3. Overview of Story
In a world where corrupt cops are as much of a problem as
the criminals that they attempt to catch the police struggle
to keep the city of Los Angeles safe and peaceful. The story
begins with police investigating a murder scene, a common
place at the time, where a mysterious detective enters the
scene. Through
Story Outline
Beginning – tilt down from lamppost to phone box. Medium
to long shot of the phone box with central character inside.
Match on action shot of the character walking out. Close up
of face and turning character as he walks away. Elliptical
editing and transitions will be used to show a jump cut will
be used as the character walks to the crime scene. The feet
will be filmed to show that the character is staying on the
same road (at this time the group will move to a new
location while keeping the setting the same). There will be
ambient sounds with a slight hint of a jazz soundtrack. The
lamppost will provide adequate lighting at night.
Middle–The detective continues along the road towards the
crime scene along the sea front where elliptical editing will
be used. The jazz that was previously used will be
incorporated in this piece along side the ambient sounds of
the coast in order to form a sound bridge. At one point the
detective stops in order to have a cigarette on the coast, this
shows his darker side. As the detective approaches the crime
scene there will be police tape and the light and diegetic
asynchronous sirens of a police car.
End – As the police detective investigates the crime scene he
sees a knife nearby and a dead body on the floor. When
checking the crime scene we see the detective take the
corpses wallet and remove the money from it without doing
the stereotypical police thing to do, which is to check the ID,
this will be done through the use of adjusting the focus. After
4. this the supervisor for his inappropriate behavior will
discipline the main character. At which point the detective
will walk away and light a second cigarette after throwing
his police badge into the nearby water.
