Final draft- I was lucky enough to get some time with a youtuber new to the scene and he goes by the name of Kharriii. I went straight in with my
first question and asked “Which Gears of War got you into the series? And why?” then he responded with “Gears of War 2 got me into the franchise, it
came bundled with Xbox 360 and ever since then I’ve loved the series”. I personally agree with his response because the same thing happened to
myself and just like Kharriii I’ve loved the game ever since. After reading Kharriii’s response from my first question, I was eager to get on with the rest
of the interview. Moving onto my second question that I asked, “Did playing Gears of war make you want to become a Youtuber?” I was a little
surprised by his response to my second question because generally Youtubers begin their career because of which game they enjoy the most.
Kharriii’s response was “When I first played Gears of War, I never thought about becoming a Youtuber, I just enjoyed it so much I decided to share it
on social media”. Going onto the third question I had a feeling I already knew the answer before he answered due to the response of the first
question. I asked “Which is your favourite Gears of War to date? And Why? Of course, he answered with “Oh Gears of War 2 by a mile, it was my
first one and has such a great and emotional story” and I responded with “I couldn’t agree more”. Swiftly going to the fourth question, “Gears 4 in my
opinion has been a massive step in development for the series, what’s your opinion?” Kharriiis thoughts on my question got me to think a little bit
deeper about Gears 4 and he makes a valid point “I believe Gears 4 was a case of a few steps forwards and a few steps back, it's been improved in
so many ways. However, there’s still some aspects of the game that need to be tweaked or balanced better” I feel what he is speaking behalf in is the
weapon tweaking in multiplayer. Advancing more from that question came my fifth question, “Do you like where the way the story line has been led
through Gears 4 and where it is going for Gears 5? And why?” he eagerly responded with “I think the story was of the best in the stories. With
excellent pacing dialogue and emotional moments that really pulled at your heart. The cliff-hanger ending had me excited to see what Gears 5 will
have to offer” I think Kharriii and I along with the rest of the community can agree with what he has just said and I’m excited to see the official trailer
come out. Getting onto my second last question I wanted to a more important question and that was “Do you agree with how The Coalition have set
out purchasing in game such as packs and Esports content? And why?” I was interested in what he had to say due to the fact this had become a
massive discussion point in most games today. He answered with “I would say I’m not a massive fan of how they laid out in game content as I find it
too close to gambling. However, I believe that paying for Esports packs because the money goes towards the prize pools in tournaments”. I both
agree and disagree with what Kharriii has said but this is a topic that will be discussed many more times from this question. My finally question was
just to touch up on the Esports side of things. I finally asked him “Are you a big supporter of the Esports scene and do you watch any of the
tournaments?” and his final response of the interview was “I enjoy the Esports tournaments when I catch them, you can pick up a lot of tricks if you’re
a casual player and it can really become intense as some stages. The only problem for me is being a UK resident, the time zones normally are never
kind as they are hosted in America”.
I hope this interview has opened your minds to a different train of thought like it has done to mine.

All the other written elements of your fanzine are up to you but should be documented here. If you decide to
write a review, a polemic, an article or anything else, it needs to be documented here.
Drafts are good so it is worth writing a first draft then producing a second which not only checks for spelling and
grammar errors but also ensures that your work has a consistent style, quality and structure.
Recording your research, as and when it happens, is also a very strong idea. If you need to look up a fact or
read an article, record that.
Gears of war 2- Gears of War 2 was developed by Epic Games. Published by Microsoft and released on November 7th 2008 for the Xbox 360. The story line from the first gears carry’s on and
the duo Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago return six months down the line and are hit with a problem. The Locust begin to bounce back from their first crippling defeat and have planned to sink the whole of
Jacinto City (Humanities last stand). So the duo are sent on a mission to prevent the extinction of the human race. Marcus and Dom take Grandlifts to push their way through to the drop zone, where they take
the fight to the Locust. After a hard push, Marcus manage to get down into where the Locus have been recovering and preparing. Just as they descend they run into a new enemy called Skorge. Where
Marcus later on has a massive showdown against Skorge. Once the duo are down there, they run into multiple problems and have to battle through them all. After Marcus and Dom's long journey of killing a
huge monster worm and travelling from hell and back, the squad doesn’t manage to save Jacinto. Even though this happens, the ending leads up for a third game. Whilst going through the story there are
some new faces but also the return of some fan favorites and towards the end of the story you run into the infamous Queen Myrrah for the first time. The story has a lot of ups and downs to it but if you want to
know more, I suggest you go and play it for yourself.
