1. Subject Area/ Topic Science; Understanding Typhoons
Grade/ Year Level Grade 8
Big Ideas about the topic
The differentiation of typhoon according to their strength and
damage to a community. The safety tips and precautions during, before
and after a typhoon. And the source or how typhoon is created.

typhoon, including following advisories, storm signals, and calls
for evacuation given by the government agencies in charge.

As I’ve visited the school MCSSL they have many available
resources that can be used and appropriate for any grade level. The
materials that can be useful for my topic would be the mobile
projector and the white screen for film viewings and PowerPoint
presentations. Materials that can be made are charts, flashcards,
and pictures.
The skill that helped me prepare the materials is my creativity
because with my creative thinking I can create materials that are
attractive and the same time educational. The skill that I lack would be on
the Technological side or how to use the computer and the internet easily.
Probably the basic strategies like feeding them the information
using the LCD projector. Showing them a video about the topic. Also with
the use of the charts and flashcards. It will showcase different images
about typhoons and all its effects. Evaluating what they’ve learned
through a PowerPoint presenting a short quiz about the topic.
Typhoons are very common here in the Philippines and
information about it is very important and very abundant especially in our
government. Therefore my knowledge with the topic is very helpful for the
discussion of the lesson. I would definitely focus on how to survive and be
safe when a typhoon will come in their area.
3. In fulfilling the task at hand I think the three knowledge should be a
necessity to work together in able to finish a task or to teach a lesson inside
a classroom. My Technological knowledge may not be the greatest but I may
say that I am “literate” when it comes to technological aspects like how to
use a computer, which I acquired during my Ed Tech 1 and IT 1 and 2.
Pedagogical Knowledge which I learned all in my Theories of Learning 1
and 2 and Teaching 1 and 2 helps in the delivery of the materials on how you
will apply it in class. Lastly is The Content Knowledge because if you have
mastered the lesson or thesubject you can easily deliver and apply the lesson
to your learners. All three knowledge should be all sync together so learning
and delivery of a lesson is well executed and helpful for the teacher and the
learners. With all the three applied learning will be active and interesting.
The things that I can do to enhance my technological, pedagogical,
and content knowledge are:
1. Never stop learning. Always take time to read and learn. Including
the lessons you will be teaching in class. Read manuals for using
technological gadgets and how to make and use it properly. Always
have a time to read and memorize important and educational
information that can help you in class.
2. Get inspired. Being inspire and finding an inspiration can help you
gather many ideas for your technological materials or your ED Tech
that you will use in teaching in the future try going to websites like
Pinterest and Tumblr. Loads of ideas that are easily made and
accessible via the internet.
3. Do somethingdifferent. Sometimes teaching inside theclassroom can
be boring to you and moreover the learners. You should find more
strategies in teaching that can help make it interesting and active.
Never be a mediocre type of teacher, learn to explore, experiment new
ways, new strategies. It will give excitement to the learners because
they will expect something active from you as a teacher because
you’re not doing the same thing in class.
4. Involvement of all the senses. Make sure that as much as possible the
five senses are involve in the teaching learning process. Because it
may sound cliché but experience is the best teacher and what more
can define experience than the five senses doing their jobs?
"Active learning"
means students engage with
the material, participate in
the class, and collaborate
with each other. Don't
expect your students simply
to listen and memorize;
instead, have them help
demonstrate a process,
analyse an argument, or
apply a concept to a real-
world situation.
Teaching aids are
useful to:
1. reinforce what you are
saying,
2. ensure that your point is
understood,
3. signal what is
important/essential,
4. enable students to
visualise or experience
something that is
impractical to see or do
in real life,
5. engage students' other
senses in the learning
process,
