4. INTRODUCTION
• The Automation Paper Cutting Machine is a automatic paper cutting
machine designed to feed & cut the paper in a proper dimension
continuously.
• The machine is exclusively intended for mass production and they are
represent fasten and more efficient way to feed & cut the paper.
5. NEED OF AUTOMATION
• To achieve mass production
• To reduce man power
• To increase the efficiency of the plant
• To reduce the work load
• To reduce the production time
• To reduce the material handling
• To reduce the fatigue of workers
• To achieve good product quality
• Less maintenance
6. PRINCIPLE
The working principle behind the operation of Automation Paper
Cutting Machine is FOUR BAR CHAIN MECHANISM particularly
Beam Engine(Crank and Lever Mechanism).
7. The Four-Bar Chain:
The four bar chain is the most fundamental of the plane kinematic chain.
It is a much preferred mechanical device for the mechanization and
control of motion due to its simplicity and versatility., Basically it consists
of four rigid links which are connected in the form of quadrilateral by four-
pin joints. When one of the links is fixed, it is known as a linkage or
mechanism. Link that rotate complete revolution is called the crank, the
link opposite to the fixed link is called the coupler, and the fourth link is
called the lever or rocker if it oscillates or another crank, if it rotates.
8. Grashof’s Law For A Four-Bar
Mechanism:
Groshof’s law states that a four bar chain mechanism has at least one
revolving link if the sum of the lengths of the largest and the shortest
links is less than the sum of lengths of the other two links.
9. MECHANISM
A part of the mechanism of a beam engine (also known as crank and
lever mechanism) which consists of four links,is shown in fig.In this
mechanism, when the crank rotates about the fix centre A,the lever
oscillates about a fix centre D.The end E of the lever CDE is connected
to a piston rod which reciprocates due to the rotation of the crank. In
other words, the purpose of this mechanism is to convert rotary motion
into reciprocating motion.
