1. Q2
How does your media product represent
particular social groups?
2. MY REPRESENTATION
My music magazine represents a social group from
different ethnicity backgrounds that are interested in
R&B. My magazine features top stores including
new world wide tours . I also ensured that my
magazine had features that R&B listeners and
followers can relate to in order to aspire and
recognise this as a trend
3. My product represents a particular social group by
the clothing worn my model and the musical props
that were used to symbolise R&B. The clothing was
a black hat for a cool look with a heart on it to
symbolise passion and love for music and a simple
red jumper. The props used were headphones,
microphone, music stand and a guitar.
4. BODY LANGUAGE
In all of my photos the body language gives of a
sense of bravery and power this allows the
audience to feel very positive, happy and head
strong.
In all the photos the artists are giving direct eye
contact looking straight at the camera lens this then
allows the readers to feel as if they are equivalent
with the artists almost being on the same level as
them as their body language expresses a form of
openness.
5. FACIAL EXPRESSION
In my magazine all the photos give off positive
facial expressions. Two of the facial expressions
that are frequent throughout my magazine is a soft
smiley face and a fierce but strong like face. The
soft smiley face gives off a vibrate feel towards the
audience because they are constantly reminded
with positivity. However the fierce facial expression
would relate to the target audience in many
different ways as it gives off a sense of being
strong.
6. COSTUME
o The costume used within my magazine challenges
the stereotypes of R&B because I have used similar
styles of clothes that represents my target
audience.
o The hat worn by the main artist on the magazine
front cover portrays the target audience as it looks
similar to something they would usually wear.
7. PROPS
The props used within my music magazine were;
Headphones
Guitar
Music stand
Microphone
Microphone stand
These were used to show how realistic the genre of
my magazine is based of music and the artists
8. MODE OF ADDRESS/LANGUAGE USED
In my music magazine I have used particular form
of language to engage my target audience allowing
them to connect with the magazine letting them set
aside their everyday life.
The mode of address used creates a bridge
between my target audience by adding a sense of
communication with the audience and social group
of R&B followers. This is due to the use of Standard
English knowing that anyone who wanted to buy my
magazine would be able to. I also used Colloquial
language because I felt that my magazine would
relate to my target audience a lot more as it starts
within the teens.
9. GENDER
My music magazine is aimed to appeal and attract
17-23 year old males and females. This is because
the majority of people that listen to R&B fall within
this age band.
The female target audience would;
Enjoy keeping up with the latest celebrity gossip
Socialising with friends
Finding out new tour dates
The male target audience would;
Enjoy getting the new upcoming tracks
Celebrity gossip
10. ETHNICITY
In my magazine I used people that have an afro-
Caribbean/ American background. This is because I
decided to go follow R&B is genially represented.
CLASS
I aimed my magazine at working and middle class
making my magazine a suitable price for the age range
knowing that my target audience is from 17-23 year
olds. Not all 17 year olds will have a job as they are not
entitled to the income of an working student. For those
that do part-time or low paid jobs will be able to afford
the magazine due to the low cost.
11. JICNARS SCALE
On the jicnars scale my target audience would
range from C2 to E. This is because C2 are know to
be ‘skilled manual workers’. D: are known to be
semi and unskilled manual workers. E: are known
for being the lowest grade workers.