To me, this was the first game I remember really being amazed by. It had all the things I loved Crammed into one disc. This Gears was the first one I had played due to the fact I was pretty young when the
original came out and back then had no interest in gaming. Apart from the Call of Duty obsessions, this game was all that I played over and over without getting bored. I know this wasn't for everyone and I
may have a biased opinion but the game plays extremely well considering the year it came out. The game itself had been developed massively from the first edition, such as the graphics, movement and the
game itself had grown. I didn't play much of the multiplayer side of the game so I can't really give my opinion but if the game developed that much then I can only assume it was a success. But I did play fair
amount of the Horde Mode and I feel that they did a good job of it at the time of the games release. There are 50 waves and as you progress through each level the count of enemies increases and so does
the difficulty. The difficulty increases by the amount of enemies and stronger enemies such as the Brumak. For those who have no idea of what a Brumak is, picture a massive T-Rex with mounted guns on its
wrists and back. Each round you complete the game tally's up and gives you points on how kills you have. Every round there are designated weapons and ammo drops but are at random each round, so you
wont know which weapon will spawn in. The weapons can vary from a mortar or the famous Hammer of Dawn. Some maps are easier to succeed on then other so mix that with what difficulty you want will
determine how well you do. Overall, I think this has been my favorite Gears of War campaign to date.
Gears of war 3- Gears of War 3 was developed again by Epic Games. The publisher was Microsoft and released on September 20th 2011 for the Xbox 360. The story line carry's on from the
second Gears of War. Marcus is reunited with a rearranged delta squad and hit again with a new crisis. The team are lead to believe that most of the Locust are dead after their efforts two years before at
Jacinto and are introduced to the new enemy, the Lambent. What kicks off the story is that Marcus finds out his not so dead father is still alive and being held hostage at secret COG facility. Throughout Delta
Squads journey they discover lots of information involving fellow characters, that the locust aren't completely extinct and that humans can also be turned into Lambent. Just like all the previous games, the
classic carnage and destruction is turned up whilst Delta squad fight their way through wastelands. Whist Delta Squad are on their journey, again they run into lots of intense ups and downs that will really
keep the die hard fans obsessed. To finish off their mission Delta Squad have a massive final battle with the Queen Myrrah. For anyone who hasn’t played the game, I wouldn’t want to give too much away.
So I suggest you go and play the game and find out.
For me, this game was another big part of my of getting me into the full swing of becoming a big fan of gaming. When the game was announced, I was looking forward to seeing where exactly the story will
lead and had no idea of what to expect. In my opinion, Epic Games had done a other amazing job and had improved the game massively. The graphics are cleaner, the movement is smoother and they had
added technical elements to the game. Even though they developed and changed these elements, I could tell they didn’t want to stray too far from the original bass they had built over these few years. All
these elements were an important thing to keep up with due to the growing improvements in those areas. This for me this made the campaign experience a lot more enjoyable and addictive. I began to play
the multiplayer side of things more and I have to say I joined at the right time. I say this because with the new weapons and game modes added this gave a lot more diversity for players and may have even
brought new players into the community. This offered a lot more of enjoyment for players and helped players find their perfect game mode. With the new playable weapons, their were two particular guns that
I wont mention because of how overpowered they were. Moving on, the Horde game mode had been given a new points system where you could upgrade barricades and defenses. This helped players enjoy
the game mode and it defiantly helped it become more popular. A completely new game mode was added called Beast Mode. This was basically a reverse on the classic Horde Mode. You play as the Locust
and Lambent, for each kill you get you earn money and can upgrade to stronger characters to defeat the COG. Each time they release a game they always succeed in making it better with the years and I had
a lot of fun playing this game. GO PLAY IT.

