2. • I created some merchandise using a website called
www.spreadshirt.co.uk
I thought it would be a great idea to feature merchandise on our
website and 'Instagram' to make the artist seem more realistic
and also create a brand image for her.
I revolved most of the products around Faiths first album 'Dark
Fantasy'. This is because the tour dates are timetabled, so I figured
it would be a good plan to encourage fans to wear the
merchandise to the tours.
I aimed most of the products towards 15-25 year old females, as
this is the target market.
We figured that younger girls would love the image of Faith and
the beat of her 'electro pop' songs, whilst older girls would love
listening about love and reminiscing on the experience of
heartbreak that Faith likes to sing about.
The website gave me an option of what merchandise I wanted to
use. It ranged between mugs, phone cases, t shirts, skirts, under
wear and so on.
So I narrowed down the most suitable. I eventually created 5
items; 2 t shirts, 2 phone cases and 1 beanie hat. Each item was
designed for its own purpose.
3. The two t shirts I created are both very alike, however very dissimilar in many ways.
The acid wash grey one was created for people alike Faith that are rock chicks and like the dark colours and skulls. The reason why I chose to
feature a skull with angel wings is to demonstrate the oxymoron 'dark fantasy' which is linking bad and good. Therefore I imagined that by
mixing the innocence of angel wings and evilness of a skull, it would do exactly that. The t shirts are both fitted and tight. The white one is
more of a concert t shirt for fans, however the darker one can be worn around town or with casual outfits on normal days.
The white t shirt clearly displays Faiths name, and also the album name. The diamond also portrays an image to represent dark fantasy,
because it is a huge diamond, that is seen to be beautiful, dripping with thick blood, which is typically mean to represent evil.
The acid wash t-shirt is created using a longer process that involved tie dye and a lot of work to ensure the colours contrast, so i have priced it
up to be sold at £26.99. However the white t shirt is just a basic plain t shirt, so I have priced that one up at £23.99. I think both prices are
generally reasonable for our target market, it just depends what the buyers intentions are.
4. The phone cases are created to fit both IPhone 4/4s and IPhone 5. We are aware that the IPhone is the
most current phone at the moment, so have ensure that we meet our customer needs as efficient as
possible. I have kept the purple, black and white colour scheme that we have persistently used throughout
our website. The phone cases have been designed to revolve around hearts, which resemble love. I've
used block letters at the bottom saying 'Faith' because it can have a double meaning. Fans who love Faith
will buy this product to show their support, however it can also be used to illustrate a persons feelings and
faith in something that they might be doing. I designed the purple and pink heart phone case to begin
with, however I thought I should create a second one for people who aren't a fan of the colour purple, or
who don't enjoy using products that are detailed. The Iphone cases are priced as £12.99.
5. This is the beanie hat. I have recognized
that the beanie hats are in fashion at the
moment. We are in winter and Faiths first
tour dates are set to be around February,
so the hats will be suitable for the
weather for a great amount of time. I
used the words Dark Fantasy, because I
think its a really good oxymoron, its
different and individual, and its the name
of the album. Dark fantasy can have a
number of meanings, its all dependent
on how you interpret it. The reason why I
chose the black and white colour duo is
because Faiths image is dark and quite
'rock chick' so it blends well with the
design of the website and also the genre
of the album. This hat is unisex so it can
be worn by males and females. I am
going to put it on the website to be sold
at £14.99.
