2. MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
• Conduct scheduled inspections of all mechanical equipment – cranes, mud pumps, drawworks, topdrive,hyd
units, main engine,compressors,water maker,koomy unit, iron rughneck & jacking gear system – of the rig for
all critical parameters and execute routine maintainance jobs.
• Check alignment & condition of couplings, pump shafts, greasing & lubrication, mechanical seal leakages, oil
& water levels where applicable, position of safety guards and all jobs as per schedule.
• Overhaul main & auxiliary engines including dry dock maintenance as per schedules.
• Ensure adherence to all safety and housekeeping rules in the work area.
EQUIPMENT EXPERIENCE
• Main & Auxiliary Engines – Overhaul including disassembly, inspection of main bearing, connecting rod
bearing, pistons & piston rings, cylinder head and fuel pump and replace where necessary. Check and adjust
piston ring butt clearance, fuel pump timing and tappet clearance of inlet & exhaust valves. Supervise routine
maintenance and troubleshoot to resolve problems Makes: Wartsila 6L26A2, CAT 3516 & D 399, Sulzer, MAN
BMW, CAT 3508, Daihatsu 6 DV 26 A, BHP 3000, EMD & Detroit
• Top Drive System (TDS) – Inspect gear box, hoses, couplings, pumps, filters, tanks, vents, tank breathers,
collars, tubing, piping & fittings & pipe handler for abnormalities. Check hydraulic oil & gear box oil levels and
system pressure. Visually inspect all pressure & temperature gauges and instruments. Overhaul & repair of
hydraulic tilt cylinders, hydraulic control manifold, pipe handler & accessories. Model # - Varco TDS-4S, NOV
TDS-8SA, NOV/Hydra lift Power Swivel 750-E-AC 65, NOV/HPS-E-DC-2S-SG, NOV HPS-1000-2E-AC-KT.
• Rig Drawworks – Main hydraulic brake, auxiliary mechanical brake, torque gauge Chronomatic, high & low
clutches. Routine maintenance including checking oil levels and greasing all points. Repair of hydraulic
cylinder in the workshop including assembly of hydraulic hoses. Maintenance of the rotary table and
transmission alignment. Monitor vibration & noise levels. Check & rectify air, oil & water leaks. Maintenance
of service & emergency callipers, checking brake clearance, servicing of hydraulic unit & adjustment of

• Mud Handling System – mud mixing pump, mud agitator with gear box, supercharger pump, de-silter pump,
de-sander pump, trip tank pump and base oil pump: Routine maintence, troubleshooting & overhauling.
Maintenance of barrier gel, bentonite and cement pressure tanks. Overhaul & repair of mud pumps including
disassembly, adjustment of backlash of bull gear, crosshead & bearing clearance. Model # - of mud pumps-3*

• Pumps – Centrifugal & reciprocating piston type, single, double & multistage pumps including pumps with
mechanical seals: Conduct routine maintenance including greasing, checking pump shafts and rectifying
problems through troubleshooting.
• Compressors – Rig & Bulk Air Compressors: Maintenance & troubleshooting
• Brake Cooling Unit Water Pump – Maintenance & troubleshooting
• Cranes – Seatrax & BMC,FAVCO,Le Tourneau,Amclyde model 35000,favelle – Overhaul, maintenance and
troubleshooting
• Iron Roughnecks – Inspection & replacement of pipe spinner & torque jaws, greasing all points, maintenance
of rollers, bearings & hydraulic hoses. Overhauling & maintenance of pipe spinners.
• Air Tuggers (Air Hoist) – Daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly & annual checks to ensure safety of operations.
• Emergency Power Generator with CAT D 399 Engine – Conduct hourly routine checks, check blackout &
alarm systems, putting the generator on & off line and synchronizing, ensuring availability of load for drilling
operations and monitoring engine temperature
• Fuel Oil Separator – Maintenance & troubleshooting
