Gender Equality And Gender Discrimination Essay
Gender equality? Is it really a time in modern day age when women are considered to be equal to men or do women still have a long way to go?
Throughout history men have been the dominant gender and women have been thought to be less than the man. Men have held positions of power and
authority while women have hidden in the shadows of men. In the 21st century, women have made great strides in attempts to be treated equally as
men but are still treated differently. This modern day society believesgender equality exists but in reality, there is clearly an inequality amongst people
creating negative stereotype gender roles, sexually degrading and gender discrimination towards women. The 21st century has seen a dramatic shift in
traditional family dynamics and has pulled apart gender–role divisions. During World War II men dutifully joined the military and women went to
work in the factories, taking on occupations that were traditionally held by men. When the war ended, women returned to their traditional roles as
wives and mothers (Winograd, 2016). Women began to realize that they too, can carry out roles of the men. As the years began to change so did the
thoughts and ideas of women. Women now believe that men and women should be treated as equals, and women have every right to be in the position
of traditional men roles. Winograd (2016) explains that "women are refusing to accept any restrictions based on their gender...on what they might be
allowed to do and what

Moho Model Of MOHO
Introduction The Model of Human Occupation (MOHO) is a breakdown of how a person engages in their daily activities from their disability or
illness. It gives an occupational therapist a guide to understand and specify the client's inadequacy of engagement. "The clients thinking, feeling, and
doing are central to therapy and the model takes into account both mind and body. In MOHO the environment can demand and offer opportunities for
occupational performance (Ramafikeng, 2009)." This model helps the therapist to find reasoning through their client`s behaviors and be able to
promote health and recovery in their daily occupations. By looking into the client`s volition, habituation, and performance capacity this specifies the
therapist of their client`s abilities and incapability's they have while engaging in an occupation. Then analyzing what environmental contexts ables or
disables the client`s behavior.
Person–Environment–Occupation
Volition is how a person is influenced and how they make their own choices while engaging in an occupation. This guides a person to know what
occupations they want to participate in. In MOHO volition is broken down into three parts: interests, personal causation, and values. In the case of Sam
his volition is to be a better student to make his parents proud despite, the occupation (formal education) he is having difficulty with. He finds interest
in playing video games, games on the computer, and one day being able to design video games. Sam

The Leadership Qualities Of A Athletic Administrator
School and athletic administrators, coaches and parents have transformed the purpose of youth participation in organized athletic programs from
children/teenagers simply having fun to economic gains. Today, youth sports emulate the win at all costs philosophy of collegiate and professional
sports, which has resulted in the decrease of participation and retention. The definition of success is not whether a student has improved his or her life
either academically, athletically or personally by participating in sports, but instead the number of wins and championships accumulated. Coaches
across all athletic arenas, professionally, collegiate, and youth are terminated for failure to produce wins and championships, yet those who choose to...

Case Study : Health Risk And Sport Participation
Case Analysis 8.10: Health Risk and Sport Participation
The following is a case study analysis on Case 8:10 Health Risk and Sport Participation. This particular case involves five individuals, all of which
are employed and or playing for the athletic department at BTU University. One of the individuals in this case is star BTU football linebacker A.B.
Another individual is BTU Head Football Coach J.M. In addition to A.B and J.M, the other individuals associated with this particular case are the
head football trainer, the team physician for the football team as well as the Director of Athletics for BTU N.P. This particular case all revolves
around star linebacker A.B who recently established a record for most tackles in a single season (Malloy, 2003, pp. 160).
The problem developed when A.B lay paralyzed on the field during spring training during his junior year but shortly thereafter he recovered with only
slight numbness once he tackled someone. The numb sensation was felt in his arms and legs, which placed extreme pressure on his nerves. Thereafter,
A.B was referred to a neurosurgeon, which performed an X–Ray as well as an MRI which led to the prognosis that A.B suffered from spinal stenosis.
Spinal stenosis is a narrowing of the spinal cord which, puts athletes especially football players such as A.B at an even greater risk for injury.
Following that appointment, A.B went to get a second opinion regarding the situation, and the verdict was still the same.

Sport Management Personal Statement
A)The path that lead me to choose Sport Management as a major began at a young age where I demonstrated my admiration for sports. I have been
participating in sports my entire life and still do to this day. Unfortunately, my time as an athlete will eventually come to an end and I will need to
find an occupation that I have passion for. I asked myself the question, "Why not continue my passion in sports"? Being able to work with sports, but
not directly in the spotlight, as an athlete is something I would love to be apart of. I have past experience working with sports, but not as an athlete. I
have had the opportunity to work with ESPN to help broadcast the NCAA Division One National Wrestling Tournament. My job was to communicate

Personal Statement On Team Rules
13. Team Rules I will determine most of the basic rules concerning GPA, being late to practice, and the consequences for not reaching the statistics
base marks (number of points scored in a quarter, serving percentage, etc.) set before each game by the coaching staff. However, rules concerning
what to wear on game days, whether team lunches are required, etc. I will leave up to my team to decide at the beginning of the season. I also
believe that because they will be setting up these rules that they are also the ones responsible for the consequences as well. 14. Scholarships I
want to be an extremely active coach concerning recruiting. As a coach, I would like to eventually coach at the collegiate level and having the
ability to both network as well as produce players that are scholarship worthy is a way to portray my ability as a coach. As a coach, I want what is
best for my players and I want them to truly love the sport. If they come to love the sport and would like to play on in college, I want them to be
able to have that opportunity. I did not have any coaches that were active in helping me to know how to recruit myself. I think that if I would have
had more information about recruiting then it would have benefitted me as an athlete. I will make sure that every freshman that comes into my
program is aware of the NCAA Eligibility Center and how the recruiting process works regardless of whether I think they could play collegiately. As a
coach, I will not know until

Professional Athlete Controversy
Professional sports have evolved into one of the most influential aspects of modern culture. The unscripted nature of competition, combined with larger
than life figures, like Peyton Manning and Lebron James, has inevitably resulted in people looking towards sportspeople for guidance and inspiration.
However, this unintended consequence is where the controversy surrounding professional athletes arises. With such a tremendous level of influence,
recent scandals have caused people to question whether the social position of athletes somehow obligates them to behave in a manner that conveys a
positive message to others. In other words, spectators, such as Bethany Withers of The New York Times, argue that the influential nature of being a star

In other words, she agrees with Golden that selective implementation, the act of choosing when and how to enforce league regulations, on the part of
league officials has created an environment in which punishments are determined based on the "caliber of athlete" (par.5). However, Withers argues
that regardless of what the league does to condone or neglect misconduct, at the end of the day unscrupulous athletes are responsible for their own
actions and should henceforth be held accountable for the recurring violence that has plagued professional sports, as well as the negative influence they
have on fans. To support this claim, she draws attention to the case of Aaron Hernandez, the New England Patriots tight end who found success in the
NFL, despite of his consistent off–field drug usage and violent demeanor, before eventually being indicted on murder charges for the death of Odin
Lloyd (par. 5). She argues that this type of repetitive criminal behavior is indicative of a sociopath and only succeeds in sending a negative message to
today's youth. Therefore, she believes that in order to address this issue, individuals must recognize the level of

