Gas Turbine Mechanical Supervisor, ​2006-2012
6 years in Navy while serving in current role mentoring, training, and supervising technicians
conducting preventive and corrective maintenance on gas turbine and gas generator engines,
troubleshooting, fuel oil service and transfer systems, gas turbine generator sets, and associated
support equipment.
Key Achievements:
▪ Emergency repaired and replaced 1B GTM lube oil scavenge and supply pump and replaced
1 GTG shear pins. This resulted in the rapid restoration of the 2 vital engine which enabled
the ship to maintain 100% engineering readiness.
▪ Received ​Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals​for a superior performance
during SRA-08, working countless hours repairing jobs assigned in ships backlog.
▪ As EM02 repair parts petty officer she wrote over 400 maintenance actions and 2000
equipment validations.
▪ Worked diligently to repair 2B GTM Power Turbine Brake and 2 CRP Electro-Hydraulic Servo
Valve to prepare ship for INSURV inspection, which lead to Chung Hoons first ​Engineering
E​.
▪ Gage Calibration technician for number 2 Engineering space. Detected, isolated and
maintained over 300 gages for EM02 workcenter. Install, test and repair field
instrumentation, such as gauges, sensors, indicators and automatic control valves.
▪ Volunteered more than 30 hours to manage staff in completing emergency repairs on lube
oil purifier.
▪ Provided exceptional training resulting in career advancement of 15 team members.
▪ Propulsion Auxiliary Control Console qualified. Responsible for the correct operation and
implementation of engineering operation procedures and casualty control actions of four
LM2500 Gas Turbine Main Propulsion Engines on all former and current twin-screw ship
platforms.
 
Duties and Responsibilities
• ​Inspect and examine machinery and equipment to detect and investigate irregularities and
malfunctions.
• Inspect, service and repair components of the water treatment plant including water intakes,
pipes, water storage vessels, chemical treatment equipment controls,circulation pumps,heat
exchangers and valves
• To perform and participate in the preventive, corrective and troubleshooting mechanical
maintenance activities of the plant equipment including gas turbines, hydraulic system components,
low pressure air compressors, reduction gear clutching assemblies.
• Maintained auxiliary equipment, such as pumps, fans, compressors, filters, fuel, lubricants, air,
and auxiliary power.
• Qualified to control and monitor the Electrical and Auxiliaries and Main Propulsion Plant.
• Read and interpret electrical/mechanical flow and instrument diagrams.
• Aligned and operated drain systems, stripping systems, machinery cooling water systems, oil
systems, and purifier systems
