Presentation on using Poll Everywhere MCQs during lectures for self-assessment. From Irene Ctori, division of Optometry and Visual Sciences, School of Health Sciences, City, University of London
2. What I did
• Incorporated short MCQ quizzes into my
lectures
– Sometimes during the lecture
– Sometimes at the end of the lecture
• Delivered via Poll Everwhere
• Anonymous voting used i.e. I did not collect
data on student responses
3. What purpose did I want it to serve?
• To keep interest during lectures!
• To allow students to self-test their knowledge
of the lecture topic
• As a revision aid for MCQs
4. What were the outcomes?
• Students really liked the quizzes and how they
were interactive
• They made positive comments in their module
feedback regarding the quizzes
5. Any lessons learned?
• Good way to invite all students to participate
as is done anonymously and so no
‘embarrasment’ factor
• Keeps students engaged during lectures
• Would highly recommend using Poll
Everywhere!!