Gears of war 4- Gears of War 4, for the first time was not developed by Epic Games. This edition was produced by The Coalition and the release of the game was on October 11th 2016 . This
game still has the same publisher which is Microsoft and the game was released on the next generation console, Xbox one but also released for the first time for PC. The story takes off 25 years after the
previous Gears edition. This time we see Marcus’s son JD take on an adventure with his long time friends Del and Kait. The story begins with the trio leaving the newly lead COG and join the Outsiders. The
Outsiders are lead by Kaits mother, Reyna and they’re based in a small settlement away from the COG. The trio are almost wanted by the newly lead COG and throughout the campaign they fight against
new COG soldiers called DeeBee's and a new enemy called The Swarm. The Swarm are what the locust have evolved from after they were nearly extinct. Whilst the Scions are more locust, they seem to
higher up in rank then he regular swarm. What really starts the adventure for the Trio is that Rayna gets taken by the swarm after a surprise attack on the settlement. Once she is taken their journey begins,
involving a lot of fights battling through and going into sawm invested areas meeting new enemies he deeper they go. On the groups journey they pick up some familiar faces a long the way to help them out,
such as Marcus, Cole, Sam and Baird. With a very intense last mission, JD ends up fighting a huge swarm boss and you find Reynar. Because of all the hype around Gears of War 5 I don’t want to spoil the
end so for the last time I suggest you GO AND PLAY IT!
This newest edition to the franchise is the game I would say I waste my life on when it comes to gaming. Now I'm a bigger gamer then I was I didn’t pick the game up straight of its release. This was only due
to the fact my head was wrapped up in other game BUT I wish I collected on the 11th. I say this because the coalition have done an amazing job carrying on the gears of war legacy. Even though they have
added in features of their own and their own take on the game the basics are still the classic Epic Games style. The campaign was brought up another level with the graphics looking very clean and cuts
scenes still with the same corny conversations. All of it looks very colourful compared to the other dark shaded games but I did like this change they brought to the series. A new really good feature was added
to this game and it’s the weather. Because of what state the planet is in, there are massive wind flares that appear throughout the campaign and are very realistic. At certain point the weather could kill you in
the middle of a battle or even change the direction of slower firing weapons such as the newly added BuzzKill and even frags. I have to say the ending has had me very excited and combine that with the
teaser trailer for Gears 5 has really drawn me in to the new storyline. The multiplayer side of the game by far in my opinion is the best part of the game. The movement has been made so flexible and smooth
which makes playing the game more enjoyable and in my opinion this to me has been the best movement to date. In the controllers settings if gives you a massive variety to fit your best way of gaming and
what you feel comfortable with. The usual game modes are still in for you to play but for the first time, The Coalition added their take on Call of Duty's Gun Game and called it Arms Race. Both teams have to
get three kills for each weapon to win the game ending on the Boltok. To me its not the most thrilling game mode but still fits in the game as a whole. The feature I really like is the variety of character selection
and finally for the first time you can add a huge variety of camouflages to every weapon not just the Lancer, Gnasher and Snub pistol. The quickest way of earning this in game content is buy getting packs. I
think that The Coalition did a really good job of how the system works when wanting packs. You can either buy them with your own money or grind multiplayer and earn credits which are also used
to purchase packs. This beats any other system when it comes to buying in game content just due to the fair choices given. There is also new cosmetics brought to the game every other months to keep you
grinding and wanting that new character or weapon skin selection. The final part, of course is Horde. This Horde mode brings a fresh taste to the valued game mode and again has the same routes from
previous games but has those slight changes. Horde still has the Fabricator from Gears 3 but is a new version, there are boss rounds every five rounds. Instead of the game collecting the money for each kill,
this time you'll have go collect your currency from the enemy you have just have just killed.

