Minion Research Paper
The Minions have seemingly taken over the world – or at least every possible facet of advertising
known to man. From action figures and comic books to memes and Tic Tacs, you simply can't hide
from the infestation known as the Minion craze.
These loveable, jibber–jabbering yellow evildoers have literally run amok, and like so many
animated characters do – they've won the hearts of millions. But, that doesn't necessarily mean their
heightened popularity will lead to critical success (don't confuse critical with commercial – because
Minions are poised to dominate the box office).
So, can the Minions fill a full movie on their own – with Gru and the kids?
Directed by Pierre Coffin (Despicable Me, Despicable Me 2) & Kyle Balda, Minions stars – ...

They make landfall in New York City – which is where they eventually see an advertisement for
Villain Con, headlined by a potential new boss: the evil Scarlet Overkill (voiced by Sandra
Bullock).
Once in Orlando (the location of the Villain–Con), the trio manages to win the job as Scarlet's new
henchmen. Under the tutelage of Scarlet and her husband, Herb (Jon Hamm), she commands the
Minions to steal the crown of England's Queen Elizabeth II (Jennifer Saunders). But, in true Minion
fashion, a catastrophe becomes beneficial to them when they are unexpectedly put in charge of the
UK – to the chagrin of Scarlet.
Both Despicable Me, and its sequel, Despicable Me 2, were global sensations for Illumination
Entertainment – amassing a combined box office payday of $1.5 billion (home video releases not
included). In essence, those small, yellow trouser bearers have become a vital ingredient to one of
the most dominant animated franchises that's not under the Disney umbrella. And, with that said –
of course it was only a matter of time before they were given their own solo

Despicable Me Evaluation
Despicable Me Evaluation Essay
The most dark, evil, and twisted individual does not always stay the "bad guy" and can sometimes
have a heart of gold deep down inside. It has been proven by character, Felonius Gru in the movie
Despicable Me. It is an American 3–D animated children's movie released in July 2010 (Whitlock,
2013). In the film, Gru is portrayed as a selfish villain focused on taking fun and happiness out of
everyone's lives. Against his mother's wishes, his childhood dream has been to steal the moon. With
the help of Gru's yellow minion workers, high–tech gadgets and vehicles nothing will stand in his
way of accomplishing the most heinous crime ever, including another villain. During a moment of
defeat, Gru adopts three orphaned girls to bring down the defense of his opponent. While using
them for self–gain, the girls tug at Gru's ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The minions are fun to look at because they are bright yellow, cheerful, playful, have lots of energy,
and they do not look identical but are similar, for instance, their eyes. Sometimes the minions are
easy to understand but mostly they communicate through action and laughter at each other. The
minions cause trouble and annoy each other as children would do like pulling the others glasses so it
would snap back hard against their face, clumsily shooting a gun into a crowd of other minions, and
hysterically laughing at a meaningless object. Also, the three girls, Agnes, Margo, and Edith are
relatable to children because their actions and language are similar to the ages of children that are
most likely going to be sitting in the movie theater. And they clearly wanted what most children
want from their parents: love and support. For example, Gru missed their first dance recital but
made up for it by showing his support for their second

High Technology Manufacturing Firm Help Relocate Their...
In the early nineties I was recruited by a high technology manufacturing firm to help relocate their
operations from Southern California to their new home in Southern Oregon. The owner of the
company had a young son that was approaching school age and he and his wife didn't want the child
growing up in an environment they believed was deteriorating due to population growth, gang
violence, and the high cost of living. I was involved in the setup of manufacturing equipment and
inventory on the Oregon side, and after a couple of weeks we were in a position where the company
could begin production and start fulfilling order commitments. The position I held was temporary
and upon completion of the move I expected I would make my departure, ... Show more content on

I was given more responsibilities to include company travel to purchase new equipment, the training
of new employees, and the development of new materials for organizations such as Boeing, NASA
and JPL. The company was small and close knit and we all knew each other's family members. The
owner of the company was very generous and we all received handsome Christmas bonuses
dependent on company performance. It also wasn't uncommon to open your pay envelope during the
year to find an additional bonus check.
During the holidays my wife and I would attend 5–6 holiday social functions. I remember at one of
these functions explaining to a guest who worked for the Harry and David Corporation that I
worked for a small company. She told me that that could be a good thing or a bad thing. I assured
her it was a good thing, and I remember thinking at the time, how could it be a bad thing? I didn't
have too long to wait before I would be presented with an example.
The owner of the company's son was getting older and he was very involved in his son's activities.
He truly was a wonderful father. He also began to spend more and more time developing a vineyard
on his property and became involved in a lengthy litigation over an easement on this property which
took its toll on his health which culminated in a cardiac event in his early 50's. The owner recovered
and via some small lifestyle changes was expected to live to full life

Leading Change Is Never Easy
Leading change is never easy. Many individuals want to reach their goals fast, but the process of
change takes time. It needs patience, persistence and learning from mistakes (Marhánková, 2010).
The centre for the aging needs a change in the activities that take place. Currently, the events that
are scheduled in the center are not serving the purpose they should. The members feel that they do
not personally associate with the events like bingo, trivia, and reading the newspaper. The
individuals need to have a sense of belonging, and the right activities will help them with their
socialization. As the director of activities, I have developed a vision statement for the change that I
want to implement in the center. The vision statement is; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

There needs to be a variety of activities and not just the three that are currently being offered. The
range gives the members an array of activities to choose from, and they can go for one they love and
not just engage in an activity because it is the only one available. The staff members will have an
easier job because the patron will be occupied and happy with the new events, which means that the
staff is not so engrossed in what is happening with the patrons.
The theories of aging especially disengagement, modernization, and activity theories emphasize on
the importance of the social aspect in those who are aging (Charles, & Carstensen, 2010). The
members have had to change their lives and have lost some roles they used to undertake especially
now that they are at the center. Provision of other social activities means that the individuals can get
a replacement for the roles they have lost by being away from their homes and families (Jin, 2010).
These activities will help establish a positive sense of self because they feel useful, and it usually
matters to them that they can still engage in such activities. The change will ensure that the seniors
are able to develop a positive self–concept because they will feel useful. The change will also help
them develop a sense of belonging because they will be engaging in an activity of their choice,
which means it is something they love doing. They will also socialize with each

