Highly Effective Teachers
written by Jacquie Turnbull

INTRODUCTION
Published by Contiuum International
Publishing Group The Tower Building,
11 York Road, London SE1 7NX 80
Maiden Lane, Suite 704, New York, NY
10038
THEME
This entire work deals with the theme of
empowering the teachers with some practical
habits through which the teachers surely can gain
the proposed destiny and dignity in the field of
teaching.
Whereas, the same attempt provides aid to the
students in the shape of active and effective
teachers who can guide them more sincerely and
considerably as compared to any other component
of the society.
ABOUT THE AUTHOUR
Jacquie Turnbull has been performing her duties
as an HE lecturer, special trainer to help the
teacher in achieving improvement in personal and
professional potency, and a secondary teacher.
Presently, she is active in the General Teaching
Council for Wales as a Deputy Chair as well as
Chair of an FE College.
SUMMERY
 The book entitled as 9 Habits of Highly Effective
Teachers is a marvelous attempt by Jacquie
Turnbull.
All the nine habits are divided into three parts:
Managing Yourself
Engaging with others
Spreading the influence
Part I: Managing Yourself
Thinking for Yourself
Laying the foundation of Confident
Performance
Taking Action on stress
Taking Your Time
Part II: Engaging with others
Establishing creative Rapport
Attentive Listening
Practising the Behaviors of influence
Part III: Spreading the influence
Influencing leadership behaviors.
Extending the influence.
CRITICAL ANALYSIS
Merits:
For the sake of prosperity and betterment, perfection is
needed in every field of life.
Perhaps, the writer had this fact in her mind and the
outcome can be seen in the shape of the book 9 Habits of
Highly Effective Teachers which provides a practical
guidance to empower the teacher with the capacities via
whom he can adorably pursue the profession.
The content of the text is unique in itself as well as helpful.
In fact, the nine mentioned habits ascertain complete
guidance with entirely easy description for those who
intend to perform extraordinary status in their respective
field.
Demerits:
The title page of the book is not attractive.
Font size of the book is very small.
There is no single picture in the book to make it more
attractive.
The language of the book is so difficult.
There is no glossary which helps the reader to
understand difficult concepts.
Price of the book is not mentioned. Only Bar Code is
labeled.
RECOMMENDATIONS
There should be an attractive title page of the book.
The font size of the book should be suitable and there is a need to
extend the line spacing.
Relevant and attractive pictures should be added along with each idea.
There is need of easy language in the book and glossary should also be
there.
The price of the book should be mentioned in figures along with Bar
Code.
CONCLUSIONS
Teachers are presented to be the mentors for the
students who commendably try to follow them to
become as confident, respectable, and well-known as
they see their teachers.
Apart from this, the teacher must have some patience
to listen to his students carefully so that this practice
may help build confidence in them.
Conclusions
Along with it, he must have leadership qualities to
distinguish himself from others and furthermore, that
influence should not be preserved to a certain limit of
the audience of the group.
All the nine habits mentioned in this book enable a
teacher to build the skills of self-control, self-
management, and self-recognition to perform his due
duties in the field of teaching and preparing the
students for future challenges via taking up these skills
and habits.
