Challenges
• The European Digital Single Market is multilingual

• Human translation is too expensive and too slow for the
volumes and content types

• To make public digital services equally accessible to EU
users in the language of their choice/country/region
• To facilitate cross-border, cross-language information
exchange in public administrations

What kind of data can help?
• Bilingual data in any format
– TMs, parallel documentation, terminologies, parallel and
monolingual corpora, online data, electronic files or all
formats, and so on
– IP and security issues can be addressed and solved
– Does not need to only be of government/administrative
relevance to be useful

• Ministries, government and public service organisations
• Language Service Providers (LSPs)