Persuasive Speech : Ophelia, By Bob And Jay 's Bed And...
We all sat around the dining table in Bob and Jay's bed and breakfast, waiting for Ophelia to show
up so we could get our meeting started. These weekly meetings had switched to twice per month
now that we're in the summer season and everybody has more guests to deal with. I was in a great
mood and wanted to share some happy news with the group. Ophelia showed up five minutes late,
not bothering to apologize for her tardiness, and asked Bob to get her a glass of water. She then sat
at the head of the table, in the same seat Bob had just got up from, and unpacked her pen and
notebook from her bag. When Bob came in, he made a quizzical face to nobody in particular, then
place the glass of water in front of Ophelia before seating himself at another chair. We started the
meeting with Ophelia scolding us about our low reservation rates. I happened to know from others
in the B&B industry that all of us were doing better than average. Nobody expects a B&B to be
100% occupied every day of the year. Even hotels and airplanes don't get 100% bookings all the
time. But Ophelia informed us that Molly expects 80–90% occupancy for the B&Bs that DoGeti is
invested in. "How do you suggest we accomplish such an astronomical number?" Jay asked. It was
hard to tell if he was being sarcastic, since his voice was usually a dry drawl, the same as now. "You
will need to increase your marketing." Ophelia said. She crossed her hands in front of her on the
table and stated this in a

Gru Of Universal's Despicable Me
Claim:
Gru of Universal's Despicable Me belongs in Circle 8, Bolgia 7 where reptiles eternally punish the
equally reptilian thieves.
Data:
In response to recent robbery of the Great Pyramid of Giza, Gru mentions how they "stole the Statue
of Liberty...[and] the Eiffel Tower" earlier that year (Despicable Me).
Warrant:
Gru is so attached to thievery and criminal enterprise that when someone more successful arises, he
feels the need to re–affirm his self worth by reminding himself and his cronies of the various
robberies they have conducted, especially replicas in Las Vegas. The replicas are also significant in
that they were unable to steal the real versions because they are simply imitators of real world–class
thieves stealing legitimate, iconic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Similar to how Cleopatra killed herself (but since the ulterior motive was her love for Antony, she
was placed in Circle 2), Gru certainly exhibits wrathful behavior, but his actions go only so far as to
support his main sin of thievery. This aligns with Dante's view of the Inferno where each character
is placed in only one circle with the greater influence on his or her life and decisions. Moreover,
since Dante believes in sins aligning with the intent of the sinner, it makes sense that Gru, who has
spent his whole life stealing, is punished for his sins as a thief and not as a wrathful individual since
his intent was to be a super–villain and not a furious sinner. His thievery enabled him to be wrathful,
not the other way around, so his intent remains with Circle 8 and thievery. While Gru certainly earns
some retribution by opening his heart to the love of the children, especially when he said "I love you
too" to Margo near the end, he would still go to Hell because he is still an active thief who denies
the grace and love of God (Despicable Me). Hence, since he denies the grace of God, he would for
sure be lower than Circle 6 and into the area of the Inferno of the Sins of Lion, which are sins of
violence and ambition and would not be in the sins of incontinence (which are the first half of the
Inferno). Dante specifies how "Malice is the sin most hated by God" because those who commit
those sins do so willingly and without the love of Divine Illumination (Alighieri 11.22). Gru, even
with the intent to support his family that he cares for so generously, is sure to be punished in Circle
8 for committing such acts of malice against

What Happens When Relationship Building Strategies Do Not...
Relationship Building
When in a leadership position, building relationships is an important aspect. These relationships
create a network that can be used in times of need, creating change, and increase overall confidence
between yourself and your peers, clients, leaders, and subordinates. Throughout this week's reading
we learned about the many relationship building strategies. This journal will outline my relationship
building strategies, both within and outside work situations, and what happens when my strategies
do not work.
Relationship Building
Relationship building is something that a political navigator has no trouble doing. They know which
people to talk to, which to avoid, and which will do them favors and help them throughout ... Show

As a new leader these strategies are ones that I will have to work on before I fully employ them.
Two of these strategies that would work best with me are developing mutual interests with clients
and becoming a collaborator (Gilley, 2006). Developing interests with clients allows me to ask open
ended questions that help to search for common interests. These interests help build rapport, which
can help me develop new ideas or improvements for the organization. Becoming a collaborator
includes tailoring interactions to the audience (Gilley, 2006). I am constantly doing this because not
everyone is going to react the same way, want the same information, or care about the subject.
When common interests are found the relationship and interaction between myself and others will
become more productive or meaningful.
Outside Situations
All of these strategies can be used outside of work as well. This, I believe, is because humans need
interactions and relationships to be happy. One does not have to be cut and dry at all times. It is
finding a balance between professionalism and normalcy. Understanding the common interest
between yourself and those around you, will help to increase the quality of time being spent with
others. While one does not need to be politically savvy around their non–work friends, it can
improve their thoughts toward you and your family. Observing your

Super-Friendly Humor In Ken Daurio's Despicable Me
Despicable Me is a kid and adult friendly comedy that will draw you in from the very first scene
involving a bratty kid and the pyramids in Egypt. Throughout the script you will find yourself
chuckling at the yellow characters, also known as the minions, and their hilarious nonsense
behavior. This screen play is filled with child friendly humor that most adults would also be
entertained by.
The plot of Despicable Me focuses around the eventful life of Gru, a not so successful super–villain,
who adopts three girls and then uses them to help him out do his rival Vector. With the girls help
Gru plans to shrink and steal the moon. (Daurio) This is an interesting plot, with a amusing climax
scene, that keeps the reader involved and entertained. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One thing that could have been improved is the many unfilmable things, like a characters thoughts,
that do not belong in the screenplay. (Url) These things should be shown through the actions of the
characters. For example instead of just writing what the character is thinking something, which
leaves room for the reader's imagination to wonder what is going on with the character, tell exactly
what expressions need to be on the characters face and have a dialogue that contributes to that also.
There are several times throughout the screen play that this happens. Other than the few times that
this mistake was made I feel as if the screen play was well written and Daurio made vigilant efforts
to make sure that these mistakes were not made often. There is plenty of white space throughout the
screen play which is one thing that helped tremendously in the contribution to Despicable Me being
such a relaxed read. Every paragraph of action was contained to three lines or less which Kelms,
author of How to Write a Script article, made out to be a crucial part of keeping a readers interest.
This ensures that you don't over write and leave a reader bored. (Kelms)
Daurio did a tremendous job when it came to getting the story across without taking up to much
time. The screen play got right to it and was not bogged down with details that would serve no
purpose in the

Changing A Little At A Time
Chapter 3: Changing a Little at a Time (Make a Difference)
If you won a million dollars what would you do? This is a common question people often ask. The
common response is going on vacation, buy a nice car, etc. But we often hear the response of giving
to charity and making a difference in the world. I am the same way. If I had a million dollars I
would want to make a difference in the world and give a lot of it to charity. The reality of me
winning a million dollars is extremely slim. However, I can still accomplish my goal, to make a
difference, no matter how much money I have. I have decided that in my own community I can
make a difference with those in poverty, disabilities, and other issues that may arise.