NBA General Manager One of the dream jobs of many people who love basketball is to be the general manager of a NBA team. The general manager
position is the captain of the ship as it puts together the team roster and has to make the executive decisions of trades and other financial transactions.
The general manager also hires and fires the coaching staff. The only person the general manager answers to is the owner of the team. A general
manager's success is determined by how well the team progressed throughout the season. A NBA general manager has to keep team morale up and

Account Coordinators will most likely work at sports marketing firms and require good oral communication skills because they help maintain strong

How Have Gender Stereotypes Changed Over The Years
The way people look at gender has changed quickly over the past few years. Gender has always been a social topic on what boys should do and what
girls should do. The new generation of young adults seem to break the mold of gender stereotypes with effortless ease. I have seen many classmates
and many schools changing the status quo of gender within the last few years. My generation has a different opinion on gender stereotypes than my
grandparents and even my parents. Gender stereotypes are rapidly changing with each generation, whether it be through sports or the occupations
people have.
My Grandparents went to high school in the mid 1950's and women were not allowed to play many sports back then. My Grandma told me that they
thought the girls would get hurt. My grandmother played basketball and they didn't let the girls cross the half court line. They had three girls on
each side so that they did not over exert themselves. Nowadays, girls can play almost any sport they want. Hockey is a good example of how girls
can play sports that are typically played by males. Most people think of hockey as an aggressive contact sport, similar to football or Rugby. There are
so many girls now that play hockey with the same intensity and physicality as men. Afemale friend of mine who went to middle school with me, played
on a travel hockey team. If you saw her, she would not be someone you would guess could be capable of playing an aggressive and physical sport like
hockey. She always

Recruitment And Selection Of The Leisure Industry
The recruitment and selection of experienced, skilled and self–motivating employees for stability and longevity in leisure industry organisations.
Abstract:
Human resource management is the foundation to any organisation's success; it is its people who form an essential part of any organisation. The
efficiency and quality of its people determines the organisations fate. Choosing the right people and placing them in the right positions is vital. This is
where effective recruitment and selection is fundamental. This paper concludes that seven steps should be taken to implement recruitment and selection
policies and guidelines which help to surpass performance results of the past. This paper analyses the gap of recruitment and selection of experienced,
skilled and self–motivating employees for stability and longevity in leisure industry organisations. In addition, this paper focuses on a selected
organisation within the leisure industry in Queensland Australia, City Venue Management (CVM).
Introduction:
People are an integral part of any organisation. No organisation can run without its human resources, its greatest asset. In today's highly complex and
competitive market, choosing the right person in the right place has far reaching implications for an organisations functioning. According to (Noe,
Hollenbeck, Gerhart & Wright 2015, Pg219), 'recruitment is the practice or activity carried on by the organisation with the primary purpose of

South Korea Research Paper
The sociocultural role of sport in the country, including any political implications
South Korea loves sport, sport is not only a popular physical activity but is a significant social practice. Sport operates as an important cultural resource
and produces and disseminates nationalism. Indeed, in recent years, south korea has shown competence in hosting, playing, and managing sport. South
Korean athletes have created notable results at major international sport events. For example, since 1984, the national Summer Olympic team has
unfailingly been ranked in the top 10 nations on the medal table, with the only exception being the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games. The country has also

This has had profound implications in the development of Korean society. Soon after the liberation from Japan in 1945, the peninsula was sectioned
into two parts and 5 years later, civil war broke out in 1950. This war ended in 1953 without a peace treaty, which means the two countries still
technically are at war. More than 50 years of division has influenced the culture and national opinions of the Korean people. The two Koreas see each
other as political and military enemies, but they also see themselves as an ethnically homogenous nation. So there is a strong desire on both sides of the
fence to reunify so that a unified Korean nation state can be created. The reunification of the nation is one of the largest political projects in both South
and North Korea. This ethnic nationalism allows for occasional cooperation between the two countries such as North Korea and South Korea marching
together for the 2000 Sydney Olympics, 2004 Athens Olympics and 2006 Turin Olympics. Sport in Korea has reflected these complicated relations.
International competitions created a symbolic battlefield between the two countries, at least until the 1980s. North and South Korean governments
invested heavily in developing skilled athletes and funded part of the development of high performance sport in order to win more medals in
international games. This arms

Personality And Gender Essay
Personality, Gender and their Relationship in a Kinesiology Program A person can be defined in many ways: sex, age, hair colour, weight, and most
importantly personality. The personality of a person can be a determining factor of many areas of a person's life. Personality can be a predictor of
whether a person likes or dislikes sports, how much schooling there will go through and what occupation a person may chose. There are many
aspects to a person's personality and there are an numerous ways to determine a person's personality. One of the ways to determine an individual's

There have been many studies that have supported the hypothesis of the connection between the two. Including one study that suggested that one can
determine vocational interests by using different personality tools and these "...alternative factors may provide direct indicators of individual's

researchers attempted "...to examine the prediction of career indecision using personality and vocational interests" (Burns, Morris, Rousseau &
Taylor,2013 p.1). Additionally, the personality of a person literally affects every decision an individual makes and there have been many studies that
support theories similar to this. For example, personality and gender can be used to predict grades, among other things, for first year post secondary
students. There is a relationship between a few personality traits and the quality of effort put forth by a first year post secondary student. A personality
trait like extroversion is significantly related to effort given by the student in social and academic activities and males are less agreeable than woman

Athletes Should Not Be Paid Than Athletes
"Professional athletes are making too much money in a society where salaries and wages are traditionally based on the value of ones work"
("Professional Athletes"). In today 's society, one is not actually paid more based on the economic importance of their occupation. Instead, those
involved in the entertainment industry get paid larger salaries than those shaping the future. In the 1996 basketball season, Michael Jordan made
170,000 dollars a day, whereas an average teacher will only collect 40,000 dollars a year (Professional Athletes). The salaries of athletes do not

The Leader of the free world, Barack Obama, makes critical decisions that affect the entire world every day, only to make $400,000 a year. While
President Obama is hard at work reviving the economy, a rookie in the MLB is earning way over that figure. Furthermore, firefighters, doctors, and
police officers protect and save lives while risking their own for only a small portion of what sports stars make. For the same reasons individuals in
the military leave their families at home for months to preserve and defend the country knowing full well they may never return. "It 's truly a pity that
none of these true heroes are given the same recognition by society as athletes such as Brett Favre or Michael Jordan are given" (). The humorously
large salary awarded to professional athletes is a lucid reminder to many that money is tearing professional sports apart. Each year there are strikes and
lockouts because the athletes believe that their pay is not sufficient. "Once they have gotten a whiff of the riches they will do anything to get more,

hockey with the same intensity as when men play. A good friend of mine, who went to the same middle school as me, played on a travel hockey
team. If you saw her, you would never expect her to play hockey. She always wore dresses and has her hair done. She is not your typical hockey
playing girl. After seeing her play in a game, my impression of her changed. She was very physical when going after other players with the puck.
She would hit other players into the glass now and then. She could handle other players hitting her pretty hard as well. She got rocked by one player
and just got back up on her skates and went back into the fray. Now, I believe she is the toughest girl I know. She completely breaks the mold of the
small, frail, girl stereotype.
Another example of girls playing a manlier sport would be football. I went to an all–boys catholic high school, and right next door to us was our sister

