2. Mise- en- scene
• Audience can see the shot is a home made video with the
way it’s recording – shakes and the film reel on images.
• The lighting is very dark and gives off an eerie feeling
and the fact it flickers adds to the assumption that its
an old homemade film
• When we see the family kicking as they realize they’re
moving up to die its makes audience feel uneasy as the
shot makes it very real and the daunting that they’re
going to die. Also makes the audience emphasize for
them as they died in a cruel twisted way being filmed.
• The area by the sides show mist coming out making the
garden more of an horror scene and scary.

3. Editing
• The shots a continuous scene making it more life like for
the audience to make them feel unease.
• When the family dies the titles appear at the side, the
words sinister at the right hand corner, the audience
understand how sinister the film is considering they’ve
watched someone make a home made murder.

4. Camera Work
• We see a long shot view of a family hanging on off a tree.
The fact only their heads are covered and body
uncovered makes it easier for the audience to identify
this a family due to the height difference.
• Its shot continually in a long shot making it more real
for the audience
• The video has an old filter, audience can guess that this
is an old video with the way it flickers and shakes
• The fact that the camera shakes shows that the
murderer is making a homemade film which is very
haunting and creepy someone would do this and very
disturbing

5. Sound
• When the video starts you can hear the ambient sounds of
the wind, leaves etc. which makes the film more eerie, the
sounds make the audience focus on the surrounding more
• The sound of a saw interrupts the silence and viewers can
sear the eerie sounds which make the video seem more de
someone making their way through the branch of the family
so they can hang. However the fact we cant see this figure
makes the audience suspicious who or what thing is doing
it and wary
• There seems to be a noticeable silence after we haunting
and the silence then leads to the people getting hanged – it
makes it more dramatic
• When we see the family all dead – still – the sounds for a
film reel comes on and we see the title ‘Sinister’ in white,
glowing
