The legends of Zelda: The minish cap
The Minish Cap is a fully explorable fantasy land called hyrule. U follow a boy called link as the
protagonist through hyrule. The game is one game within a series of Zelda games. This game
features an antagonist called Vaati as the game's main villain. However, unlike the multiplayer focus of
the other games in the series, The Minish Cap retains the original form of exploration and dungeons as
seen in A Link to the Past and the Oracle series, as well as returning characters and game mechanics
such as Malon and the Spi Attack.
Genre/setting/gameplay
The genre of this game is close to
fantasy as it includes a middle age
setting and non existing creatures such
as the minish. To add into the fantasy
genre they also have a set of weapons
and shields including potions and
bombs. The game also have a
adventure aspect as the game is all
about exploration though dungeons
and forests. The game is a dungeon
crawler as u have go through different
areas like a dungeon and collect loot.
The game has a lot of puzzles included
to it either open doors and passages
or to defeat enemies and bosses.
Studio
The studio as a very popular
company making various
iconic games such as Mario,
Pokémon, Kirby, Metroid and
including the Zelda games.
Many of these games started
as pixelated game as the
studio is a very old company
making game consoles like the
NES, SNES and the Gameboy
and then going on to make 3d
consoles such as the n64,
game cube, wii and wii U. you
could say The Legends of Zelda
is one of the first open world
game with such little pixels.
Angle
The angle of the game in birds eye view which a very popular
type of angle which are in such games like Pokémon, diablo
and final fantasy. You get to see the character from the front
and above.
Colours
The game has a great use of colour going in depth with each
scenery by making the safer areas have bright colours and lots
of green giving a positive vibe. The also works with dungeons
as they have a more darker toned look giving sign of
suspicion.

Pokémon: Fire-Red
Pokémon Fire-Red Version is an enhanced remake of the original Pokémon Red and Blue video games,
which were released in 1996. the reason I am not going to research the originals is because they are very
low in quality as it very less pixels and no colour at all. The new titles were developed by Game Freak and
published by Nintendo for the Game Boy Advance. It takes place in a fictional region of kanto playing as
the protagonist called red. Your job is to capture and battle Pokémon in an open world RPG game. The
story also includes the antagonists called team rocket who try to steal Pokémon and use them as slaves
or other bad purpose.
Genre/setting/gameplay
The world is a very fictional world
which includes both fantasy and sci-
fi as it has a futuristic setting but
with fictional creatures called
Pokémon. The reason why it is sci-fi
and not modern is the technology
they use such as pokeballs which
digitalises and capture Pokémon.
They also have a pokedex which
scans a certain Pokémon and gives
you information about it. The game
also have a adventure aspect as the
game is all about exploration though
dungeons and forests. The has some
puzzles but not many. The game is a
turn based game meaning

first monster turn based rpg game so
it was very unique at the time.

bright positive colour.

Super smash bros
This game is a fighting game that collaborate all Nintendo characters which is
very fun for the fans. The point of the game is to launch the other player off the
stage to gain point. The more you get hit the more knock back u get. They have
made many games which are compatible to the certain console. Every
character has their own set of moves which makes the game more unique and
different.
Genre/gameplay
The game doesn’t have a
certain type of movie genre as
it collaborates many Nintendo
characters which each have
their own genre however the
game is an arcade type game as
it doesn't have a real story as it
is a fighting and most people
would either compete or gain
points. It is very different to
other fighting games as the
goal isn't to take down the
enemy's health but rather
launching theme out of the
arena .

super smash bros did not
start as a pixelated game
but did start as a 3d game.
It started the unique
fighting system to launch
players off the ring.
Angle
The angle is a side view of the game which is used for most
fighting games like street fighter, mortal combat and tekken. It
makes sense because its clearer to see what to do. This game
can zoom in and out depending on how close or far the
characters are. colours
The colours are very random as the game includes different
characters which have their own maps with different colour
schemes to suit the character however they do include maps with
flashing colours to confuse people playing. This is quite bad as
some people may have epilepsy which brakes an ASA codes.
Research Analysis
• What common features do the researched
products have?
– All the products I have researched are all created by Nintendo as they was the most popular gaming
company when they released the NES and the SNES which both play pixelated games however my last
existing product is 3d and only playable on the N64.
– They are all child friendly products which follow the ASA codes. They do this by making the colours bright
and safe colours. They don’t add graphic scenes such as gore however it can convince violence as they do
have fighting in all the games.
– Both the rpg games have dungeons full of enemies which are very popular in rpg games special over head
games like final fantasy.
• What aspects of the research will you include
within your on work?
• I will add the over head concept from the Zelda and Pokémon game for the exploration as it is very easy to
make an immersive game with pixels as its simple. These types of games are mostly in pixel RPG’s because
it’s an open world type genre and over heads are the best way of doing that in pixel form.
• However when the game goes into battle mode the game will change into a fighter just like super smash
flashes side view. It wont be a turn based game like Pokémon and not and not sword fight like Zelda.
• I will follow the ASA codes just the games as I want it to be child friendly. I will add bright colours and no
offensive language however I will ad violence but not graphic violence.
Audience
Audience Profile
Category Demographic Content to appeal to this audience
Age Range 10-20
• I will be targeting a younger audience with a simple
story and learnable combat system.
• The colours and language will be kid friendly.
• The game will get difficult with would appeal to an older
audience.
Gender Boys and girls
• The protagonist is customizable with gender selection so
that both genders can play with a relatable character.
• The game will be action pack with a dramatic story that
will suit with the characters gender and actions.
Psychographic Emulator
• This will be very competitive and difficult which would
consist of skills which I think emulators would be
attracted to as so would find success on completing the
game
• They show and share there success with their peers.
Social Status AB,C1,C2,DE
• My game should be for everyone as it doesn’t target job
related people. My game is mostly for students however
anyone can play it.
• My game will only target peoples interests such as
people who like rpg games not jobs.