High School graduation finally rolled around. I had enough money saved up to spend 16 weeks in
Costa Rica giving to their community. My first goal on my bucket list was about to get crossed off.
And then I met a handsome young man that swept me off my feet. I was in a big dilemma. I could
either spend four months in Costa Rica and accomplish my dream of making a difference in a
foreign country, or I could get married to the man of my dreams. It was a very hard decision to
make. It brought me many sleepless nights, and in the end, I knew I needed to marry this boy and
use the money I had saved up for Costa Rica to help with wedding and future plans. It was
devastating. But it was eye opening. From that moment on, I knew I didn't need to go to some
foreign land to make a difference, I could stay right here in my own community and make just as
big of a difference. There are children here who don't have shoes to wear or food to eat. Some don't
even have homes. Right in our own back yard we are seeing poverty.
I have done, and am doing, several things now that I feel like are making a difference. For instance,
I am currently working with Cache County Extensions. A big difference that I see is making a
difference in the Latino community. We teach workshops on finances and nutrition to these
individuals. It is amazing to see the attitude of the people we help, especially in the financial
workshop. You see some of these

CHAPTER ONE
A NEW BEGINNING
Sweat dripped down my face. The bruises on my back and sides throbbed, my broken ribs screamed
in agony. Every breath was a tiny battle, every inhale and exhale evokes a gurgly rattle and a
racking cough. All of this pain could be gone with one choice. A single sentence would take away
all my bruises, heal my broken bones, even restore my lame leg that I was born with. One sentence.
"I.... I g–grant permission!" I cried, gasping, shoving every last ounce of my strength into those
words. Tears were running down my face as pain overwhelmed me at last, and my world faded into
a blissful state of nothingness.

Belonging Practise Essay Madagascar and Despicable Me 19/20
Despicable Me and Madagascar Comparative Essay To acquire a sense of belonging within our
modern paradigm, one must be able to identify themselves in their surrounding environment that
will habitually strengthen the relationships with the people in our society. Through Pierre Coffin's
film Despicable Me and the film Madagascar by Eric Darnell, and Tom McGrath we as the
contemporary audience learn and realise the importance of acceptance which consolidate our
relationships, experiences with our friends and family, and most importantly our selves.

When Vector threatens the lives of the children for the possession of the moon, Gru is able to truly
understand his feelings and discovers that the girls genuinely belong with him. In light with this, the
animals in Madagascar are finally able to return home after experiencing all the hardships of living
on an island that is uninhabited by human beings. These animals didn't feel as if they belonged on
that island at all, but through the hardships they endured together and experiences they tackled
through, they were able to reconcile with their friends and learn from their mistakes. Therefore is it
evident that, acceptance of one's true feelings, relationships that are true and meaningful, and
experiences that make us realise our mistakes, are all important in building our understanding of
someone, and that understanding will nourish our sense of belonging. For Gru, it was understanding
his true feelings of wanting to be with the three children, and for the animals from Madagascar, it
was the sense of wanting to belong to a wild habitat, but at the same time wishing they were living
their own domesticated lifestyles. These texts both illustrate to us how understanding, can nourish

Adaptations Are Much More Than A Mere Visual Illustration
Contrary to the general public's belief, adaptations are much more than a mere visual illustration of
a novel. When adapting a literary work, the screenwriter's integrity towards the author is highly
crucial to prevent a disagreement, which could lead to a copyright infringement. This will also
ensure the audience's approval because the screenplay's plot is less likely to deviate from the author
's fundamental storyline in the original work. Furthermore, adapting a literary work into a

is made apparent that he has quite a significant amount of personal growth to acquire. In the start of
the movie, Gordie Lachance is a timid twelve–year–old aspiring writer struggling with
psychological abuse from his father, low self–esteem and emotional abuse by Ace the town bully.
Furthermore, due to the recent tragic death of his elder brother, Gordie is unable to mourn this loss
and overcome his personal regrets, such as his lack of desire to follow in his brother's footsteps.
Thus, he remains pessimistic about his aspirations, and substantially allows his own dreams of
becoming a writer to fester. However, the trials that he faces throughout the journey, after taking the
decision to ignore his father's authority, allows him to overcome the harsh pessimistic views that he
has of himself. Towards the end of the movie, there is a noticeable growth that can be seen in
Gordie's personality. Gordie finally realizes that solely he can control his own destiny and as he
begins to process his newly gained optimism, he is able to gain courage and maturity, which
conveys a clear sense of progress in the protagonist's personal journey. Thus, allowing him to stand

Technology As An Aid For School And Recreational Use
Technology can be looked at in many ways; in fact as it grows, so do the possibilities. In today's
society it is generally all about posting every moment of everyone's life. It only takes a second to
post that hilarious cat video that thousands of people will watch hundreds of times. A life without it
would seem boring due to the new infatuation of sharing and tagging anything. Although this is the

My mother, Dawn, has a job where technology is an aid to help make each and everyday successful.

once we end the protest I realized that they had burned the car in which I was moving and that I had

to utilize the tools of keywords and search limiters to assist my searches in the Northcentral Library

more friends and even joined the cheerleading squad. Sarah expressed that her parents (particularly
her father) saw this change in Sarah's self–confidence and began calling her the "self–absorbed
child". Her parents and soon after, her siblings, would say that Sarah was too into herself, and only
cared to be involved in a conversation or activity if it related to her in some way. This feeling that
her family gave her trickled into her adult life and has had an effect on the way she feels about her
parenting style and her job. Sarah expressed to me that she often lacks confidence when it comes to
parenting because of how her parent's perceived her confidence growing up. She feels as though she
can't make any mistakes for fear of judgment from her child one day. She also says she is afraid she
is going to get fired because her boss expressed to her that she lacks creativity in the office and does
not express her ideas as often as she should. She fears that if she is more confident in her position,

