Arfa Karim was a Pakistani computer prodigy who became the youngest Microsoft Certified Professional at age 9. She received numerous awards for her achievements in technology from the President of Pakistan. In 2011, Arfa suffered a cardiac arrest after an epileptic seizure and passed away at age 16. She was a role model and inspiration who showed the potential of young people.

2. INTRODUCTION
 Arfa Karim Randhawa ( 2 February 1995– 14
January 2012) was a Pakistani student and a computer
prodigy, who in 2004 at the age of nine years became
Microsoft Certified Professional(MCP), the youngest
in the world until 2008.
 She was invited by Bill Gates to visit the Microsoft
Headquarters in the USA.

 “The Fatimah Jinnah Gold Medal” on 2 august 1995 in the field
of Science and Technology .
 “The Salaam Pakistan Youth Award” again in August 2005 from
the President of Pakistan.
 “President's Award for Pride of Performance”
 Brand ambassador for “Pakistan Telecommunication Company's
3G Wireless Broadband service named EVO” in January 2010.
 The youngest to flew a plane and thus received the first flight
certificate.

5. REPRSENTATION AT INTERNATIONAL
FORUMS
 Represented Pakistan on various international
forums, and was invited by the Pakistan Information
Technology Professionals Forum.
 In November 2006, Arfa attended the Tech-Ed
Developers conference themed Get ahead of the
game held in Barcelona on an invitation from
Microsoft.

6. CARDIAC ARREST
On 22 December 2011 she suffered a cardiac
arrest after an epileptic seizure that damaged
her brain, and was admitted to Lahore's
Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in critical
condition.

7. DEATH
 On 14 January 2012, 16-year-old Arfa Karim
died at Combined Military Hospital Lahore.
 The funeral was attended by the Chief
Minister of Punjab, Shahbaz Sharif. She was
buried at her ancestral village Faisalabad.

8. TRIBUTES TO ARFA KARIM

Computer Lab of Government College of
Commerce is named after her.
IT Media City will be named after her.

9. CONCLUSION
 Arfa karim was a role model for youth.
 Her talent is a testament to the unexplored ,
unrecognised abilities that are within millions
of young people potential that needs to be
tapped.
 She was the pride for the whole world.
