Naomi Bellacotte: A Short Story
Naomi Bellacotte had awoken from the nap at the sound of a heavy book falling off of her bed. The
ebony haired, green eyed girl was suppose to meet her best friend roughly half an hour ago so when
she saw her side table clock it was no wonder the first words out of her mouth were, "Oh shit!"
Naomi was going to culinary school and her best friend had no business anywhere near a stove top
so she was planning on spending as much time with him as possible. Three weeks today she broke
up with her ex, as he had cheated on her and Michael had nailed him good in the face. the very
thought made her smile. Thankfully her best friend was only five houses down the block so she
slipped on her boots, fixed her grey short layered shirt, and dead pool tank top before heading out
the door. Her long ebony locks were pulled back into one tuggable ponytail. Naomi's parents were
on a seven day cruise while she opted out to spend more time with her best friend. She offered to
cook them dinner and then they were suppose to have a movie night. ... Show more content on

"Michael!!" The girl had fallen asleep and nearly missed their date. She had planned on spending the
night and she was no stranger to sleeping in his t–shirts. People liked to joke that her and Michael
had to be an item, but they couldn't because they were best friend, right? He was the sweetest guy
and would always to listen to what she had to vent about. She loved to joke that he was her husband.
As Gabby dated Jason she got into a nice heated argument with the asshole about Mike. Jason
wanted her to stop hanging out with him and all she did was laugh, assuming that I had been a joke.
There was no way in hell that she was going to stop seeing her best friend. She was going to miss
him so much and it was only when she heard that it would be so longer before they could see each
other again, did she realize how much she needed

Cyclohexene Lab Report
Overall, the experiment went smoothly. Our product's identity and purity was tested by calculating
the density, an alkene test using Bromine Water, and conducting both an IR and a H–NMR spectra.
The first test that was conducted was comparing densities between our product and the known
density of Limonene. From our data, our product had a density of 0.815 g/mL, which is only 0.027
g/mL off from Limonene's known density of 0.842 g/mL. Our density may even be closer due to the
inaccuracy of having less than one millimeter of product. Since our density was only 0.027 g/mL
off, our product seems to be Limonene, but more tests were conducted for more evidence. Then an
alkene test in Bromine Water was conducted. The purpose of the test is to prove that a double ...

This is due to the Bromine breaking double bonds in alkenes. Both hexane and cyclohexene were
used as control groups, and we received results that showed that our product reacted with the
Bromine Water the same way that cyclohexene did. The reaction between Bromine and an alkene
will turn the orange liquid into a faint sight of yellow or colorless, and both our product and
cyclohexene turned the water from orange to faint yellow, thus proving our product is an alkene.
After the alkene test, we went into the testing room to conduct and collect both an IR and a H–NMR
spectra. By observing and comparing our IR to the known Limonene IR on SDBS, most of the peaks
match up. The peaks around 3000 cm–1 and 2920 cm–1 show the stretching of carbon–hydrogen
bonds in both sp2 and sp3 hybridized carbons respectively. The peak around 1620 cm–1 shows the
stretching of carbon–carbon double bonds, and lastly, the peak around 1495 cm–1 signifies the
bending of a sp3 carbon–hydrogen bond. The significant peaks are sharp and fit the strength
categories that are on the IR chart

American Black Bear Essay
The earliest American black bear fossils, which were located in Port Kennedy, Pennsylvania, greatly
resemble the Asiatic species,[9] though later specimens grew to sizes comparable to grizzlies.[10]
From the Holocene to present, American black bears seem to have shrunk in size,[2] but this has
been disputed because of problems with dating these fossil specimens.[7] The American black bear
lived during the same period as short–faced bears (Arctodus simus and A. pristinus) and the Florida
spectacled bear (Tremarctos floridanus). These Tremarctine bears evolved from bears that had
emigrated from Asia to North America 7–8 ma.[11] The short–faced bears are thought to have been
heavily carnivorous and the Florida spectacled bear more herbivorous,[12] while the American
black bears remained arboreal omnivores, like their Asian ancestors. The black bear's generalist
behavior allowed it to exploit a wider variety of foods and has been given as a reason why, of these
three genera, it alone survived climate and vegetative changes through the last ice age while the
other more specialized North American predators became extinct. However, both Arctodus and
Tremarctos had survived several other ice ages. After these prehistoric ursids became extinct during

Today, they are primarily limited to sparsely settled, forested areas.[23] Black bears currently
inhabit much of their original Canadian range, though they seldom occur in the southern farmlands
of Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba; they have been extinct in Prince Edward Island since
1937.[24] The total Canadian black bear population is between 396,000 and 476,000,[25] based on
surveys taken in the mid–1990s in seven Canadian provinces, though this estimate excludes black
bear populations in New Brunswick, Northwest Territories, Nova Scotia, and Saskatchewan. All
provinces indicated stable populations of black bears over the last

The horses hooves galloped and came to a slow stop as the Everus family arrived in their grand
carriage to the front gates of the manor of Lord Pandora. A butler from beside the gates allowed
Lord Alexander Everus, Lady Elizabeth Everus, and young Aya Everus to file out. The Pandora
Manor was just as great as the Everus manor. The small noble family of three walked through the
gates hand in hand. This would be young Aya's first time visiting the Pandora Manor. Someone
special was waiting here for her. Young Lord Samael Pandora was around Aya's age and the only son
of late Lady Pandora. Lord Pandora was raised by the maids and few butlers of the household as his

Lady Pandora was an aspiring teacher overridden by health issues and albinism. The albinism was
passed from her to her son, and as soon as Samael was born, Lord Pandora was filled with so much
grief, that he was unable to care for his son and became a drunk. Compared to the Pandora family,
the Everus family was quite lucky. They entered the great doors and were greeted with a flock of
people socializing and enjoying refreshments. The chandeliers let a light glow into the ballroom
floor and a small live orchestra was playing a pleasant melody as people greeting the luck Alexander
Everus.
"Brother!" A deeper voice exclaimed from a small crowd, emerging a heavier man wearing a white
suit, light brown hair atop his head and a pair of worn–out glasses upon his nose. His face bear a
striking resemblance to Alexander's. The man approached Alexander with a hug.
"Charles! It has been a while brother." Aya's father made the remark to the man, returning the hug.