Gears of War 4 Esports- Because of how much I play Gears 4, I began watching and paying more attention to the Esports side of the game. Throughout the release of the game, there has
been multiple events all over America where the best teams and players verse each other and battle it out for a cash prize. The Game Mode that the teams play is escalation and personally it’s a very gripping,
entertaining Game Mode to play or watch. The best way I could explain how it works is that its three different hills like domination from Call of Duty but if all three points are capture you would win the round. It
becomes very competitive, anything could happen and the Game Mode itself has a lot of flexibility because for whoever loses a round the top player gets to place a weapon on the map to try and benefits them
throughout the rounds. To win a game of escalation, a team must win seven rounds and after six rounds the guns reset, then everything starts over. As the rounds go on the death timer is raised which means
further into the first set of rounds the longer it will take to respawn and help out your team. So there are a total of twelve rounds per game and of course this certain Game Mode isn't for everyone because its
geared more towards serious gamer instead of casual players. There are about sixteen pro teams that compete at the big Gears of War Esports events and there are some familiar names such as Optic
Gaming, Echo Fox and EUNited. But not all teams last due to the fact of fall outs and creation of new teams. In each team that competes there are five players and a coach to help out with call outs and
reminders on weapons respawns. The other teams are more related to the gears community and aren’t as well known as the three that I have just mentioned. Apart from Optic Gaming, within Gears the teams
vary in talent due to new teams or coaches and its nice to see the bigger teams struggling against the smaller teams with fewer veterans smaller fan bases. When watching Esports streams, there are normally
some free exclusive skins that you can claim for weapons in the game. I really like this feature and I think it’s a really good way to get the views up, because of all the players that need to collect every skins
available. Then at a pretty penny, there are Black Steel packs that anyone can purchase in the in game store. Unlike the other packs you can buy these packs with real money and cant be earned with in game
currency. So far The Coalition have released 10 packs involving some of the communities favorite characters with a different look to them and with different exclusive weapons skins to go along with the
characters. Even though the packs are expensive all the money goes towards the big events that they hold for anyone to go watch. Then another good thing about the Esports side of things is that some of the
pro teams have in game skins for the Lancer, Gnasher and snub which when you buy anything to show support that money actually gets sent to the teams to help them out. For the rest of the time on Gears 4
and then moving onto Gears 5, I'm looking forward to seeing how everything will progress.

and aren’t as well known as the three that I have just mentioned. Apart from Optic Gaming, within Gears the teams vary in talent due to new teams or coaches and its nice to see the bigger teams struggling
against the smaller teams with fewer veterans smaller fan bases.
In Game Content: When watching Esports streams, there are normally some free exclusive skins that you can claim for weapons in game. I really like this feature and I think it’s a really good way
to get the views up, because of all the players that are collectors and need to collect every skins available. Then at a pretty penny, there are Black Steel packs that anyone can purchase in the in game store.
Unlike the other packs you can buy these packs with real money and cant be earned with in game currency. So far The Coalition have released 10 packs involving some of the communities favorite characters
with a different look to them and with different exclusive weapons skins to go along with the characters. Even though the packs are expensive all the money goes towards the big events that they hold for anyone
to go watch. Then another good thing about the Esports side of things is that some of the pro teams have in game characters or skins. The weapon skins are for the Lancer, Gnasher and snub and when you buy
anything to show support for your favorite that money actually gets sent to the teams to help them out. The money helps fund them as a business or to start a team franchise for the smaller teams. For the rest of
the time on Gears 4 and then moving onto Gears 5, I'm looking forward to seeing how everything will progress and watch the community grow.

  • 6. Final draft- I was lucky enough to get some time with a youtuber new to the scene and he goes by the name of Kharriii. I went straight in with my first question and asked “Which Gears of War got you into the series? And why?” then he responded with “Gears of War 2 got me into the franchise, it came bundled with Xbox 360 and ever since then I’ve loved the series”. I personally agree with his response because the same thing happened to myself and just like Kharriii I’ve loved the game ever since. After reading Kharriii’s response from my first question, I was eager to get on with the rest of the interview. Moving onto my second question that I asked, “Did playing Gears of war make you want to become a Youtuber?” I was a little surprised by his response to my second question because generally Youtubers begin their career because of which game they enjoy the most. Kharriii’s response was “When I first played Gears of War, I never thought about becoming a Youtuber, I just enjoyed it so much I decided to share it on social media”. Going onto the third question I had a feeling