A Virtual Team Between Uber Drivers
Context Uber is a company that I personally admire. It is such a great smart idea to have people
around the world driving other people, and the company just receives the money by controlling all
virtually. I like to use Uber when I travel, it is a reliable service, and it saves me money and time.
After developing this report, I expect to learn more about the company itself, how efficient the
company manage its operations. How the drivers are hired, it is all virtually? How the drivers
communicate with other Uber drivers? I believe it has to be a virtual team between Uber drivers.
Also, I would like to learn what the company problems are when managing it operations efficiencies
using multi–cultural virtual teams. This report will help me to understand the importance of muti–
cultural virtual team improving operational efficiency in a company, and in the future to use my
skills to work effectively with multi–cultural virtual teams.
Introduction Uber operates through a mobile app, where people need to create an account, and a
debit or credit card is required to make the payment. The app allows the consumers to request a trip;
then, the software automatically sends a message to the nearest driver around with the location of
the consumer. The drivers use their own personal cars. The application software calculates the fare
trip, and then transfer the money to the Uber driver. Uber is located around 66 countries in the
world. The company operates, leads, organize, and manage

Student Success Course For College
Final Culminating Paper In reviewing the many take–aways I have had from doing this student
success course to hopefully become a well rounded student. The greatest take away was the
strategies and tools I learned to help me succeed in life and in college as they were essential skills I
lacked as a student. Helping me to build effective ways to get good grades in my other classes by
building effective study habits then ineffective study habits I have been using previously. Thus I

them. Which pushes me to take the necessary steps to achieving my goal of being a veterinarian in
pursuing my degree. In taking this course I was able to find my interest and an understanding of my
values I never knew before in depth. As to why I hold these values important and how they attribute
to my career as past reflections and discussions about my values in relation to career as they help
guide me to do what I love with added benefits.
Along with this we learned about money management, and how to live within our means as a

budgeting can make a difference for a student especially for my financial outlook. Being a college

The Ten Bsw Program Competencies Help Student Students...
The ten BSW program competencies help BSW students analyze and evaluate professional
development. These ten competencies help social work students learn and integrate the NASW
Code of Ethics into the classroom and field. The first competency based on identifying as a
professional social worker requires constant self– reflection to ensure the NASW Code of Ethics are
being followed, and to continue to develop as a professional. I consider self–reflection to be strength
of mine as I log each day, and analyze each part to evaluate my strengths and weaknesses. From my
log, I know what areas I need to work on and be conscientious of. As a student new to the social
work field I find professional boundaries to be a great weakness of mine. I find myself in a sort of
gray area as a student intern, since I am not quite a social worker but I am more than a student. This
gray area creates a dynamic which makes setting boundaries and knowing my role more difficult. I
have not found myself in a serious ethical dilemma so far in my career. I would identify this as my
greatest weakness at this time because I have not had to walk through an ethical dilemma and
therefore am unsure how I would manage. I can be quite passionate, and have strong morals and
values which could pose problems for me down the road. I would find my supervisor to be a great
asset when I do find myself in an ethical dilemma. I believe I would be capable of walking through
an ethical dilemma with supervision and

Integrity In Despicable Me
How would you live a life with no family, but a whole lot of problems? Increased tension and stress
would eat up your mind. Being close with your family is one of the easiest way to overcome any
obstacle that may come your way. Living a life full of problems that seem problems can be
described by the life of Gru, a villain from the prevailing film, Despicable Me. His family is made
up of extremely unique people, including the adorable minions, Dr. Nefario, the crazy scientist, an
unmotivated mother and three adopted girls– Margo, Edith, and Agnes. Gru bonded with each one
of his family members resulting in their family members feeling compassionate to help Gru out in
any situation. They were always Gru's back up in times of need. Having a ... Show more content on

Going through a lot of struggles to put some progress on his moon mission, Gru is surprised by the
news of the bank manager, Mr. Perkins. Mr. Perkins provides Gru with the necessary money to put
all his experiments in action, and he is the source of the minions' payment. Repeatedly being asked
for money by Gru, Mr. Perkins cuts off his relationship with Gru as he sees no progress. Gru has to
break the news to the minions, as he says, " Now, I know there have been some rumors going
around that the bank is no longer funding us... In terms of money, we have no money. So how will
we get to the moon... We won't..." Instead of looking for other job opportunities, the minions stay
loyal to Gru's mission and don't give up even though Gru has given up. Margo, Edith, and Agnes
walk in while Gru is talking and Agnes pulls him over to the side and shows Gru her piggy bank.
Inside there is nothing but three coins, which wouldn't do much. However, the three coins motivate
the minions to donate their personal belongings to Gru like watches, and sofas lying in their lair.
The stack of items rapidly increases as they now have enough money to fund their project. Just to

The Design Of Roman Aqueducts
The Design of Roman Aqueducts: Pont du Gard
Roman structures dominated the Roman values and power across the landscape of Europe. Many of
these structures, especially the aqueducts, show significant evidence of the Roman architecture and
engineering superiority. Not only that their structures are highly durable, standing monumentally
over thousands of years, the cleverness in the design of their water distribution system is an
achievement to be mesmerized, considering the 200 million gallons of water being supplied daily to
the city of Rome herself by the early 4th century AD . This essay will investigate Pont du Gard as
one of the most magnificent members of the Roman aqueducts, in regard to its design processes,
along with the technological issues in relation to the aqueduct design.
Pont du Gard functioned as an aqueduct bridge, a portion of the Nimes Aqueduct, delivering the
majority of the water supply to the city of Nemausus (Nimes, France), an important colonial city of
Rome. Its unarguably remarkable size, being over 49 m tall, makes it the biggest bridge the Roman
engineers had ever constructed, only a metre shorter than the Colosseum, and it is still standing until
today. Another important feature of this aqueduct is the maintenance of the gradient over the
distance of 50 km. The gradient over the whole course of the aqueduct is only a mere 0.034 percent
and the actual gradient on the section downstream of Pont du Gard is no more than 7 mm per 100 m.

