2. Who is she?
Morgan Le Fay: popularly known
Arthurian sorceress, benevolent fairy,
priestess, dark magician,
enchantress, witch, sea goddess,
shape-changer, healer, and the sole
personage of Avalon the Isle of
Apples, not to mention daughter of
Igraine and Gorlois, half-sister to King
Arthur, mother of Mordred, lady-in-
waiting to Guinevere, wife of Uriens,
lover of Sir Accolon, fancier of Sir
Lancelot, and 'as fair a lady as any
might be'.
3. In the Myths
• Her name “le Fay” is an ancient word for fairy and
Morgan is often portrayed as a powerful sorceress,
to rival even Merlin.
• She is King Arthurs half sister, after King Uther
used Merlin's magic to seduce her mother and kill
her father.
• She got her own back by seducing Arthur and
bearing Mordred who would later kill and depose
his father/uncle.
• Other villainous deeds include; kidnapping Sir
Lancelot three times because she was infatuated,
plotting to murder Arthur and become Queen by
putting her boyfriend on the throne after killing her
husband of course and finally she was the one who
told everyone that Queen Guinevere was having
an affair with Lancelot.
4. What happened to her?
• She was banished from Camelot and ruled over
own marshy lands for many years.
• In some versions her and Arthur reconcile and
she goes back to Camelot and eventually takes
Arthur to the Isle of the blessed to heal him and
her big, final battle.
• Better ending that most of the good guys
got...just saying.
5. Adaptations
• Morgana in BBC’s Merlin starts out good, which
reflects the characters potential for redemption
• In some older film versions Morgan isn't actually
magical but she is Arthurs half sister and pretty
fricking twisted, so they got that right.
• Disney...well its Disney, none of the incest made
it is. And they called her “The Marvellous Mad
Madam Mim”