The Act of Sex: Is It Worth the Consequences? in William...
There is a women gasping for her life while trying to escape from a rose in both of the illustrations
that are set for one, individual poem. Most roses represent positively–themed symbolism depending
on their colour. For example, the universal symbol for a red rose is love. In relation, the two colours
used in each of the pictures are deep red/crimson and white, which are not typical rose colour
choices. The deep red rose is used in the original illustration of the poem and it symbolizes
unconscious beauty. William Blake may uses this colour because the woman that is trying to escape
from the rose, may only be internally beautiful. The woman may be very young, grotesque or
unsightly. The deep red rose represents the woman because it is ... Show more content on

You cannot see a sickness because most are airborne or caught on contact, thus making it invisible.
The worm is said to be flying through the night, which references sexual activities because sex
commonly happens during the night. Generally, worms are innocent creatures because they cause no
harm to humans. All they do is live in the soil to find nutrients and food. The only time you would
ever see an earthworm, without digging, is during a rainstorm when they surface themselves to the
ground. They try to maintain their health and not die by being drowned by rain water. Even though
they are visible, they are still not harmful in anyway. It is interesting that Blake uses such an
innocent creature to describe something so destructive like a sexually transmitted infection. He
wants to compare two innocent things, the woman and the worm, and show how by engaging in one
act, can destroy ones life. There are worms present in both illustrations provided for the poem. It is
very unusual that he illustrates the worms crawling on a stem because worms do not crawl on the
top of plants. In the first illustration, the worm is shaded black. It is perceived as crawling or moving
along the stem of a leaf, by the drawn curve in its body. The colour black symbolizes death, which is
directed towards the woman's innocence. Once the worm catches the woman, her innocence is dead.

National Lemon Meringue Pie
National Lemon Meringue Pie Day in the United States
When life gives you lemons you should make not lemonade but lemon meringue pie. National
Lemon Meringue Pie Day is an unofficial national holiday in the United States of America. The
National Lemon Meringue Pie Day is celebrated the 15th of August.
Lemon meringue pie is a dessert pie that's constructed in three parts. The crust is a shortbread pastry
crust, the filling is lemon curd or lemon custard, while the top is a delicate and fluffy meringue. The
shortbread crust is prepared beforehand and is lightly baked before constructing the pie. The texture
and taste should remind people of a light cookie. The lemon custard is a standard custard made from
egg yolks, cream, sugar, and lemon juice. The meringue is constructed by beating the egg whites,
cream of tartar, and adding sugar at just the right time to create a fluffy meringue. The baker will

Meringue was perfected in the 17th century in France and lemon meringue pies started becoming a
staple in the 19th century. It is believed that the lemon meringue pie that we know today in America,
originated in Philadelphia. Elizabeth Goodfellow was a pastry shop owner who operated the first
cooking school in America in the 19th century. Her signature dish was her lemon pudding and one
day she thought to finish her pudding off with a top layer of meringue. This was a relatively new
concept in the world of baking because of how tricky a perfect meringue is to accomplish. Lemon
custards demand a lot of egg yolks and often the egg whites were going to waste. Since meringue
only calls for egg whites, cream of tartar, and sugar it seemed like a perfect solution to the waste
problem. The product was a huge success and Goodfellow continued to top her custards with
meringue. This resourcefulness led to a lemon meringue pie being created in

The Naja haje is a species of cobra found in many parts of Saharan Africa. As a larger species of
cobra, they have a reputation as aggressive yet reserved. The Egyptian Cobra is a hunter, and like
many of it's cobra cousin's, uses venom to capture prey. Egyptian Cobras use a specific type of
neurotoxin to fuse the vitamin K in the blood of its prey, causing for an immediate stop of the heart,
causing a cardiac arrest. It's venom also affects the central nervous system. The venom works by not
allowing the nerve signals to be transmitted to and from the muscles. Sometimes, the venom can be
as serious as stopping those signals transmitted to the heart and lungs , potentially causing death.
Eventually causing respiratory failure. Egyptian Cobras do not spit there venom on other snakes,

gets there." He proudly adds that Erin has grown as a swimmer and as a person. She's very outgoing

Words To Describe Vada
Despite everything in the world that could bring me joy, nothing makes me happier than my eight–
week–old puppy, Vada. On a cold December morning, I took my dog outside to use the bathroom;
she looked so beautiful that I had to capture an image. She was sitting at my feet, smiling at me on
that bright morning. The image will always be a bittersweet reminder of what I lost. Vada was born
on October 5th, 2015 and I got to take her home on December 5th, 2015. She was my first German
Shepherd and I couldn't have been happier. She may have burned a $600 hole in my wallet and cost
me 200 miles on my car, but she was the best thing to ever happen to me. Our first night together
was spent over spoiling and restless sleep. When we woke up she needed ... Show more content on

She was a breathtaking sight as she sat a foot from my feet looking up at me with her elegant eyes.
With the way she was sitting, you can't see her backside; her front body, with a peak of her back
right leg, was the only visible part of her. She has large, pointy ears that have a brown stroke to her
black fill, and a hint of white that covers the interior of her ears. Her head and body are mostly
black, but she had a splash of color. Vada has two brown eyebrows; the left one just a hint smaller
and lighter in color than the right one. A white rim surrounded her deep brown eyes. Her cheekbones
were also light brown, perfectly shaping her head. There was a slight white shimmer, which lead to
her dark black, wet nose. She had tiny whiskers that fought to be shown over the dark colors that
surrounded her. Her neck and body blended together until her chest interrupted the repeated color of
black. Her chest was a shaded white, a lot like the color of her inner ear, and it molded her front legs
connecting to her frame. Her legs were a light brown, which went all the way down to her feet until
a slight indention of a darker brown was formed when her paws hit the dirt. Her legs were short and
stubby. Throughout her whole body, she had tiny white hairs that brushed her black soft fur at every