Bananas. The one item every minion wants. These adorable, yellow, Tic Tac–like creatures depicted
in the hit movies Despicable Me, Despicable Me 2, and Minions work hard and don't expect much

says that "minions stand for every ideal that America was built on" (Kevin 53). The problem is that
minions only work for villains with nefarious plans of taking over the world. In American society,
studies found that "99% of the people feel like henchmen to the biggest companies in all sectors of
society, from Walmart to Wall Street" (Bob 17). The relationship between the minions and villains
bears many similarities to the modern economic and political system of America. The Despicable

Problems With A Hard Disk Drive Space Essay
If you have been online for any length of time you have run into a few basic computer problems. If
you are like me you do a search on your favorite search engine for the solution to the problem. This
article gives you some simple fixes to common problems computer users run into online. Problem
#1 One problem I run into often is that my computer will occasionally start to run really slow. There
are many reasons this may occur including a hard disk drive which is running short on available
disk space, bad files left from software programs that have been installed or uninstalled, corrupt
data, missing Windows updates or outdated drivers, a computer that is overheating because of a
problem with the fan, corrupt OS, or simply bad Hardware. The solution to a slow running computer
is based on which of the above reasons can be attributed to the problem. To free up hard disk drive
space you can take a few steps to free up space. You should have between 200 and 500MB of free
hard disk drive space on your computer to accommodate swap files and temporary files. To free up
space run "Disk Cleanup", uninstall old programs or games that you no longer use. If you are
running Windows XP or Vista you can disable System Restore, disable hibernation or delete
temporary files. Running Scandisk can insure that there is nothing physically wrong with the hard
disk drive and running Defrag will make sure that the data is arranged in the best possible order. You

The True Meaning Of Being Happy
What is happiness? What does it mean to be happy? Is happiness real? These questions are the most
frequently asked questions that most people ask themselves. By definition, being happy is when
something is feeling or showing pleasure or contentment. But, what is the true meaning of being
happy? Many people view happiness in many different aspects. Pharrell Williams's song "Happy"
did just that. It tells people that they don't have to seek hard to be happy. It is within one's self.
Unlike most songs, there is no hidden message. The message is very clear. It is about maintaining a
positive state of mind despite how bad and sometimes heartbreaking events in life can be. When you

But Pharrell's "Happy" doesn't fall into that trap. It's an exuberant song about feeling the
possibilities in a pure, natural, and limitless state. Now, let's take a deeper look into his lyrics. The
song's first lyrics through us in a whirlpool as he begins with "It might seem crazy what I 'm about
to say. Sunshine she 's here, you can take away. I 'm a hot air balloon, I could go to space. With the
air, like I don 't care baby by the way." Pharrell wants the listener to know how he might be crazy
but he doesn't care what you think about him. He's just going to be weird when it comes to telling
you how he feels. Next, the chorus begins with the lines "Clap along if you feel like a room without
a roof, Clap along if you feel like happiness is the truth. Clap along if you know what happiness is
to you, Clap along if you feel like that's what you wanna do." Here, Pharrell's narrator is to remind
the listener to continue to be happy no matter what. Also, you have no limits so live it up. What's
happiness if you're going to experience it with limitations? Now, we've reached the second verse.
Pharrell continues to give us more tips on staying happy. "Here come bad news talking this and that,
yeah. Well, give me all you got, and don't hold back, yeah. Well, I should probably warn you I'll be
just fine, yeah. No offense to you, don't waste your time. Here's why." In these particular lyrics, he

People, Places, and Events Reflection
I attended a student organization and development workshop series which was held on February 4,
2014 at Russell union. The topic for the workshop series was "Building an Exclusive Campus" and
the speaker was Paul Bradley, a worker at the student activities office. This series scheduled to start
at 7:00p.m. but it was started some minutes after seven due the lateness of the attendees. I attended
this program because I thought it would help me learn about the different organizations on campus,
and how to network through socialization which would help me to easily transition from college
into medical school and blend with the others without feeling any different. Thus, to be able to make
new friends, get to know people first before judging them, and last but not the least, learn of the
many organizations and the important role I can play in them if I become a member to promote the
organizations purpose existence. The speaker talked about how to promote an organization by
making it open to everyone and not limiting it to a certain group of race, color, religion, gender and
so on. By attending this sold series, I learned about how we easily stereotype a person or a group of
individuals whom we have never spoken to but easily judge them because of their color, race, or
background. The knowledge that I acquired at this event will help me to understand people and their
actions especially my patients five years from now when I get into medical school and start working

I plan on earning my Master's Degree within a year of Graduation. While I am currently in school, I
will rely on my instructors, academic counselors, graduation team, the GCU Online Library, and the
school's other resources that will give me additional help when I need them. If I feel lost or a subject
seems too difficult, then I will ask e–mail my instructors and let he or she know that I am having
difficulty and that I need help. If I am feeling overwhelmed about school, I will seek the help and
advice of my academic counselor to help me come up with a solution to help me feel relaxed and
not stressed with taking online classes. I know that I will be successful if I always ask and seek help

After all of this being said, I believe that I am a D1 in the development level, which is "The

Looking For Books For Business Classes
I went to the school store to buy books and I approached one of the student sellers and asked for
help. She first asked me how she could help me. I then told her I was looking for books for business
classes, so she directed me to the business section of the store. She then asked me what the CRN
was. I told her the CRN and she found the book. She then asked if I was buying the book today, but
I could not buy the book because it was more expensive than I thought. I told her not today because
of that reason. She then gave me the alternate option, which was to buy the book online for a
cheaper price. So I listened to her advice and brought the book online. This to me was a great
interaction because she didn't let me leave without knowing all my options, she answer all of my
questions, and helped me right away when I approached her. She used most of the selling sequence.
Today I went to Walmart to buy a laptop fan because I notice my laptop overheated a lot. I went to
the electronic section and I was approached by a man and his name tag said Larry. He first asked
"how can I help you today?" He was very friendly and knowledgeable about the product I was
asking for. He asked me the price range I was looking to buy in, and the size and brand of my
computer. I told him and he suggested a laptop fan that is ran by just plugging into the laptop USB
port. He suggested the "Tripp Lite NC2003SR Laptop Cooling Pad with 2 Built–In USB–Powered
Fans". He said since my laptop was bigger I

Bless Me, Ultima By Rudolfo Anaya
When we think of childhood we think of blissful, exhilarating moments, like being pushed on a
swing higher and higher feeling as if you could stretch your hand and grasp the clouds, as you
experience the cooling air of a hot summer day on your blushed face, as you yelped to be pushed
further into the clouds. We do not think of the anguish and questions that the sight of death brings.
But that's exactly what happens to six year old Antonio Marez in the novel Bless Me, Ultima by
Rudolfo Anaya. When young Antonio witnesses the death of a local War Veteran, a family friend,
and a classmate, it leaves him with transforming effects, prompting him to question death, sin,
morality, and in the end leading him to be ambivalent towards his Catholic beliefs. Through every
mortifying act that he witnesses, he has the guidance of Ultima, an elderly "curandera," healer, who
uses her wisdom to lead Antonio to answer his own questions.
Antonio's questions about good vs evil begin when he first foreshadows that his innocence and
peace would be shattered and everything in his life would change forever. He foresees a new period
of difficulty and conflict that parallels his transition away from childish innocence and towards
becoming a "man of learning." "But the innocence which our isolation sheltered could not last
forever, and the affairs of the town began to reach across our bridge and enter my life." (15). The
beginning of his transition comes when Jason's father, Chavez comes to the