Statement Of Purpose: A Career In The Athletic Field
For as long as I can remember, my profession of choice has been an occupation in the healthcare field. My dad often reminisces on when I was
three when he would ask me "What's your name?" I would reply with "Dr. Peppers." Well sixteen years later my dream of being a doctor no longer
exists, however my goal to become one of the best athletic trainers in the country is burning with passion. Growing up I wanted to be several different
occupations like a trauma nurse, an obstetrician, or a physical therapist, before realizing after two years of high school sports medicine that athletic
training was my niche. In coming to better comprehend athletic training as a career, my experiences in my classes and clinical here at Winthrop
along with my high school experience in sports medicine has shaped my understanding of the athletic training world. Two years ago on a crisp

thumbs, along with rehabilitation exercises and the whines and complains of athletes who would sit in the whirlpool for various injuries. After

'Athletes Stand As Role Models, Like It Or Not'
Joe Black is writer for The Daily Times. In "Athletes Stand As Role Models, Like It Or Not" Black sheds light on the tendency of star athletes to
shape society's perception of right and wrong, and criticizes athletes for not promoting moral conduct. He argues that "young folk" are highly
impressionable and that the influential nature of being a professional athlete obligates sportspeople to uphold a higher level of moral integrity than
members of the general public (par. 3). According to Black, by putting sportspeople in a position to directly influence the ideology of fans, the media
has inadvertently designated professional athletes as role models. As a result, he argues that athletes have a social obligation to conduct themselves in a

Nonetheless, this in no way obligates sportspeople to maintain an ethical lifestyle outside of sports. Just because athletes are promoted on
television and media for their prowess in tackling or scoring touchdowns, doesn't mean that people should rely on them to establish their moral
constructs. In other words, it is impractical to think that someone who excels at playing a sport automatically possesses the values and character
required to positively mold the ideology of others. Yet, this is exactly the argument that Black attempts to make. By depicting professional athletes
as role models, Black makes the inference that playing a sport is in some way virtuous. This post hoc ergo propter hoc argumentation is flawed
because it promotes the idea that being a proficient athlete somehow qualifies someone as righteous. However, athletic ability in no way translates
to the quality of an individual's value system. To highlight this issue, one can focus on the case of Tiger Woods, a professional golfer who was
heavily criticized in 2009 when it became public that he had an affair (Falzone par. 4). Although Woods is considered to be one of the most talented
golfers of al time, he leaves much to be desired in terms of character (Falzone par. 4). Consequently, it is unfair to discriminate against professional
athletes, and to generalize their occupation as noble. In sports, just like in any other profession, there are individuals who deserve to be role models

My Career As A Career : A Career
My profession I dream of is a coach or athletic director and working my way up from high school to a D1 college team. As a coach take somebody
under my wing to teach them the sport that I fell in love with has always been a dream of mine. Football has always been a big part of my life and
teaching a kid the art of it and show them how a team becomes more like a family. Also as an athletic director it helps you get familiar with not
only one sport but with a lot other teams in your school. I really love the feel of sport events just the energy it gives off you can feel the will to win
and the determination in every kid. Sports can bring out the best and worst in people everybody have a mean streak when it comes time to play
because everyone wants to win.
Athletic directors have many jobs from helping in the classroom to getting sports events set up to helping with pep rallies. They're responsible for
scheduling games, overseeing coaching staff, and organizing practices. While they are administrative like teachers they don't sit behind a desk they
mostly seen getting things ready for the next game. Athletic directors are responsible for making sure each team have an even amount of practices
scheduled before a game. As athletes use the directors as ways to set up things in college level or even the NFL for players to move on to better in their
life. A business degree is very helpful looking for a job like this because you deal with a lot of marketing and promotions. As you put in your time
and effort to help kids with sports you love you give them your all to make their experience the best. My athletic director from high school cared about
what my grades were like and how I felt on the field, gave his all to see athletes give theirs is one of the reasons I will like to be an athletic director.
Self–learning and gaining experience from others in higher positions is ways of training as you move through ranks in your association you also start
to hire staff and trainers. The sports industry was projected to grow about 145.3 billion from 2010–2015 as it has gone up a good 15%. As rates for

Overpaid Athletes Over Paid Essay
Are Athletes over paid?" YES, athletes are overpaid! People often wonder what justifies an athlete making more money than the President of the
United States. Babe Ruth replied to this question by saying "Well, I had a better year." For a while, athletes demanded and received salaries so out
of proportion with an average salary. What makes modern times different is that professional sport players are pulling in an insane amount of money,
compared to athletes that played the same sport in previous generations. Fifty years ago, only the outfielders who hit 40 homeruns would make a
huge salary. Now, however, the normal infielder who comes in as a replacement three times a week makes ten times more than an average working
man. In 1979 Nolan Ryan broke ground, he became the first athlete to receive a $1–million–a–year contract. I think that the contracts of professional
athletes have gone unchecked for too long, and now athletes are one of the wealthiest people in our nation. Athletes are paid too much for simply
playing games. Sports are really just for entertainment and we pay a colossal amount of money to watch athletes perform at the highest level. It is...

numerous majors to choose from, and each provide the student with multiple opportunities for jobs once he has completed college. One major that

orthopedic subspecialty the division was strictly overseen by primary care physicians. There was no real distinction between sports medicine
professionals and primary care physicians. In 1991, the creation of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine (AMSSM) was founded. Its
purpose was to represent the interests of non–surgical, or primary care of sports medicine specialists. Finally, in 1992 sports medicine was officially
recognized as a subspecialty under the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM). The growth has been slow, but sports medicine professionals
are finally starting to be seen in their own separate group of health care. Even with the distinction of sports medicine from other medical concentrations,

Graduation Speech : Being A Teacher
Throughout the semester, this class has been extremely beneficial to me. This class has provided many exercises and assignments that have
played a vital role in reassuring myself about what my values, interests, and skills are. I came into the class struggling about what possible major I
was going to decide to do, but now I have more of an idea of what possible occupations and majors interest me. As for occupations, I have not come
to a final decision on what my later job will be. There are majors that are in mind, but a certain occupation for sure has not yet been decided. As of
right now, the main occupation would probably be a teacher. I have been considering being a teacher because the career seems to match many of
my skills, values, and interests. I enjoy communicating with others, and teaching is primarily speaking to children. This occupation would also
give me a chance to help others. That is one of my main values as a person and this occupation would be very fitting. Many students around the
country need help and I could have the chance to make a difference in their lives. I do understand there would be many challenges down the road. I
would need to find out what certain age level of children I would teach along with what subject I would be teaching them. Teaching would also be
challenging because I am not the best at that aspect right now. To combat these challenges I will make sure I work very hard and learn as much as
possible. I will shadow teachers and speak

