2. My goals with this revision
● Make the post’s overall tone more informative and less like a
persuasive essay
● Add visual aids that might enhance the reading experience
● Include more research and references to make the writing more
credible
● Fix any small issues that may have been missed the first time
3. Some major revision I made...
● Added a section titled “Does data tracking have any benefits?” that
talks about the potential benefits of data tracking
- This addition addresses an issue with my original post, being that my
writing was almost entirely against data tracking instead of looking at all
sides of the argument.
● Added a section titled “What does the public think?” which talks about
the public opinion on data tracking
- By adding this section, I was able to include more references to make my
post more credible.
4. Some smaller, but just as important, changes...
● Added pictures and infographics to help potential readers gain a better
understanding of my claims and to make the post more visual
engaging
● Expanded the introductory section titled “A brief background” to
include information on government tracking that I talked about later in
the post
● Expanded the conclusion section titled “How can you protect
yourself?” to include more survey data to support my suggestions
● Fixed grammatical errors in all my original paragraphs that missed the
first
5. What I did differently this time...
I put a lot of time into researching deeper into the topic because I realized a
large portion of my original post was just opinion without any sources to back it
up. The biggest challenge I faced was that I sort of lost the intention behind why I
chose personal data tracking for Digital Culture in the first place. My post
focused heavily on why data tracking was harmful and how you can protect
yourself. But, with the more research I did, the more I started to see the benefits
of it. It really changed my perspective and I think helped me build a more well-
rounded post. I did leave a lot of my original writing though because I think it,
paired with the new sections, gives a good representation of both sides of the
argument.
