PROPOSAL
My product is that of a music video. The song I am using is Raise your
weapon by Deadmau5.
Deadmau5 produce typically house/ dubstep music.
MAIN PRODUCT
SUBSIDIARY PRODUCTS.
My subsidiary products are a digi-pack and poster. Following the codes and
conventions of existing subsidiary products.
RESEARCH
I have researched similar products to mine, where it has the same target
audience, and similar genre.
I learnt that in music videos one of the main conventions many of them
follow are ensuring that images are synchronised to the rhythm of the music.
In my music video where the music is slow my images are often still or have
subtle movement, however as the music speeds up I speeded up my moving
images so that there was a positive correlation with images and sound.
WHAT I LEARNT
TARGET AUDIENCE/ FOCUS
GROUP
My target audience is young people, male and female around the ages
of 16-30. People who are likely to be interested in my music video
based on the music are people who have an interest in dubstep music.
However in addition to my focus group there will also be a peripheral
audience where although they may not have an interest in the music
itself, they may be drawn to the music video for other reasons eg, have
an interest in the girl singing, or the images of scenery in the
background. Meaning that the age could vary higer or lower than the
specific age group I have aimed my music video for.
LOCATIONS
Locations involve going to a beach, where my nearest one is Mersea Beach, therefore
myself and my Dad drove up there in order to get the appropriate shots.
Another of my locations was at my Grandads, where he has fields in Roxwell
surrounding his house, therefore I went up there with my Mum and got the
appropriate shots to enable me to make my music video the way I wanted it to look.
CASTING
I have one actor in my music video, Ophelia Murphy. I have asked permission
ensuring that she is comfortable with what I require for my music video. My
actor will be standing in front of the green screen whilst singing the song of
my choice for my music video, being Deadmau5 – Raise your weapons.
The equipment I will need to enable me to carry out my music video, will be a
recording camera, tripod, and still camera, in order to do location shots.
I will also require green screen, to then put the backgrounds behind my actor
whilst she is singing.
EQUIPMENT/ SKILLS
What would make me happy is to have a positive response from my targeted
audience (ages 16-30).
I wish for my music video to be seen as professional and meet the codes and
conventions of a typical music video.
WHAT WOULD MAKE YOU HAPPY?
Receiving feedback from people in my class, involving me asking them the
appropriate questions finding out whether my products satisfies them in the
way I would like it to.
MEASURE OF SUCCESS.
