4. Common Stereotypes
 Positive Stereotypes:
 Younger generations are often seen as active and
energetic people. They are often very
sociable, adventurous and fun.
 Many older people are viewed as being wise and
authoritative. Because of their age they come
across as being well educated, wealthy and live a
stable life.

5. Common Stereotypes II
 Negative:
 On the other hand younger people are often
described as lazy, rebellious and rude to other
people.
 Certain ages are seen as hormonal, venerable
and naïve.
 This is similar to older people, people assume
that they often are old and weak as well as being
lonely and boring.

8. How Is Age Represented In The
Clip?
Mise en Scene:
•
Costume - Younger people are wearing modern clothing. The man is wearing shirt with a
vest, which could link with the ‘old’ fashion. This clip shows the comparison in style from
which he was a young adult to young adult’s now.

Props- Background consists of normal, typical household items, the event that is occurring is
a celebratory meal taking place in the families dining area.

Lighting- Light above the table, shows they are centre of attention. Behind Patrick is
lighter, to show that he is the elder and wiser one. Also, to show that he has the power in this
specific clip.
Setting:
 In an average sized house. Around a round dining table.
Colour:
 Patrick’s costume is more colourful. To show he is different and may have a vibrant
personality compared to the other characters.
 The other characters are purposely dressed in grey and black, to make Patrick stand out
more.
 The set itself, is brown and red (wallpaper), to connote to the fact that they are a family, it
also helps to create a sense of realism of the audience watching.
Sound:
 Dialogue- Anecdote shows that he is the older person, as he has more to experience. The
facial expressions on the peoples face shows that they are interested which could connote to
the fact that they are respecting him, as they are listening intently.
 Music- The music playing is Jamaican, to show Patrick’s background and show the audience
his roots. This is Diegetic sound, as it is playing in the background of the meal in the clip.
