[June 2003– Tilldate] Pakistan Revenue Automation (Pvt.) Ltd. Manager Infrastructure (south)
Pakistan Revenue Automation (Pvt.) Ltd. – PRAL is an IT Wing of Federal Board of Revenue
[FBR], Govt. of Pakistan. PRAL deals with all Data Center and IT operations of FBR. My role as a
Manager Infrastructure (south) includes the following responsibilities.
Designed 02 Core Datacenters Infrastructure from the ground-up with N+1 internal and 2N
external redundancy (KHI & ISB) which includes high-tech power solutions with load
calculation, ultra-modern cooling solutions, access-control monitoring and alarming,
Infrastructure management through smoke/leak detection through VESDA , structured cabling,
Total Flooding Fire Suppression System – FM200 with NOC command console. These
datacenters are designed keeping in mind the new technology of GREEN (Energy
E f f i c i e n t ) Datacenters. The project is compleated su c c essf u l l y t h ro u g h TARP,
funded by World Bank.
Managed and developed electrical infrastructure with N+1 external redundancy at 03 core
locations for existing WAN of FBR namely Karachi Customs House (02 data centers), RTO
Lahore and PRAL H/O Islamabad (1 datacenter each) using state-of-the-art electrical
devices and other peripherals. In-parallel deployed electrical infrastructure at 60+ sites of
south region for FBR nationwide deployment of WAN. The project is being funded by World
Bank with 160+ sites nationwide through Tax Administration Reforms Project – TARP, Lot
6 – UPS & Power Infrastructure.
Worked with network team by assuming the role of team lead in designing One FBR WAN
Comprising of 03 Core Locations with 180+ remote locations. Designed One FBR WAN’s
Terrestrial RF Links using 3.5 GHz licensed frequency spectrum for Core/Access MAN sites, 5.8
GHz ISM band for Distribution sites, SCPC VSAT as a backup for core and distribution sites,
DVB-S2 for Access remote sites. Responsible for bandwidth analysis/calculation between Core
and Distribution/Access sites with intercity backbone connectivity on fiber optics as a
primary media with termination on SDH with backup on backhaul microwave links. The
project is already published and under bids evaluation process through TARP, funded by
World Bank.
Designed and deployed Pakistan Customs Karachi MAN comprising of 28+ locations in
Karachi for Pakistan Customs on-line clearance of cargo / goods through One Customs
Application using P-to-P and P-to-MP RF Links.
Designed and deployed One RTO Network comprising 20+ locations nationwide enabling
Income Tax, Sales Tax and Federal Excises departments of FBR to connect with an online
application of Tax Management System for an efficient processing of Tax submissions and
refunds process with e-Filling of tax returns.
Designed and deployed FM200 Clean Agent – Total Flooding Fire Suppression System for
Customs Datacenters in Karachi. The system has been successfully deployed in PaCCS and
WeBOC Data Centers.

operational applications, systems, network and processes. Nurture relationships and
communications with other in -house teams, ISPs/Carriers, key infrastructure vendors to
improve the overall image of PRAL/FBR.
Other responsibilities include Technical RFI & RFP preparation for network/IT infrastructure
design, Tender processing as per World Bank/Govt. of Pakistan rules & regulations, technical
and financial bids evaluation and procurement, implementation strategy, test plans and
written specification documents to ensure consistency with project road map. Networks and
Infrastructure department managing the IT Operations which includes country’s Customs, Income
Tax, and Sales Tax Systems. This includes the technical support and deployment of all corporate
business systems required for the smooth operation of business. This also includes planning and
management of related corporate system environment; design, acquisition, installation,
operation, system administration and maintenance of corporate hardware and related operating
systems. Also significantly contribute to the establishment and update of the overall company IT
strategies and direction.
Manage various Infrastructure development activities such as participation in business
requirements identification and design, analysis of user requirements, assessment and
evaluation of readym ade solutions to users’ automation needs, and implementation of
such solutions. This includes supervising feasibility studies, liaising with users throughout
such studies to define their systems requirements, reviewing and endorsing implementation
plans, overseeing assessment and evaluation of server hardware and software solutions,
endorsing and presenting appropriate solutions in the form of recommendations, preparing
solutions specifications, relevant technical scope for tendering, and exercising overall project
management responsibilities during major system implementation projects.
Other responsibilities include day -t o-day operations and supervision of One Customs, provide
leadership and direction for the Infrastructure Operations Team in all regions (20) cities related to
day-to -day operations, project prioritization and management with quality of work.

[Nov. 2000 – Oct 2003] United Bank Limited (UBL). Head Office E-Coordinator.
Worked in UBL Head Office for online banking as the Project Coordinator. Coordinate
extensively w i t h Nortel Networks and Apollo Telecom for the implementation of nationw ide
network connectivity. Worked with M/s Clipsal for IT infrastructure management of 56
branches in pilot project. Manage staff and overall Infrastructure operations to ensure stable
operations. This includes developing, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing key functional
areas, particularly Power infrastructure, network infrastructure, servers, data
communications, and telecommunications systems.
Deployed electrical infrastructure at 60+ sites in pilot project of UBL nationwide
deployment of WAN. Manage major implementation projects leading to new IT systems
implementation and support for all 100 plus locations. Act as implementation lead, advisor,
coordinator and focal point for all IT application activities on a country-wide basis. Take part
in various special project teams and groups, steering committees involved in major IT systems
implementations within the country.
Design IT strategy and systems for all locations. Participate and undertake various work related
activities such as the preparation of weekly and monthly reports, projects reports, objective
status reports, staff appraisals, and tender documents, and coordinate corporate systems
support activities with other IT sections.
Prepare design, scope of work, road- maps, implementation strategy, implementation plans,