The Patterns Of Segregation In Major League Baseball
Another avenue that can be discussed in the sport that is being managed and why it may be harder for minorities to take over. A look in Major
League Baseball, shows that baseball is America's pastime. With the sport being a white dominated sport by leadership, it's harder for minorities to
integrate into leadership roles. Sack, Singh & Thiel (2005) suggests, there is reason to believe that positional segregation by race and ethnicity, or
stacking, does have an indirect, disparate negative impact on minorities. There are patterns of segregation in the sport of baseball and it continues since
everyone that is brought into the professional baseball world are actually playing the sport and not owning the team. . Sack, Singh & Thiel (2005) noted,

Sports Management
Someone once said, "There are those who make things happen, those who watch things happen, and those who wonder what happened." I consider
myself one of those rare people who really knows how to "make things happen." I have gone from being a follower to being a leader, from being
someone who was shy and uncertain to a person who is self–confident and assertive. It has been a remarkable metamorphosis, and it has changed my
future professional plans and personal goals. The awakening of my independence happened during the end of my softball season my freshman year in

field experience, ranging from a minor league baseball program to being a activities coordinator at a resort, to becoming a sports information assistant

Cayman Belyea
Midterm
1.What are the differences in athletic administration between interscholastic and recreational sport programs? What is the importance of having a
mission statement in any sport program?
There are many differences between interscholastic and recreational sports programs. The first big difference is the affect that school work and grades
affect your participation. In a recreational sports program, they are not looking at your grades to see if you are doing well enough to continue to play.
Whereas with interscholastic sports you must maintain a certain GPA, you are required to attended class, along with other stipulations that they may
have from a program. An athletic director is responsible for making sure that students that are participating in the interscholastic events are maintaining
the requirements that they must meet. With the recreational sports program the athletic director most likely hires someone to organize the events and
that's about all the athletic does with recreational sports. Another difference between interscholastic and recreational is that some people who are
participating in interscholastic sports are getting scholarships towards their education. Making sure that the students are following those specific
guidelines to keep their scholarship is something that and athletic director must keep track of. With recreational sports an athletic director doesn't have
to worry at all about it. Overall an athletic director doesn't have

Gender Roles Since High School Essay
Gender roles resurfaced as a pivotal factor in my life during my late adolescence. In our culture different sports are considered to be male and female
dominated respectively. Unfortunately little is done to challenge or resist these societal norms and I experienced this first hand during my senior year
of high school. Volleyball, which is considered to be a sport primarily for girls and women, was not offered to boys at my high school. Subsequently, I
was forced to petition for approval towards the creation of a male volleyball which ultimately went unsuccessful due to time constraints and
unwillingness to help from staff and administration. While this example pertained to male exclusion countless female friends of mine struggled to
participate in male–dominated sports throughout high school including wrestling and lacrosse. "Part of what schools are supposed to be doing under
Title IX, and often are not doing, is regularly assessing girls ' interest, looking to see what sports girls are playing and asking girls what they want to
play that is currently not being offered" (Wallace). In this instance my districts athletic director directly impacted the sporting experiences for the entire
student body by failing to adhere to sufficient standards with respect to gender norms. High school sports presented a unique culture with respect to
sport. Trends throughout my high school strongly reinforced dominant ideologies throughout society. Links between athletic success and

I think that in order to be a successful athletic director, one needs to keep the functional areas of sport management in mind. These four areas include:
planning, organizing, leading, and evaluating (Masteralexis, Barr, & Hums, 2015). The first aspect of planning is something that athletic directors'
need to be very good at doing. An athletic director needs to have both short and long term goals. If I were to become an athletic director, I would
want to make sure all of the student athletes received the proper tools to succeed both on and off the court. I would make sure each student athlete,
scholarship and non–scholarship, had a tutor available to them at all times. I know that the University of Florida allows each athlete to have a tutor,
however, it is optional. The reason that it is optional is because it is something that is enforced by the coaches. Therefore, I would make it a
university athletic department policy that all coaches must force their student athletes to use a tutor. I would want to make sure each athlete used
their tutor to their advantage so they could be aware of what was going on in the classroom. This would also allow students to not be stressed about
their studies, and that way they have a proper balance between their sport and education. It is a huge goal of the NCAA for their students to have a
proper balance in life, therefore I think through this plan I could implement that balance. In order to make this possible

Each coach must assist in performing regularly scheduled facility inspections to insure safety.
When using outdoor and indoor facilities, it is important to performed scheduled inspections to insure safety for the student athletes, coaches and
spectators. Although every sport have a different safety need as it pertains to facilities. That's why it is important for facilities to have an inspection
before the spectators are allowed in the venue. Coaches must also be aware of the athletics health when it pertains to heat exhaustion. Coaches also
have a duty to protect the students from injury with the proper equipment. If there is a sport that has a greater risk of injury the then there should be a
higher need for equipment protection. When it pertains to football each player must have shoulder pads, helmet, mouth piece, thigh pads and knee pads.
However, even though athletes have to wear the safety equipment in order to participate in any sport, the coaches have the responsibility to inform the
parents and the students about the inherent risks for the sport. Therefore all parents should also be aware of the specific inherent risks per sport,
athletes insurance, equipment, transportation and expectations for players and fans.

Gender Socialization Through Toys and Sports
Gender Socialization through Toys and Sports
In today's society, there are many guidelines of how one should act and be. Gender socialization is the process where people take on notions of gender
roles, gender ideas and gender behaviours. At an early age, boys and girls are told how to behave and act according to societal norms of gender
behaviours and roles. The comparison of Jane Smiley's article "You Can Never Have too Many" and John McMurty's , "Kill 'Em! Crush 'Em! Eat 'Em
Raw!" provides an insight about how gender socialization is conditioned through toys and sports at an early age. Also teaching and reinforcing
stereotypical gender roles through traits, appearances and occupation. (this is an incomplete sentence and it doesn't flow ... Show more content on

The author stereotypically socializes the gender roles of males through the quote "The choice is made straightforward. Either you, too, do your very
utmost to efficiently smash and be smashed or you admit incompetence or cowardice and quit." (McMurtry 251). This quote portrays that
stereotypically males should possess characteristics of courage and strength and that weakness is frowned upon. Society portrays an image that male
should be strong and warrior–like whereas female are nurturing and supportive at the early ages through toys and sports. Gender appearances are
also introduced in the early stages of the children. ( try and make this flow more with your previous sentence) Toys and sports also promote gender
appearances. Male appearances are characterized by being physically fit, strong and aggressive whereas females are to be beautiful, feminine and
nurturing. Jane Smiley describes Barbie as being slender, stylish and most of all popular. Barbie is often dressed in pink and wears make up.
Models in today's society fit this description which makes other females want to achieve the same look. The appearances for females set by society's
norms are presented in toys that gives off the message that 'if you do not look like this', it is considered unattractive. "Frilly, sexy, pink, purple,
bedizened, and bejewelled were the preferred Barbies," (Smiley 238) shows that females should have these characteristics in order to be seen as

The UK coaching framework was revised in 2012/2013 and a more concise document based around 'Excellent Coaching Every Time for Everyone'
which provided a focus on four main key objectives, these were:
More appropriately qualified and skilled coaches
A more diverse workforce
A culture of self–improvement
A better supported workforce.
This report will discuss the current status of coach education and coach learning in the UK. These findings will then be used to identify and recommend
to the management board of Sports–Coach UK and the Minister for sport where the investments from the central Governments for coach education and
development should be placed.