I already knew the answer before he answered due to the response of the first question. I asked “Which is your favourite Gears of War to date? And Why? Of course, he answered with “Oh Gears of War 2 by a mile, it was my first one and has such a great and emotional story” and I responded with “I couldn’t agree more”. Swiftly going to the fourth question, “Gears 4 in my opinion has been a massive step in development for the series, what’s your opinion?” Kharriiis thoughts on my question got me to think a little bit deeper about Gears 4 and he makes a valid point “I believe Gears 4 was a case of a few steps forwards and a few steps back, it's been improved in so many ways. However, there’s still some aspects of the game that need to be tweaked or balanced better” I feel what he is speaking behalf in is the weapon tweaking in multiplayer. Advancing more from that question came my fifth question, “Do you like where the way the story line has been led through Gears 4 and where it is going for Gears 5? And why?” he eagerly responded with “I think the story was of the best in the stories. With excellent pacing dialogue and emotional moments that really pulled at your heart. The cliff-hanger ending had me excited to see what Gears 5 will have to offer” I think Kharriii and I along with the rest of the community can agree with what he has just said and I’m excited to see the official trailer come out. Getting onto my second last question I wanted to a more important question and that was “Do you agree with how The Coalition have set out purchasing in game such as packs and Esports content? And why?” I was interested in what he had to say due to the fact this had become a massive discussion point in most games today. He answered with “I would say I’m not a massive fan of how they laid out in game content as I find it too close to gambling. However, I believe that paying for Esports packs because the money goes towards the prize pools in tournaments”. I both agree and disagree with what Kharriii has said but this is a topic that will be discussed many more times from this question. My finally question was just to touch up on the Esports side of things. I finally asked him “Are you a big supporter of the Esports scene and do you watch any of the tournaments?” and his final response of the interview was “I enjoy the Esports tournaments when I catch them, you can pick up a lot of tricks if you’re a casual player and it can really become intense as some stages. The only problem for me is being a UK resident, the time zones normally are never kind as they are hosted in America”. I hope this interview has opened your minds to a different train of thought like it has done to mine.
  • 7. Copy: All the other written elements of your fanzine are up to you but should be documented here. If you decide to write a review, a polemic, an article or anything else, it needs to be documented here. Drafts are good so it is worth writing a first draft then producing a second which not only checks for spelling and grammar errors but also ensures that your work has a consistent style, quality and structure. Recording your research, as and when it happens, is also a very strong idea. If you need to look up a fact or read an article, record that.
  • 8. Gears of war 2- Gears of War 2 was developed by Epic Games. Published by Microsoft and released on November 7th 2008 for the Xbox 360. The story line from the first gears carry’s on and the duo Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago return six months down the line and are hit with a problem. The Locust begin to bounce back from their first crippling defeat and have planned to sink the whole of Jacinto City (Humanities last stand). So the duo are sent on a mission to prevent the extinction of the human race. Marcus and Dom take Grandlifts to push their way through to the drop zone, where they take the fight to the Locust. After a hard push, Marcus manage to get down into where the Locus have been recovering and preparing. Just as they descend they run into a new enemy called Skorge. Where Marcus later on has a massive showdown against Skorge. Once the duo are down there, they run into multiple problems and have to battle through them all. After Marcus and Dom's long journey of killing a huge monster worm and travelling from hell and back, the squad doesn’t manage to save Jacinto. Even though this happens, the ending leads up for a third game. Whilst going through the story there are some new faces but also the return of some fan favorites and towards the end of the story you run into the infamous Queen Myrrah for the first time. The story has a lot of ups and downs to it but if you want to know more, I suggest you go and play it for yourself. To me, this was the first game I remember really being amazed by. It had all the things I loved Crammed into one disc. This Gears was the first one I had played due to the fact I was pretty young when the original came out and back then had no interest in gaming. Apart from the Call of Duty obsessions, this game was all that I played over and over without getting bored. I know this wasn't for everyone and I may have a biased opinion but the game plays extremely well considering the year it came out. The game itself had been developed massively from the first edition, such as the graphics, movement and the game itself had grown. I didn't play much of the multiplayer side of the game so I can't really give my opinion but if the game developed that much then I can only assume it was a success. But I did play fair amount of the Horde Mode and I feel that they did a good job of it at the time of the games release. There are 50 waves and as you progress through each level the count of enemies increases and so does the difficulty. The difficulty increases by the amount of enemies and stronger enemies such as the Brumak. For