Emelie Dialectical Journal
"Emmy! We're going to be late!" Emelie squealed sheepishly, and she quickly shoved her books into
her bag and slammed her locker shut. "Emelie! Hurry!" Shelby shouted. Emelie pulled her backpack
over her shoulder and ran towards her best friends. "What took you so long?" Tessa asked. Emelie
sighed heavily. "I had to wait for that guy David to finish helping me with that stupid assignment. I
had no idea what Carlisle was asking for!" Emelie complained. Georgina laughed, brown ringlets
bouncing. "I didn't even bother with doing it, I don't know why you did," she said. Emelie giggled.

Carlisle walked in a few moments later, and everyone was immediately silenced. Emelie's heart
always raced with an odd, erratic tremor whenever Mr. Carlisle walked into the room, despite the
fact that he'd been her teacher for almost a month now. There was just something so frightening and
unsettling about him. From his deep voice to his cold gaze, everything about him filled her with
nervousness. "Settle down, all of you, and pass your assignments to the front of the class," he said,
removing his jacket. Emelie reached into her hot pink binder and pulled out the worksheet she'd
finished just minutes before. It was crumpled and rushed, and she hoped Carlisle wouldn't notice
that there were clearly two distinct sets of handwriting on the page. Emelie looked up and realized
that David, the honors student who'd been helping her, was staring at her from the front of the
classroom with a hopeful smile on his face. She'd been afraid of this. She gave him a weak, friendly
smile in return, hoping to discourage him from thinking he had any kind of chance with dating her,

The College Of Design At Iowa State University
I created a poster to show how the sculpture, "Sequence" represents the College of Design. To show
this, I decided to make the poster about the College of Design at Iowa State University. The
audience of this poster is the students because they are the people that would be applying to be a
design student. To catch the attention of students, I thought a poster would work better so when they
walk by throughout a busy day they will notice it. I also wanted the poster to be landscape or more
horizontal because the sculpture is the largest item on the poster and would make it more
convenient. This poster's purpose is to encourage students to apply to the College of Design. I chose
the title, "Do You Have Qualities of a Design Student?" because I wanted to connect to the students
on campus. I also put this at the top of the page so students see this first. This would make them
continue to read the poster until they hit the bottom of the page which states, "Apply to the College
of Design Today!". This makes them leave the poster with a clear purpose which is to apply to the
design program. I also wanted to include the academic departments of the College of Design. I
included that on the left side of the page so it isn't distracting, but still available for students to read.
This informs students what programs the College of Design provides. The sculpture is in the center
of the poster because this reflects the students and faculty in the College of Design. This is a large

Life of Pi Essay
The Aura of Orange
Human, animal, plants, and all the Earth's content is survivor. They are fighting for their rights in
order to live in this beautiful world. The novel Life of Pi written by Yann Martel, has employed a lot
of symbols that is related to the life. One of the most significant symbols is the color orange. The
author uses orange as a symbol of maintenance of the spirit to survive in survival. This can be
proved as most of the objects that are in the color orange in the novel generate feelings of hope, can
develop courage in survivors, and last but not least can keep them continuously energetic; in order to
strengthen their hearts and spirits to face all the possibilities in life.

Although Orange Juice is just a weak animal that never haunt any animal and just love to eat fruits,
however, her courage overpowers her ability. As Pi monologue, "an adult female orang utan cannot
defeat an adult male spotted hyena... What does fruit eater know about killing? Where would it learn
where to bite, how hard, for how long?" (Martel 130). This is something amazeing as the orang utan
is very brave to face the hyena. One of the reasons why Pi called the female orang utan as Orange
Juice is because the orange animals do represent the courage in an animal. On top of that, Richard
Parker the Bengal tiger also represent courage in an orange animal as he is being scared by the
hyena. "The flame–colored carnivore emerged from beneath the tarpaulin and made for the hyena.
The hyena was leaning against the stern bench, behind the zebra's carcass, transfixed. It did not pull
a fight. Instead it shrank to the floor, lifting a forepaw in a futile gesture of defense," shows that the
hyena was afraid of the orange Bengal tiger that look fierce on him (Martel 150). This is how the
Bengal tiger stay to survive in the lifeboat on the spooky ocean. Therefore, it is true that orange is
the color of courage; and this can spread up the spirit of survival to promote the important of life.
In order to maintain the spirit of survival, energy is very important both physically and emotionally,

Resembling the Sun of Memories
The sun has the resemblance of an orange in many aspects or vice versa. The sun is a very beautiful
as well as powerful source of energy for the world. An orange complies with those demands of the
sun, but in terms of nutrition and health. An orange provides the human body with a very valuable
source of vitamin C. The sun as well as an orange goes by hand because, without the sun; there
would be no oranges and fruits or life in planet earth. The orange provides vitamin c which helps
fight and prevents cell damage, therefore, keeping you safe and healthy from viruses as well as
cancer, which is why an orange triggers in me the purest and a humble appetite for it. During my
infancy and as of today, I love oranges since I grew up eating them in school as well as at home. My
parents would always punish me when I didn't finish my fruits right after dinner since I never had a
pleasant Pallet for fruits. But, the only fruit that satisfies my taste buds would be an orange. I never
through away my oranges at school or home, but rather hide what was left of my orange in my
pocket or backpack. Inclusively, I stole countless amounts of oranges from school for the purpose of
making my hand squeezed orange juice. This why the orange is very special fruit to me, because I
grew up with the orange and thinking about it takes me back through time.
When I see an orange, the first characteristic I notice is the simplicity of its color, Orange. It is also

