Papers Please is a
dystopian future where
everything requires a
form of pass to enter a
country.
The entire game is
made via pixels
which makes the
game way less
demanding than
other engines.
Each character is
made different
just with
similarities, so
that there is
variation
between every
character.
The game was inspired
by the Argo and Bourne
films. It was also
inspired by the creators
travel to japan as he
had similar experiences.
All of the assets
created
individually
which makes
the game way
more intricate
for a pixel
game.
People watch this game because of its mass following and
the depiction of the future, maybe even the near future.
3. Existing Product
This product is a very
similar concept, but
with terraria it has a
more mythical
experience to the
game as there are
many bosses that are
very non-existent.
People enjoy this game
as its not as complex as
some games are but
there is still challenge
and ways to express
creativity with building
and crafting.
The UI is clearly kept out
of the users vision to give
the player a better, more
viewable experience of
the game.
In the game there are
many randomly
generated areas
which make exploring
even more fun
because you never
know what you’ll
find.
All of the assets for the
game are solely made for
the creators by the
creators which make the
game more immersive.

Super Meat Boy is
a side scrolling
plat former,
which is based at
teenager>.
The game is level
based with
individual bosses
per chapter.
People enjoy this
game because it
was really the
first notable
frustration game,
which makes
people want to
win, which
attracts more
players.
The assets are made
individually and there is
level designers for people
to really challenge
themselves.
The differences to my
game are that this is not
a exploration game &
also the time frame is
polar opposite.
The sound design is very
intricate as every sound
made for the game is
made to immense detail.
5. Research Analysis
• What common features do the researched products have?
– All of the researched games are pixelated games.
– Each game has original assets for everything.
– All of these games have there own story behind them
making the players experience different for their own play
through.
• What aspects of the research will you include within
your on work?
– Mostly I will used concepts from Terraria because this
game is the most similar, so the art design will be very
similar just with different colour schemes.
– The characters will be all unique & tailored to the user
experience.
7. Audience Profile
Category Demographic Content to appeal to this audience
Age Range 7+
• The game would have mild violence but
would only be pixelated so it could be
classed as acceptable to slightly younger
audiences.
Gender All Genders
• The game will include different characters
which will not be based on stereotypes.
Psychographic Balanced
• It should appeal to all psychographic
audiences but it would appeal to a balanced
person most because the game is based on
human survival and its upbringing.
Social Status Lower Class>
Middle Class<
• This game is made for a time where no
social status is rendered but it would be
best for lower class to middle class because
its style is a little underwhelming to high
classed audiences.
