3. 1. Balance
• Balance can be describe as when both sides of
composition(drawing, art work, picture) show
same weight.
• Balance can be symmetrical or asymmetrical.
• Symmetrical balance is when both side of
composition(drawing, art work, picture) had
equal weight on either side.
• Asymmetrical balance is when both side of
composition has not equal weight on either side.
• Balance can be created by using different
elements and principles of design.
6. 2. Unity
• When a composition shows oneness.
• In unity it feels like the whole work in a same
composition works together.
• Unity can be created by using same colors,
same patterns, same shapes and forms
providing balance to the composition.
• Due to unity the composition will look more
aesthetically appealing.

• When there is smooth change in a
composition.
• Harmony can obtained by using different kind
of smooth patterns, colors, shapes and forms.
• harmony can opt by unity, verity and rhythm.
10. 4. Focus/Emphasis
• Making a focal point in a composition is called
focus or emphasis.
• Focus can be created by colors, shape,
contrasts etc.
• This principle is used when there is something
very special or unique to show in a
composition.
• When one part of the composition is
important and has to be focused visually,
emphasis is created.

• When viewer’s eye move along the art work
movement is being created.
• Movement shows harmony in a composition.

• When one thing is different from other thing
in a same composition is called contrast.
• Contrast can be obtained by different
colors(black and white), different
shapes(square and circle) etc.
• Things which opposite to each other creates
contrast.

• The relationship between objects with each
other.
• This can be obtained by size, shape and forms.
• When one thing is small or big in relation to
the other in a composition is called
proportion.
• When everything is small or big in relation
with whole composition is called Scale.
