2. Background info
52 people answered my survey
males 32 answered and females 18 answered
There were 10 questions to answerer in the survey a mixture of open and closed questions, most
multiple choice.
This was handed around school, offices and family to create the data I have collected about
media audiences and video games.
3. Occupation
The occupation split was spread out evenly between c, d and e with a few participant's from group b.
You should take this in mind when looking throughout my data.
On average many people from group d and c preferred many
Shooters and sport games while group e was a mix of genres. This could link to the hypodermic needle model as these genres
spoken of where popular in the media with them bringing back positive memory’s.
These fit in the stereotypes about the occupation groups with the young students,
blue collar workers and white collar workers playing games.
the 2 group b participants that answered are slightly older than the
Other generation enjoyed the mobile games like candy crush.

4. Genders, age groups and games
The gender and age groups can be seen on this graph with a few surprising results .
A surprising result is that females within the age groups 35-44 liking mobile games like Candy Crush. This is unlike the
Stereotypes that we have created of the older generations don’t play video games, especially one there phones.
The youngest of the age groups, 12-17, are on trend with the most popular
Games like Fifa and GTA. This is what we would expect from the younger
generation.
I also gathered a lot of data from both genders from the age group of
18-24, these seem more interested on the games they prefer. This could link
To the gratification model as remastered versions of games are reinforcing
There views on which games they prefer.

5. In game purchases
Around ¾ of the 52 people said the games they played had in game purchases.
out of the 39 people that said they had games with in game purchases, all of group e and d said the games they played have in
game purchases.
A question that followed up the questions about in game purchases was have you bought
any if so what?
Here are some responses: “ I regularly buy FIFA points to upgrade my squad.”
“ I once bought DlC to a game”
“I have bought many in game purchases to improve the game.”
These all to seem to be bought by the younger generations we could say that we could
Apply this to the hypodermic needle model as the rise of YouTube and social media has took
Place the media push there advertisements for in game purchases making people buy them.
any in game purchases?
yes no
6. Consoles
As you should know all games must play on some kind of consoles.
As you would expect the two main consoles of the Xbox one and the ps4 have many more users but mobile use is up there as
well.
This was a multiple choice question by the way so people can use more than one.
Again we can say the hypodermic needle model could relate as the mass media push there reviews and advertising on us
making us want to go get the product displayed.

7. How popular is playing games
One of the question proposed is that how many hours do people play a week.
This would show how popular off a pastime it is.
As you would expect the occupation groups of e and d play games more through out the week as nearly half of the 8-10 hour
and the 10 hour + people where in these groups. This is probably because of the occupation groups e and d consist mostly are
comprised of people in the 12-17 and 18-24 age groups

8. Have games ever influenced your life
Many people have responded to this question with no however a few responses have came back.
These are a few: “games have influenced my by the language I use as it’s very descriptive this is
mostly by games.”
“games have influenced me because I have a great reaction time off playing so many video games
this has came in handy in sports that I play like football.”