those who have no idea of what a Brumak is, picture a massive T-Rex with mounted guns on its wrists and back. Each round you complete the game tally's up and gives you points on how kills you have. Every round there are designated weapons and ammo drops but are at random each round, so you wont know which weapon will spawn in. The weapons can vary from a mortar or the famous Hammer of Dawn. Some maps are easier to succeed on then other so mix that with what difficulty you want will determine how well you do. Overall, I think this has been my favorite Gears of War campaign to date. Gears of war 3- Gears of War 3 was developed again by Epic Games. The publisher was Microsoft and released on September 20th 2011 for the Xbox 360. The story line carry's on from the second Gears of War. Marcus is reunited with a rearranged delta squad and hit again with a new crisis. The team are lead to believe that most of the Locust are dead after their efforts two years before at Jacinto and are introduced to the new enemy, the Lambent. What kicks off the story is that Marcus finds out his not so dead father is still alive and being held hostage at secret COG facility. Throughout Delta Squads journey they discover lots of information involving fellow characters, that the locust aren't completely extinct and that humans can also be turned into Lambent. Just like all the previous games, the classic carnage and destruction is turned up whilst Delta squad fight their way through wastelands. Whist Delta Squad are on their journey, again they run into lots of intense ups and downs that will really keep the die hard fans obsessed. When the game was announced, I was looking forward to seeing where exactly the story will lead and had no idea of what to expect. In my opinion, Epic Games had done a other amazing job and had improved the game massively. The graphics are cleaner, the movement is smoother and they had added technical elements to the game. Even though they developed and changed these elements, I could tell they didn’t want to stray too far from the original bass they had built over these few years. All these elements were an important thing to keep up with due to the growing improvements in those areas. This for me this made the campaign experience a lot more enjoyable and addictive. I began to play the multiplayer side of things more and I have to say I joined at the right time. I say this because with the new weapons and game modes added this gave a lot more diversity for players and may have even brought new players into the community. This offered a lot more of enjoyment for players and helped players find their perfect game mode. With the new playable weapons, their were two particular guns that I wont mention because of how overpowered they were. Moving on, the Horde game mode had been given a new points system where you could upgrade barricades and defenses. This helped players enjoy the game mode and it defiantly helped it become more popular. A completely new game mode was added called Beast Mode. This was basically a reverse on the classic Horde Mode. You play as the Locust and Lambent, for each kill you get you earn money and can upgrade to stronger characters to defeat the COG. Each time they release a game they always succeed in making it better with the years and I had a lot of fun playing this game. GO PLAY IT.
  • 9. Gears of War 2- Context: Gears of War 2 was developed by Epic Games. Published by Microsoft and released on November 7th 2008 for the Xbox 360. Storyline: The story line from the first gears carry’s on and the duo Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago return six months down the line and are hit with a problem. My Verdict: To me, this was the first game I remember really being amazed by.

  • 11. Gears of war 4- Gears of War 4, for the first time was not developed by Epic Games. This edition was produced by The Coalition and the release of the game was on October 11th 2016 . This game still has the same publisher which is Microsoft and the game was released on the next generation console, Xbox one but also released for the first time for PC. The story takes off 25 years after the previous Gears edition. This time we see Marcus’s son JD take on an adventure with his long time friends Del and Kait. The story begins with the trio leaving the newly lead COG and join the Outsiders. The Outsiders are lead by Kaits mother, Reyna and they’re based in a small settlement away from the COG. The trio are almost wanted by the newly lead COG and throughout the campaign they fight against new COG soldiers called DeeBee's and a new enemy called The Swarm. The Swarm are what the locust have evolved from after they were nearly extinct. Whilst the Scions are more locust, they seem to higher up in rank then he regular swarm. What really starts the adventure for the Trio is that Rayna gets taken by the swarm after a surprise attack on the settlement. Once she is taken their journey begins, involving a lot of fights battling through and going into sawm invested areas meeting new enemies he deeper they go. On the groups journey they pick up some familiar faces a long the way to help them out, such as Marcus, Cole, Sam and Baird. With a very intense last mission, JD ends up fighting a huge swarm boss and you find Reynar. Because of all the hype around Gears of War 5 I don’t want to spoil the end so for the last time I suggest you GO AND PLAY IT! This newest edition to the franchise is the game I would say I waste my life on when it comes to gaming. Now I'm a bigger gamer then I was I didn’t pick the game up straight of its release. This was only due to the fact my head was wrapped up in other game BUT I wish I collected on the 11th. I say this because the coalition have done an amazing job carrying on the gears of war legacy. Even though they have added in features of their