2. The 1975
The 1975 are an alternative indie band from Manchester.
Recently they changed the image of their band, leaving
behind the black and white aesthetic they had employed
for almost 2 years, are replacing it with a pastel pallet. This
colour change is thought to be an indicator of the tone of
their new album, which is yet to be released
This change in style offers us the chance to create
a promotional package based around the bands
new colour scheme.
4. The Album
The album will be a soundtrack for a rescored version of Pretty In Pink. The album will
be composed entirely of songs written by The 1975. The reason I have chosen this
particular film, is because the band have voiced their love of John Hughes films, and
stated that if there was ever a remake of Pretty In Pink, they wanted to soundtrack it.
The name of the album is most likely to just be called, âPretty In Pinkâ by The 1975.

7. Song Choice
The song I would choose is called âPressureâ, it is an upbeat song with an 80âs feel to
it, which fits the tone of the film. It also evokes a certain imagery that would be
interesting to recreate. The song also has a solid beat to edit to, which would make it
easier.
This song, like many of their songs, doesnât yet have a music video, so there would be
nothing to inspire my music video. However, I see this as a good thing, as it allows for
me to come up with an idea without being influenced by one that already exists.
8. Video Ideas
My video idea is to show the transition from black and white to pastel colours.
Perhaps showing the transformation in the form of a person, showing them and the
world around them changing. I would also include certain artistic shots, that are in
keeping with the 1975âs portfolio and recent videos. They often have videos where
they feature lip syncing and playing their instruments, however, some of their best
videos are in fact the ones that instead have a story.
10. Style of digipack
My digipack is going to be very informal yet artistic. It will feature lots if floral patterns
with pastel tones, mainly pink and blue, with accents of white. It will also feature The
1975s trademark rectangle, which features in almost all of their merchandise, old and
new. This goes with The 1975s new aesthetic and with the theme of the film, and will
mirror some of the shots and ideas used in the music video.
These are the colours that are now featured in their merchandise, so
so they would also be a part of the music video and the digipack.
