11. CONVENTIONS YOU
PLAN TO USE
The locations, I will use to link and relate to the song
that I am going to use
The things I will use to link to specific words within the
song such as different rage of shots and effects, such as
fading in and out effects
I may also use some still images for certain parts of the
song to make some of the words stand out and seem
clearer
13. SUMMARY
5 opportunities of your ideas
Some of the things I want to include in the video are
located in areas which are local
Cost will be reduced due to local areas that I will use
Equipment I can get from college or home to help with
the music video
Won’t really need to use transport apart from going to a
few areas which is easy to get and wont cost too much
I can use the programs I need which are easy to access
through college
14. SUMMARY
5 restrictions to your ideas
Number of crew members
Weather may restrict the location
Cost
Limited days to get transport to go to certain areas
Equipment is limited
15. FINAL IDEA –
ARTIST/TITLE/INFO
Name of track / name of artist - Faded by Alan Walker
Brief biographical background - British-born Norwegian
DJ and record producer. He is best known for his 2015
single "Faded" which received diamond certifications in
Germany and Poland and multi-platinum certifications in
over 10 countries including the US and the UK.
Links to other artists - Marshmello, Avicii, Martin Garrix
Genre info - electronic/ dance, house music, progressive
house
16. FINAL IDEA – TRACK
SUMMARY
Summary/analysis of track [consider meaning, content,
duration, pace and style of the song]
Faded:
Quite a slow pace, that has very little content in the
original music video but I thought I would add a bit more
content and make that extra content link to some of the
words within the song. It also has a bit of loneliness and
mystery in the music video which I intend to keep.
However the genre of the song that I intend to use for
my music video is electronic/dance and house music.
17. FINAL IDEA – YOUR IDEA
Your creative concept/video synopsis [describe your
interpretation, use of imagery or narrative, genre
conventions, etc]
For my final idea of the music video I intend to use a
range of images and some small clips that relate to
certain lyrics within the song. This is because the original
music video is quite simple and basic and doesn't’t have
anything that really relates to a couple of lyrics. I also
intend to add some fading in and out effects to make it
relate more to the name of the song as well as the lyrics
within the song.
19. TITLE OF
PRODUCTION/PRODUCTI
ON OUTLINE
Faded music video:
The song I intend to use for my music video is Faded by
Alan walker, this is quite a slow pace song. So when it
comes to producing the music video I intend to use some
fading in and out effects as well as maybe some softer
effects.
The equipment I will use and intend to use is a camera
from college to use to film some clips within the college
or maybe outside the college. However the cameras from
college are limited so if there is no more cameras that I
can book out, then I will use my phone to do short clips
and some still photos.
I will also do short clips of local areas which will reduce
the cost of transportation for long travel.
20. LOCATIONS
For my music video I plan to use local areas to help
reduce the cost. But the restrictions I may have is the
weather which can then restrict the access to that area.
The area may also be busy which also will restrict the
bits within the area, so I will go and film small short clips
later on in the day so that the area I want to use is
deserted from people.
21. EQUIPMENT
The equipment I intend to use is a camera from college
and to get a camera I would need to speak to my tutor
and fill out a booking kit, to book out the camera for a
certain amount of days. However the cameras at college
are limited so if there are no cameras left to book out, I
will use my phone to film short clips and then transfer
the footage onto a college computer to edit for my music
video.
22. FACILITIES
I will edit my music video at college on the software
premier pro, this is because this software is easier to use
for editing videos and I can add effects to the video
which will help link the clips to the song. I will also use
this software to help improve some of the image quality
and the effects used on the song.
23. PERSONNEL
CREW: The people in my team is myself and maybe a few
other people in and out of college, but I've not decided yet. I
am always available however I don’t know when other people
are available as this can vary due to events and things
happening.
CAST: I may or may not need external performers depending
on what the situation is when it comes to filming.
