2. Font
Impact - The typography I have chosen for the masthead is a stylistic sans serif font. It is
simple and easily readable, and because of its size and boldness it will catch the reader’s
attention. The sans serif joins the simple and clean layout I want my magazine to have. I will
also use the font as the drop-cap in the articles.
Arial - I have chosen Arial to be the body-text because the font it basic which means
that it would be easy to read for the target audience.
Helvetica - I have chosen the bottom strip to be Helvetica because it is sans serif
as well. So it is easy to read, do not catch to much attention away from the front
cover image and is noticeable.
FUTURA – MEDIUM BOLD - I have chosen this font to be on the cover line on
the front page of the magazine because it is bold and sans serif so it matches the
masthead. But not too bold, so it does not take away the attention of the
masthead.
5. Colours
My audience’s gender is divided in two. There
are nearly as much male readers as there is
female readers. That is why I have chosen a lot
of different colours. They are not gender-
colours, because my magazine is for all kinds of
genders, so that is why I want a bit of dark
green, dark red, some brown colours and the
original black and white. I want some of the
colours to be semi-dark, because I want the
photos to have a light background to create
contrast. And the colours are not very bright
either, I want them to be neutrals and regals.
The colours will also match the models costume
in my shoot.

A female model with rebellious radiance who is a
indie/rock singer.
Pastel green top, pink hair, and lots of dark make up. Some
rings and neckless. A bit on stage/indie/rock style.
Staged shot in the studio with a plain white background
and strong and high key natural lighting.
Would really like an electric guitar. But if I can’t get one, I can
use headphones as an alternative.

One female model, the same model as in the front
page, because she has the main article in the
magazine.
The same costume as in the front page. Pink hair,
pastel green top, black pant, stoking's with holes and
Dr. Martines.
The studio, with plain white background and a high key
natural lighting.
Maybe a guitar, if not, I will use headphones.

The same female model as in the front cover, and
contents page. This is to show the audience know
that she is important.
She will be wearing the same costume as well, but
maybe with a fur coat, or something to make it a bit
different, create variety.

natural lighting.
Hopefully a guitar, but if not, I’ll use headphones.

The same female model, but different pose. To
show that she is a rebellious teenager, just like the
audience, so they feel recognised in the artist.

14. Here is the flat-plan for
my monthly magazine.
The picture only shows to
sections but since it is a
monthly magazine I am
going to have two more
and they will have the
same contains as the two
that are shown. There
are pages that will exist
in every issue, like album,
artist and band reviews,
student life and reader
opinion.
15. The masthead will be written in this
font so it catches the eye of the
consumer. It is simple and written
straight on the upper side of the
front cover.
The barcode and number of the
issue is written under the masthead
in very little font. Because it is a bit
important but not the thing I want
my consumer to focus the most on.
Medium shot of a rebellious and
pretty female model. Who is a
knows indie/rock artist. She wears a
lot of make up, pink hair, pastel
green top and headphones to show
the audience that this is a music
magazine
The cover line will be the
name of the artist because
she is famous and that will
catch her fans attention.
The bottom strip is there to
present to the audience the
best and most famous artist
inside the indie/rock/pop
genre. And there names will
represent their role in the
magazine. It is like a list of
the bands and artists the
audience can read about in
the magazine.
16. The masthead that will read
contents will have that as a title
in the real magazine as well to
show the audience that this is
the contents page.
The image on the page will be of
the same model as the on on
the front page because in this
issue she is the focus and main
big artist.
The pull quote in the image says
something that the artist had
said. Something important, and
that will catch the audience and
her fans attention. The page of
her article will also be printed
near the quote so the reader
can easily find the page.
The page number of each article,
feature, review will be written in
chronological order so the
reader finds what they are
looking for easily. I will not divide
the page into different sections
like Q-magazine because I feel
like that will only confuse the
reader.
The date and number of the
magazine will be written under
the masthead to show the
audience that the contents are
fresh and updated.
Beside the page number
written in bold, there will be
some information of what it
contains to inform the reader.
17. I start the magazine
with a pull quote as
the title because this
way the article
become more
interesting and
personal to the
reader.
I have a drop cap to
show the audience
that here is where
the article starts. It is
not necessary going
to be a “T” but it was
just a letter to show
what I wanted.
The ingress of the article will come under the pull quote as an
introduction of the artist and article. It is written in a slightly larger
font that than the text because it is going to be more interesting in the
short run and easier to see.
There is also going to be a quote in the middle
of the text. And that is going to be highlighted
with a bigger font to make the text seem more
interesting to read.
The photographs in
the double page
spread is the same
model that is on the
contents page and
front cover. But,
these images will be
slightly more
personal. Maybe
some close ups, a
long shot and etc. to
create some variety.
This way the article
becomes more
interesting to read
for the consumer.
