2. This is a screenshot of the title of our film in our title
sequence. We chose to put the title name towards the
beginning of the sequence because we had looked at existing
title sequences (especially a film ‘Dexter’) and we felt that
putting it towards the begging would be most suitable. Also
we originally had the Title at the end of the sequence, which
we felt looked a bit too much like a movie trailer, so that’s
when we then went and looked at existing sequences and
took inspiration from there. In this particular part where the
title comes up, the sound also changes straight after, this links
in an element of missing because the music turns quite sad
and dephtful, therefore the title foreshadows the story of
someone going ‘missing’.
3. This is a screenshot of the setting/location. We chose to have the
setting of our sequence in a house (one of the characters houses)
and we used a particular character to portray that it was one of the
main characters. We decided not to put too many locations in the
sequence at once, as it could be quite confusing and a bit too much
to viewers so we kept it simple and only chose to do one location.
This shot particularly shows a whole shot of the house, showing only
one location; which is the only location in the whole sequence. This
part of the sequence appears just after the character leaves the
house, then the camera then follows up the side of the house,
showing that it isn’t the main location of the movie because it fades
away form the house and then in theory would follow onto the first
scene of the movie.
4. This is a screenshot of costumes and props. These aren't the
only costumes and props that we used in our sequence, it is
just a small element of what we used. This shows a jewellery
stand and some photo frames. These certain elements appear
before the character does to show that the sequence starts in
somebody’s house/room. We chose to do a montage for the
beginning part of our sequence showing all the things in the
characters room, like photos and girly things in the room; also,
the fact that we used a girls room shows the viewer that the
main character will most likely be a girl.
5. This is a screenshot of camera work and editing. This
particular shot is right at the beginning of the sequence
and within this shot it shows the camera panning up the
side of the house, almost as it has eyes of its own and it is
showing the view from a persons perspective watching
the house. We also added an effect ‘Vignette’ which
added a dark gradient outline on each shot, we felt that
this was an appropriate effect for our shots as it showed a
sort of sad, mysterious filter towards the shots.
6. This is a screenshot of Title font style. We chose a
simple, yet bold font because we didn’t want it to be
too distracting from the sequence. We decided to
make the letters caps because it just added that bold
effect to it, and lower caps weren't as effective as the
bold ones. We made the title sequence names of
people first names in a bigger size, and the surname a
smaller size because we felt that it was more
professional and was recommended to do so.
7. This is a screenshot of the story and how the opening sets
it up. This particular shot shows a view of someone
watching one of the character through her window
opening her blind. This creates a picture of someone
watching her, and showing that she is the main target of
someone out to get her. It shows the branches in the way,
almost as if she's being watched but whoever/whatever is
watching her is hidden and they can only see her. We
chose to do this because it created an effect of her being a
high target, and main character of the movie.
8. This is a screenshot of Genre and how the opening
suggests it. This particular shot shows the character leaving
her house, and then the camera fading and panning up the
rest of the house; the fact that the girl walks off into the
distance creates an element of the movie title ‘Missing’ as
it just fades out and she almost disappears and goes
missing where the camera doesn’t follow her. Also, this
shot relates to the genre of the movie which is ‘Teenage
thriller’ because it shows a young person (which teenagers
can relate too) and it makes the viewer eager to find out
what happens to her and what's going to happen next.
9. This screenshot shows How characters are introduced. This
shows one character – the main one. The sequence consists of
the showing of only one character, as she is the main one and
she is the one who is mainly involved in the plot of the story,
which viewers will also assume as she's the only one shown in
the sequence – it shows an obvious give away to the main
character. Also the sequence is set in the main characters house,
therefore is shows that she is enclosed in her own space
showing that she is the only one there, however the outside
scenes show that someone is outside and watching her, and not
in her own space. So when she leaves her house at the end of
the sequence is represents her leaving her own personal space
and becoming more vulnerable.
10. This screenshot shows special effects – which in this case is the
sound. The sound changes when the character is introduced, into
a more slow, sad sound as it represents something could possibly
happen to the character. The sound used creates and builds up
more tension to the sequence because it shows the more thriller
side, leaving the viewer wanting to know what's going to happen
next or what's possibly going to happen to her.
