2. Heaven - Emeli Sande
• The shot uses the rule of 3rd but the object, which seems to be
The cross with an angel, takes up most of the frame showing it’s
importance and how the video includes faith and belief in
religion (Christianity). The greenery in the background makes it
look like paradise relating it to the title of the song (Heaven).
• The image is a Low Angle Shot, making the statue appear big,
powerful, and dominant.
• A young innocent girl is standing in front of a wall with a drawing of
wings on it. She looks upset, could be the pressure of society, and
clueless about what to do.
• And again there’s greenery in the background connecting it to
paradise.
• She looks like she’s waiting to spread her wings and be free.
• The colour red used expresses the dangerous things she might face
during her youth.
3. Heaven - Emeli Sande
• First you see two children laughing and playing around with
no worries.
• Then you see a young adult girl who seems to be doing
alright but has a bit of sadness in her.
• In the next image you see an adult who looks like he’s
struggling with something in his life and had red teary eyes.
• In the last image you can see an old man who has nothing
but the look of sadness in his face even more so than the
other images, and he is shouting for help while looking at
the sky, probably asking God why his life has been so hard.
• The one thing most of these people have in common is that
they all seem to be waiting for an occurrence that could
change their lives.
• Seeing the different levels of sadness and the state that
they’re in, we can predict that an increase in the
knowledge and understanding of society leads to people
trying their best to put up with the expectations.
The music video shows the progression in sadness as people grow up.