Analysis Of Oranges By Gary Soto
The poem, "Oranges" by Gary Soto focuses on the emotions and thoughts of a young boy meeting
up with a girl for the first time. The poem begins with the boy, walking in the cold, December
weather, carrying two oranges in his jacket. Then comes his initial contact with the girl at her house,
following the walk to the drugstore. In the drugstore, the boy offers the girl to get what she wants, in
which the picks a chocolate bar. However, the chocolate bar costs a dime, but the boy has only a
nickel. To prevent embarrassment, the boy keeps quiet to the girl and pays for the chocolate bar
using the nickel and the orange he brought. The cashier understood the situation, allowing the
purchase. The two kids walk out the drugstore, holding hands until they stop to unwrap the
chocolate and peel the orange. The poem ends with the author describing the contrast with the bright
orange against the gray, gloomy weather. The first experience creates nervousness and apprehension,
bringing out the innocent, young love. However, the two oranges, that are brought along with the
boy, help offset the winter cold and inner fear. The oranges that are brought contribute to the poem,
allowing the boy to satisfy his date. Using literary structures and figurative language, the message of
the story is conveyed to the readers. In Gary Soto's poem, "Oranges," the theme: for the people you
love, there are always sacrifices, is fortified by symbolic imagery, enjambment, and the passionate
tone. The passionate tone within the poem assists in bringing out the author's message. For example
in lines twenty–seven to thirty–eight:
And asked what she wanted
Light in her eyes, a smile
Starting at the corners
Of her mouth. I fingered
A nickel in my pocket
And when she lifted a chocolate
That cost a dime,
I didn't say anything.
I took the nickel from
My pocket, then an orange,
And set them quietly on The counter. (Soto, 1938)
With the author's attitude of giving and caring, the theme is emphasized. The boy understands what
the girl desires and by doing his best, the message of "sacrifice" is communicated in the text. The
poem reads from lines thirty–eight to forty–two, "When I looked up,/ The lady's eyes met mine,/
And held them, knowing/

Mountain Bike Rusting Research Paper
The high cost of mountain bike should deliver such a great wisdom for its owner to keep it in a
perfect condition. Dirts should never ruin its overall performance, regardless of its easy cleaning by

Analysis Of A Boat Under A Rose
A boat under a rose
Subconscious Interlude is a painting by Joseph Cusimano. Every person can decode different
meanings from a painting. A concealed message is a message that can be seen behind a painting.
This message can be interpreted as a happy moment preceding a sad one. Greek people say that a
bad thing has something good hidden in it. Even though people can not see this optimistic side
directly, life brings it to light as a consequence of endless tears and misery. After facing the
problems and the bad moments, man can stand up again on his feet and perceive ideas that he
couldn't have done before.
The material of this painting is acrylic on canvas and it was painted in 1963. Its is a simple but at the
same time a wonderful painting. Its shape is rectangular. Its opposite sides have the same length but
the four of them are not equal. The perpendicular sides are longer than the horizontal ones.
The first time that catches your eye is a bog squared frame which captures the three fourths of the
whole painting. All the sides of the frame have the same length. The color of the main frame is dark
brown. The frame is three–dimensional towards the inside. The top side and the left one of the
three–dimensional surface towards the inside have a lighter color, common to dark yellow mixed
with light brown and highlights of orange. But the color of the other side is bright yellow. There are
shades that separate the two colors and distinguish them from each other. That fact discloses that
there is a hidden source of light coming from the upper left of the painting. The warm rays can touch
and stroke soft the body skin.
In the frame there is a lonely rose; it seems like a sad queen.
If somebody could smell its perfume, a special scent will activate every single nerve in his or her
nasal area. The rose is huge; its color is passionate red and the flower has a melancholic look. Its
breath is fast and it is crying. Its petals are closed and it seems like it wants to protect itself from
something. Somebody could tell that the rose is bleeding inside and its internal feelings are
pessimistic. Its strain is small as if somebody tried to root out its heart. It has two leaves and there
don't seem to be any thorns. The

Throughout my years of living, I have lived in various houses but my grandmother's house in the

the most spacious one in the neighborhood but it occupies a special place in my heart, because this

Descriptive Essay : Orange, A Beautiful Color
The One What if I told you something so simple and quotidian was actually complex and
completely riveting. To most people orange is just an occurrence between the red and yellow
spectrum. Maybe an orange is what you have in a bowl on your kitchen counter, patiently waiting to
be picked as a snack. Orange is not so simple or mundane as many may believe. At a very young age
I despised orange, the color as well as the fruit. The color reminded me of an unfavorable rusty
wrench. The fruit itself was lumpy and bravely bold, exhibiting an unconfident standoff with my
taste buds. This outlook is no longer true, yet now I truly believe orange is a beautiful color as well
as a delicious fruit. Orange is unique, symbolic, and full of history. To begin, orange is unique in
many way that you may not have thought of. Unique is being the only one of its kind; unlike
anything else. Firstly, were you aware that after chocolate and vanilla, orange is the world's favorite
flavor? You have to be something special to be in league with the "big boys". For the most part, the
more orange the peel is the more mature and sweet the fruit will be. Either way an orange is an
orange, the taste is relatively delicious across the board. Forthwith, many may say oranges are of the
very few fruits that have a bittersweet citrus taste. To the glory of bumpy, small thin packets filled
with sunshine, that is an orange. Secondly, the word orange has absolutely no perfect rhymes. To
clarify, the English