Minion Research Paper

  • 1. Minion Research Paper The Minions have seemingly taken over the world – or at least every possible facet of advertising known to man. From action figures and comic books to memes and Tic Tacs, you simply can't hide from the infestation known as the Minion craze. These loveable, jibber–jabbering yellow evildoers have literally run amok, and like so many animated characters do – they've won the hearts of millions. But, that doesn't necessarily mean their heightened popularity will lead to critical success (don't confuse critical with commercial – because Minions are poised to dominate the box office). So, can the Minions fill a full movie on their own – with Gru and the kids? Directed by Pierre Coffin (Despicable Me, Despicable Me 2) & Kyle Balda, Minions stars – ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They make landfall in New York City – which is where they eventually see an advertisement for Villain Con, headlined by a potential new boss: the evil Scarlet Overkill (voiced by Sandra Bullock). Once in Orlando (the location of the Villain–Con), the trio manages to win the job as Scarlet's new henchmen. Under the tutelage of Scarlet and her husband, Herb (Jon Hamm), she commands the Minions to steal the crown of England's Queen Elizabeth II (Jennifer Saunders). But, in true Minion fashion, a catastrophe becomes beneficial to them when they are unexpectedly put in charge of the UK – to the chagrin of Scarlet. Both Despicable Me, and its sequel, Despicable Me 2, were global sensations for Illumination Entertainment – amassing a combined box office payday of $1.5 billion (home video releases not included). In essence, those small, yellow trouser bearers have become a vital ingredient to one of the most dominant animated franchises that's not under the Disney umbrella. And, with that said – of course it was only a matter of time before they were given their own solo ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Despicable Me Evaluation Despicable Me Evaluation Essay The most dark, evil, and twisted individual does not always stay the "bad guy" and can sometimes have a heart of gold deep down inside. It has been proven by character, Felonius Gru in the movie Despicable Me. It is an American 3–D animated children's movie released in July 2010 (Whitlock, 2013). In the film, Gru is portrayed as a selfish villain focused on taking fun and happiness out of everyone's lives. Against his mother's wishes, his childhood dream has been to steal the moon. With the help of Gru's yellow minion workers, high–tech gadgets and vehicles nothing will stand in his way of accomplishing the most heinous crime ever, including another villain. During a moment of defeat, Gru adopts three orphaned girls to bring down the defense of his opponent. While using them for self–gain, the girls tug at Gru's ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The minions are fun to look at because they are bright yellow, cheerful, playful, have lots of energy, and they do not look identical but are similar, for instance, their eyes. Sometimes the minions are easy to understand but mostly they communicate through action and laughter at each other. The minions cause trouble and annoy each other as children would do like pulling the others glasses so it would snap back hard against their face, clumsily shooting a gun into a crowd of other minions, and hysterically laughing at a meaningless object. Also, the three girls, Agnes, Margo, and Edith are relatable to children because their actions and language are similar to the ages of children that are most likely going to be sitting in the movie theater. And they clearly wanted what most children want from their parents: love and support. For example, Gru missed their first dance recital but made up for it by showing his support for their second ... • 3. High Technology Manufacturing Firm Help Relocate Their... In the early nineties I was recruited by a high technology manufacturing firm to help relocate their operations from Southern California to their new home in Southern Oregon. The owner of the company had a young son that was approaching school age and he and his wife didn't want the child growing up in an environment they believed was deteriorating due to population growth, gang violence, and the high cost of living. I was involved in the setup of manufacturing equipment and inventory on the Oregon side, and after a couple of weeks we were in a position where the company could begin production and start fulfilling order commitments. The position I held was temporary and upon completion of the move I expected I would make my departure, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I was given more responsibilities to include company travel to purchase new equipment, the training of new employees, and the development of new materials for organizations such as Boeing, NASA and JPL. The company was small and close knit and we all knew each other's family members. The owner of the company was very generous and we all received handsome Christmas bonuses dependent on company performance. It also wasn't uncommon to open your pay envelope during the year to find an additional bonus check. During the holidays my wife and I would attend 5–6 holiday social functions. I remember at one of these functions explaining to a guest who worked for the Harry and David Corporation that I worked for a small company. She told me that that could be a good thing or a bad thing. I assured her it was a good thing, and I remember thinking at the time, how could it be a bad thing? I didn't have too long to wait before I would be presented with an example. The owner of the company's son was getting older and he was very involved in his son's activities. He truly was a wonderful father. He also began to spend more and more time developing a vineyard on his property and became involved in a lengthy litigation over an easement on this property which took its toll on his health which culminated in a cardiac event in his early 50's. The owner recovered and via some small lifestyle changes was expected to live to full life ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Leading Change Is Never Easy Leading change is never easy. Many individuals want to reach their goals fast, but the process of change takes time. It needs patience, persistence and learning from mistakes (Marhánková, 2010). The centre for the aging needs a change in the activities that take place. Currently, the events that are scheduled in the center are not serving the purpose they should. The members feel that they do not personally associate with the events like bingo, trivia, and reading the newspaper. The individuals need to have a sense of belonging, and the right activities will help them with their socialization. There needs to be a variety of activities and not just the three that are currently being offered. The range gives the members an array of activities to choose from, and they can go for one they love and not just engage in an activity because it is the only one available. The staff members will have an easier job because the patron will be occupied and happy with the new events, which means that the staff is not so engrossed in what is happening with the patrons. The theories of aging especially disengagement, modernization, and activity theories emphasize on the importance of the social aspect in those who are aging (Charles, & Carstensen, 2010). The members have had to change their lives and have lost some roles they used to undertake especially now that they are at the center. Provision of other social activities means that the individuals can get a replacement for the roles they have lost by being away from their homes and families (Jin, 2010). These activities will help establish a positive sense of self because they feel useful, and it usually matters to them that they can still engage in such activities. The change will ensure that the seniors are able to develop a positive self–concept because they will feel useful. • 6. Persuasive Speech : Ophelia, By Bob And Jay 's Bed And... We all sat around the dining table in Bob and Jay's bed and breakfast, waiting for Ophelia to show up so we could get our meeting started. These weekly meetings had switched to twice per month now that we're in the summer season and everybody has more guests to deal with. I was in a great mood and wanted to share some happy news with the group. Ophelia showed up five minutes late, not bothering to apologize for her tardiness, and asked Bob to get her a glass of water. She then sat at the head of the table, in the same seat Bob had just got up from, and unpacked her pen and notebook from her bag. When Bob came in, he made a quizzical face to nobody in particular, then place the glass of water in front of Ophelia before seating himself at another chair. We started the meeting with Ophelia scolding us about our low reservation rates. I happened to know from others in the B&B industry that all of us were doing better than average. Nobody expects a B&B to be 100% occupied every day of the year. Even hotels and airplanes don't get 100% bookings all the time. But Ophelia informed us that Molly expects 80–90% occupancy for the B&Bs that DoGeti is invested in. "How do you suggest we accomplish such an astronomical number?" Jay asked. It was hard to tell if he was being sarcastic, since his voice was usually a dry drawl, the same as now. "You will need to increase your marketing." Ophelia said. • 7. Gru Of Universal's Despicable Me Claim: Gru of Universal's Despicable Me belongs in Circle 8, Bolgia 7 where reptiles eternally punish the equally reptilian thieves. Data: In response to recent robbery of the Great Pyramid of Giza, Gru mentions how they "stole the Statue of Liberty...