Pro Athletes Overpaid Essay
Over the years, pro–titled athletes' salaries have reached all new heights. These acclaimed athletes have been boosted onto pedestals for their athletic

athletic in their fields of employment, their exuberant salaries are inexcusable when put next to the salaries of those partaking in more dangerous,

When looking at what an athlete does to earn this huge paycheck, we see that all they truly do is swing a bat or catch a ball. This is an insane amount of
money to be making in just a year. You can take this amount and compare it to someone that is fighting a fire and saving a life. There is not even a
close relation to those numbers. Without fire fighters, we probably would lose half of our country in the substantial wild fires that sweep our nation. As
it is stated in the article, "Are Pro Athletes Paid Too Much?", theirsalary "is only about $47,000." Fire fighters risk their lives to ensure out safety
when there is a fire. What does LeBron James do to help our nation? The point that is coming to the surface here is that there are many other
professions in modern day society that deserve the payment that Mr. James is earning in a year. Look at the hospitals that help the citizens of our
country. We have nurses that sometimes work 24 hour shifts and work tirelessly to help others. This is just another piece of evidence that proves
there are harder working people that bring forth change and help to society. Stated in the article, "Are Pro Athletes Paid Too Much?", the president's
salary is only $400,000 per year. The president is the big man behind our country and he brings in a quarter of what a man that runs a ball down the
courts. This just shows how there is corruption in modern day

Essay On Why College Athletes Should Not Be Paid
Paying College Athletes is not a Solution.
To pay, or not to pay? That is the question when discussing the proposal of collegiate athletes earning a salary for participating in sports programs.
Collegiate sports programs thrive throughout the nation. A forefront in american culture, college sports bring in a multitude of money, attention, and
prestige for the school represented. Crazed fans, proud alumni and every–day spectators are entertained each year by college athletes giving there all in
the sport they love. These athletes are not given any money out of all the money raised and are often seen as used. Despite arguments towards
collegiate athlete salary proposals, payment for playing collegiate sports should not be made a possibility because earning an education in itself reaps
financial benefits, the recognition of the athletic department's roles displays flaws, and athletes are informed from the beginning what to expect out
their scholarship as well as the system. Though many people find the leeching off of these devoted athletes to be a issue, paying these athletes is not
the a possible solution to the problem.

Essay On Should Athletes Get Paid Too Much
To be successful in today's society, there is one word that comes to mind, money. Money controls people, motivates people, and is essentially the
drive for many of the decisions a person makes in their life. The American government does what they can to make success possible for the majority
of citizens, yet over 46 million Americans are living in poverty. How can it be that the wealthiest nation in the world has so many people living in
poverty? What is all of our money being put towards? While there are many good answers for this question, one is in the corrupt world of professional

So it would make sense that these people deserve salaries that put them above everybody on the wealth scale. These people are required to spend a
large amount of money and time to get where they are, so why do they make just a fraction of what athletes make? To be more specific, an average
doctor has to work everyday for 76 years to make what professional boxer Floyd Mayweather makes in a single fight, even if he loses. A backup
quarterback may never play a single snap in a game but he still will make three times as much as surgeon on average. If that isn't enough, how about the
fact that in one week the Brooklyn Nets starting five players make just slightly less than all nine supreme court justices make in a year. There is no
doubt that athletes do spend just as much time and money, if not more, as those who have professional occupations, but it all comes down to what each
occupation group really does for the country. Our country simply could not function without people like Doctors, Surgeons, Engineers, and government
officials, and while we may think we could not function without sports, we could. So why should a occupation that does nothing but entertain people
make much more than the people that keep the country

