To Whom It May Concern:
My name is Melinda Boyd, an adjunct nutrition professor at Kaplan University. I am writing on
behalf of Mr. Taylor Restivo, an undergraduate student of mine in Kaplan’s Capstone course in
the Nutrition Science program. During this time Taylor has been dedicated to his studies and
demonstrated his committed desire to learn about nutrition so that he may be a well-prepared
nutrition professional in the work force. Taylor is consistently on time with assignments and
does not hesitate to ask questions when he needs more information or would like to improve
upon his work. My course is very challenging and Taylor has maintained professionalism and
dedication throughout the term. He welcomes constructive criticism and feedback to help
improve and advance in his learning.
Taylor has mentioned his desire to work in the field and has expressed plans to continue on to
graduate school in pursuit of licensure as a Nutritionist. I believe he has the drive to be
successful in reaching this goal, even if it proves to be challenging. I don’t doubt that if he sets
his mind to something he will remain committed until he has achieved what he has set out to do.
This is a desirable trait in an employee, not just as a student. Taylor will likely be a good
employee in a position that challenges him and allows him to interact with others in a way he is
passionate about. A variety of nutrition positions will be a good fit for him, particularly in areas
related to public health. Although the nutrition program at Kaplan may be online without patient
or client contact hours, I think Taylor will be able to pick up these skills on the job and with
proper training. As long as he is offered opportunities for continued learning and skill building,
he will remain successful.
Thank you in advance for your consideration of Mr. Taylor Restivo for this position. If you have
any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at the email address below.
Sincerely,
Melinda Boyd, MPH, MHR, RD