[and] the Eiffel Tower" earlier that year (Despicable Me). Warrant: Gru is so attached to thievery and criminal enterprise that when someone more successful arises, he feels the need to re–affirm his self worth by reminding himself and his cronies of the various robberies they have conducted, especially replicas in Las Vegas. The replicas are also significant in that they were unable to steal the real versions because they are simply imitators of real world–class thieves stealing legitimate, iconic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Similar to how Cleopatra killed herself (but since the ulterior motive was her love for Antony, she was placed in Circle 2), Gru certainly exhibits wrathful behavior, but his actions go only so far as to support his main sin of thievery. This aligns with Dante's view of the Inferno where each character is placed in only one circle with the greater influence on his or her life and decisions. Moreover, since Dante believes in sins aligning with the intent of the sinner, it makes sense that Gru, who has spent his whole life stealing, is punished for his sins as a thief and not as a wrathful individual since his intent was to be a super–villain and not a furious sinner. His thievery enabled him to be wrathful, not the other way around, so his intent remains with Circle 8 and thievery. While Gru certainly earns some retribution by opening his heart to the love of the children, especially when he said "I love you too" to Margo near the end, he would still go to Hell because he is still an active thief who denies the grace and love of God (Despicable Me). Hence, since he denies the grace of God, he would for sure be lower than Circle 6 and into the area of the Inferno of the Sins of Lion, which are sins of violence and ambition and would not be in the sins of incontinence (which are the first half of the Inferno). Dante specifies how "Malice is the sin most hated by God" because those who commit those sins do so willingly and without the love of Divine Illumination (Alighieri 11.22). Gru, even with the intent to support his family that he cares for so generously, is sure to be punished in Circle 8 for committing such acts of malice against ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. What Happens When Relationship Building Strategies Do Not... Relationship Building When in a leadership position, building relationships is an important aspect. These relationships create a network that can be used in times of need, creating change, and increase overall confidence between yourself and your peers, clients, leaders, and subordinates. Throughout this week's reading we learned about the many relationship building strategies. This journal will outline my relationship building strategies, both within and outside work situations, and what happens when my strategies do not work. As a new leader these strategies are ones that I will have to work on before I fully employ them. Two of these strategies that would work best with me are developing mutual interests with clients and becoming a collaborator (Gilley, 2006). Developing interests with clients allows me to ask open ended questions that help to search for common interests. These interests help build rapport, which can help me develop new ideas or improvements for the organization. Becoming a collaborator includes tailoring interactions to the audience (Gilley, 2006). I am constantly doing this because not everyone is going to react the same way, want the same information, or care about the subject. When common interests are found the relationship and interaction between myself and others will become more productive or meaningful. Outside Situations All of these strategies can be used outside of work as well. This, I believe, is because humans need interactions and relationships to be happy. One does not have to be cut and dry at all times. It is finding a balance between professionalism and normalcy. Understanding the common interest between yourself and those around you, will help to increase the quality of time being spent with others. While one does not need to be politically savvy around their non–work friends, it can improve their thoughts toward you and your family. Observing your ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One thing that could have been improved is the many unfilmable things, like a characters thoughts, that do not belong in the screenplay. (Url) These things should be shown through the actions of the characters. For example instead of just writing what the character is thinking something, which leaves room for the reader's imagination to wonder what is going on with the character, tell exactly what expressions need to be on the characters face and have a dialogue that contributes to that also. There are several times throughout the screen play that this happens. Other than the few times that this mistake was made I feel as if the screen play was well written and Daurio made vigilant efforts to make sure that these mistakes were not made often. There is plenty of white space throughout the screen play which is one thing that helped tremendously in the contribution to Despicable Me being such a relaxed read. Every paragraph of action was contained to three lines or less which Kelms, author of How to Write a Script article, made out to be a crucial part of keeping a readers interest. This ensures that you don't over write and leave a reader bored. (Kelms) Daurio did a tremendous job when it came to getting the story across without taking up to much time. These animals didn't feel as if they belonged on that island at all, but through the hardships they endured together and experiences they tackled through, they were able to reconcile with their friends and learn from their mistakes. Therefore is it evident that, acceptance of one's true feelings, relationships that are true and meaningful, and experiences that make us realise our mistakes, are all important in building our understanding of someone, and that understanding will nourish our sense of belonging. For Gru, it was understanding his true feelings of wanting to be with the three children, and for the animals from Madagascar, it was the sense of wanting to belong to a wild habitat, but at the same time wishing they were living their own domesticated lifestyles. • 23. Integrity In Despicable Me How would you live a life with no family, but a whole lot of problems? Increased tension and stress would eat up your mind. Being close with your family is one of the easiest way to overcome any obstacle that may come your way. Living a life full of problems that seem problems can be described by the life of Gru, a villain from the prevailing film, Despicable Me. His family is made up of extremely unique people, including the adorable minions, Dr. Nefario, the crazy scientist, an unmotivated mother and three adopted girls– Margo, Edith, and Agnes. Gru bonded with each one of his family members resulting in their family members feeling compassionate to help Gru out in any situation. They were always Gru's back up in times of need. Having a ... Mr. Perkins provides Gru with the necessary money to put all his experiments in action, and he is the source of the minions' payment. Repeatedly being asked for money by Gru, Mr. Perkins cuts off his relationship with Gru as he sees no progress. Gru has to break the news to the minions, as he says, " Now, I know there have been some rumors going around that the bank is no longer funding us... In terms of money, we have