The storyboards that I have selected are illustrated by famous
storyboard artists. I chose to pick these specific storyboards as I am
more familiar with these films. When analysing these storyboards, I
will mention the different features included and how some of these
features may help me create my storyboard.
As I our genre is thriller and drama, I will be analysing different films
from these genres.
3. + Being a popular Marvel
film, Spider-man has been
illustrated quite well.
The different shades of pencil
sketches help outline the effect of
each scenes. Each detail
emphasises on how dramatic the
scene need to be.
Using arrows help the directors to
assist the actors on which way to
move or face. This can be helpful
as it makes it easier for the scene
to be set out in a clear way and
flow easily.
The use of words
encourage the scene to
be more energetic and
exaggerates on the
impact of the scene.
4. +
The eyes are point towards the
passenger. This shows that the
simplest form, such as eye contact is
important. It allows there to be an
emphasis on the emotions of the
character at the time. In this scene the
creature looks curious or alert of what
is taking place outside of the
spaceship.
Each scene is filled with detail, which is
important to show as it helps the
manufactures to create a real model of
each spaceship. Without the amounts of
detail, it would be difficult to make
appropriate items to fit the scene.
Although there is no specific colour
attached to the images, it means that there
is no restrictions to the colour. However, as
it is shaded it means that the colours must
be dark to match the night represented.
There is a small outline of what is
happening in each scene. This makes it
slightly easier to further explain what is
happening in the scene? This will be
useful to use in my storyboard, as I will
have an opportunity to quickly explain
what is taking place in the scene.
5. + The characters have a darker
shade than the flags at the
back. The different shades
show that the scene is solely
focused on the two men.
Therefore, having the flags in
a different shade allows the
director to focus less on the
additions of the scene and
only pay attention to the two
characters.
The facial expressions are shown in
great depth. This helps the
character to have a clear idea of
what their emotions should be at
the time of the scene.
A variety of camera shots is
represented through close ups and
long shot, this is sincerely important as
it makes it clear to the director on what
shots to use at each specific scene.
6. +
Arrows seem to be a
feature which is important in
most action films. The
intensity of the fighting is
represented through the
arrows. The direction in
which the arrows are
pointing seem to be useful,
as it helps the characters
and directors to have
control of the scene.
The quick sketch of
the roads and
buildings, emphasis
on the speed of the
scene.
The posture of the character
is also sketched specifically
according to the impact of
the scene. This is
specifically helpful to the
character as they have a
rough idea on how they
should position.
In my opinion it seems
important to have at least a
little description of the
scene. This makes it easier
for the scenes to be
simplified.
7. +
The reflection of the
eyes are suspicious and
show curiosity. By
illustrating this scene on
the storyboard, allows
the characters to focus
on the intensity of the
scene.
Again the arrows show that
the direction of the scene is
important. Using these make
it easier for the scene to be
set and filmed.
Different shades for the
setting outlines the age of
the place, for example the
‘hut’ behind the car is
shaded awkwardly to
emphasis on it being broken
and old. Having a small
description is also known
to be appropriate and
best for making it easier
for the crew to set up the
setting.
8. +
This storyboard is completely
different to every other
storyboard that I have
analysed. It has no words nor
arrows to direct the actors and
their positioning in the scene.
There are extreme close
ups of the shower curtain,
which instantly creates a
suspense to the moment.
The shots which solely focus on
the woman represent the
danger she may be in. The
sketches in the storyboard
portray this perfectly as it helps
bring intensity to the scene.
Having a variety of camera
shots is important as there
is a range to use, this
alone allows the scene to
be serious and have an
effect on the audience.
