This document summarizes a student's TRIZ competition project on reducing household energy usage. It identifies that rising energy prices and use of electric appliances increases costs of living. The project aims to solve this problem by decreasing costs and environmental impacts by using less energy generation. The problem is defined as reducing power usage without much cost. Root causes are identified as heat loss from air conditioning, dim rooms, and clutter. TRIZ tools are applied to generate solutions like changing wall colors to increase reflectance and reduce illumination needs, rearranging household goods to allow freer air movement, and using thin films on windows to decrease heat transfer and reduce energy usage.
