The document provides an analysis of the layout, design, and content of various pages on a wedding planning website. It notes that:
1) The homepage lacks color and images that are conventionally found on other wedding websites, but subsequent pages include more colors, photos, and a cleaner layout.
2) Interior pages contain pastel colors, multiple wedding photos with captions, and limited textual content as is typical for websites in the wedding genre.
3) The images depict various wedding scenes and angles, as well as diverse representations of race, in a light and happy atmosphere that reflects wedding themes and is inspirational.
3. • The layout for the first page isn’t conventional because its
first page doesn’t contain an image. Every other website I
have looked on contains an opening image or video to
attract the viewers attention. I don’t like the way this page
does not contain one. The top has the subheadings to go
onto the hyperlinked pages and is kept neat and tidy
following the conventions of any wedding sources. There
is also an advert but instead of being at the side like the
other website I analysed it is at the top.
4. • There are no colours in particular apart from the website
name being in blue. Personally I think this doesn’t work
as conventionally wedding themed sources have pastel
colours on everything to be more attractive. When
producing my own website I will be making sure there is
more colour on it to attract the target audience viewers.
5. • There is a lot of text in the first page which is surprising
as this is very unconventional. The text is all black which
comes across very boring to me, apart from the website
name. There is a range of fonts and sizes which make it
slightly more interesting but it only distinguishes between
headings and main body text.
6. • The title for the first section on the page is long for the
purpose it has. This is also an unconventional act that the
website has made because short and simple titles catch
the readers eye more. In my magazine website I will be
using shorter and more more catchier wording to reach
out to my target audience. The language used despite
this, would reach out to the general target audience for
wedding sources as it is formal and understandable.
7.
8. • The layout for the first hyperlinked page is much more
interesting and conventional to the wedding genre. This
is because it contains many images in which the home
page did not with short captions beneath to describe the
image sections. It has a heading in the centre above all
the images and is very neatly structured.
9. • The colours in the first hyperlinked page are pastel and
light, being conventional for the wedding theme and
being similar to the other wedding sources I have been
analysing. The colours draw attention to the images and
make the atmosphere of the page lighter and more
enjoyable.
10. • There is very limited text on this page which makes it
more a visual experience rather than a reading
experience, this is good because the target audience
would react better to the images for inspiration and
information about weddings. Despite this, I do feel there
should be slightly more text just to explain the images
and where they go once you’ve clicked on them.
11. • Following on from wanting slightly more text on the
screen, I think short colloquial persuasive language doing
this would be more effective and draw viewers in.
Although too much text in my opinion is boring and loses
the interest of the target audience, I think slightly more is
needed here with words that will grab the readers
attention therefore making the page more interesting.
12. • The images have a range of angle shots and are all
different, making them more appealing and intriguing.
They are all brightly lit and show the traditional
conventions of the wedding genre including costume and
props as well as performance throughout the images.
These reflect perfectly on their own the wedding theme in
which is key for this genre.
13. • The representation shown through the images especially
is happy and light with the mix of different races included
which Chloe and I would like to look into as we feel it is
not approached enough. This magazine website
including this makes it unconventional typically, but it
works very well and is inspirational to other magazines
and those that hold different races to white British.
14.
15. • The layout of this page is very similar to the first
hyperlinked page having many images to draw readers
in, although this page has a search bar making it more
interactive to viewers. It layout is very neat and structured
just like the past two pages and makes it easy to follow
and understand.
16. • The colours are conventional as it sticks to the pastel
coloured theme that matches with the wedding genre,
this are throughout the images and also included in the
search bar and the name of the site. I will be using these
colours when producing my own because I think it works
well and attracts target audience.
17. • There isn’t much text as there are much more photos
making it more visually appealing to viewers, there is
more text than the second hyperlinked page which I think
was needed and so works well. The language that is
used is persuasive and formal.
18. • The images have a range of angles and different settings
as well as atmosphere making it more interesting. They
are conventional because they are wearing typical
wedding attire atire with typical wedding settings and
props. The images are light and stick to the pastel
colours they have in other wedding sources.
19. • The representation of the page and especially the images
is happy with the atmosphere and mood being light,
reflected in the performance of the models and also the
lighting used making it a happier looking image.