It’s Like Apples and Oranges
The idiom "It's like apples and oranges" has been around for a long time. When
uttered it is meant to say that two things are so different that there is no basis for comparison.
For example, "Even though they are twins, Mike and Bob are like apples and oranges, they
never agree on anything". Are Mike and Bob really so different? If so, is there truly no basis
for comparison? Much like Mike and Bob, apples and oranges may have more in common
than the person who would utter such a comment might think. What follows is a multi–tiered
examination of the two fruits.
Historically, apples and oranges have been part of the human diet for more years than
have been recorded. It has been speculated that apples originated in the mountainous areas of
western Asia (Hathaway). Similarly, oranges are believed to come from Indo China, which is
also in western Asia (Morton). Both fruits were brought to the western hemisphere by European
settlers (Hathaway; Morton). Apples were likely introduced to North America by the English
or French (Hathaway). Oranges, on the other hand, were brought by the Spanish to Central and
South America (Morton).
Orange trees are known to science as Citrus Sinensis, whereas, apples trees are known
as Malus Domesticus (Apples Vs Oranges). Both belong to the Plantae kingdom, are classified

as Magnoliopsida and belong to the Magnoliophyta Division (Apples Vs Oranges). The
two trees belong to different families, apples belong

Citrus Fruits Baby
Dominating the agriculture industry that thrives in the United States, citrus fruit, in particular
oranges, are the staple crop of Florida. The importance of citrus fruit production to U.S. agriculture
as a whole is enormous. Within the United States alone, the consumption of oranges per person is
greater than that of any other fruit. In 2011, the average American consumed an astonishing 76.3
pounds of citrus fruit per year (Boriss, 2013, pg. 1). With such a great deal of the average American
diet being so heavily reliant on the citrus fruit industry, any disturbances within the industry will
have a tremendous effect on the food consumer by Americans, let alone those to whom the food is
exported to. For the past several, a disease known as citrus greening, has been ravaging the citrus
fruit population throughout Central Florida crippling the local economy and the citrus fruit industry
as a whole. Simply stated, citrus greening is a disease which causes citrus fruits to be sour,
malformed, and unable to be harvested. The long–term effects of citrus greening will eventually
cause the entire tree to die before spreading to the rest of the plants within the citrus grove (Allen,
2011, pg. 1). As a result, the severity of this disease has caused many to question the sustainability
of this perennial staple crop for the state of Florida, and the long–term potential impacts it could
have on the state's economy. Because there is such heavy reliance on the sustainability of

The item that I chose for my Art History 6K Project is a ceramic plate made in Egypt, or more

is the date in which the piece was found. The plate is made of clay, hardened through heat, and
finished with a glossy sealer. The color scheme of the plate is very bright and colorful giving off a
happy vibe. The ceramic plate itself is an off white color with splashes of blue and green throughout.
Due to the bright color composition, it must've been used during celebrations of some sort. Despite

It could've been purposefully done, but judging from how uneven and blotchy the color is, it makes
more sense to assume that the area had been worn out. If this is the case then what was placed there
that could have created that mark? And what was the purpose of the brown square in the middle of
the plate? The outline around the square has a lot of depth so I inferred that the outline was created
not through paint but was rather carved out. I thought that the plate could've been used for food,
however, if it was then there wouldn't be a need for the brown square in the middle. In general, what
was this ceramic plate used for if not for food? Another thing that I found interesting was that in the
back of the plate, there are four moon shaped platform to help raise the plate. The platform was
placed in the middle and in the formation so that it looked like the corners of a square. I think the
reason why the ceramic plate is raised is because it was probably used to hold something important.
This work of art relates to a broader religious context because the calligraphy used on it reminds me
of the calligraphy used in the Qur'an that we discussed about it

Elissa Down, with a visual interpretation of how the family works with their hardships to support
each other and Charlie. I made a visual expression because it allowed me to show the multiple
points of view that there always is in a family environmentI used the colour black in my visual piece
to represent difficulty getting through to Charlie through his autism. The different segments of the
circle have colours chosen based on colour psychology and the impact colours have on peoples
emotions and perception.
Thomas is represented by the green third with black lines moving up and breaking as they reach the
centre. The black lines symbolise jail ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She exhibits these in all of her interactions with tough situations regarding Charlie, she is
consistently caring for her family and leading them from a positive outlook.
Simon is represented by the brown third with a black maze leading to the centre. The black maze
symbolises the blocks that Simon encounters when he is trying to look after his family. He uses
humour to get past a lot of these issues, but he still struggles through twists and turns to reach
through to Charlie in the middle. This is shown when Maggie goes to hospital, leaving Simon in
charge and he is struggling to give Charlie his medicine and get him organised for school. Simon's
segment is brown because it represents the reliability and security of the Earth. He shows his
protection for his family when he yells at his neighbours after they harrassed Charlie and when he
instructs Maggie that "We're going to the hospital" in order to take care of his family.
Charlie is represented by the orange balloon in the middle of the circle. Charlie is in the middle
because he is what is drawing the others together as a stronger family. Charlie's circle doesn't have
any black areas because his actions make perfect sense to him. I chose a balloon to symbolise
Charie's childlike innocence and to show the irony of comparing the freedom of a balloon with
Charlie's confinement in his house due to his autism. Charlie is represented in the colour orange
because it has been connected to feelings of vibrance