Gender Equality And Gender Discrimination Essay

  • 1. Gender Equality And Gender Discrimination Essay Gender equality? Is it really a time in modern day age when women are considered to be equal to men or do women still have a long way to go? Throughout history men have been the dominant gender and women have been thought to be less than the man. Men have held positions of power and authority while women have hidden in the shadows of men. In the 21st century, women have made great strides in attempts to be treated equally as men but are still treated differently. This modern day society believesgender equality exists but in reality, there is clearly an inequality amongst people creating negative stereotype gender roles, sexually degrading and gender discrimination towards women. The 21st century has seen a dramatic shift in traditional family dynamics and has pulled apart gender–role divisions. During World War II men dutifully joined the military and women went to work in the factories, taking on occupations that were traditionally held by men. When the war ended, women returned to their traditional roles as wives and mothers (Winograd, 2016). Women began to realize that they too, can carry out roles of the men. As the years began to change so did the thoughts and ideas of women. Women now believe that men and women should be treated as equals, and women have every right to be in the position of traditional men roles. Winograd (2016) explains that "women are refusing to accept any restrictions based on their gender...on what they might be allowed to do and what ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Moho Model Of MOHO Introduction The Model of Human Occupation (MOHO) is a breakdown of how a person engages in their daily activities from their disability or illness. It gives an occupational therapist a guide to understand and specify the client's inadequacy of engagement. "The clients thinking, feeling, and doing are central to therapy and the model takes into account both mind and body. In MOHO the environment can demand and offer opportunities for occupational performance (Ramafikeng, 2009)." This model helps the therapist to find reasoning through their client`s behaviors and be able to promote health and recovery in their daily occupations. By looking into the client`s volition, habituation, and performance capacity this specifies the therapist of their client`s abilities and incapability's they have while engaging in an occupation. Then analyzing what environmental contexts ables or disables the client`s behavior. Person–Environment–Occupation Volition is how a person is influenced and how they make their own choices while engaging in an occupation. This guides a person to know what occupations they want to participate in. In MOHO volition is broken down into three parts: interests, personal causation, and values. In the case of Sam his volition is to be a better student to make his parents proud despite, the occupation (formal education) he is having difficulty with. He finds interest in playing video games, games on the computer, and one day being able to design video games. Sam ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Leadership Qualities Of A Athletic Administrator School and athletic administrators, coaches and parents have transformed the purpose of youth participation in organized athletic programs from children/teenagers simply having fun to economic gains. Today, youth sports emulate the win at all costs philosophy of collegiate and professional sports, which has resulted in the decrease of participation and retention. The definition of success is not whether a student has improved his or her life either academically, athletically or personally by participating in sports, but instead the number of wins and championships accumulated. Coaches across all athletic arenas, professionally, collegiate, and youth are terminated for failure to produce wins and championships, yet those who choose to... • 4. Case Study : Health Risk And Sport Participation Case Analysis 8.10: Health Risk and Sport Participation The following is a case study analysis on Case 8:10 Health Risk and Sport Participation. This particular case involves five individuals, all of which are employed and or playing for the athletic department at BTU University. One of the individuals in this case is star BTU football linebacker A.B. Another individual is BTU Head Football Coach J.M. In addition to A.B and J.M, the other individuals associated with this particular case are the head football trainer, the team physician for the football team as well as the Director of Athletics for BTU N.P. This particular case all revolves around star linebacker A.B who recently established a record for most tackles in a single season (Malloy, 2003, pp. 160). The problem developed when A.B lay paralyzed on the field during spring training during his junior year but shortly thereafter he recovered with only slight numbness once he tackled someone. The numb sensation was felt in his arms and legs, which placed extreme pressure on his nerves. Thereafter, A.B was referred to a neurosurgeon, which performed an X–Ray as well as an MRI which led to the prognosis that A.B suffered from spinal stenosis. Spinal stenosis is a narrowing of the spinal cord which, puts athletes especially football players such as A.B at an even greater risk for injury. Following that appointment, A.B went to get a second opinion regarding the situation, and the verdict was still the same. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Sport Management Personal Statement A)The path that lead me to choose Sport Management as a major began at a young age where I demonstrated my admiration for sports. I have been participating in sports my entire life and still do to this day. Unfortunately, my time as an athlete will eventually come to an end and I will need to find an occupation that I have passion for. I asked myself the question, "Why not continue my passion in sports"? Being able to work with sports, but not directly in the spotlight, as an athlete is something I would love to be apart of. I have past experience working with sports, but not as an athlete. I have had the opportunity to work with ESPN to help broadcast the NCAA Division One National Wrestling Tournament. • 6. Personal Statement On Team Rules 13. Team Rules I will determine most of the basic rules concerning GPA, being late to practice, and the consequences for not reaching the statistics base marks (number of points scored in a quarter, serving percentage, etc.) set before each game by the coaching staff. However, rules concerning what to wear on game days, whether team lunches are required, etc. I will leave up to my team to decide at the beginning of the season. I also believe that because they will be setting up these rules that they are also the ones responsible for the consequences as well. 14. Scholarships I want to be an extremely active coach concerning recruiting. As a coach, I would like to eventually coach at the collegiate level and having the ability to both network as well as produce players that are scholarship worthy is a way to portray my ability as a coach. As a coach, I want what is best for my players and I want them to truly love the sport. If they come to love the sport and would like to play on in college, I want them to be able to have that opportunity. I did not have any coaches that were active in helping me to know how to recruit myself. I think that if I would have had more information about recruiting then it would have benefitted me as an athlete. I will make sure that every freshman that comes into my program is aware of the NCAA Eligibility Center and how the recruiting process works regardless of whether I think they could play collegiately. As a coach, I will not know until ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Professional Athlete Controversy Professional sports have evolved into one of the most influential aspects of modern culture. The unscripted nature of competition, combined with larger than life figures, like Peyton Manning and Lebron James, has inevitably resulted in people looking towards sportspeople for guidance and inspiration. However, this unintended consequence is where the controversy surrounding professional athletes arises. With such a tremendous level of influence, recent scandals have caused people to question whether the social position of athletes somehow obligates them to behave in a manner that conveys a positive message to others. In other words, spectators, such as Bethany Withers of The New York Times, argue that the influential nature of being a star athlete... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In other words, she agrees with Golden that selective implementation, the act of choosing when and how to enforce league regulations, on the part of league officials has created an environment in which punishments are determined based on the "caliber of athlete" (par.5). However, Withers argues that regardless of what the league does to condone or neglect misconduct, at the end of the day unscrupulous athletes are responsible for their own actions and should henceforth be held accountable for the recurring violence that has plagued professional sports, as well as the negative influence they have on fans. To support this claim, she draws attention to the case of Aaron Hernandez, the New England Patriots tight end who found success in the NFL, despite of his consistent off–field drug usage and violent demeanor, before eventually being indicted on murder charges for the death of Odin Lloyd (par. 5). She argues that this type of repetitive criminal behavior is indicative of a sociopath and only succeeds in sending a negative message to today's youth. Therefore, she believes that in order to address this issue, individuals must recognize the level of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The general manager position is the captain of the ship as it puts together the team roster and has to make the executive decisions of trades and other financial transactions. The general manager also hires and fires the coaching staff. The only person the general manager answers to is the owner of the team. A general manager's success is determined by how well the team progressed throughout the season. A NBA general manager has to keep team morale up and make sure every player's needs and wants are met. • 9. How Have Gender Stereotypes Changed Over The Years The way people look at gender has changed quickly over the past few years. Gender has always been a social topic on what boys should do and what girls should do. The new generation of young adults seem to break the mold of gender stereotypes with effortless ease. I have seen many classmates and many schools changing the status quo of gender within the last few years. My generation has a different opinion on gender stereotypes than my