no money. So how will we get to the moon... We won't..." Instead of looking for other job opportunities, the minions stay loyal to Gru's mission and don't give up even though Gru has given up. Margo, Edith, and Agnes walk in while Gru is talking and Agnes pulls him over to the side and shows Gru her piggy bank. Inside there is nothing but three coins, which wouldn't do much. However, the three coins motivate the minions to donate their personal belongings to Gru like watches, and sofas lying in their lair. The stack of items rapidly increases as they now have enough money to fund their project. Just to think that this entire project would've gone to complete waste, but the minions and girls treated Gru like family, and helped solve his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 24. The Design Of Roman Aqueducts The Design of Roman Aqueducts: Pont du Gard Roman structures dominated the Roman values and power across the landscape of Europe. Many of these structures, especially the aqueducts, show significant evidence of the Roman architecture and engineering superiority. Not only that their structures are highly durable, standing monumentally over thousands of years, the cleverness in the design of their water distribution system is an achievement to be mesmerized, considering the 200 million gallons of water being supplied daily to the city of Rome herself by the early 4th century AD . This essay will investigate Pont du Gard as one of the most magnificent members of the Roman aqueducts, in regard to its design processes, along with the technological issues in relation to the aqueduct design. Pont du Gard functioned as an aqueduct bridge, a portion of the Nimes Aqueduct, delivering the majority of the water supply to the city of Nemausus (Nimes, France), an important colonial city of Rome. Its unarguably remarkable size, being over 49 m tall, makes it the biggest bridge the Roman engineers had ever constructed, only a metre shorter than the Colosseum, and it is still standing until today. Another important feature of this aqueduct is the maintenance of the gradient over the distance of 50 km. The gradient over the whole course of the aqueduct is only a mere 0.034 percent and the actual gradient on the section downstream of Pont du Gard is no more than 7 mm per 100 m. This ... These adorable, yellow, Tic Tac–like creatures depicted in the hit movies Despicable Me, Despicable Me 2, and Minions work hard and don't expect much in return.Their work ethic has received praise from esteemed figures such as Barack Obama, who says that "minions stand for every ideal that America was built on" (Kevin 53). The problem is that minions only work for villains with nefarious plans of taking over the world. In American society, studies found that "99% of the people feel like henchmen to the biggest companies in all sectors of society, from Walmart to Wall Street" (Bob 17). The relationship between the minions and villains bears many similarities to the modern economic and political system of America. The Despicable Me movie franchise is a comprehensive representation of capitalism in America. If you are like me you do a search on your favorite search engine for the solution to the problem. This article gives you some simple fixes to common problems computer users run into online. Problem #1 One problem I run into often is that my computer will occasionally start to run really slow. There are many reasons this may occur including a hard disk drive which is running short on available disk space, bad files left from software programs that have been installed or uninstalled, corrupt data, missing Windows updates or outdated drivers, a computer that is overheating because of a problem with the fan, corrupt OS, or simply bad Hardware. The solution to a slow running computer is based on which of the above reasons can be attributed to the problem. To free up hard disk drive space you can take a few steps to free up space. You should have between 200 and 500MB of free hard disk drive space on your computer to accommodate swap files and temporary files. To free up space run "Disk Cleanup", uninstall old programs or games that you no longer use. If you are running Windows XP or Vista you can disable System Restore, disable hibernation or delete temporary files. Running Scandisk can insure that there is nothing physically wrong with the hard disk drive and running Defrag will make sure that the data is arranged in the best possible order. • 30. The True Meaning Of Being Happy What is happiness? What does it mean to be happy? Is happiness real? These questions are the most frequently asked questions that most people ask themselves. By definition, being happy is when something is feeling or showing pleasure or contentment. But, what is the true meaning of being happy? Many people view happiness in many different aspects. Pharrell Williams's song "Happy" did just that. It tells people that they don't have to seek hard to be happy. It is within one's self. Unlike most songs, there is no hidden message. The message is very clear. It is about maintaining a positive state of mind despite how bad and sometimes heartbreaking events in life can be. With the air, like I don 't care baby by the way." Pharrell wants the listener to know how he might be crazy but he doesn't care what you think about him. He's just going to be weird when it comes to telling you how he feels. Next, the chorus begins with the lines "Clap along if you feel like a room without a roof, Clap along if you feel like happiness is the truth. Clap along if you know what happiness is to you, Clap along if you feel like that's what you wanna do." Here, Pharrell's narrator is to remind the listener to continue to be happy no matter what. Also, you have no limits so live it up. What's happiness if you're going to experience it with limitations? Now, we've reached the second verse. Pharrell continues to give us more tips on staying happy. "Here come bad news talking this and that, yeah. Well, give me all you got, and don't hold back, yeah. The topic for the workshop series was "Building an Exclusive Campus" and the speaker was Paul Bradley, a worker at the student activities office. This series scheduled to start at 7:00p.m. but it was started some minutes after seven due the lateness of the attendees. I attended this program because I thought it would help me learn about the different organizations on campus, and how to network through socialization which would help me to easily transition from college into medical school and blend with the others without feeling any different. Thus, to be able to make new friends, get to know people first before judging them, and last but not the least, learn of the many organizations and the important role I can play in them if I become a member to promote the organizations purpose existence. The speaker talked about how to promote an organization by making it open to everyone and not limiting it to a certain group of race, color, religion, gender and so on. By attending this sold series, I learned about how we easily stereotype a person or a group of individuals whom we have never spoken to but easily judge them because of their color, race, or background. Bless Me, Ultima By Rudolfo Anaya When we think of childhood we think of blissful, exhilarating moments, like being pushed on a swing higher and higher feeling as if you could stretch your hand and grasp the clouds, as you experience the cooling air of a hot summer day on your blushed face, as you yelped to be pushed further into the clouds. We do not think of the anguish and questions that the sight of death brings. But that's exactly what happens to six year old Antonio Marez in the novel Bless Me, Ultima by Rudolfo Anaya. When young Antonio witnesses the death of a local War Veteran, a family friend, and a classmate, it leaves him with transforming effects, prompting him to question death, sin, morality, and in the end leading him to be ambivalent towards his Catholic beliefs. Through every mortifying act that he witnesses, he has the guidance of Ultima, an elderly "curandera," healer, who uses her wisdom to lead Antonio to answer his own questions. Antonio's questions about good vs evil begin when he first foreshadows that his innocence and peace would be shattered and everything in his life would change forever. He foresees a new period of difficulty and conflict that parallels his transition away from childish innocence and towards becoming a "man of learning." "But the innocence which our isolation sheltered could not last forever, and the affairs of the town began to reach across our bridge and enter my life." (15).