Many of these games started as pixelated game as the studio is a very old company making game consoles like the NES, SNES and the Gameboy and then going on to make 3d consoles such as the n64, game cube, wii and wii U. you could say The Legends of Zelda is one of the first open world game with such little pixels. Angle The angle of the game in birds eye view which a very popular type of angle which are in such games like Pokémon, diablo and final fantasy. You get to see the character from the front and above. Colours The game has a great use of colour going in depth with each scenery by making the safer areas have bright colours and lots of green giving a positive vibe. The also works with dungeons as they have a more darker toned look giving sign of suspicion.
  • 3. Existing Product Pokémon: Fire-Red Pokémon Fire-Red Version is an enhanced remake of the original Pokémon Red and Blue video games, which were released in 1996. the reason I am not going to research the originals is because they are very low in quality as it very less pixels and no colour at all. The new titles were developed by Game Freak and published by Nintendo for the Game Boy Advance. It takes place in a fictional region of kanto playing as the protagonist called red. Your job is to capture and battle Pokémon in an open world RPG game. The story also includes the antagonists called team rocket who try to steal Pokémon and use them as slaves or other bad purpose. Genre/setting/gameplay The world is a very fictional world which includes both fantasy and sci- fi as it has a futuristic setting but with fictional creatures called Pokémon. The reason why it is sci-fi and not modern is the technology they use such as pokeballs which digitalises and capture Pokémon. They also have a pokedex which scans a certain Pokémon and gives you information about it. The game also have a adventure aspect as the game is all about exploration though dungeons and forests. The has some puzzles but not many. The game is a turn based game meaning Studio The studio as a very popular company making various iconic games such as Mario, Zelda, Kirby, Metroid and including the Pokémon games. Many of these games started as pixelated game as the studio is a very old company making game consoles like the NES, SNES and the Gameboy and then going on to make 3d consoles such as the n64, game cube, wii and wii U. Pokémon is the first monster turn based rpg game so it was very unique at the time. Angle The angle of the game in an over head vview which a very popular type of angle which are in such games like Zelda, Diablo and final fantasy. You get to see the character from the front and above. Colours The game has a great use of colour going in depth with each scenery by making the safer areas have bright colours and lots of green giving a positive vibe. The also works with dungeons as they have a more darker toned look giving sign of suspicion. More evil Pokémon get darker colours while other Pokémon a have a bright positive colour.
  • 4. Existing Product Super smash bros This game is a fighting game that collaborate all Nintendo characters which is very fun for the fans. The point of the game is to launch the other player off the stage to gain point. The more you get hit the more knock back u get. They have made many games which are compatible to the certain console. Every character has their own set of moves which makes the game more unique and different. Genre/gameplay The game doesn’t have a certain type of movie genre as it collaborates many Nintendo characters which each have their own genre however the game is an arcade type game as it doesn't have a real story as it is a fighting and most people would either compete or gain points. It is very different to other fighting games as the goal isn't to take down the enemy's health but rather launching theme out of the arena . Studio The studio as a very popular company making various iconic games such as Mario, Zelda, Kirby, Metroid and including the Pokémon games. Many of these games started as pixelated game as the studio is a very old company making game consoles like the NES, SNES and the Gameboy and then going on to make 3d consoles such as the n64, game cube, wii and wii U. super smash bros did not start as a pixelated game but did start as a 3d game. It started the unique fighting system to launch players off the ring. Angle The angle is a side view of the game which is used for most fighting games like street fighter, mortal combat and tekken. It makes sense because its clearer to see what to do. This game can zoom in and out depending on how close or far the characters are. colours The colours are very random as the game includes different characters which have their own maps with different colour schemes to suit the character however they do include maps with flashing colours to confuse people playing. This is quite bad as some people may have epilepsy which brakes an ASA codes.
  • 5. Research Analysis • What common features do the researched products have? – All the products I have researched are all created by Nintendo as they was the most popular gaming company when they released the NES and the SNES which both play pixelated games however my last existing product is 3d and only playable on the N64. – They are all child friendly products which follow the ASA codes. They do this by making the colours bright and safe colours. They don’t add graphic scenes such as gore however it can convince violence as they do have fighting in all the games. – Both the rpg games have dungeons full of enemies which are very popular in rpg games special over head games like final fantasy. • What aspects of the research will you include within your on work? • I will add the over head concept from the Zelda and Pokémon game for the exploration as it is very easy to make an immersive game with pixels as its simple. These types of games are mostly in pixel RPG’s because it’s an open world type genre and over heads are the best way of doing that in pixel form. • However when the game goes into battle mode the game will change into a fighter just like super smash flashes side view. It wont be a turn based game like Pokémon and not and not sword fight like Zelda. • I will follow the ASA codes just the games as I want it to be child friendly. I will add bright colours and no offensive language however I will ad violence but not graphic violence.