grandparents and even my parents. Gender stereotypes are rapidly changing with each generation, whether it be through sports or the occupations people have. My Grandparents went to high school in the mid 1950's and women were not allowed to play many sports back then. My Grandma told me that they thought the girls would get hurt. My grandmother played basketball and they didn't let the girls cross the half court line. They had three girls on each side so that they did not over exert themselves. Nowadays, girls can play almost any sport they want. Hockey is a good example of how girls can play sports that are typically played by males. Most people think of hockey as an aggressive contact sport, similar to football or Rugby. There are so many girls now that play hockey with the same intensity and physicality as men. Afemale friend of mine who went to middle school with me, played on a travel hockey team. If you saw her, she would not be someone you would guess could be capable of playing an aggressive and physical sport like hockey. She always ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Recruitment And Selection Of The Leisure Industry The recruitment and selection of experienced, skilled and self–motivating employees for stability and longevity in leisure industry organisations. Abstract: Human resource management is the foundation to any organisation's success; it is its people who form an essential part of any organisation. The efficiency and quality of its people determines the organisations fate. Choosing the right people and placing them in the right positions is vital. This is where effective recruitment and selection is fundamental. This paper concludes that seven steps should be taken to implement recruitment and selection policies and guidelines which help to surpass performance results of the past. This paper analyses the gap of recruitment and selection of experienced, skilled and self–motivating employees for stability and longevity in leisure industry organisations. In addition, this paper focuses on a selected organisation within the leisure industry in Queensland Australia, City Venue Management (CVM). Introduction: People are an integral part of any organisation. No organisation can run without its human resources, its greatest asset. In today's highly complex and competitive market, choosing the right person in the right place has far reaching implications for an organisations functioning. • 12. South Korea Research Paper The sociocultural role of sport in the country, including any political implications South Korea loves sport, sport is not only a popular physical activity but is a significant social practice. Sport operates as an important cultural resource and produces and disseminates nationalism. Indeed, in recent years, south korea has shown competence in hosting, playing, and managing sport. South Korean athletes have created notable results at major international sport events. For example, since 1984, the national Summer Olympic team has unfailingly been ranked in the top 10 nations on the medal table, with the only exception being the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games. The country has also produced a number of major world sporting events, including hosting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This has had profound implications in the development of Korean society. Soon after the liberation from Japan in 1945, the peninsula was sectioned into two parts and 5 years later, civil war broke out in 1950. This war ended in 1953 without a peace treaty, which means the two countries still technically are at war. More than 50 years of division has influenced the culture and national opinions of the Korean people. The two Koreas see each other as political and military enemies, but they also see themselves as an ethnically homogenous nation. So there is a strong desire on both sides of the fence to reunify so that a unified Korean nation state can be created. The reunification of the nation is one of the largest political projects in both South and North Korea. This ethnic nationalism allows for occasional cooperation between the two countries such as North Korea and South Korea marching together for the 2000 Sydney Olympics, 2004 Athens Olympics and 2006 Turin Olympics. Sport in Korea has reflected these complicated relations. International competitions created a symbolic battlefield between the two countries, at least until the 1980s. North and South Korean governments invested heavily in developing skilled athletes and funded part of the development of high performance sport in order to win more medals in international games. • 13. Personality And Gender Essay Personality, Gender and their Relationship in a Kinesiology Program A person can be defined in many ways: sex, age, hair colour, weight, and most importantly personality. The personality of a person can be a determining factor of many areas of a person's life. Personality can be a predictor of whether a person likes or dislikes sports, how much schooling there will go through and what occupation a person may chose. There are many aspects to a person's personality and there are an numerous ways to determine a person's personality. One of the ways to determine an individual's personality is by using The Big Five Model, which began with the research of D.W Fiske (1949) followed by a numerous amount of other researchers: Norman (1967), Smith ... Including one study that suggested that one can determine vocational interests by using different personality tools and these "...alternative factors may provide direct indicators of individual's preference for certain vocational interests..." Furthermore, another study that was preformed was one in which researchers attempted "...to examine the prediction of career indecision using personality and vocational interests" (Burns, Morris, Rousseau & Taylor,2013 p.1). Additionally, the personality of a person literally affects every decision an individual makes and there have been many studies that support theories similar to this. For example, personality and gender can be used to predict grades, among other things, for first year post secondary students. There is a relationship between a few personality traits and the quality of effort put forth by a first year post secondary student. A personality trait like extroversion is significantly related to effort given by the student in social and academic activities and males are less agreeable than woman (Bauer& Liang, 2003, ... Athletes Should Not Be Paid Than Athletes "Professional athletes are making too much money in a society where salaries and wages are traditionally based on the value of ones work" ("Professional Athletes"). In today 's society, one is not actually paid more based on the economic importance of their occupation. Instead, those involved in the entertainment industry get paid larger salaries than those shaping the future. In the 1996 basketball season, Michael Jordan made 170,000 dollars a day, whereas an average teacher will only collect 40,000 dollars a year (Professional Athletes). • 15. Gender Aspects Of Gender The way people look at gender has been changing over the past few years. Gender has always been a social topic on what boys should do and what girls should do. Although, with the new generation, I have seen people break the mold of gender stereotypes. Over the years, I have seen many classmates and schools changing the status quo of gender. My generation has a different opinion on gender stereotypes than my grandparents and even my parents. Gender stereotypes are changing with each generation, whether it be through sports or the occupations people have. Hockey is a good example of how girls can play manlier sports. When people think of hockey, they think of it more as a manlier sport, like football. There are so many girls that play hockey with the same intensity as when men play. A good friend of mine, who went to the same middle school as me, played on a travel hockey team. If you saw her, you would never expect her to play hockey. She always wore dresses and has her hair done. She is not your typical hockey playing girl. After seeing her play in a game, my impression of her changed. She was very physical when going after other players with the puck. She would hit other players into the glass now and then. She could handle other players hitting her pretty hard as well. She got rocked by one player and just got back up on her skates and went back into the fray. Now, I believe she is the toughest girl I know. She completely breaks the mold of the small, frail, girl stereotype. Another example of girls playing a manlier sport would be football. I went to an all–boys catholic high school, and right next door to us was our sister school. Every year, the seniors and juniors would be allowed to compete in powder puff football. They would practice all summer and after school in September for a month. Some of the guys from our ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 16. Statement Of Purpose: A Career In The Athletic Field For as long as I can remember, my profession of choice has been an occupation in the healthcare field. My dad often reminisces on when I was three when he would ask me "What's your name?" I would reply with "Dr. Peppers." Well sixteen years later my dream of being a doctor no longer exists, however my goal to become one of the best athletic trainers in the country is burning with passion. Growing up I wanted to be several different occupations like a trauma nurse, an obstetrician, or a physical therapist, before realizing after two years of high school sports medicine that athletic training was my niche. In coming to better comprehend athletic training as a career, my experiences in my classes and clinical here at Winthrop along with my high school experience in sports medicine has shaped my understanding of the athletic training world. Two years ago on a crisp October afternoon following school, I walked to the training room expecting a normal day for us. There would be the tapping of ankles, wrist, and thumbs, along with rehabilitation exercises and the whines and complains of athletes who would sit in the whirlpool for various injuries. After changing into sports medicine attire and putting my books up I was asked to take a framed object next door to the athletic director's office. In "Athletes Stand As Role Models, Like It Or Not" Black sheds light on the tendency of star athletes to shape society's perception of right and wrong, and criticizes athletes for not promoting moral conduct. He argues that "young folk" are highly impressionable and that the influential nature of being a professional athlete obligates sportspeople to uphold a higher level of moral integrity than members of the general public (par. 3). According to Black, by putting sportspeople in a position to directly influence the ideology of fans, the media has inadvertently