event. The reason there is competition is because both events clash with each
other during the summer holidays, even though the YCYH camp is mainly based for people from York and Soul Survivor
is based for people around the UK. Because it is a bigger and more popular event, Soul Survivor has a larger income of
money to spend on advertisement, promotional material, and even the quality of the equipment used at the event.
Both websites have a modern design however as expected Soul Survivors website is more sleek and cleaner that the
YCYH website which is very colourful, however this is because both websites are made with their target audience in
mind, as the YCYH holidays are targeted at a younger audience (8-18 year olds) and Soul Survivor events targeting at
an older audience (13-30 year olds).
19. Audience/Customer research:
As previously mentioned multiple times the target audience for the client are 8-18 year olds however this age range is
spread across three different style of holidays. For the children who are aged 8-11 they go on a holiday named XCiTE,
in which they play fun games and do safe and well instructed activities. The children who are ages 12-16 go on a camp
called XPLoRE which runs at the same time as XCiTE however the games played and the activities done are more fit for
the target audience. Finally for those who are 17-18 years old, the camp has a group of people who are called Task
Force, and their job is to clean after the campers to help make sure the camp itself runs smoothly so the leaders can
get a rest when they need it most. Even though it is a Christian holiday and there is a lot of Christian people who
attend, the target audience is still wider than that, if the child has the same age then they are allowed to go as the
holiday itself is meant to be fun and full of adventure and activity.
20. Content research:
This is an example of a flyer
created by YCYH for the same
camp last year, as you can see
the quality of the images are not
too great as they are quite
blurry and pixelated. However
the design of the flyer is similar
to mine the the collage of
images, however I plan on
placing my text in a better
location or at least a space on
the flyer which isn’t being taken
up by images.
21. This is YCYH’s website that has only recently been made and finished off, it has a
colourful yet clean design, this manages to catch the eye of the audience or whoever
goes on the website meaning that they will read more and find out more about the
organisation. Another good thing about the website is the the text used is big, bold, and
easy to read which will attract more people because a problem that other websites face
is that they have too much small text which turns people away.
22. Treatment
As the brief mentions, I will be creating 2 flyers for the Whithaugh adventure holiday hosted by
YCYH, one flyer will be targeted at 8-11 year olds, this flyer will contain images of children the
same age as the audience doing various activities which shows them having fun. There will be 4
images on the flyer and will be put together like a collage however they will have a thick black
line separating each images, this is so the flyer is easier to look at and so the images don’t clash
with each other. On top of the images will be some text that explains what the camp is and
what the name of the camp is, how much it is, who its for, and written on the flyer will be the
link to the website where the readers can find out more. The font I will be using will be large
and bold so it easier to read, I will use the colour green unless it clashes with the images
because that’s the colour code that’s been used on the website. The other flyer that I am
creating is aimed at 12-16 year olds, this flyer will be very similar to the first one except there
will be a few differences. The images I will use will feature children of the same age as the
target audience having fun with their activities and talks, however unlike the previous flyer,
there will be more images that are slightly smaller because it will be made for an older
audience who will not get as confused by the flyer like the 8-11 year olds will. The images will
be separated by thick black lines again like the XCiTE flyer but instead it green text explaining
what everything is there will be red text which says XPLoRE in large capital letters, the reason
why the text will be red is because the XPLoRE section is red on the YCYH website. Each flyer
will have the YCYH logo and the CCI logo because that was one of the specific requirements in
the brief.