The Importance Of Archetype In Today's Culture
Throughout the season of winter, a yellow zesty fruit blossoms from a tree with thorny branches and
white flowers with purple edges. This yellow citrus fruit is known as a lemon. In today's culture,
lemons are used for food, skin, hair, cleanings, and are even featured in an iconic American singer's
album. You do not necessarily eat a lemon as a whole. It is usually ingested by cutting it either in
half or in pieces, and squeezed for its juice. The acidic juice from a lemon has a very sour and bitter
taste but it is enjoyed by many. Adding lemon to a plate changes its whole flavor. Whether the dish
is sweet or spicy, it will change the way the entire taste of the dish. Here's a recipe that involves
lemon as one of the main ingredients by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Wrong. The first thing that comes to my mind when I hear the word "lemon" is of course, Beyoncé.
She recently came out with a new visual album named "Lemonade." Highsnobiety.com (2016)
mentions that Beyoncé's sixth studio album debuted overwhelmingly positive reviews and was
described as "defiant," "brave" and "powerful," and many felt the visual album was one of her
strongest to date. My favorite song on the album is "Sandcastles." I believe that "Sandcastles" is one
of the most personal songs on the album; the most intimate. The video is simple and beautiful, as
well. Vulture.com (2016) announced that it was the first video to feature Jay Z [her husband]. They
also quoted that "it's one of the most intimate windows into their marriage they've ever allowed.
Here, she reaches "Forgiveness." When I hear the word "lemon," I automatically think of Beyoncé's
"Lemonade" because I went to see her in concert in Miami at the Marlins Stadium. It was, in fact,
one of the best days of my life. I got the tickets for my 18th birthday and took my significant other.
It just had happened that my best friend had also gotten a ticket so we all carpooled together and
listened to the album the whole way to the concert. When the album came out [which was in April, I
believe], it was the only thing I listened to up until the concert about two weeks later. I had learned
every single song on the album; even the order they were in. I practically lived "Lemonade". It was
one of the best experiences of my

The ebony haired, green eyed girl was suppose to meet her best friend roughly half an hour ago so when she saw her side table clock it was no wonder the first words out of her mouth were, "Oh shit!" Naomi was going to culinary school and her best friend had no business anywhere near a stove top so she was planning on spending as much time with him as possible. Three weeks today she broke up with her ex, as he had cheated on her and Michael had nailed him good in the face. the very thought made her smile. Thankfully her best friend was only five houses down the block so she slipped on her boots, fixed her grey short layered shirt, and dead pool tank top before heading out the door. Our product's identity and purity was tested by calculating the density, an alkene test using Bromine Water, and conducting both an IR and a H–NMR spectra. The first test that was conducted was comparing densities between our product and the known density of Limonene. From our data, our product had a density of 0.815 g/mL, which is only 0.027 g/mL off from Limonene's known density of 0.842 g/mL. Our density may even be closer due to the inaccuracy of having less than one millimeter of product. Since our density was only 0.027 g/mL off, our product seems to be Limonene, but more tests were conducted for more evidence. Then an alkene test in Bromine Water was conducted. The purpose of the test is to prove that a double ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is due to the Bromine breaking double bonds in alkenes. Both hexane and cyclohexene were used as control groups, and we received results that showed that our product reacted with the Bromine Water the same way that cyclohexene did. The reaction between Bromine and an alkene will turn the orange liquid into a faint sight of yellow or colorless, and both our product and cyclohexene turned the water from orange to faint yellow, thus proving our product is an alkene. After the alkene test, we went into the testing room to conduct and collect both an IR and a H–NMR spectra. By observing and comparing our IR to the known Limonene IR on SDBS, most of the peaks match up. The peaks around 3000 cm–1 and 2920 cm–1 show the stretching of carbon–hydrogen bonds in both sp2 and sp3 hybridized carbons respectively. The peak around 1620 cm–1 shows the stretching of carbon–carbon double bonds, and lastly, the peak around 1495 cm–1 signifies the bending of a sp3 carbon–hydrogen bond. The significant peaks are sharp and fit the strength categories that are on the IR chart ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. American Black Bear Essay The earliest American black bear fossils, which were located in Port Kennedy, Pennsylvania, greatly resemble the Asiatic species,[9] though later specimens grew to sizes comparable to grizzlies.[10] From the Holocene to present, American black bears seem to have shrunk in size,[2] but this has been disputed because of problems with dating these fossil specimens.[7] The American black bear lived during the same period as short–faced bears (Arctodus simus and A. pristinus) and the Florida spectacled bear (Tremarctos floridanus). These Tremarctine bears evolved from bears that had emigrated from Asia to North America 7–8 ma.[11] The short–faced bears are thought to have been heavily carnivorous and the Florida spectacled bear more herbivorous,[12] while the American black bears remained arboreal omnivores, like their Asian ancestors. The black bear's generalist behavior allowed it to exploit a wider variety of foods and has been given as a reason why, of these three genera, it alone survived climate and vegetative changes through the last ice age while the other more specialized North American predators became extinct. However, both Arctodus and Tremarctos had survived several other ice ages. After these prehistoric ursids became extinct during ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The chandeliers let a light glow into the ballroom floor and a small live orchestra was playing a pleasant melody as people greeting the luck Alexander Everus. "Brother!" • 17. The Act of Sex: Is It Worth the Consequences? in William... There is a women gasping for her life while trying to escape from a rose in both of the illustrations that are set for one, individual poem. Most roses represent positively–themed symbolism depending on their colour. For example, the universal symbol for a red rose is love. In relation, the two colours used in each of the pictures are deep red/crimson and white, which are not typical rose colour choices. The deep red rose is used in the original illustration of the poem and it symbolizes unconscious beauty. William Blake may uses this colour because the woman that is trying to escape from the rose, may only be internally beautiful. The woman may be very young, grotesque or unsightly. The deep red rose represents the woman because it is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... You cannot see a sickness because most are airborne or caught on contact, thus making it invisible. The worm is said to be flying through the night, which references sexual activities because sex commonly happens during the night. Generally, worms are innocent creatures because they cause no harm to humans. All they do is live in the soil to find nutrients and food. The only time you would ever see an earthworm, without digging, is during a rainstorm when they surface themselves to the ground. They try to maintain their health and not die by being drowned by rain water. Even though they are visible, they are still not harmful in anyway. It is interesting that Blake uses such an innocent creature to describe something so destructive like a sexually transmitted infection. He wants to compare two innocent things, the woman and the worm, and show how by engaging in one act, can destroy ones life. There are worms present in both illustrations provided for the poem. It is very unusual that he illustrates the worms crawling on a stem because worms do not crawl on the top of plants. In the first illustration, the worm is shaded black. It is perceived as crawling or moving along the stem of a leaf, by the drawn curve in its body. The colour black symbolizes death, which is directed towards the woman's innocence. Once the worm catches the woman, her innocence is dead. In the second image, there are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

