TECHNICAL
EXPERIENCE
• Accustomed to working from Planned Preventative Maintenance
schedules (PPM) and keeping an up to date computer based maintenance
management system (CMMS).
• Ensured the submarines mechanical systems/equipment have been kept
in good repair by carrying out regular services, maintenance tasks and
repairs. Equipment including: reciprocating compressors, heat
management plants (HVAC), desalination plants, diesel engines, steam
turbines, gearboxes, actuators, reducers, regulators, various types of
pumps and various types of valves.
• Refurbished/overhauled defective equipment identifying and replacing
worn parts where necessary. Also manufactured new equipment
components (using a variety of hand tools/bench drills/grinders/manual
lathes) when spares where not available.
• Trained in pipe fitting and brazing as well as various welding techniques
(MIG, TIG, MMA and Oxy-acetylene).
• Carried out the removal, installation, testing and commissioning of new
equipment.
• Carried out the maintenance and repair on 440V 3phase AC, 115V single
phase AC and DC electrical equipment. Including: generators, motors,
starters, breakers, solenoids and control/instrumentation equipment.
• Used electrical test equipment to identify open circuits, short circuits and
earths on equipment circuits.
• Utilized and understood technical drawings and other engineering
documentation to help with fault finding during breakdown scenarios.
• Developed an excellent working comprehension for health and safety and

competent qualified submariners.