24. PROPS/COSTUME/ETC
The props I might use are:
Darkened room with small amount of lighting
Photograph
Maybe some LED lights
Rosettes
Necklace
26. PRE-PRODUCTION:
VISUAL PLANNING
This section is concerned with the visual planning of your
music video
You should use this section to develop the sequencing or
your video, establish the relationship between the visuals
and the track itself and create a structure for you to
follow when filming
It is important that you ‘pre-visualise’ the video before
you make it; it will make filming and production a more
streamlined process
The following tasks are part of your visual planning
Pre-visualisation and concept boards
Storyboarding
Shot list
27. PRE-
VISUALISATION/CONCEP
T BOARDS
Tool for exploring the direction and visuals
Provides inspiration and information for the “look & feel”
Presents key moments in your video
A means to sketch/plan ideas
Information on colour/lighting
Defining the “mise-en-scene”
Include as much here as you like, but keep it relevant to the
production, the following slides have been left blank for you
to approach in your own way, add more as you need to
Extension suggestion: edit a short sequence of clips that
have inspired or influenced your video [similar to this:

hunger-games-might-be-better-than-the-real-movie]
28. PRE-VISUALISATION
Info
Lighting – darkened in some parts of the video, maybe LED
lighting
Effects – fading in and out effects
Camerawork – Long shots, close up shots and maybe group
shots
Pace - maybe slightly sped up and maybe increase the
sound in some parts of the video
Genre – electronic/ dance, house music, progressive house
Mise en scene – within the frame
31. STRUCTURAL
BREAKDOWN
Breakdown your track into it basic sections [e.g. intro,
verse, chorus, verse, etc] and apply broad visual ideas to
each section
You can use this as the master template for your
production, then add more shots to each section when
you develop your full visual plan
You should create a slide showing all the sections of the
song, then add a slide for each section with timings,
lyrics, what happens and details on specific shots
You could storyboard and shot list each section as you
go, to break up the process.
32. You were the shadow to my light - start in a dark room with
a glowing human and a different shadow behind
Did you feel us -
Another start
You fade away – image of something/someone and use the
fading out effect
33. Afraid our aim is out of sight – Long shot of a
track in a field
Wanna see us
Alive
Where are you now
34. Where are you now -
Where are you now
Was it all in my fantasy
Where are you now
35. Were you only imaginary – image of something and use a
fading effect
Where are you now
Atlantis
Under the sea
36. Under the sea – image of under the sea
Where are you now
Another dream
The monsters running wild inside of me – a clip of in the air
spinning around
41. But faded lights
You set my heart on fire – something
setting on fire
Where are you now
Where are you now – someone running
to try and find something
42. Where are you now
Atlantis
Under the sea
Under the sea
43. Where are you now
Another dream – short clips of clouds with some
glowing orbs effect
The monsters running wild inside of me
I'm faded
44. I'm faded
So lost
I'm faded
I'm faded
So lost – someone that found something but has been
wearing away due to time or something that happened
I'm faded
48. PRODUCTION GROUP
INFO
Include names, contact info, and defined roles at
difference stages of production, using a table is
suggested
Name Contact Info Stages of
Production
Tegan Not needed Filming
Jessie Phone Background
Ollie Not needed Acting
49. LOCATIONS
Fields behind a block of houses. If the fields are too busy or
flooded due to the weather I will either use the park close to
home, or the fields near college.
College around the corridors or out on the fields. If the
fields are soaked due to the weather then I will film inside
or try and film whent the weather is a bit dryer.
Coast on the hills looking over the cliff side. If the location
is too busy or the weather is too bad to film. Then I will
either use royalty free clips of the coast from a birds eye
view or I will film another day when the weather is a bit
better and I might even use clips from home of the coast if I
cant get another chance to film the coast.
Park two streets down the road. If the park is too busy to
film or its too windy to film using a drone. I will use some of
the clips from home that were filmed on the drone or I will
use a royalty free clip of clouds to help with my music
video.
50. RISK ASSESSMENT
Fields
Risks: Flooding, Busy, Certain areas blocked off, May need
permission for certain areas
College
Risks: Busy, Certain areas blocked off, Field soaked/flooded
Coast
Risks: Weather like rain causes cliffs to be slippy and waves to
become higher and more dangerous
Park
Risks: Busy, May need permission to film within the area, the
area may be restricted, flooded, construction being done on
the area so prevents filming
54. PRODUCTION
RECORD/LOGOn the first week of filming I took
some photos of some stables I use
to be at. To show in the music video
that everything from there has
disappeared and that its not the
same.
Within theses two still photos from
my music video, I filmed in the fields
at a time when it was isolated and
started to get dark. This is because I
wanted the music video so have
some similarity to the original music
video that I chose to remake. I took
these on the last week of filming to
help me complete everything before
my week of editing.