National Lemon Meringue Pie Day is an unofficial national holiday in the United States of America. The National Lemon Meringue Pie Day is celebrated the 15th of August. Lemon meringue pie is a dessert pie that's constructed in three parts. The shortbread crust is prepared beforehand and is lightly baked before constructing the pie. The texture and taste should remind people of a light cookie. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Meringue was perfected in the 17th century in France and lemon meringue pies started becoming a staple in the 19th century. It is believed that the lemon meringue pie that we know today in America, originated in Philadelphia. Elizabeth Goodfellow was a pastry shop owner who operated the first cooking school in America in the 19th century. Her signature dish was her lemon pudding and one day she thought to finish her pudding off with a top layer of meringue. This was a relatively new concept in the world of baking because of how tricky a perfect meringue is to accomplish. Lemon custards demand a lot of egg yolks and often the egg whites were going to waste. Since meringue only calls for egg whites, cream of tartar, and sugar it seemed like a perfect solution to the waste problem. The product was a huge success and Goodfellow continued to top her custards with meringue. This resourcefulness led to a lemon meringue pie being created in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The novel Life of Pi written by Yann Martel, has employed a lot of symbols that is related to the life. One of the most significant symbols is the color orange. The author uses orange as a symbol of maintenance of the spirit to survive in survival. As Pi monologue, "an adult female orang utan cannot defeat an adult male spotted hyena... What does fruit eater know about killing? Where would it learn where to bite, how hard, for how long?" (Martel 130). This is something amazeing as the orang utan is very brave to face the hyena. One of the reasons why Pi called the female orang utan as Orange Juice is because the orange animals do represent the courage in an animal. On top of that, Richard Parker the Bengal tiger also represent courage in an orange animal as he is being scared by the hyena. "The flame–colored carnivore emerged from beneath the tarpaulin and made for the hyena. The hyena was leaning against the stern bench, behind the zebra's carcass, transfixed. It did not pull a fight. Instead it shrank to the floor, lifting a forepaw in a futile gesture of defense," shows that the hyena was afraid of the orange Bengal tiger that look fierce on him (Martel 150). This is how the Bengal tiger stay to survive in the lifeboat on the spooky ocean. • 51. Analysis Of Oranges By Gary Soto The poem, "Oranges" by Gary Soto focuses on the emotions and thoughts of a young boy meeting up with a girl for the first time. The poem begins with the boy, walking in the cold, December weather, carrying two oranges in his jacket. Then comes his initial contact with the girl at her house, following the walk to the drugstore. In the drugstore, the boy offers the girl to get what she wants, in which the picks a chocolate bar. However, the chocolate bar costs a dime, but the boy has only a nickel. To prevent embarrassment, the boy keeps quiet to the girl and pays for the chocolate bar using the nickel and the orange he brought. The cashier understood the situation, allowing the purchase. The two kids walk out the drugstore, holding hands until they stop to unwrap the chocolate and peel the orange. The poem ends with the author describing the contrast with the bright orange against the gray, gloomy weather. The first experience creates nervousness and apprehension, bringing out the innocent, young love. However, the two oranges, that are brought along with the boy, help offset the winter cold and inner fear. The oranges that are brought contribute to the poem, allowing the boy to satisfy his date. Using literary structures and figurative language, the message of the story is conveyed to the readers. In Gary Soto's poem, "Oranges," the theme: for the people you love, there are always sacrifices, is fortified by symbolic imagery, enjambment, and the passionate tone. The passionate tone within the poem assists in bringing out the author's message. For example in lines twenty–seven to thirty–eight: And asked what she wanted Light in her eyes, a smile Starting at the corners Of her mouth. I fingered A nickel in my pocket And when she lifted a chocolate That cost a dime, I didn't say anything. I took the nickel from My pocket, then an orange, And set them quietly on The counter. (Soto, 1938) With the author's attitude of giving and caring, the theme is emphasized. The boy understands what the girl desires and by doing his best, the message of "sacrifice" is communicated in the text. The poem reads from lines thirty–eight to forty–two, "When I looked up,/ The lady's eyes met mine,/ And held them, knowing/ ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 59. Analysis Of A Boat Under A Rose A boat under a rose Subconscious Interlude is a painting by Joseph Cusimano. Every person can decode different meanings from a painting. A concealed message is a message that can be seen behind a painting. This message can be interpreted as a happy moment preceding a sad one. Greek people say that a bad thing has something good hidden in it. Even though people can not see this optimistic side directly, life brings it to light as a consequence of endless tears and misery. After facing the problems and the bad moments, man can stand up again on his feet and perceive ideas that he couldn't have done before. The material of this painting is acrylic on canvas and it was painted in 1963. Its is a simple but at the same time a wonderful painting. Its shape is rectangular. Its opposite sides have the same length but the four of them are not equal. The perpendicular sides are longer than the horizontal ones. The first time that catches your eye is a bog squared frame which captures the three fourths of the whole painting. All the sides of the frame have the same length. The color of the main frame is dark brown. The frame is three–dimensional towards the inside. The top side and the left one of the three–dimensional surface towards the inside have a lighter color, common to dark yellow mixed with light brown and highlights of orange. But the color of the other side is bright yellow. There are shades that separate the two colors and distinguish them from each other. That fact discloses that there is a hidden source of light coming from the upper left of the painting. The warm rays can touch and stroke soft the body skin. In the frame there is a lonely rose; it seems like a sad queen. If somebody could smell its perfume, a special scent will activate every single nerve in his or her nasal area. The rose is huge; its color is passionate red and the flower has a melancholic look. Its breath is fast and it is crying. Its petals are closed and it seems like it wants to protect itself from something. Somebody could tell that the rose is bleeding inside and its internal feelings are pessimistic. Its strain is small as if somebody tried to root out its heart. It has two leaves and there don't seem to be any thorns. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What Is A Beatriz House Essay My Childhood in Beatriz House Throughout my years of living, I have lived in various houses but my grandmother's house in the Dominican Republic is the one most significant to me. Indeed, this house wasn't the most lavish nor the most spacious one in the neighborhood but it occupies a special place in my heart, because this is the house where I grew up at. I left my grandmother house fourteen years ago and some details are out of my grasp. The memory of my grandmother Beatriz's house now serves as a symbol of my childhood. When the only things that I was worried about was having fun with my friends by also being free of responsibilities. To begin with, I remember elatedly and quickly running to the cramped porch with the four brown rocking chairs that seemed to lose its maroon paint more each day. Moreover, every evening ... I remember that almost every day my childhood friends and I gather in the patio where we played many amusing games. When we played baseball we didn't had a real baseball bat, neither a real baseball ball, instead we used broom sticks and we made our own baseball balls by putting one green orange or one green lemon into two old sock. Furthermore, sometimes during the night time the house electricity went off, this was the time to play hide and seek. I hid in many places, but I had a special place where I was never found. • 63. Descriptive Essay : Orange, A Beautiful Color The One What if I told you something so simple and quotidian was actually complex and completely riveting. To most people orange is just an occurrence between the red and yellow spectrum. Maybe an orange is what you have in a bowl on your kitchen counter, patiently waiting to be picked as a snack. Orange is not so simple or mundane as many may believe. At a very young age I despised orange, the color as well as the fruit. The color reminded me of an unfavorable rusty wrench. The fruit itself was lumpy and bravely bold, exhibiting an unconfident standoff with my taste buds. This outlook is no longer true, yet now I truly believe orange is a beautiful color as well as a delicious fruit. Orange is unique, symbolic, and full of history. To begin, orange is unique in many way that you may not have thought of. Unique is being the only one of its kind; unlike anything else. Firstly, were you aware that after chocolate and vanilla, orange is the world's favorite flavor? You have to be something special to be in league with the "big boys". For the most part, the more orange the peel is the more mature and sweet the fruit will be. Either way an orange is an orange, the taste is relatively delicious across the board. Forthwith, many may say oranges are of the very few fruits that have a bittersweet citrus taste. To the glory of bumpy, small thin packets filled with sunshine, that is an orange. Secondly, the word orange has absolutely no perfect rhymes. To clarify, the English ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 67. It’s Like Apples and Oranges The idiom "It's like apples and oranges" has been around for a long time. When uttered it is meant to say that two things are so different that there is no basis for comparison. For example, "Even though they are twins, Mike and Bob are like apples and oranges, they never agree on anything". Are Mike and Bob really so different? If so, is there truly no basis for comparison? Much like Mike and Bob, apples and oranges may have more in common than the person who would utter such a comment might think. What follows is a multi–tiered examination of the two fruits. Historically, apples and oranges have been part of the human diet for more years than have been recorded. It has been speculated that apples originated in the mountainous areas of western Asia (Hathaway). Similarly, oranges are believed to come from Indo China, which is also in western Asia (Morton). Both fruits were brought to the western hemisphere by European settlers (Hathaway; Morton). Apples were likely introduced to North America by the English or French (Hathaway). Oranges, on the other hand, were brought by the Spanish to Central and South America (Morton). Orange trees are known to science as Citrus Sinensis, whereas, apples trees are known as Malus Domesticus (Apples Vs Oranges). Both belong to the Plantae kingdom, are classified Hathaway 2 as Magnoliopsida and belong to the Magnoliophyta Division (Apples Vs Oranges). The

