6. Diesel Engine and Petrol Engine..
PETROL ENGINE DIESEL ENGINE
1] Fuel are Mixed in a Carburetor. 1] Fuel is mixed with air inside the cylinder.
2] Low Compression ratio. 2] High Compression ratio.
3] Low Power Production. 3] High Power Production.
4] Petrol ingnited with an electric spark 4] Ingnition is achieved with the help of the hot
Compressed air.
5] Highly Volatile fuels are used. 5] These engine works with Fuels that have Low
volatilities.
6] High fuel Consumption. 6] Relatively low fuel Consumption.
7] Low initial cost and Maintenance cost . 7] High initial and Maintenance cost.
7. GEAR BOX
• A transmission or gearbox provides speed and torque conversions from a
rotating power source to another device using gear ratios.
• Gear box are used to reduce
the load on the motor.
• This reduces wear on the engine,
allows more control and allows greater speed.
8. Clutch
clutch is a mechanical device that engages and disengages power
transmission, especially from a drive shaft to a driven shaft. In the
simplest application, clutches connect and disconnect two rotating
shafts (drive shafts or line shafts). In these devices, one shaft is
typically attached to an engine or other power unit (the driving
member), while the other shaft (the driven member) provides
output power for work. Typically the motions involved are rotary,
but linear clutches also exist. In a motor vehicle, the clutch acts as a
mechanical linkage between the engine and transmission, and
briefly disconnects, or separates the engine from the transmission
system. This disconnects the drive wheels whenever the clutch
pedal is depressed, allowing the driver to smoothly change gears.