own and their own take on the game the basics are still the classic Epic Games style. The campaign was brought up another level with the graphics looking very clean and cuts scenes still with the same corny conversations. All of it looks very colourful compared to the other dark shaded games but I did like this change they brought to the series. A new really good feature was added to this game and it’s the weather. Because of what state the planet is in, there are massive wind flares that appear throughout the campaign and are very realistic. At certain point the weather could kill you in the middle of a battle or even change the direction of slower firing weapons such as the newly added BuzzKill and even frags. I have to say the ending has had me very excited and combine that with the teaser trailer for Gears 5 has really drawn me in to the new storyline. The multiplayer side of the game by far in my opinion is the best part of the game. The movement has been made so flexible and smooth which makes playing the game more enjoyable and in my opinion this to me has been the best movement to date. In the controllers settings if gives you a massive variety to fit your best way of gaming and what you feel comfortable with. The usual game modes are still in for you to play but for the first time, The Coalition added their take on Call of Duty's Gun Game and called it Arms Race. Both teams have to get three kills for each weapon to win the game ending on the Boltok. To me its not the most thrilling game mode but still fits in the game as a whole. The feature I really like is the variety of character selection and finally for the first time you can add a huge variety of camouflages to every weapon not just the Lancer, Gnasher and Snub pistol. The quickest way of earning this in game content is buy getting packs. I think that The Coalition did a really good job of how the system works when wanting packs. You can either buy them with your own money or grind multiplayer and earn credits which are also used to purchase packs. This beats any other system when it comes to buying in game content just due to the fair choices given. There is also new cosmetics brought to the game every other months to keep you grinding and wanting that new character or weapon skin selection. The final part, of course is Horde. This Horde mode brings a fresh taste to the valued game mode and again has the same routes from previous games but has those slight changes. Horde still has the Fabricator from Gears 3 but is a new version, there are boss rounds every five rounds. Instead of the game collecting the money for each kill, this time you'll have go collect your currency from the enemy you have just have just killed.

  • 13. Gears of War 4 Esports- Because of how much I play Gears 4, I began watching and paying more attention to the Esports side of the game. Throughout the release of the game, there has been multiple events all over America where the best teams and players verse each other and battle it out for a cash prize. The Game Mode that the teams play is escalation and personally it’s a very gripping, entertaining Game Mode to play or watch. The best way I could explain how it works is that its three different hills like domination from Call of Duty but if all three points are capture you would win the round. It becomes very competitive, anything could happen and the Game Mode itself has a lot of flexibility because for whoever loses a round the top player gets to place a weapon on the map to try and benefits them throughout the rounds. To win a game of escalation, a team must win seven rounds and after six rounds the guns reset, then everything starts over. As the rounds go on the death timer is raised which means further into the first set of rounds the longer it will take to respawn and help out your team. So there are a total of twelve rounds per game and of course this certain Game Mode isn't for everyone because its geared more towards serious gamer instead of casual players. There are about sixteen pro teams that compete at the big Gears of War Esports events and there are some familiar names such as Optic Gaming, Echo Fox and EUNited. But not all teams last due to the fact of fall outs and creation of new teams. In each team that competes there are five players and a coach to help out with call outs and reminders on weapons respawns. The other teams are more related to the gears community and aren’t as well known as the three that I have just mentioned. Apart from Optic Gaming, within Gears the teams vary in talent due to new teams or coaches and its nice to see the bigger teams struggling against the smaller teams with fewer veterans smaller fan bases. When watching Esports streams, there are normally some free exclusive skins that you can claim for weapons in the game. I really like this feature and I think it’s a really good way to get the views up, because of all the players that need to collect every skins available. Then at a pretty penny, there are Black Steel packs that anyone can purchase in the in game store. Unlike the other packs you can buy these packs with real money and cant be earned with in game currency. So far The Coalition have released 10 packs involving some of the communities favorite characters with a different look to them and with different exclusive weapons skins to go along with the characters. Even though the packs are expensive all the money goes towards the big events that they hold for anyone to go watch. Then another good thing about the Esports side of things is that some of the pro teams have in game skins for the Lancer, Gnasher and snub which when you buy anything to show support that money actually gets sent to the teams to help them out. For the rest of the time on Gears 4 and then moving onto Gears 5, I'm looking forward to seeing how everything will progress.