  • 72. Citrus Fruits Baby Dominating the agriculture industry that thrives in the United States, citrus fruit, in particular oranges, are the staple crop of Florida. The importance of citrus fruit production to U.S. agriculture as a whole is enormous. Within the United States alone, the consumption of oranges per person is greater than that of any other fruit. In 2011, the average American consumed an astonishing 76.3 pounds of citrus fruit per year (Boriss, 2013, pg. 1). With such a great deal of the average American diet being so heavily reliant on the citrus fruit industry, any disturbances within the industry will have a tremendous effect on the food consumer by Americans, let alone those to whom the food is exported to. For the past several, a disease known as citrus greening, has been ravaging the citrus fruit population throughout Central Florida crippling the local economy and the citrus fruit industry as a whole. Simply stated, citrus greening is a disease which causes citrus fruits to be sour, malformed, and unable to be harvested. The long–term effects of citrus greening will eventually cause the entire tree to die before spreading to the rest of the plants within the citrus grove (Allen, 2011, pg. 1). As a result, the severity of this disease has caused many to question the sustainability of this perennial staple crop for the state of Florida, and the long–term potential impacts it could have on the state's economy. The label accompanying the art piece included a year, 2007, which I assume is the date in which the piece was found. The plate is made of clay, hardened through heat, and finished with a glossy sealer. The color scheme of the plate is very bright and colorful giving off a happy vibe. The ceramic plate itself is an off white color with splashes of blue and green throughout. Due to the bright color composition, it must've been used during celebrations of some sort. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It could've been purposefully done, but judging from how uneven and blotchy the color is, it makes more sense to assume that the area had been worn out. If this is the case then what was placed there that could have created that mark? And what was the purpose of the brown square in the middle of the plate? The outline around the square has a lot of depth so I inferred that the outline was created not through paint but was rather carved out. I thought that the plate could've been used for food, however, if it was then there wouldn't be a need for the brown square in the middle. In general, what was this ceramic plate used for if not for food? Another thing that I found interesting was that in the back of the plate, there are four moon shaped platform to help raise the plate. The platform was placed in the middle and in the formation so that it looked like the corners of a square. I think the reason why the ceramic plate is raised is because it was probably used to hold something important. He uses humour to get past a lot of these issues, but he still struggles through twists and turns to reach through to Charlie in the middle.