designated professional athletes as role models. As a result, he argues that athletes have a social obligation to conduct themselves in a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Nonetheless, this in no way obligates sportspeople to maintain an ethical lifestyle outside of sports. Just because athletes are promoted on television and media for their prowess in tackling or scoring touchdowns, doesn't mean that people should rely on them to establish their moral constructs. In other words, it is impractical to think that someone who excels at playing a sport automatically possesses the values and character required to positively mold the ideology of others. Yet, this is exactly the argument that Black attempts to make. By depicting professional athletes as role models, Black makes the inference that playing a sport is in some way virtuous. This post hoc ergo propter hoc argumentation is flawed because it promotes the idea that being a proficient athlete somehow qualifies someone as righteous. However, athletic ability in no way translates to the quality of an individual's value system. To highlight this issue, one can focus on the case of Tiger Woods, a professional golfer who was heavily criticized in 2009 when it became public that he had an affair (Falzone par. 4). Although Woods is considered to be one of the most talented golfers of al time, he leaves much to be desired in terms of character (Falzone par. 4). Consequently, it is unfair to discriminate against professional athletes, and to generalize their occupation as noble. Football has always been a big part of my life and teaching a kid the art of it and show them how a team becomes more like a family. Also as an athletic director it helps you get familiar with not only one sport but with a lot other teams in your school. I really love the feel of sport events just the energy it gives off you can feel the will to win and the determination in every kid. Sports can bring out the best and worst in people everybody have a mean streak when it comes time to play because everyone wants to win. Athletic directors have many jobs from helping in the classroom to getting sports events set up to helping with pep rallies. They're responsible for scheduling games, overseeing coaching staff, and organizing practices. While they are administrative like teachers they don't sit behind a desk they mostly seen getting things ready for the next game. Athletic directors are responsible for making sure each team have an even amount of practices scheduled before a game. As athletes use the directors as ways to set up things in college level or even the NFL for players to move on to better in their life. Babe Ruth replied to this question by saying "Well, I had a better year." For a while, athletes demanded and received salaries so out of proportion with an average salary. What makes modern times different is that professional sport players are pulling in an insane amount of money, compared to athletes that played the same sport in previous generations. Fifty years ago, only the outfielders who hit 40 homeruns would make a huge salary. Now, however, the normal infielder who comes in as a replacement three times a week makes ten times more than an average working man. In 1979 Nolan Ryan broke ground, he became the first athlete to receive a $1–million–a–year contract. I think that the contracts of professional athletes have gone unchecked for too long, and now athletes are one of the wealthiest people in our nation. What is the importance of having a mission statement in any sport program? There are many differences between interscholastic and recreational sports programs. The first big difference is the affect that school work and grades affect your participation. In a recreational sports program, they are not looking at your grades to see if you are doing well enough to continue to play. Whereas with interscholastic sports you must maintain a certain GPA, you are required to attended class, along with other stipulations that they may have from a program. An athletic director is responsible for making sure that students that are participating in the interscholastic events are maintaining the requirements that they must meet. With the recreational sports program the athletic director most likely hires someone to organize the events and that's about all the athletic does with recreational sports. Another difference between interscholastic and recreational is that some people who are participating in interscholastic sports are getting scholarships towards their education. In our culture different sports are considered to be male and female dominated respectively. Unfortunately little is done to challenge or resist these societal norms and I experienced this first hand during my senior year of high school. Volleyball, which is considered to be a sport primarily for girls and women, was not offered to boys at my high school. Subsequently, I was forced to petition for approval towards the creation of a male volleyball which ultimately went unsuccessful due to time constraints and unwillingness to help from staff and administration. While this example pertained to male exclusion countless female friends of mine struggled to participate in male–dominated sports throughout high school including wrestling and lacrosse. "Part of what schools are supposed to be doing under Title IX, and often are not doing, is regularly assessing girls ' interest, looking to see what sports girls are playing and asking girls what they want to play that is currently not being offered" (Wallace). In this instance my districts athletic director directly impacted the sporting experiences for the entire student body by failing to adhere to sufficient standards with respect to gender norms. I would want to make sure each athlete used their tutor to their advantage so they could be aware of what was going on in the classroom. • 38. Pro Athletes Overpaid Essay Over the years, pro–titled athletes' salaries have reached all new heights. These acclaimed athletes have been boosted onto pedestals for their athletic abilities, and their salaries are topping some of the more important roles in modern society. Even though pro–athletes are some of the world's most athletic in their fields of employment, their exuberant salaries are inexcusable when put next to the salaries of those partaking in more dangerous, sometimes even fatal lines of work. When looking at what an athlete does to earn this huge paycheck, we see that all they truly do is swing a bat or catch a ball. This is an insane amount of money to be making in just a year. You can take this amount and compare it to someone that is fighting a fire and saving a life. There is not even a close relation to those numbers. Without fire fighters, we probably would lose half of our country in the substantial wild fires that sweep our nation. As it is stated in the article, "Are Pro Athletes Paid Too Much?", theirsalary "is only about $47,000." Fire fighters risk their lives to ensure out safety when there is a fire. What does LeBron James do to help our nation? The point that is coming to the surface here is that there are many other professions in modern day society that deserve the payment that Mr. James is earning in a year. Look at the hospitals that help the citizens of our country. We have nurses that sometimes work 24 hour shifts and work tirelessly to help others. This is just another piece of evidence that proves there are harder working people that bring forth change and help to society. Stated in the article, "Are Pro Athletes Paid Too Much?", the president's salary is only $400,000 per year. The president is the big man behind our country and he brings in a quarter of what a man that runs a ball down the courts. This just shows how there is corruption in modern day ... • 39. Essay On Why College Athletes Should Not Be Paid Paying College Athletes is not a Solution. To pay, or not to pay? That is the question when discussing the proposal of collegiate athletes earning a salary for participating in sports programs. Collegiate sports programs thrive throughout the nation. A forefront in american culture, college sports bring in a multitude of money, attention, and prestige for the school represented. Crazed fans, proud alumni and every–day spectators are entertained each year by college athletes giving there all in the sport they love. These athletes are not given any money out of all the money raised and are often seen as used. Despite arguments towards collegiate athlete salary proposals, payment for playing collegiate sports should not be made a possibility because earning an education in itself reaps financial benefits, the recognition of the athletic department's roles displays flaws, and athletes are informed from the beginning what to expect out their scholarship as well as the system. Though many people find the leeching off of these devoted athletes to be a issue, paying these athletes is not the a possible solution to the problem. The idea of paying players for playing ... The American government does what they can to make success possible for the majority of citizens, yet over 46 million Americans are living in poverty. How can it be that the wealthiest nation in the world has so many people living in poverty? What is all of our money being put towards? While there are many good answers for this question, one is in the corrupt world of professional athlete salaries. The amount of money put into professional athletics is unbelievably too much. We have so many hardworking, underpaid Americans who deserve... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So it would make sense that these people deserve salaries that put them above everybody on the wealth scale. These people are required to spend a large amount of money and time to get where they are, so why do they make just a fraction of what athletes make? To be more specific, an average doctor has to work everyday for 76 years to make what professional boxer Floyd Mayweather makes in a single fight, even if he loses. A backup quarterback may never play a single snap in a game but he still will make three times as much as surgeon on average. If that isn't enough, how about the fact that in one week the Brooklyn Nets starting five players make just slightly less than all nine supreme court justices make in a year. There is no doubt that athletes do spend just as much time and money, if not more, as those who have professional occupations, but it all comes down to what each occupation group really does for the country. Our country simply could not function without people like Doctors, Surgeons, Engineers, and government officials, and while we may think we could not function without sports, we could. So why should a occupation that does nothing but entertain people make much more than the people that keep the country ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
